We’ve already seen the FIRST image and the SECOND image from Miu Miu’s new Spring/Summer 09 ad campaign featuring Katie Holmes … but today we get to see the rest of the images from the campaign now that MiuMiu.com has been updated with the full set of S/S 09 ad campaign photos. Here are a few new photos of Katie Holmes trying to be as fabulously Victoria Beckham as she can for Miu Miu:

When Katie Holmes signed a deal to become the new face of fashion range Miu Miu, she didn’t have to look too far for modelling advice. In the latest images released from her new Miu Miu campaign, the actress appears to have taken posing tips from close friend Victoria Beckham. In contrast to her real-life smiley image, Mrs Cruise looks pouty and straight-faced as she reclines on various sofas and floors for the stunning shoot. The 30-year-old’s appearance in the Miu Miu Spring/Summer ‘09 campaign marks her first major advertising campaign. In the atmospheric ads, Katie poses in clothing and sunglasses from the Miu Miu brand in warm, glowing room. The high-necked dresses and tunics cover up Katie’s increasingly skinny frame. Katie alarmed fans earlier this week when her Christian Lacroix vintage dress exposed her bony breastplate and protruding collarbone. The photos were taken by acclaimed photography duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, who cited Italian film-maker Federico Fellini as their inspiration. Miu Miu said the photos portray ‘a luminous icon radiating a sense of mystery and theatricality, which evokes a certain Fellini-esque chaotic excess’. In contrast to the make-up free, pale Katie we’ve seen on the streets of New York over the last few months, the actress looks glowing in the ads with her shiny skin and smoky eyes. Her bob is also gelled back to give the impression of a much shorter haircut – a similar length to the one Victoria is currently sporting. Since meeting husband Tom Cruise in 2005, Katie has been transformed from the girl-next-door in Dawson’s Creek to A-list fashionista. While regularly winning kudos for her outfits, Katie has also been accused of stealing Victoria’s style. After having long locks for most of her career, Katie went for a ‘Pob’ cut – the Posh version of a bob – in 2007 – nine months after Victoria lost her hair extensions. While also wearing a host of designer fashion on the red carpet, Katie is also interested in designing herself and has worn several of her own creations to Hollywood events. The Batman Begins star is the latest in a list of high-profile stars to front a Miu Miu campaign. Previous Miu Miu models include French singer/actress Vanessa Paradis, Kristen Dunst, Lindsay Lohan, Drew Barrymore and Chloe Sevigny.

Oh yeah, she really does look Posh in these photos. While I miss the All-American girl next door that we all knew and loved, I don’t really hate this new, more fashionable Katie Holmes. Sure, it still looks like she is trying too hard but … I cannot fault her for trying to look as fabulous as possible. Who doesn’t love to play dress-up … and get paid for it? Last week we got our first look at Katie Holmes in the new Spring/Summer ‘09 ad campaign for Miu Miu (the ad was released on the same day that we got our first look at Victoria Beckham in her new ad campaign for Emporio Armani Women’s Underwear) and today we check out another Miu Miu ad photo from the same campaign:

The star shows her flair for the dramatic, put to excellent use in her recently-lauded Broadway turn, putting her outstretched hand to a flame.

Yes, very dramatic. I much prefer this photo to the first Miu Miu photo featuring Ms. Holmes. There is an air of Greek theater in this photo that is lacking in the first one. I dunno that the campaign will sell many articles of clothing but there is a flair in this new photo. The full ad campaign should be released soon, NY Fashion Week is nearly upon us. Between the two photos we’ve seen thus far, which one do y’all prefer?

Victoria Beckham isn’t the only A-list celebrity fashionista making headlines today with the release of a new ad campaign, Katie Holmes (Vicki B’s supposed American BFF) is also trying to steal some of the spotlight today with the release of the first photo from her new ad campaign for Miu Miu. As you may recall, we learned back in November that Katie would be appearing in the Spring/Summer ‘09 campaign for the fashion house and today we get our first look at that campaign:

This morning, Miu Miu unveiled its eagerly-anticipated spring/summer 2009 campaign starring Katie Holmes looking positively feline in one of Miuccia Prada’s graffiti-spattered day dresses. Shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott in New York last November, we’re told the idea was for Holmes to depict a “luminous icon radiating a sense of mystery and theatricality” in the images, which were inspired by the films of Fellini. Coincidentally, Holmes’ close friend Victoria Beckham is also stealing the limelight today with her first ads for Emporio Armani’s underwear line (the men’s version of which Beckham’s husband David famously provides the face – and body). Mert & Marcus are behind these too; reclining in a hotel suite in the black-and-white photographs, Beckham – who Armani lauds as a “stylish and intriguing woman” – models the label’s spring/summer 2009 collection, which comes in a sweet palette of periwinkle blue, green and pink.

It is coincidental that both ad campaigns have been released on the same day, isn’t it? I’m sure there is no rivalry at all between the ladies and the releases were not intentionally planned to clash on the same day. Katie has got a serious case of fierce face going on in this photo … she even looks a helluva lot like Posh does, don’t you think?

Same hair, same make-up. HMMM. The dress that she is modeling is pretty amazing, it’s a stunning piece of fashion … but I still have a hard time taking Katie Holmes as a serious fashion plate. Her fame has just skyrocketed to astronomical proportions since she got involved with Tom Cruise, I just cannot believe that she would be enjoying such levels of attention if she had never hooked up with Tom. Honestly, tho, she’s put in a lot of work with him and I feel is deserving of this new plateau of fame … she earned it. In any event, I suspect that we’ll be seeing the rest of Katie’s Miu Miu campaign photos when MiuMiu.com gets updated (currently, last season’s campaign photos featuring Vanessa Paradis is still on display on the site).
