On Saturday we learned the AMAZINGLY HAPPY news that longtime couple Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka are expecting the birth of twins via surrogate this Fall and today we get to see where the joyous couple celebrated together on the day this happy news broke … they went to Disneyland, y’all!

Aren’t these two the cutest couple ever? I’m telling you … Neil and David‘s babies are going to be very lucky little kids. Dads who love Disneyland? Oh yeah … lucky duck kids. E! News, who first reported news of the couples twins before the news was officially confirmed as true, are today reporting on the sexes of the twin babies. Find out what they have to say on what kind of kids the couple are expecting this Fall …

E! News is reporting that longtime couple Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka are expecting the birth of twin babies by way of surrogate this October. According to the site, the supposed daddies to be have already began planning the impending baby shower! Altho this report has not been confirmed by the couple, I can’t help but be excited by the notion of NPH and David becoming new parents together:

E! News has exclusively learned that the ubiquitous actor and his longtime partner, David Burtka, are going to become the parents of twins, via a beautiful surrogate, this October. At least the dads are allowed to celebrate with a champagne toast! A source tells E! that the happy couple have put baby shower plans in motion, as if Harris’ chance of winning three Emmys this month wasn’t already enough to celebrate! Burtka, a chef and actor who has guest-starred on How I Met Your Mother, was just seen with his multitalented beau last weekend after Harris directed a production of Rent at the Hollywood Bowl.

Now before we bust out the champagne and offer our official congratulations, let me remind you that Star magazine reported last year that the couple were planning to start a family together. Either that report was flat out wrong or Neil and David decided to push back their baby making for a year. I think I will hold off on getting too excited about this baby news until we hear something more substantial from either “dad-to-be” … still … how amazing will it be to see these two guys pushing a double baby stroller together?

Next weekend, for 3 nights only, Hollywood is gettin’ a special version of the Tony Award winning musical Rent in an all new production directed by actor and Rent alum Neil Patrick Harris. This new version of Rent stars Aaron Tveit (Next to Normal) and Skylar Astin (Spring Awakening) as Roger and Mark alongside Vanessa Hudgens (as Mimi), Nicole Scherzinger (as Maureen), Wanye Brady (as Tom Collins) and more! This production of Rent will play at the Hollywood Bowl and promises to be a very special one-of-a-kind production … which will debut next Friday night after only 1 week of rehearsals! Rent is absolutely one of my all-time favorite Broadway shows … and is the one I’ve seen the most times (30+ at last count). I am so excited to see this new production, even if I have some reservations about the casting.

In all honesty, I’m not entirely convinced that Vanessa Hudgens can bring Mimi to life on stage … but I trust NPH‘s decision to cast her. I’m very curious to see how the whole show comes across, to be honest. I’m pretty sure that we will be going to the opening night performance on Friday … and I’m really excited. Here’s hoping this new production of Rent will do my fave show justice … or else ;)

After production was halted last week due to a fairly serious accident on set, things appear to be back to normal on the Manhattan set of the upcoming film The Smurfs. Last Friday a worker fell from a 30-foot platform while production was filming a scene at FAO Schwartz toy store but, thankfully, he wasn’t seriously injured. Today we get to see new photos of actors Neil Patrick Harris and Hank Azaria with fashion guru Tim Gunn filming new scenes yesterday:

I still have serious doubts that I will like this movie once it comes out … but Hank looks so good as Gargamel and I just love NPH. Even still, I don’t think I can ever spend good money on any project that features Katy Perry (who voices, ack, Smurfette). I’ll do my best to keep an open mind but … I dunno. It’s fun seeing photos from the NYC set tho, yeah?

A little over a week ago we got our first look at Hank Azaria in full costume as Gargamel on the NYC set of the upcoming live action/GGI-animated film The Smurfts … and today not only do we get to see a couple more photos of Azaria as Gargamel (complete with pet cat Azrael) but we also get to see Neil Patrick Harris and Project Runway‘s Tim Gunn on set this week as well:

I still cannot get over how amazing Hank Azaria looks as Gargamel … with Azrael by his side, he truly looks impressive. I’m still not 100% convinced this film is going to turn out well … but I’m heartened by the fact that two of my fave gays — NPH and Tim Gunn — are in the flick. These on-set photos are fun to see … here’s hoping the movie actually turns out to be decent.

Back in January we learned the GREAT news that Neil Patrick Harris would be guest starring on an upcoming episode of Glee (directed by Joss Whedon, I’ll have you know) and today we get our first look at NPH as Bryan Ryan — former rival of everyone’s fave Glee club teacher Will Schuster (played by Matthew Morrison):

Neil Patrick Harris is headed to “Glee” … The “How I Met Your Mother” star is making a guest appearance on the hit FOX series as Bryan Ryan, a returning former rival of Matthew Morrison’s character Will Schuester. Neil will appear on the hit series on May 18 in an episode titled, “Dream On.” As previously reported … Molly Shannon and Olivia Newton-John will both join the “Glee” gang, as well as Kristin Chenoweth, who will reprise her role as April Rhodes. New additions this spring season also include Broadway stars Idina Menzel and Access Hollywood’s latest Rising Star, Jonathan Groff, who both premiered on the show this past Tuesday.

Lord, how is it possible that one TV show can keep getting awesomer? The world hasn’t even seen the epic Madonna episode yet (it airs this coming Tuesday night) and we’re already looking further ahead in the season at other epic episodes of Glee! How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris has signed on to appear in the upcoming film The Smurfs, the animated film mixed with live action that will bring the beloved 80′s cartoon to the big screen next year. Filming on The Smurfs begins in April and, very unfortunately, NPH will NOT be playing a Smurf in the film … which is such a shame because he really would make a cute-lookin’ Smurf:

Neil Patrick Harris will star in Sony’s big screen adaptation of The Smurfs, says Deadline Hollywood. He won’t be voicing one of the Smurfs though as the project is a mix of live-action and animation. Harris will play the lead live-action character. The site says that filming begins in April, when Harris will be on hiatus from CBS’ “How I Met Your Mother.” The Raja Gosnell-directed film is scheduled for a July 29, 2011 release. “The Smurfs” were created in 1958 by Belgian cartoonist Pierre Culliford, known throughout the world as Peyo. “The Smurfs,” originally called “Les Schtroumpfs” in French, were created for a Belgian series of comic books, first as minor characters. The villagers, known for their blue skin and small statures, spawned a line of statuettes, games, toys, theme parks and a hit TV series, which ran as part of NBC’s Saturday-morning lineup from 1981-90.

AHHHHH … I really wish NPH was playing a Smurf in this film. The mixture of animation and live action has me worried that it will turn out kinda terrible like the Alvin and the Chipmunk movies … or even worse — like the Garfield movie! Ugh!! I’m really not convinced that this Smurfs movie is going to turn out well and may, in fact, mar some of our beloved memories of the original 80′s cartoon. I do take comfort, tho, in the fact that if anyone can make this movie better … it’s Neil Patrick Harris. I guess we’ll have to wait and see … I’m still totally on the fence.

A couple of weeks ago, Neil Patrick Harris shared a personal photo on Twitter of Jennifer Lopez on the set of his CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother and today we get to see the first official promo still from that episode. As you can see from the following photo, J. Lo‘s character Anita Appleby is puttin’ the serious moves on NPH‘s character Barney Stinson:

The official first look of “How I Met Your Mother” episode that reveals how Jennifer Lopez translates to the sitcom has been released. In the new still, Lopez’s Anita Appleby is in the position to seduce Neil Patrick Harris’ Barney. According to earlier reports, Anita is a self-help guru who helps Robin in taming the womanizer. Anita makes it her mission to “break” Barney. There is no date yet for the episode but it will be within the March run … “How I Met Your Mother” is taking a break for the Winter Olympics coverage but will be back on March 1 with Carrie Underwood as guest.

J. Lo looks good, y’all. Her booty is bangin’ and Barney looks like putty in Anita‘s hands. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that these might might actually do the do … er, well, on the show that is ;) HIMYM is pulling out all the stops in these upcoming eps … be on the look out for a bunch of great guest stars.
