Nick Hogan Does The Sundance Film Festival

Perhaps incarceration was a bit TOO much for the lad
Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Nick Hogan (née Nick Boella) has kept a relatively low profile since he was freed from jail last October after he successfully served out a jail sentence stemming from the near fatal car accident he was responsible for in Summer 2007. Since his release, we’ve not see much of him out and about (thankfully, he’s not been seen anywhere in the vicinity of a motor vehicle) … until now. Nick showed up at the Sundance Film Festival this week presumably to see some of the independent films showing there but most likely to party and enjoy the free swag. I’m not sure if Nick’s time in jail severely traumatized him or what but … he showed up to one party wearing a red and black outfit that, well, … see for yourself:

Nick Hogan doesn’t really ever get much pity from me … but seeing him in this outfit … wow! I can’t even imagine the trauma that the young man must’ve endured in jail to make him think that this outfit is acceptable for imposing on others. I mean, the jacket is a lot … but to add not only the knit cap but the sunglasses as well? Yes, he deffo has finally won my pity. Poor thing. He prolly thinks he’s pretty fly (for a white guy). Shame.

Nick Hogan Freed From Jail

Gets sprung from jail early for good behavior
Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

Nick Hogan (née Nick Boella), son of famed wrestler Hulk Hogan who was sentenced to 8 months of incarceration (including 5 years probation, 500 hours of community service and 3 years driver’s license revocation) last May after pleading “no contest” to the felony charge of reckless driving involving serious bodily injury (stemming from a car accident that occurred in 2007 that left his friend John Graziano in a vegetative state), was released early this morning after serving only 166 days of his sentence on account of good behavior. Nick’s older, more famous, sister Brooke Hogan (also née Boella) was on hand at the Pinellas County Jail in Clearwater, FL to collect her little jailbird bro. Here are a few photos of Nick walking free from the jail in the wee hours this morning:

Six months after going to jail following his no-contest plea on a reckless driving charge, Nick Bollea (a.k.a. Nick Hogan), son of Hulk Hogan, was released from jail early Tuesday morning (October 21). According to the Tampa Tribune, the 18-year-old Bollea raced into the arms of his sister, Brooke Hogan, upon his release from Pinellas County Jail, where he served 166 days of an eight-month sentence in connection with an August 2007 street racing crash that severely injured Bollea’s friend, John Graziano. Bollea, who was released early for good behavior, walked out of Pinellas County Jail at 12:30 a.m. and did not speak to photographers before getting into a sport utility vehicle and heading home. His mother, Linda Bollea, released a statement Tuesday morning asking the media to respect the family’s privacy.

“This is our time as a family to come together to support Nick’s adjustment back into the public life, keeping it as normal as possible,” she said. “Neither Nick, nor we as a family, has any interest in making this anything but private. We respect the media’s role and only ask that they respect our privacy. Nick went into prison as a juvenile and has experienced something that will mold and affect him for the rest of his adult life. His focus is to make a positive difference in this world, media-free. Since his future actions will speak louder than any words, there is no need to speak to the media at this time.”

Bollea, a veteran of his father’s “Hogan Knows Best” show on VH1, had said in jail that he wanted to star in his own reality show after release, an idea Graziano’s lawyer, George Tragos, felt was exploitative. “It’s awful Nick is going to get a reality show because he went to jail because of the permanent harm he caused another human being,” Tragos said, according to the Tribune.

Brooke Hogan not only was there to collect her just-sprung brother from jail but she also seems to have gotten a new tattoo in honor of her brother Nick’s new lease on life:

I think it shows a real strength of character and the true bonds of committed support for an older sister to get a Redemption “stripper plate” or “tramp stamp” tattoo for one’s younger brother who was just released from jail for almost killing a person. Even if her tattoo has nothing at all to do with her brother — kudos, still, for having the foresight to get such an apropos tattoo in the first place. I gotta say, I’m actually surprised that Nick ended up serving 6 of his 8 month sentence. While I honestly believe he should be locked up for much more time, I’m impressed that he was forced to serve so much of his sentence (rather than getting out after a month like his family tried to pull off earlier this year). It remains to be seen if Nick will actually stay out of the media spotlight (those reality TV camera lights can be very inviting) but I sincerely hope that he manages to stay out of trubs. I also am still hoping for a full recovery by John Graziano, who has been sentenced to a punishment far worse than incarceration and for a much longer period of time.

Nick Hogan To Be Sprung From Jail Early

3 months early, to be exact
Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

Nick Hogan finally has a reason to wake up in the morning … it is being reported that homeslice is going to get an early release from his 8 month jail sentence after earning credits for good behavior. You may recall that Nick Hogan (real name Nick Boella) was sentenced to serve 8 months in jail back in May after pleading “no contest” to the felony charge of reckless driving involving serious bodily injury (he was behind the wheel of a tragic car accident in August of last year that almost killed his former best friend John Graziano) … but it looks like Nick will only have to serve 5 months of his 8 month sentence:

Hulk Hogan’s son Nick Bollea is getting out of jail nearly three months early with credits for good behavior and working, PEOPLE has learned. Bollea, who has been serving an eight-month sentence at Pinellas County Jail in Clearwater, Fla., for reckless driving that led to an accident with injuries, is due to be released Oct. 21. The early release follows standard procedures for all inmates. “They automatically get credits towards early release, and if they don’t do anything bad while they’re here, they get to use the credits,” says a jail official who did not want to be identified. Bollea was sentenced for his role in a car accident last year in which his passenger, 22-year-old John Graziano, was seriously injured. Bollea’s sister, Brooke Hogan, tells PEOPLE that she is looking forward to her brother being released. “I’m not sure where he’ll live. I think he’s going to do his own thing,” said Hogan, who was attending the anniversary party for Strike Miami, a ritzy bowling alley in Miami. Graziano’s lawyer George Tragos of St. Petersburg, Fla., said he is not surprised to hear that Hogan is getting out early. “It’s standard procedure,” he tells PEOPLE. “There is no way for us to impact his release date, that’s not within our control. It’s a formula worked out by the sheriff.”

While I realize that this is “standard procedure” for all inmates I guess I just don’t understand why criminals can’t just serve out their entire sentence. After all, they have been judged to be at fault for their crimes, they are sentenced to a certain amount of jailtime … why can’t they just have to serve out their entire sentences? I understand that John Graziano is still hospitalized in a vegetative state since last year’s accident … when does his sentence end? I’m not sure if any of this is really fair … but it is, apparently, justice.

Happy 18th Birthday, Nick Hogan

You're a big boy now!
Monday, July 28th, 2008

Nick Hogan, currently serving an 8 month jail sentence for almost killing his best friend John Graziano in a reckless car accident late last year, turned 18th years old yesterday … his father, Hulk Hogan, presented him with a birthday cake … his mother, Linda Hogan, presented him with a skateboard … his sister, Brooke Hogan, was a no-show and the state of Florida penal system presented him with an upgrade from a juvenile detention center to real, big boy jail. Happy Birthday, Nick:

Nick Bollea celebrated his 18th birthday today by being transferred into Pinellas County Jail’s Central Division — where he will reside in the direct supervision housing section which hold around 70 adults and one correctional officer. Hulk told us Nick was a “janitor.” We’re told Hulk Hogan, Linda Hogan, Bubba the Love Sponge and bunch of Nick’s friends sang “happy birthday” to him over a video monitor. After that, they were allowed to visit him two at a time. His sister Brooke was not there.

OUCH! I wonder why Brookie dear wasn’t interested in visiting her jailbird bro on this benchmark birthday. Meh, I guess it doesn’t matter … at least Hulk’s friend and radio host Bubba and a handsome gentleman in a yellow t-shirt with the fetching shaved head mullet came out for the festivities — that’s got to count for something. Mama Linda Hogan also came out for Nick’s birthday but she arrived separately from the Hulk group … she also brought along a birthday gift for her locked-up son:

What the eff Nick Hogan is supposed to do with a skateboard in jail, I’m sure I have no idea … but I guess it was a nice gesture nonetheless. Actually, it’s not even that Nick could enjoy or even handle his shiny new skateboard. I think it was more like, “Look at your gift! You can touch it after you get sprung from jail!”

Lord … it sounds like it was a fun party for everyone … except for Nick. After the party was dunzo, Hulk and Linda Hogan each gave interviews to the assembled media outside (watch TMZ’s interview footage HERE) which is really the perfect way to round out a birthday party for one’s jailed son.

UPDATE: Brooke Hogan wants the world to know that she was in attendance at her brother Nick’s jailtime birthday party, she blogs:

uhh…there’s such thing as a back door you jerks. In conclusion…That goes to show you that you can’t believe anything you watch on TV or read in magazines. Cause people will make up BS without even knowing the facts. Hey Media! Why don’t you gather facts, check them, and then give the public the truth? That might work. Oh no…I forgot. You make too much money telling LIES. Needless to say, I WAS there for my brother on his birthday because he is my best friend and NOTHING comes before family.

I suppose it’s possible she used the “back door” to go into the jail, where her parents happily paraded themselves in front of the cameras on their way in and out. But what I want to know is … did she get him a gift?

The Crying Game

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008
Yesterday it was reported that Nick Hogan’s request to be freed from his solitary Pinellas County jail cell in Florida was denied … so in retaliation, Hogan’s attorney filed a lawsuit against the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Department for releasing recordings of his private phone conversations (which have been made widely public and subject to hilarious scrutiny). And so, in retaliation of that move, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Department has released photos of the jail cell that Nick is being held in … you know, just for kicks:

Nick Hogan does not want to be singled out by Florida’s Pinellas County Sheriff’s Department. Except when he does. The Hulkster’s son, currently serving an eight-month sentence for felony reckless driving stemming from a crash that left his friend in critical condition, has filed a civil suit against the department for releasing recordings of his private phone conversations. News of the suit surfaced on the same day a judge denied the younger Hogan’s request to be removed from solitary confinement because it’s causing him “unbearable anxiety.” Hmm. Perhaps that’s why it’s called punishment. Officials said the 17-year-old, whose real name is Nick Bollea, was originally separated from other inmates because he is, until his July 27 birthday, a minor. This, despite him being convicted in adult court. The rejection and subsequent alone time shouldn’t smart the teen too much, however, as he seems to prize his privacy above all else. Attorneys for Bollea have filed a civil suit against the Sheriff’s Office for what they claim is a violation of his privacy rights, after the office released a series of phone conversations between the jailbird, his wrestler father and his mother. Pinellas County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Marianne Pasha told E! News that the family had fair—and frequent—warning their calls were being recorded. “During the phone calls, there is a recording that comes on reminding callers that their call is being recorded,” she said. “All calls from the jail are collect calls and all persons involved in the calls are advised that the call is being taped.” However, the Bolleas should feel free to go at it now. “We cannot comment on this case because there is now litigation pending,” Pasha said. “And we will also not be able to release any more calls while this litigation is pending.”

HMMMM … the Hogans sure are making a big stink over this. I just don’t understand how they don’t get that Nick Hogan is BEING PUNISHED FOR HIS CRIME and is supposed to be made to feel “uncomfortable”. It would be amazing if Nick’s ass did get released from solitary confinement when he turns 18 … so that he can be thrown into the general population … and is made to understand what incarceration is really all about. That would be justice. It would also be fitting for him to stay in jail for his entire 8-month sentence, not getting out early for any reason at all. I suspect (and hope) that all of the Hogan’s bitching will lead to just that result. Is it too much to hope that Nick Hogan is actually learning his lesson? Honestly, I have my doubts. [Source]

Motion: Denied! Nick Hogan Stays In The Big House

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008
TMZ is reporting that Nick Hogan’s request to be released from jail so that he can serve out the remainder of his 8-month sentence (for pleading no contest after causing a crash that seriously injured his best friend John Graziano who remains hospitalized in a vegetative state) has been denied. Imagine that! He’s actually going to have to pay for the crime he plead no contest to:

Poor Nick Hogan! A judge has just denied his request to be let out til his 18th birthday. For now, Nicky Boy will stay put in the Pinellas County, Fla. jail. 17-year-old Nick — whose real name is Nick Bollea — complained he was essentially in solitary confinement, isolated from the general population, saying it “wasn’t fair.” Tell that to John Graziano and his family. He wanted to be placed under house arrest til his bday in mid July, presumably because his parents have been such a good influence on him.

The fact that Nick is actually suffering in jail is good … maybe he will actually learn the lesson that he was sent there to learn. Kudos to the judge for not buckling under the pressure to placate the Hogan family. Maybe they’ll learn a lesson, too. Click HERE to read the court documents relating to this denial. [Source]
