Mischa Barton has worn some fugly clothes over the years … from THIS horrible polka dot peek-a-boo dress to THIS skunk-inspired ensemble. This week, she take ridiculous fugliness to a whole new level. Mischa decided to wear a pair of over sized glasses with a red and white striped outfit and, well, she looked just … horrible. Sometimes actress Mischa Barton, that mischievous miscreant of heinous celebrity fashion, struck again this weekend at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic which was held here in Los Angeles, CA yesterday. Mischa showed up at the event with what looked like a dead skunk strapped to her head in an obvious attempt to make a fashion statement. Unfortch for Mischa, the statement she made looked like a real stinker:

As you may recall, Mischa made it very public that she has decided to quit drinking but her outfit choices seem to belie that fact. Still, I hope she continues to put her best fashion foot forward … because critiquing Mischa Barton‘s fashions is far more entertaining than her attempts at acting and modeling.

Earlier this month we learned the unbelievable news that Mischa Barton has decided to sober up … but after seeing her hideous recent fashion choices, I doubted immediately that the woman had cleaned up her act. Even more troubling, Mischa was spotted recently with known trainwreck Amy Winehouse (who, herself, has trubs with substance abuse) and, well, I really didn’t believe Mischa had cleaned up her act. Today we get to see photos of Mischa Barton smoking a hand-rolled cigarette that could have tobacco in it … but I’m guessing it actually has something more weed-y in it instead:

To be fair, it’s impossible to know what exactly Barton is smoking in his joint-like hand-rolled cigarette. And, for the record, when Mischa claimed she was sobering up, she was referring to alcohol not … other stuff. If I were betting man, I’d put a lot of dough on the hunch that Mischa Barton is actually smoking the smokey smoke in these photos … cuz homegirl looks baked! Ah, I suppose once a trainwreck always a trainwreck … well, at least where Mischa is concerned.

Uh oh … look out. Two of the biggest trainwrecks around have joined forces to become new BFFs in an effort to bring ruin and utter destruction to the living world as we know it. Well … okay, maybe it’s not quite that dramatic but I’m telling you, that was pretty much the first thing that came to mind when I saw these new photos of Mischa Barton and Amy Winehouse hookin’ up together at a pub in London, England this week:

Amy Winehouse and Mischa Barton have both become more famous for their rocky personal lives than their music or movies in recent years. But after claiming their bad behaviour is behind them, the former wildchilds were spotted greeting each other at a Camden pub yesterday. Having relocated from LA to London to be with new boyfriend, DJ Ali Love, Barton bumped into Winehouse on a trip to the singer’s favourite pub, The Hawley Arms. The supposedly-reformed pair were spotted shaking hands then kissing each other on the cheek before enjoying a chat over a drink. The Rehab singer, 26, was wearing her usual style of denim shorts, vest and ballet shoes, Barton wore a patterned skirt, white T-shirt, beige waistcoat and battered boots. With their headline-making past behaviour, no doubt the two women had plenty of common ground to bond over. Winehouse is said to be clean after a high-profile battle with drug addiction, while Barton recently announced she has gone tee-total following her arrest in 2007 for driving under the influence.

On a positive note, it’s encouraging that both ladies are claiming to have cleaned up their respective acts … and to be honest, it’s been ages since we’ve seen either Mischa or Amy out and about in public lookin’ like disheveled messes (tho, Mischa‘s recent outing in that fugly Miu Miu dress really cannot be forgiven … ugh!). I can’t help but think, tho, that these two hanging out can’t be good news … but if they can stay friends in sobriety, they may be able to help each other stay clean. The sight of these two as BFFs kinda scares me (as does Amy‘s open mouth kiss on Mischa‘s chin) but they might turn out to be harmless … I mean, it’s possible, yeah?

Last weekend we read a report that claims that Mischa Barton has given up drinking alcohol for good … and today we get to see the fruits of that decision. The newly sober Mischa was spotted out and about last night wearing an outfit that, IMHO, looks like only a drunken or blind woman would ever deign to wear in public … behold:

Mischa Barton was spotted out and about in London last night with a oddly-ventilated outfit. Her patterned dress should have been pretty and elegant with it’s high collar and demure hemline, but bizarrely it had big gaping holes above and below the chest. It featured large cut-out areas, making the outfit look like a bandeau bikini attached to a skirt. However, the actress, 24, managed to carry off the dress, designed by Miu Miu, with aplomb – matching her red lipstick to the red bird motif of the fabric and toning the outfit down with some plain round-toed court shoes. Mischa spent an evening with friends at a Kensington pub before heading out to get some snacks at a pizza takeaway.

Yeah, this outfit makes no sense to me but … as long as the girl is sober, I guess I can forgive her hideous sense of fashion. I’m not sure why Mischa had to party with her friends at a pub if she’s newly sober but … I guess Hollywood “It” Girls will be Hollywood “It” Girls. So … this outfit … what do YOU think?

Mischa Barton, who just last Summer was admitted to a psychiatric ward after she suffered a mental breakdown and then who’s TV series The Beautiful Life: TBL was canceled shortly thereafter (after only 2 episodes), appears to be trying to get her life back in order these days. Mischa is featured in a new promo ad campaign for fashion designer Philipp Plein … here is one of her new photos:

She favours a grungy look these days, but Mischa Barton scrubbed up rather nicely for a new fashion shoot. The actress was sleek and stylish as she posed alongside a zebra in a kooky photoshoot for designer Philipp Plein. But the star appeared to have every tiny imperfection glossed over by the ubiquitous Hollywood airbrush … Instead of acting Mischa, 24, has found work advertising and endorsing products. Her latest campaign was photographed at the James Goldstein Mansion, built by architect John Lautner in the 1960′s in the Hollywood Hills. ‘Being in the limelight for a young and beautiful girl, the looks of course always get a lot of attention, Mischa Barton got a lot and learned to live with her fame,’ said Plein. ‘For me it was the big challenge to again show her as a diva, a rock n roll Goddess.’ He said the plan was to present Mischa in the style of Brigitte Bardot ‘with big hair, strong black make-up on the eyes and nude on the face as a glamorous and sexy rock n roll diva.’ The campaign will be seen worldwide in the international issues of top fashion magazines.

I mean … I don’t get the zebra … but this photo is heaps better than the last batch of photos we saw of Mischa Barton back in March (you know, those photos where Mischa‘s fingers were digging into her nose searching for boogies to dig out). Mischa Barton, who hasn’t really done much in recent months to warrant all that much attention (especially since her most recent TV series got canceled after only 2 episodes), finally did something this week that is worth discussing … homegirl, while taking a moment to enjoy some alone-time by herself at Coldwater Canyon Park in Beverly Hills, CA, decided the time was right to go digging for stuff in her nose … natch, while the paparazzi were snapping away:

Oh, Mischa … remember when you had a promising career full of hope and wonder? Now, all you’ve got is a nose full of boogies and a dirty finger. Bless your heart. It looks like she was reading a script in between digging sessions so mebbe she’s got a new job on the horizon? Sad news for fans of Ashton Kutcher‘s new primetime drama The Beautiful Life: TBL … all 3 of you. The CW has decided to cancel the series after airing only 2 eps. Plagued by poor ratings from the start, the drama which stars Mischa Barton didn’t really have a chance. And so, we raise our plastic utensils and give a hearty Peace the Spork Out to The Beautiful Life: TBL:

The new fall season has claimed its first casualty with the cancellation of “The Beautiful Life: TBL”. Although 13 episodes have been ordered for the first season, The CW on Friday, September 25 confirmed that it has opted to pull the plug on the Ashton Kutcher-produced drama series after airing only two episodes. The show chronicling the lives of young models in the fast lane has been pulled off the schedule effective immediately. Production of the show has been shut down. Despite the fact that the series has been filmed to its seventh episode, the network has no plans to air any of the remaining finished episodes. The cancellation news didn’t come in as a shock since “Beautiful Life” had a poor rating right from the start. The September 16 premiere only managed to draw in 1.4 million viewers, and this Wednesday, September 23, episode barely scraped above 1 million viewers. To make it worse, the latter one generated a 0.5 rating in the adult demo. There is yet word on what will fill the 9 P.M. Wednesday time period. Announcement for a replacement is expected to come from The CW at least by Monday, September 28. Rumor has it, the network, which recently picked up “Fly Girls” and a Tinsley Mortimer docusoap, may replace it with reruns of “Melrose Place”.

Actually, The CW sent out a press release late yesterday announcing that “encores” of new Melrose Place eps that air on Tuesday night will reair on Wednesday nights, in the time slot that was allotted for TBL. To be honest, I never watched the show so I don’t know if it sucked or not personally … but I haven’t read a good thing about it. HMMM … I wonder if Mischa, who has been a bit of trainwreck this Summer knows about the cancellation yet. Mischa Barton is speaking out for the first time since she was hauled away to the psychiatric ward of Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, CA last month after it was reported she suffered a mental breakdown. Just weeks after she was hospitalized in LA, Mischa made her way to NYC to begin production on her new CW TV series The Beautiful Life (in the role of a fashion model with a penchant for drugs). Time Out New York magazine scored the exclusive first interview with Mischa wherein she explains in her own words what happened last month. Here are excerpts from her interview that focus on her mental breakdown:

As part of its Fall Fashion issue, on stands September 10, Time Out New York met with Mischa Barton for her first in-depth interview since being placed under alleged “involuntary psychiatric hold” at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in July. Other medical issues nearly delayed filming of her New York–set TV series, The Beautiful Life: TBL. Barton, 23, plays model Sonja Stone, a drugged-up diva trying to get her career back on track (real life, meet show!). Yet during our talk—on the couch in a Tribeca photo studio—the O.C. starlet looks healthy, sits tall and comes off as self-aware and self-deprecating …

A lot of people are watching you now, speculating you were in rehab back in July.
Here’s what happened: Before the show started, I was traveling abroad for contract stuff and I went through a terrible surgery—a wisdom tooth surgery, all four removed. It was a nightmare. I’ve never had surgery before—it all went wrong and I had to have a second surgery and it almost delayed shooting because it was a nightmare to me, because I couldn’t deal with the thought of not getting there on time. So with the travel, and surgery and prep for the show—it was hell.

Is this when you were checked into Cedars?
Yeah, I went through a tough spot where everything compounded on me, and it was like a perfect storm, like everything was happening to me at once. The show, travel and then this fairly routine surgery that went wrong—it’s still just healing. But I had to get through it without proper painkillers because I couldn’t take those during work. So it’s been a nightmare.

How did you end up in a psychiatric hospital?
I was down in the dumps about everything there for a while. Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom about things and have to get the most stressed-out just to feel better again. I got completely stressed-out and couldn’t handle everything, and now I feel really in control.

Was it an official nervous breakdown? Drugs?
I don’t know. I don’t know. I had a friend who had a quasi–nervous breakdown, but I’m not sure it’s the same thing. I’m not sure I’m capable of a full-on nervous breakdown, but it was pretty bad. It didn’t last that long. It was more about the pain. I have a newfound respect for people who have chronic pain. I started getting migraines.

How long were you in Cedars?
They don’t keep you in the hospital. I wasn’t there very long.

Did you sit around sharing feelings and making mosaics—that kind of thing actually helped someone I know who was in an institution.
Not really.

Did they teach you how to deal with the pain?
Not really. I just wanted to get back to work. The doctor told me I was lucky I didn’t lose feeling in my lips and face, which would have been horrifying and couldn’t act properly. My mom was like, “Now’s a good time to get it done, before the show.” And it was the worst time to do it.

What was it like for your mom?
[Rolls eyes] I don’t know. [Looks away] It was miserable for everyone. But I really don’t know.

Is your mom the one who admitted you into the hospital involuntarily?
[Nods yes and rolls eyes again] I’ll tell you that story but not the whole world. The funny thing is, if all this happened in New York, no one would care.

People would be like, “Nervous breakdown? I had one yesterday too. Where are we going to brunch?”
[Laughs] Yes, exactly, New York lets you be who you are, and people aren’t as judgmental. I’m so glad to be back here.

HMMM … I have to say all the “eye rolling” sounds as if she doesn’t understand the severity of her dangerous behavior. Where it not for her mother who wouldn’t let her “be who [she] is” who knows what could’ve happened to her. Earlier in the interview she mentions how she’s been going to nightclubs (with designer Zac Posen) since she was 15 because she “grew up in New York and [she] grew up fast” … it seems that she didn’t quite learn all the lessons that she prolly should have. To be honest, I’m glad that she seems to be OK now and that she seems more focused but … I dunno … I really fear that her reckless behavior might have very unfortunate circumstances some day. Eye rolling aside, I truly hope she has learned to curb her dangerous behavior … for her own good.
