Yesterday morning we awoke to the news that Madonna and hubby Guy Ritchie have decided to divorce after 7 1/2 years of marriage but that doesn’t mean that Madonna was going to put the brakes on her Sticky & Sweet World Tour. Maddy was scheduled to perform in Boston, MA last night — the same day she confirmed the divorce news — and some people thought she might postpone or otherwise take some time away from the public spotlight, if for just a moment. No such thing happened. Madonna took to the stage as scheduled and by all accounts rocked it out as if nothing were amiss in her life … tho, a curious comment ahead of her song Miles Away (which was reportedly inspired by Guy Ritchie) seemed, at least to some concert goers, to be a tiny dig at soon-to-be ex-hubby Guy:

Madonna took to the stage in Boston Wednesday – the same day she announced the demise of her seven-and-a-half year marriage – but kept mum on her marital woes. The 50-year-old singer tore through her athletic, two-hour set with her usual enthusiasm, as 30,000 fans at the TD Bank North Garden cheered her on. The closest Madonna came to mentioning her soon-to-be-ex, Guy Ritchie, or her marriage came while introducing the song, “Miles Away.” As she has in previous shows on her Sticky and Sweet Tour, she dedicated the song to the “emotionally retarded.” “You may know a few people like that,” she said. “God knows I do” … as the mother-of-three copes with her very public split, Madonna’s fans are rallying around her. “On the day she announces her divorce from a guy she really did love, all the die-hard fans are here to support her,” said Boston concert-goer Peggy Rose. “[We] love her no matter what.”
Yeah, I think it’s pretty safe to say that Madonna will be absolutely fine in the wake of her split from hubby Guy. Pretty much everything in Madonna’s life seems to operate on her schedule to her satisfaction. I don’t really think that she is the type of person to allow things to happen in her life without her approval. Madonna is made of the sort of stern stuff of legend, not to get too hyperbolic here, and it seems to me that she will have no problem carrying on successfully no matter what major changes come her way. I suspect that Maddy and Guy will end up working thru the legalities of their divorce without much nastiness. As for the kids, well, they seem pretty used to spending their time with one parent or the other already so, sad to say, the physicality of their parents’ divorce might not affect them too much. I can see how Madge and Guy may stay friendly even after the split. I still think the break-up is very sad overall but my guess is that both parties will move forward cordially and expeditiously, wrapping up the whole matter sooner prolly than most people think. That just seems the way that Madonna operates.
