Some folks said that it wouldn’t last but Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon managed to successfully make it thru one year of happily wedded bliss as they celebrated their first anniversary last night at the Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV. Touched by the moving tributes to the couple, Mimi openly cried as she celebrated her marriage to her hubby Nick Cannon. Here are a few pics from last night’s celebration and some info on what went down at the shindig:

Where has the time gone? With smiles on their faces, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon celebrated one year of wedded bliss Thursday in Las Vegas at the Palms Casino Resort. “It’s a very special occasion,” Cannon told the crowd at Moon Nightclub, where he was deejaying, “toast to everyone.” After a very private wedding a year ago, the couple decided to do the opposite for their anniversary, celebrating with a nightclub full of people. The couple did, however, dine in a private room at Simon beforehand. Once inside the club, the couple were greeted with a four-foot birthday cake. And the surprises kept coming – at least for Carey. Unbeknownst to her, Cannon produced a video of the couple’s last year, including video of intimate moments. After the video was shown, Carey was seen crying. “This is the most amazing person in the world,” Cannon said into the microphone about his wife. “I dedicate my life to her daily, and together this union is gonna last forever. She is my rock.” Carey replied: “I have the best man in the whole wide world.” The gushfest continued after a balloon drop and a clubwide toast, which Cannon dedicated to his wife.

Where has the time gone, indeed! I cannot believe it’s been a whole year! I remember when we caught wind that they crazy kids went and got hitched and I, too, was among the detractors that didn’t see how their union would be able to stand the test of time. I am very happy to be proved wrong … even tho they have only made it to their one year anniversary, I think they’ve proven (not that they needed to at all) that they are in it for the long haul. Mariah Carey isn’t usually one to show this much emotion … that she would so openly cry at a tribute like this is very touching. I’m so happy that she’s found someone to share her life with. I’m pretty sure I’ll go back to making fun of their relationship from time to time but, for now, I’m happy to celebrate their anniversary. May Mr. & Mrs. Cannon have many more anniversary celebrations to come!!

With their one year anniversary on the horizon, it’s high time for Nick Cannon to start showering his beloved wife Mariah Carey with gifts to let her know how much he cares. Firstly, we now know that Nick got his wife’s name inked in huge letters across his back (which, by the way, is the surest way to tempt fate to eff with your romantic relationship) and secondly, we learn that he also procured a new pet dog for his ladylove. Let the anniversary celebration begin!! Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon will celebrate their one-year wedding anniversary in May, after being secretly married last spring in the Bahamas. So what does a guy get the girl who has everything? “I got her a short-haired Jack Russell terrier,” he told Us Weekly. “A girl, named Cha-Cha. She’s 8 weeks.” Although Cannon laughed off rumors that he and Carey are expecting a baby, he did say that being married to her is “the most amazing thing ever. I couldn’t wish for anything else.” He even offered evidence of why the marriage is so great. “She’s the most incredible woman,” he said. “Being in a strong union and being there for each other is something that I’d never really experienced before, so to experience it with my wife is remarkable. We’re together as one, and that’s important to me.” The couple plan on getting away for their upcoming anniversary to a tropical locale, similar to the one where they were married a year ago. “We never went on a honeymoon,” he said. “So I guess I can tell you we’ll probably go to Barbados.” Cannon also recently spoke to “Extra” about the possibility of working with Carey on any music. “I am not worthy of being on a Mariah Carey record,” he insisted. “Please, we’re going to try to keep her career soaring. I can’t even step into the studio with that woman. She is incredible.”

Wow. I can’t even believe that it’s almost been a year already. It seems like just yesterday that we learned that Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon were secretly wed and here we are, on the verge of their 1st year anniversary. They say that the first year of marriage is the hardest but it seems like Mr. & Mrs. Cannon have made it thru with flying colors. Truth be told, I wasn’t sure if they were gonna make it a month let alone a year. Nick must really be sure that Mimi is the one for him because a tattoo that huge on one’s back is a serious commitment. Let’s hope that they never break-up because Nick would need some major skin grafting surgery to have that tattoo removed. BUT, let’s stay positive … I suppose congrats are in order for Mariah, Nick and little Cha-Cha. It’s not quite time for Happy Anniversary just yet but soon … hopefully.

When last we saw Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon they were sippin’ cocktails on the high seas, toasting the new year (and possibly showing the world Mimi’s unpregsness) but it looks like the vacay is over for Mr. & Mrs. Cannon as they have already made their way back to wet and dreary NYC. Here are a few pics of Mimi and Nick as they made their way out of Japonais last night, stepping into the cold and rainy night:

David tells me that the weather has been cold and rainy ever since I left NYC earlier this week and he has taken ill as a result. I really think the warm, sunny temps here in SoCal would do him wonders … we’ll have to see about getting him to feel better. But I digress … anytime I see pics of Mariah and Nick and I can’t help but look at him as Mimi’s fave accessory of the moment rather than her husband. I mean, I dunno … I’m not sure I’ll ever get used to see them as a married couple … but he does make a really great valet.

As one of the final toasts to 2008 (and perhaps to put those pregnancy rumors to rest once and for all … or just for now), Mariah Carey and hubby Nick Cannon were snapped enjoying a couple glasses of vino as they supped on raw oysters on their Caribbean holiday this week … booze + raw fish = no bun in the oven:

Mariah Carey is still not pregnant. The singer was spotted sipping red wine and eating oysters — no-nos when expecting — in St. Barts on Tuesday. Carey also showed off her bikini bod as she toasted wine with her husband Nick Cannon at hot spot Nikki Beach. But kids could still be in the couple’s future. “I couldn’t imagine anybody that I’ve ever met being a better dad [than Cannon],” she said earlier this year. After their surprise April wedding, Cannon’s half-brother told Us Cannon “definitely wants kids” with Carey.

MMM HMMM … no babies yet but that doesn’t mean they won’t come. I suspect if the couple manage to stay hitched for at least a year then the baby bump might finally come. In the meantime, it looks like Mimi and Nick are just concerned with gettin’ their party on without concerning themselves with stretch marks and morning sickness. Mebbe once Nick reaches puberty the couple can seriously discuss a future with children.

Mariah Carey and her much younger hubby Nick Cannon continue to enjoy their holiday week in Aspen, CO where the couple have been since just before Xmas. As you may recall, the couple stepped out onto the streets of Aspen wearing matching red outfits before they stepped out and showed off their matching white outfits. Today we get to see new pics of the couple mixing up their ensembles a bit … behold:

See, now this is much better … they don’t need to wear matching outfits to show the world how much in love with one another they are. This way, they look like normal, uncrazy people. I love that Mimi, apparently, owns various pairs of those FRIGHTFULLY horrid furry boots in different colors. I wonder how many Sasquatches Chanel had to slaughter to get the shaggy fur to make those monstrosities? In any event, I don’t expect that Mr. & Mrs. Cannon will remain in Colorado for New Year’s Eve … they will, most likely, jet off to someplace more happenin’.

Yesterday we got to see the happily married Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon make their grand arrival in the resort town of Aspen, CO (where Mimi annually spends her holidays) in the most garishly ridiculous red outfits possible. Today, we get to see a couple new photos of Mr. & Mrs. Cannon (plus Jack, the dog) as the fam took to the streets of Aspen on day two of their Xmas getaway … this time, tho, white was the color du jour:

LOL … they are SO ridiculous! You just know that Mimi thinks she is just the most stylish thing ever but she looks so bad in this outfit … especially with Nick lookin’ a fool in his matching outfit. He really needs a hat that fits him … in these pics he really does look special. Lawd … I just love the tackiness, tho. These two are so the best of the worst.

I wonder if the couple will be ruining the color blue tomorrow.

Mariah Carey has a long-standing tradition of spending the holidays in Aspen, Colorado and normally ends up Ho Ho Hoing all by her lonesome (with only her pooch Jack to keep her company) … but now that she’s married, she brought along her much younger husband Nick Cannon to partake of her annual Xmas vacay in the resort town. Here are pics of Mr. & Mrs. Cannon showing off their garish and entirely fugly matching red winter outfits on the streets of Aspen yesterday:

Lord have mercy … I just don’t understand how anyone could look at themselves in the mirror while wearing these outfits and say, Wow, I look great! I love Mimi with all my heart but she looks a right mess in these pics. I’m always amazed that she manages to NOT get chest colds despite the fact that she’s always got her cleavage exposed, no matter what the chilly temps. may be. Nick, bless his heart, just looks like he’s along for the ride … like always. He’s always standing at her side or two steps behind her (usually, he’s two steps behind her) smiling wide like a sweet doofus, just happy to be included in the whirlwind that is Mariah Carey. While I still have a hard time seeing these two as an actual married couple, I’m glad to see that they’ve made it successfully to the end of the year still happily married to one another.
