Hangin’ With NPH At LV For ‘GQ’

The TV Guide
Thursday, November 5th, 2009

Last night David and I were invited to the Louis Vuitton store on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, CA to attend a GQ magazine party celebrating LA Men of Style. The store was shut down and converted into a party space for invited quests to mix, mingle, drink and do a bit of afterhours shopping. The whole place was all done up in bright colorful lights:

There were a few celebs in attendance last night, including party host Neil Patrick Harris … who I finally got to meet last night :) After the jump, check out my pic with NPH and find out who else was at the shindig last night …

Neil Patrick Harris Visits Knott’s ‘Scary’ Farm

How I Met Your Monster
Friday, October 30th, 2009

Clearly everyone is getting amped up for Halloween this year … whether folks are going to patches to find the perfect pumpkins or whether they are going to amusement parks to enjoy scary attractions, Hallowe’en fun is reaching a fever pitch … with one one day to go until the big day. Here are cute photos of actor Neil Patrick Harris posing with some creepy monsters at Knott’s Berry Scary Farm here in SoCal last night:

I didn’t get the chance to go to Knott’s this year but I did go to Disneyland and Universal Studios with some friends. I’ve been to Knott’s Scary Farm in years past and it was really fun so I’m sure NPH had himself a great time last night. There is still time for all y’all to head out and do fun, scary stuff before Hallowe’en tomorrow. Do it up, y’all! Happy Hallowe’en!

Are You Ready For The 2009 LA Gay & Lesbian Center Gala & Auction?

Well you should be cuz it's gonna be a FAB event!!!
Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

My good friend (and sometimes roving reporter) Darion is working with the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center on their 2009 Gala and Auction this year (which takes place THIS SATURDAY October 24) and would like me to pass along some great info about this year’s event. Up for auction at this year’s event are some very cool items and experiences including: 2 VIP Tickets to see Lady Gaga in concert with limo transportation to her LA concert along with a meet and greet with Lady Gaga herself, 2 Tickets to The Showgirl Must Go On in Las Vegas, NV plus a meet and greet with The Divine Miss M Bette Midler, A walk-on role on How I Met Your Mother with Neil Patrick Harris, a signed iPod by Kylie Minogue, a signed guitar from Maroon 5, 2 Tickets to any Columbia Pictures world Premiere in 2010 (where you can walk the red carpet like your favorite star), and MUCH MUCH MORE!

For me, the big prize has to be the chance to win a walk-on role on HBO’s True Blood:

All proceeds from the auction and ticket sales for the gala ball will go to the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center which provides advocacy work, seniors programs, empowering youth programs, life-saving health services and personal development courses for GLBT members of the community … which is an endeavor that I fully and wholeheartedly support. This year’s Gala & Auction promises to be a complete blast!!!

Click HERE to see the (thus far) confirmed list of celeb attendees, click HERE to see what other items/experiences are up for auction and click HERE to purchase YOUR tickets to attend the event this year. My love and respect goes out to Darion and everyone involved with this year’s event. It is my sincere hope that they are able to generate LOTS of revenue for the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center. Woot!!

First Listen: Neil Patrick Harris (As Music Meister), ‘Drives Us Bats’

NPH plays an animated Batman villain ... who sings
Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

Neil Patrick Harris, who proved he is quite a singer as both Dr. Horrible and as Tony Awards host, is guest starring as an animated villain called the Music Meister who takes on Batman in the animated series Batman: The Brave and the Bold (which airs on Cartoon Network) in an upcoming episode. Here are a few screencaps from a music video for the song Drives Us Bats which features NPH on vocals:

No, it’s not a clip from Dr. Horrible 2. Nor is it a sneak peek at How I Met Your Mother’s music-filled 100th episode. Rather, it’s an exclusive first look at Neil Patrick Harris’ show-stopping turn as the evil Music Meister in the Oct. 23 episode of Cartoon Network’s Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Warning: The following clip could drive you batty (but in a good way)!

OMG … I love this!! While the song isn’t terribly good, I love that NPH is voicing a Batman villain who sings! In fact, this entire episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold will be a musical ep! After the jump, check out the song Drives Us Bats — and as a bonus, watch the entire episode titled Mayhem of The Music Meister

Neil Patrick Harris Poses For A New Photoshoot

The man in demand
Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Neil Patrick Harris, who by pretty much all accounts did a spectacular job hosting the 2009 Emmy Awards this past Sunday night, was spotted on the campus of Fairfax High School here in SoCal posing for an as-yet-unknown photoshoot. Here are a few pics of NPH being all sexy on the photoshoot set:

While NPH was lookin’ decidedly hawt during the shoot, I noticed something that really detracts from all the sexiness that was going on. I had no idea that *NPH was a smoker:

I have to say, it’s such a turn-off when I see someone smoking. Not only is it a dirty habit, IMHO, but it’s a dangerous/deadly act that greatly threatens one’s health. NPH is enjoying so much success right now, I can’t understand why *he (or anyone, for that matter) would want to risk their health by inhaling carcinogens into their lungs. I very stupidly smoked in college and I thank my lucky stars I was able to kick the habit without much difficulty. I realize it’s not always easy to quit smoking but life is just too short to eff around with one’s health, especially when smokers are in complete control of the damage they are doing to their bodies. Whoa, didn’t mean to go all soap boxy but it’s just really upsetting to me when I see people I like/admire hurting themselves in this way. I’d love to see NPH enjoy many, many more years of success … and I’d also love to see him kick this nasty habit.

*UPDATE: It has come to my attention that NPH doesn’t smoke and was not really smoking in these photos … apparently, the cig was used as a prop for the shoot. While this is decidedly good news, I still maintain that I hate smoking. I am very happy to know that Neil Patrick Harris and his lungs are happy and healthy!!

‘Dr. Horrible’ Invades The 2009 Emmy Awards

Also, Neil Patrick Harris cements his standing as THE awards show host du jour
Monday, September 21st, 2009

The Internet phenom mini-musical/web series Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, which managed to win a Hugo Award and a Creative Emmy Award this year, invaded the 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards which aired on CBS last night. Here are a few screencaps from the short Dr. Horrible invasion of the award show:

Just when you thought television was safe, Dr. Horrible took over. The doctor, a supervillain conceived by Joss Whedon and played by Emmys host Neil Patrick Harris for the Web series “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog,” interrupted what would doubtless have been a fascinating explanation of how nominations are tabulated. Decrying “corporate entertainment” and even the awards’ “athletic and luminous host,” Horrible laid out a plan to take over television, but was quickly thwarted by nemesis Captain Hammer (Nathan Fillion). Sadly, contrary to previous reports, the short wasn’t a musical bit. The Internet series won the confusingly titled Short-Format Live-Action Special Class award at the Emmys’ Creative Arts ceremony, held separately from the televised event.

Yes, folks, Neil Patrick Harris — who hosted the Emmy Awards last night — also stars as Dr. Horrible and managed to make his role as Best.AwardsShow.Host. even funnier. In addition to this little invasion by Dr. Horrible, NPH also performed an amazing song titled Put Down the Remote to inspire viewers at home to stay tuned into the Emmy Awards show broadcast last night:

NPH really expanded on the amazing job he did hosting the Tony Awards earlier this year and really hit it out of the ballpark last night. After the jump, check out video of Dr. Horrible’s invasion of the Emmy Awards and watch NPH’s performance of Put Down the Remote

Neil Patrick Harris Does ‘New York’ Magazine

"We'd make very good parents"
Monday, September 14th, 2009

Neil Patrick Harris, who we just saw lookin’ all wet and sexy in the pages of Rolling Stone magazine over the weekend, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of New York magazine. In his coverstory interview, NPH talks about his upcoming stint as Emmy Awards host and also expresses that he and his boyfriend David Burtka would make great parents … even tho they aren’t expecting to become dads any time soon. The cover of New York magazine heralds NPH has “Hollywod’s First (Openly) Gay Breakthrough Star” but I’m really confused why they made him wear lipstick for his coverphoto. Here is NPH’s New York magazine coverphoto and some excerpts from his coverstory interview:

Despite rumors to the contrary, Neil Patrick Harris, star of How I Met Your Mother and host of this year’s Emmys, says he and partner David Burtka and are not expecting a child – yet. Still, “We’d make very good parents,” Harris, 36, tells New York Magazine. And they’re already making one very good couple. “We yin and yang very well,” he tells the magazine. “I’m just bowled over by him. I’m his forever protector, and I’m happiest when he’s happy.” But coming to terms with his sexuality in Hollywood wasn’t always so easy for the former child star of Doogie Howser, M.D. “I tried … dating different girls, being the funny, witty guy at the party,” he says. One person that helped inspire him? A gay Real World cast member. Danny Roberts, of The Real World: New Orleans, “was a unique entity at the time, as someone who was seemingly so confident in their own skin,” says Harris. As host of this year’s Emmy Awards, Harris jokes that he hoped to include the Muppets – specifically Statler and Waldorf up in the balcony – in the opening number. And while that plan didn’t pan out, the actor jokes, with self-mocking air quotes, that he’ll make this year’s show the “classy Emmys.” Tune in to the show Sept. 20 to see what he means!

I gotta say, I love the idea of NPH and David Burtka becoming parents … even tho they may not be expecting any children right now, I wouldn’t be surprised if these two do become dads sometime soon. After the jump, check out a few photos from NPH’s New York magazine photospread …
