‘The Real Housewives Of Atlanta’ Reveal Their Alter-Egos

Earlier this week on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, the ladies showed off their collection of alter-ego photos that were shot by Atlanta photographer Derek Blanks and featured each of the housewives — NeNe Leakes, Shereé Whitfield, Lisa Wu-Hartwell, Kim Zolciak and Kandi Burress — showing two different sides to their personalities (at least, that was the original premise of the shoot). In case you missed it or just want to see them again, here are the photos shot by Blanks of the Atlanta Housewives showing off their dual personalities:

NENE LEAKES — After directing her costars during their shoots, NeNe stepped in front of the camera to portray a pole-dancing stripper and a reluctant socialite tipper.

SHEREE WHITFIELD — Making light of her much-hyped “seven-figure” divorce settlement, the She by Shereé designer posed as a fashionista and a robber.

LISA WU-HARTWELL — Watch the cookies! At the alter-ego photo shoot, NeNe got her pal to pose as a punk and a goody-goody Girl Scout.

KIM ZOLCIAK — Deciding not to dress up like a black version of herself, Kim chose to pose as a mistress and her lover’s scorned wife at a Laundromat.

KANDI BURRESS — Kandi, whose friends were involved in a drunk-driving accident, decided send a message, portraying an intoxicated clubber who got behind the wheel and her victim.

I personally was not too impressed by all of the photos. I thought NeNe, Shereé and Lisa had the right attitude … Kim‘s photo is fug and Kandi‘s photo – while admirable – wasn’t really a photo showcasing her dual personality. Overall, I thought the shoot was fun tho … Blanks has come up with a very creative idea and he has shot some very cool photos. I just love the Atlanta Housewives, they are my fave of the bunch. What do y’all think of these photos … are they cool or do they miss the mark?

“I couldn’t be gayer!” - Andy Cohen
Bravo TV’s ‘Real Housewives’ Join Andy Cohen On The Cover Of ‘The Advocate’

A Real Housewife of New York City, New Jersey and Atlanta each is featured on the cover of the new issue of The Advocate magazine along with Bravo TV programming honcho Andy Cohen. Cohen speaks openly and frankly with the mag about being an out and proud man in the TV biz, lookin’ very much like the gay Ward Cleaver alongside his Housewives:

“I couldn’t be gayer.” As Andy Cohen makes this proclamation, he couldn’t be prouder. It’s 9:30 a.m., and the Bravo executive is in a seersucker suit, seated in a Sirius XM Radio studio in midtown Manhattan. He’s a guest on The Gayle King Show and has been asked to sound off on Whitney Houston’s highly anticipated comeback, a topic he’s thrilled to discuss. From Madonna to Sandra Bernhard to the ubiquitous Real Housewives his network is churning out, Cohen loves his divas. Tieless, the top two buttons of his lavender shirt left open, his hands circling through the air, he is on. His excitement about Whit’s new album is not unlike that of a 15-year-old girl gushing over the Jonas Brothers at her cafeteria lunch table. Then, as if they were tasked with proving Cohen’s previous statement, he and King start to sing along to Houston’s new single, “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength.” Cohen sways in his chair, snaps his fingers, and swings his head back and forth in front of the mike. Watching the silver-haired, impeccably tan, 41-year-old former CBS News producer surrender to his inner pop tart, you’d have to agree — this man couldn’t be gayer.

Ugh .. that’s about all of Cohen‘s interview that I could stomach, if you are interested … you can read the rest of it HERE. While I generally love Andy Cohen (something about his crossed/wonky eye is kinda cute), I find that he tends to really irritate me when exposed to him for long periods of time. His late-night talk show Watch What Happens is kinda painful to watch, mainly because he tends to bug. That being said, the man is a reality TV genius … he consistently comes up with really fun programming that I just can get enough of (The Real Housewives, Top Chef, Tabitha’s Salon Make-over, Project Runway). True, some of Bravo‘s reality programming sucks balls (Miami Social, Millionaire Match-Maker, The Rachel Zoe Project) but overall, Bravo has become THE home of fun and entertaining reality TV. While I feel that Andy‘s fame may be going to his head just a touch, I hope he continues to bring the entertainment … if he starts believing they hype that he’s the star, he may lose his eye for finding great new TV programming. Methinks Mr. Cohen should stay behind the scenes where he’s been more successful rather than in the spotlight where he is decidedly much less of a success.

The drama on 'The Real Housewives of Atlanta' spills out into real life
Kim Zolciak Alleges That NeNe Leakes Tried To ‘Choke Her Out’

Whoa!! Just when you thought the drama on The Real Housewives of Atlanta couldn’t get any more insane than last week’s ep (Who Gonna Check Me, Boo?) we learn that the drama got really real for two of the Atlanta housewives this past April. According to Kim Zolciak, the housewife with the worst wigs and the inability to carry a tune, she was physically assaulted by co-star NeNe Leakes as the two women were on their way to film a scene for the show. Zolciak filed a police report that Leakes put her hands on her and “tried to choke her out”. Here are some of the deets on what allegedly went down, including a look at the actual police report filed by Zolciak:

Just when we thought the table-flipping outburst on The Real Housewives of New Jersey was cuckoo crazy, now come allegations of physical attacks down in Atlanta. Back in April, country music star wannabe Kim Zolciak filed a police report against fellow Housewife NeNe Leakes … Kim claims NeNe grabbed her neck and “tried to choke her out” at the end of an argument on April 15, according to an incident report … Two witnesses, who apparently tried to break up the fight, corroborated Kim’s story. No reason was given for the altercation, and NeNe had left the area by the time the cops arrived. NeNe has not been arrested or charged with any crime, but a rep for Kim insists the incident is still under investigation. “Violence is a very serious issue, and we are not going to take this incident lightly,” the rep said. “Mrs. Leakes needs obvious therapy for her apparent anger management issues.” A rep for Bravo and NeNe had no comment. Housewife Sheree Whitfield just told me, “There is going be tons of drama and catfights [this season]. I don’t know if you call that one a catfight. That’s more like a dogfight!” While the Kim-NeNe argument was not caught on tape, a source said the issue will be addressed in an upcoming episode. How are things between the two now? Definitely chilly. The ladies held court on opposite sides of the W Atlanta-Buckhead hotel on Tuesday night during a party for the premiere of the show’s second season, according to another source.

Damn! While I don’t want to see NeNe get into any trubs for what it is being alleged that she did, I can absolutely believe that Kim is capable of pushing NeNe over the breaking point. I’m curious to see how Bravo TV handles this situation. On the one hand, I bet they’re licking their lips to try and air as much of this altercation as possible but have to be reigned in by the law. Trust, they will exploit this incident as much as they can within the confines of the law. After the jump, check out the police report filed by Kim that outlines what she alleges happened to her …

The 9th annual awards show pays tribute to Michael Jackson
The 2009 BET Awards Are Handed Out

Last night the 9th annual BET Awards were handed out at the Shrine Auditorium here in Los Angeles, CA and earlier today we saw video of Janet Jackson‘s appearance on the awards show where she delivered a statement to fans of her late brother Michael Jackson. As I noted earlier, the entire BET Awards were a tribute to Michael‘s memory. Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals from last night’s awards show:

I LOVED seeing the cast of Bravo TV‘s The Real Housewives of Atlanta … including alums NeNe Leakes (FTW!), Lisa Wu Hartwell, Sheree Whitfield and new castmember Kandi Burruss. I am really looking forward to the return of the Atlanta Housewives in August :) I also love the photo of Zoe Saldana and Nichelle Nichols (who both portrayed the Star Trek character Uhura) together on the red carpet … beautiful, beautiful ladies. The show itself was very entertaining … in between award presentations and live performances, host Jamie Foxx made sure to remind the audience that this year’s BET Awards was a true celebration of Michael Jackson‘s legacy. Here are a few pics from the show itself and a rundown of what went down:

Michael Jackson’s sister Janet thanked the crowd at the BET Awards Sunday night for paying tribute to her late brother. “My entire family wanted to be here, but it was just too painful,” she said, holding back tears. “To you Michael is an icon. To us Michael is family. And he will forever live in all of our hearts.” The star-studded BET Awards was an appreciation of Michael Jackson, who died Thursday at age 50. He was “the greatest star in the world,” Joseph Jackson, father of the late entertainer, said on Sunday night. “I wish the world had recognized him when he were living,” Joseph Jackson told CNN’s Don Lemon outside the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. “Right now he’s bigger than ever. But I wish he was here to see all this, to hear all this.” When asked about circumstances surrounding his son’s death, he said, “I have a lot of concerns but I can’t get into that. … I don’t like what happened.” The awards opened with a fleet-footed New Edition, with Bobby Brown, performing an energized version of the Jackson 5 hit “The Love You Save,” to raucous praise. Host Jamie Foxx wore a red, leather “Beat It” jacket for his opening monologue and did his best to imitate Jackson’s backward glide across the floor. In addition to Foxx, presenter Jeremy Piven mixed praise for Jackson with comic relief. “If it wasn’t for Michael Jackson, people like Justin Timberlake would be selling curly fries in the valley,” the actor said. “I mean that with love.” This year’s performers included, Beyonce, Keyshia Cole and R&B artist Neyo who performed a hard-hitting tribute to the 1990s with appearances by acts Keith Sweat, Guy and Bell Biv Devoe. The presenters included the past and present Uhura of “Star Trek”: Zoe Saldana, who starred in the film, and Nichelle Nichols of the TV show. The show also honored the soulful Ohio trio, The O’Jays, who were presented the Lifetime Achievement Award. Tevin Campbell performed a rendition of The O’Jays classic “Forever Mine.” Johnny Gill, Tyrese and Trey Songz performed a rumbling, soulful medley of The O’Jays hits that had some in the audience wondering if Songz was older than his years. Among the award winners, Atlanta, Georgia-based singer Keri Hilson, who was nominated in four categories, received best new artist and Beyonce won best female artist. Debra L. Lee, chairman and chief executive officer of Black Entertainment Television, said Jackson’s death both saddened and energized the awards organizers. “When we heard the news of Michael Jackon’s passing we knew immediately we’d have to change the nature of this show,” she said. “We put the show together in a matter of three or four days. It’s truly been a labor of love for us,” Lee said.

I was able to watch the show myself and it really was a very celebratory event. Except for a few touching moments, it really looked like everyone was having a great time. To be honest, I think that is the best way to honor someone’s passing. It was said many times during the BET Awards show last night — Michael Jackson was directly responsible for last night’s awards show. His trailblazing legacy as an African American performer paved the way for all of the African American artists who are enjoying successful careers today. I think it was right that his contributions were honored … and celebrated. Congrats to all of this year’s winners of BET Awards.

NeNe Leakes, FTW!
Atlanta’s Fave ‘Housewife’ Poses For A Few Photos

The Young, Black and Fabulous scored a cache of exclusive photos of NeNe Leakes (the best Real Housewife that Bravo ever did cast in any city, IMHO) lookin’ about as fabulous as can be … here are a few of her faboo pics:

I just love NeNe. The Real Housewives of Atlanta is my fave version of the series and I cannot WAIT for the new season to begin. The OC Housewives are so irritating and shallow, the NYC Housewives are just comical and ridiculous … but the Atlanta contingent were just really fun to watch. I love me some NeNe and I’m glad to see that she is lookin’ so fine. I find all the speculation about her fortune and whether or not she was evicted from her Atlanta mansion totally hilarious … that’s how you know she is a star. Those of you who are not onboard Team NeNe need to recognize … she’s the total bomb and is a Reality TV personality worth loving. I hope we get to see more of her while we wait for new eps of the series to air.
