Miley Cyrus‘s bong smoking video came out on Friday, over the weekend her father Billy Ray Cyrus apologized for her actions and earlier today we learned that Miley has already inspired huge sales of the hallucinogenic herb Salvia … right on cue, the folks at Next Media have released an animated video that chronicles Miley‘s bong video scandal:

In fine fashion, this new video not only covers the bong video but it also makes reference to Miley‘s controversial Vanity Fair photoshoot and the rumors that her mother Tish Cyrus had an extramarital affair with Bret Michaels … leading to her divorce from Billy Ray. Last week we got our first look at video of 18-year old Miley Cyrus smoking a water bong and it was widely reported that she and her friends were smoking a legal-in-some-States hallucinogenic natural herb called Salvia. Over the weekend, Miley‘s father Billy Ray Cyrus tweeted his disapproval over his daughter’s actions. Today we learn from TMZ that sales of Salvia have shot up considerably since that Miley video was released … clearly, as a product spokesperson, Miley can still get her fans to buy the things she endorses:

Miley Cyrus is now the inadvertent celebrity endorser of salvia — because ever since that video of her smoking a bong full of it came out … we’re told sales of the herbal drug are sky high. According to people who deal, legally, in salvia divinorum … sales have increased since Friday — in some cases up to 3 times the usual tally. TMZ spoke with several head shops in the Los Angeles area and we’re told — not only have sales jumped — but many of the customers specifically asked for “the stuff Miley was smoking” … While Miley’s experimentation is generating curiosity in the hallucinogen — one smoke shop employee tells us, “Salvia is one of those things that you only try once because it is so intense.” Another impact of the Miley video — as we reported — is renewed discussion about banning salvia in California. It is already illegal in 15 states.

None of this should be at all surprising to anyone. While so many people are quick to condone Miley‘s actions as “legal” because she’s “an adult now”, it’s very obvious that she wields quite a bit of sway over not only her fans but pretty much anyone who’s ever heard her name. People see the video of Miley having a blast smoking this stuff and then they think, Hey, I wanna have a good time, too. It’s very true that Miley Cyrus is free to do whatever legal thing she wants but young kids are very smart … they hear a lot … especially when it comes to people they look up to and admire. It’d be a terrible shame if young kids, not old enough to smoke anything legally, got their hands on this stuff and ended up hurting themselves just because Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montanan did it first.

On Friday we got to see video of 18-year old Miley Cyrus smokin’ a bong full of something (reportedly a legal hallucinogenic herb called Salvia) and today we get to hear from Miley‘s father Billy Ray Cyrus on the controversy. As you may be well aware, Billy Ray and wife Tish Cyrus are currently divorcing … so in Billy Ray’s tweet message about the video, he implies that the fault for Miley‘s experimentation is not his because “there is so much beyond” his control. While Billy Ray isn’t outright blaming Tish for Miley‘s indiscretion, the subtext is pretty clear. To be honest, I highly doubt that Miley‘s decision to experiment with … stuff … has anything at all to do with Billy Ray‘s control. The girl is a millionaire, she’s gonna do whatever the Hell she wants irregardless of what her parents have to say about anything. That being said, divorce can be really hard on kids … and 18 or not, Miley is still a kid. She may be acting out in an effort to win attention from her parents. Whatever the case may be, here’s hoping both Billy Ray and Tish can be there to parent their child … well, as best they can.

Miley Cyrus is 18, y’all …. and that means she is growin’ up. It also means that she is ready to experiment with new things on camera … for example, TMZ managed to get hold of a video recorded around Miley‘s recent 18th birthday that clearly shows her smoking something from a water bong (a device usually associated with marijuana use). Now, it’s not unusual for kids her age to experiment with things … but it is kinda unusual for a celebrity of her magnitude to be DUMB enough to experiment with drug paraphernalia on camera:

Miley Cyrus celebrated her 18th birthday by experimenting with a bong and catching a case of the giggles. The video was shot during a party at Miley’s L.A. area home 5 days after her 18th birthday. According to a source connected with Miley … the smoke filling the bong is a natural herb called Salvia which has psychedelic qualities. Possession of salvia is legal in California. As for the video … the source tells us it was shot by one of Miley’s friends — and theory is that someone stole or copied the video from that friend’s camera.

Yeah … I’m not sure I’m buying this “Salvia” business … but it is possible. NPR just did a story on the popularity of the legal herb among teens and young adults. What makes me personally suspicious that marijuana is being smoked in this bong is the very prominent appearance of breakfast cereal in the video (the Bush song playing the background is another red flag). Munchies are also usually associated with weed. BUT, whatever the Hell Miley is smokin’, she’s an idiot for doing so ON CAMERA! It’s clear she trusts the friend recording her and mebbe it wasn’t her friend who leaked the video … but in this day and age, if you do something like this on camera … it’s going to make its way to the Internets … and the Internets never forget. On-again / Off-again couple Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth were so off-again this Summer that the couple broke up twice … first in June and then, for serious, in August. Well, the off-again nature of Liley‘s torrid romance is off-again … er, meaning that the couple are on-again. Got it? Miley has been away from SoCal for the past few months working on new films in Detroit, MI and Paris, France … but this week, she returned home to LA and the waiting lips of apparent on-again boyfriend Liam Hemsworth. Absence makes the heart go fonder – just ask Miley Cyrus. The 17-year-old was caught in a very passionate clinch with her on-again boyfriend Liam Hemsworth, 20, in Los Angeles yesterday. The Disney star was dropping the Australian actor off after an outing together, with the couple’s farewell kissing session lingering for more than ten minutes. Hemsworth’s spokesperson revealed the pair, who first met on the set of teen drama The Last Song in 2009, had split last month But it’s clear their separation is most certainly over. The first sign they had rekindled their romance came over the weekend when they were spotted running errands together. An eyewitness told People: ‘Miley and Liam kept smiling and seemed to really enjoy their afternoon together. They acted like they had missed each other, kept chatting and seemed to be catching up. Back in June we heard that Last Song costars Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth, who met and “fell in love” on the set of their film last year, had broken up … but it turns out that the couple were merely on the verge of breaking up. Today we learn from E! News‘s Ted Casablancas that Miley and Liam kinda broke up at the end of the Summer but then kinda stayed together for a while but have, at last, finally broken up for reals! Still, I know some folks out there are very interested in Miley Cyrus‘s private life so there you have it. Homegirl is now single in Detroit Rock City. Personally, I think it’s her loss. Liam Hemsworth is a fine hunk of spunk and I can appreciate how a strapping young lad like himself might like to be in the company of fine young ladies while his popstar/actress/whatever girlfriend is out of sight. Just a few days ago, Miley Cyrus shocked her fans by pretending to kiss a female backup dancer during her performance on a recent episode of Britain’s Got Talent which aired in the UK. LMAOOOO! As much as I’d love to believe the ridiculous details of this split are true, I’m thinking there is more than just a little imaginative fiction going on here. It should be noted, tho, that since both Miley and Liam are relatively young, it’s entirely possible that they’ve just grown tired of one another and are ready to move on. Whether or not a split occurred due to a jealous outburst is anyone’s guess … but I tend to believe where there’s smoke, there’s fire.
