A tour bus has crashed on Interstate 85, injuring several people and killing one. It happened at mile marker 55, that’s right in front of the rest area. Sources tell CBS 6 it is the tour bus of singer Miley Cyrus and that her driver has died in the crash. According to her Cyrus’ website her next concert is this Sunday in Greensboro, North Carolina. Our Senior Reporter Wayne Covil is on the scene right now and tells us Miley Cyrus was not on the bus and is not at the scene. We’ll have a live report on CBS 6 News at Noon.

Miley Cyrus’ tour bus driver was reportedly killed last night after a bus, believed to be the one she usually travels in, flipped over on a highway in Virginia … We’re told 9 people were injured in the crash. The 9 injuries, we’re told, are minor. So far we do not know the identities of the injured. A man at the scene says the bus appears to have drifted off the road for a fairly long stretch before tipping over … According to officials, Miley was on a bus that was part of a 4-vehicle caravan which included the bus that crashed. We’re told Miley’s bus was not involved in the crash.. Officials also confirmed the driver of the bus was the fatality, and one other person was transported to a local hospital due to injury. Officials are investigating whether the driver died before the crash or after — which could explain why the bus drifted off the road. Officials also tell us the roads were really wet from overnight rain. A rep from Dinwiddie Fire and EMS tells us the bus had been carrying Miley’s concert production crew — there were 14 passengers on-board.

Wow … this is just really horrible. No matter what anyone may think about Miley Cyrus and her music I’m sure no one wants to see her hurt … I’m very happy that she was not injured in this accident but my deepest condolences go out to the person who reportedly lost their life. I’m sure we’ll be hearing more from this story … hopefull we’ll be hearing good news soon.

Miley Cyrus has been battling the swine flu. That’s according to Cyrus’ friend and former Hannah Montana co-star Cody Linley. During an interview with Reelz Channel Thursday night, Linley said the pop star canceled her recent concert in Utah because she fell ill. He said he talked to Cyrus that same day, which was about a week ago. “She said she felt really bad. She really didn’t understand what was happening but she just got really sick and she had to run off stage because things were just, like, on her heart too heavy,” he said. A day later, he says, Cyrus told him the diagnosis. “Then the next day she told me she had the swine flu,” he said. Linley said he hadn’t talked to Cyrus “in a few days.” Early Friday, he said Cyrus has since recovered from her illness. “She’s doing alright now. She’s better. She’s healthy,” he said. Linley is perhaps best known for his recurring role as Jake Ryan on Disney’s “Hannah Montana.” He was also a contestant on the seventh season of “Dancing With the Stars.” Calls to Cyrus’ reps have not yet been returned.

Blah!! What at time for Miley to NOT be tweeting on Twitter. I can only imagine the genius messages Miley might’ve been posting regarding her illness had she not quit Twitter before coming down with the swine flu. It remains to be seen if Miley’s people will confirm or deny this swine flu report from her co-star but the worst part is that we have to wait. If Miley hadn’t quit Twitter she’d've prolly been tweeting all about her swine flu illness. Blah.

UPDATE: Welp, Miley has finally chimed in on this report … it is now being claimed that Miley doesn’t have swine flu, just a case of strep throat:

Miley Cyrus says she has not been battling the swine flu despite what her former Hannah Montana co-star Cody Linley said on camera. On Friday, Cyrus spoke with Billy Bush on his radio show and said she never had H1N1. The performer said she just had a bad case of strep throat and was “really, really sick.” “I’m much better now, thank goodness,” she said.

Uh huh … I’m gonna go ahead and try to take this statement at face value … but I dunno … even if she really did have swine flu, I do not believe that her people would let her admit it. HMMMM … what do y’all think … does Miley really have swine flu? Imma hafta see a doctor’s note before I believe anything ;)

Although Miley Cyrus was only, um, 5 when Sex and the City debuted on HBO back in 1998, the teen is apparently a big fan and has landed herself a guest-starring role in the upcoming movie sequel. The 16-year-old Disney darling, who recently wrapped on the film The Last Song, is now confirmed to appear in the sure-to-be-a-hit flick. Don’t look for Miley to take on a big role a la Jennifer Hudson’s personal assistant character in the first movie. She’ll instead be making a cameo as herself and will have a big showdown with Kim Cattrall’s Samantha when they show up wearing the same dress to an event (horror!), says a report. In the script, Mario Cantone’s character, Anthony, reportedly says: “Mother of God. She is wearing the same dress as Hannah Montana.” Miley — who’s not expected to utter any lines in the film — is expected to shoot her scene on Oct. 16.

Blech. I, personally, think this is horrid idea but at least it’s only a cameo appearance … it could’ve been MUCH worse. As I recall, Miley famously started blabbing to media outlets that she was a big fan of Sex and the City when it aired on TV … which would mean she was a pre-pubescent girl who’s parents let her watch an adult television series that talked in a very frank manner about all manners of sexual escapades … none of which should be at all surprising considering the way the Cyrus family have raised their little meal ticket. But I digress … it would appear that Miley’s blabbing inspired the filmmakers to put her in the film … the little minx is pretty smart, don’t you think? Nearly two weeks after Miley Cyrus quit Twitter, John Mayer sounds off what he has in mind about her abrupt departure from the micro-blogging site. To MTV News the rock singer shares, “I think she’s smart enough to realize there is some interference of the brain that she doesn’t want to deal with. Artists have enough to deal with.” “She’s a child, she’s a fantastic artist – I think there’s enough mental real estate being taken up by dealing with all of that stuff,” John continues stating. “For whatever reason, I am old enough and smart enough to tell someone to go fuck themselves if they tell me to go fuck myself. I think if you’re in Miley’s situation, it might take a little too much time to play goalie for your own heart and mind. So I totally get it.” “Miley is somebody who’s made a bunch of money doing something she loves. Most people do things they hate, for less money. If somebody can re-purpose something that somebody loves doing for a lot of money, in order to make a little bit of that money, they’re gonna do it,” John goes on explaining. “So nobody hates Miley Cyrus; they’re just picking up on her brand, re-purposing it, to try to make a little bit of Miley cash. It’s damaging people’s minds. Imagine Shannen Doherty with a Twitter account, back in the ‘90210′ days. That would’ve just flat-out killed her.” Asked if he has ever thought of deleting his Twitter account, John jokingly tells MTV News, “I would rather tell the world to eat my asshole before I would delete my Twitter account.” Miley Cyrus deleted her Twitter account in a sudden on Wednesday, October 7 and provided no single explanation for fans. She later on released a YouTube video in which she rapped her reason for quitting the popular social networking site, citing the need for privacy.

HMMM … when Mayer says that Miley is a child, he is absolutely correct … I don’t know that I agree with much more, tho. It’s very clear that he is a big Twitter lover (in fact, it is reported that his fervent tweeting is what killed his relationship with Jennifer Aniston earlier this year) and it’s obvs that he loves talking about it as much as possible. I love that John is sticking up for Miley Cyrus tho … in the grand scheme of life it’s such a non-issue but to have John Mayer chime in with his $0.02 makes all the difference in the world.

OK, so she’s no threat to LL Cool J or Eminem or even T-Pain, but Miley Cyrus knows how to rap a little bit in a corny-cool old-school style and she knows how to milk a moment like nobody’s business. As we reported yesterday, Miley pulled the plug on her Twitter account and now she spills the deets to the beats. A sample:

Miley Cyrus goes mia from the Twitter world. The teen sensation is reported to have deleted her account after being asked by her rumored boyfriend Liam Hemsworth, who apparently doesn’t have his own account. At the time of writing, Miley’s Twitter can’t be opened. “Sorry, the page doesn’t exist,” read the announcement put on her account. Miley’s last tweet before her Twitter goes inactive read, “FYI Liam doesn’t have a twitter and he wants ME to delete mine with good reason.” Official statement is yet to be made by Miley herself or her people regarding the report. Liam also hasn’t addressed the matter.

For the record, I only know about Miley’s tweets this week because I followed her account for, uh, work purposes … yeah, that’s it … work purposes. LOL!! Well, if anything can be gleaned from the abrupt end of her Twitter communication with fans it’s that she really did seem to confirm that she and Liam Hemsworth are “going out” or at the very least are “very close friends”. In all honesty, Miley really didn’t provide much entertainment value to Twitter … so I won’t miss her … but I’m sure there are legions of Miley fans who are this morning crying tears of loss into their Jonas Brothers pillowcases.

To be honest, I think they make a cute couple … sure Liam isn’t quite as hawt as Justin Gaston is but, meh, I guess he’ll do for now. I’m actually surprised that Liley are still together one month after they got caught kissing in public … little Miss Miley is a bit of a boyeater, I don’t expect they’ll last much longer. She is about to hit the road for a new tour so I’m sure Liam’s days of being Miley’s boyfriend are numbered. Hope he enjoys it while it lasts.

It looks like Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are more than just friendly costars. Last Wednesday, as Cyrus bid Australian actor Liam Hemsworth goodbye at the Nashville airport, the two kissed – and were “full-on making out,” says Alex Emanuel, a New York actor who was a few feet away from the couple and saw Cyrus, 16, act “as giddy as a schoolgirl.” Hemsworth jumped out of Cyrus’s truck with his luggage and headed for the terminal doors when “she jumped into his arms and threw her arms around his neck and kissed him and leaned back and he was dipping her,” says Emanuel. “It was like a scene out of an old movie where the guy’s getting on a train and they’re saying their goodbyes.” The two actors recently wrapped the film The Last Song (also starring Kelly Preston and Greg Kinnear) in Tybee, Georgia, and attended the film’s wrap party together on Aug. 16. According to Cyrus’ Twitter posts, she is maintaining her single status. “I do not have a boyfriend,” she writes. But she says shhe’s been teaching Hemsworth a thing or two about Southern eats. “@mommytish and @auntedi and I are introducing the aussie to cracker barrel!!! Yummyyy :)” Cyrus wrote about taking Hemsworth to the restaurant chain. She also revealed they like to stay in and nosh in front of the TV. Her Aug. 14th Tweet: “I kinda want to go see ‘The Time Traveler’s Wife’ but I think I’ll just sit around and eat sushi and watch “Liar Liar” with Liam :)” Cyrus’ publicist had no comment.

Dang, girl! Miley went from being involved with Justin Gaston, to being involved with Nick Jonas and now Liam Hemsworth all in the span of just three months. Homegirl moves fast! She must go thru lots of chap stick, damn. Well, I guess we are now witnessing the birth of Liley … which follows in the tradition of Niley and Jiley. Let’s see how long this one lasts … any guesses?

She’s just announced she has ‘reconnected’ with her ex-boyfriend Nick Jonas following the break-down of her romance with Justin Gaston. But from the look of these photographs neither was on Miley Cyrus’s mind yesterday. Her shirt transparent in the sea water, Miley was pictured passionately kissing her co-star Liam Hemsworth while filming The Last Song in Savannah. As the cameras rolled the two ran into the waves, with Liam picking up a laughing Miley and swinging her around. And 16-year-old Miley certainly enjoyed filming the flirty scenes with the tall, young Aussie who rolled off the Neighbours production line.

Oh yeah … it looks like tough work. Shoot, I say get it gurl! If you can make millions by frolicking in the surf with a hot guy AND you have to kiss him over and over again … um, you go for it. At least Miley’s “reconnected” beau Nick Jonas was bizzy performing in the UK to worry too much about what Miley was being paid to do with Liam in Savannah. As for Justin Gaston, well, I suspect he’s off writing plaintive love songs somewhere — paying very close attention to what Miley is doing in Savannah. I really hope we get to hear one soon! Oh and Miley … don’t work too hard … Jesus is watching ;)
