Hilary Duff’s NHL-playing fiancé, Mike Comrie, knows how to give good ice. A source close to the Edmonton Oilers center, 29, tells us that the engagement ring he gave the former Disney star, 22, cost—gulp—$1 million. The source tells us that Comrie bought the14-karat princess-cut sparkler in Las Vegas. After two years of dating, Comrie popped the question while he and Duff were on a recent vacation in Hawaii. A wedding isn’t the only thing these two have in the works. Our source also tells us the pair are close to buying a $10 million home in Beverly Hills. (While he probably takes home a nice paycheck from the Oilers, Comrie also happens to be an heir to Canadian home furnishings retail empire, The Brick.) A rep for Duff declined to comment. Comrie has proven himself to be a generous beau. Just a few months after they became a couple in 2007, he reportedly bought his ladylove a $100,000 Mercedes.

Yowza!! Yeah, we knew that Mike was very generous with Hilary and this phat ring is further proof of that generosity. I’ve always liked these two as a couple and I am thrilled for them. Tho, I’m actually very surprised how flashy Hilary was with her ring last night … considering she did everything she could to hide it when Hila-rie were departing Hawaii after their vacay. In any event … congrats to the happy couple!! Now the countdown begins to the day they say I Do.

Hilary was well aware of the paparazzi presence at the airport as the couple tried to leave so she did her best to try and hide the big, fat diamond she was wearing on her finger … apparently, Hilary was feeling more shy at the airport than she was on the balcony of the couple’s hotel. She did manage to inadvertently flash her ring tho — check out the size of her new engagement rock after the jump …

Oh yeah, that’s a nice piece of ice she’s got blingin’ on her finger, yo! Comrie did a great job with this ring. There’s been no word on when Hila-rie plan to actually tie the knot but I’m sure now that Hil is home with her family, plans can begin to take form for the happy nuptials. I bet the couple will be wed by the end of the year … what do y’all think?

Yes, I’m certain that Hilary was very happy and wanted to do whatever she could to show Mike just how happy she was … I would presume that she would want to make him happy, too ;) It’s not totally clear what is going on in these photos but I suppose it’s possible that nothing untoward is taking place, that Hil was looking for something in these photos … her keys perhaps, her phone? While it’s very likely the other thing that you think is going on is actually going on here, it’s a totally natural response between a happy couple lookin’ to get married. News that she got engaged to her boyfriend of more than two years while vacationing in Maui this week. Duff’s mom seemingly laughed off reports of her daughter’s engagement this week (just like the couple themselves did a year and a half ago), but we’re guessing that was before she caught a load of pictures seemingly catching the 29-year-old Comrie at his very moment of question popping. There’s no word yet on a wedding date for the happy couple. Congrats, you two!

The 24th AIDS Walk New York, the annual walkathon that raises money for local AIDS service organizations, took place in Manhattan on Sunday. Organizers estimate that more than 45,000 people attended, raising as much as $5.6 million. Many participants walked in honor of people who they had lost to HIV/AIDS: a brother, a sister, a friend. Monique Parker came to pay tribute to her brother Anthony who passed away in 2005 at age 45. She explained that it had become a tradition for her to attend the event. A number of family members and friends had joined her in her homage to Anthony. Minerva Velasquez came in memory of her sister Myriam who died of AIDS back in 1994, leaving two sons behind her. “It’s a celebration for me. We honor the good times spent together, especially the fun moments,” Velasquez said. “My sister was truly a very funny woman and I want her to be remembered that way. She never lost her humor until the very end.” Since its inception in 1986, the funds raised by AIDS Walk New York have benefited Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC) – a not-for-profit, volunteer-supported and community-based organization that has been a leader in the fight against AIDS – and dozens of other tri-state HIV/AIDS service organizations. AIDS Walks allow service organizations to be accessible to anyone who is HIV positive, even people with little or no financial means, which helps local communities prevent the spread of the disease. Participants met at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday and braved the drizzle and wind in Central Park, right by the Sheep Meadow (south of 72nd Street) where the walk started. The opening ceremony featured actress and singer Hilary Duff, Carson Kressley (“Queer Eye for the Straight Guy”) and Brooke Smith (“Grey’s Anotomy”). In addition, the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus – who greeted attendees with a “Welcome ladies and gentlemen and everyone in between” – were there to interpret popular songs such as the famous “Dancing Queen” by the band ABBA, which did not fail to cheer up the crowd before the beginning of the 6.2-mile walk. Participants started walking through Central Park at 10 a.m. all the way up to 110th street – Cathedral Parkway – and down Riverside Drive before finishing up back in the park on 72nd street. Volunteers were cheering walkers and giving out free refreshments and snacks all along the way. The crowd was very diverse: young, old, gay, straight, black, Caucasian, Latino and the general atmosphere was very friendly.

Because of the struggling economy, estimates on funds raised by this year’s AIDS Walk New York were set very low … the $5.6 million was a number that far exceeded what organizers were hoping for. Said Dr. Marjorie Hill, CEO of Gay Men’s Health Crisis: “Today’s powerful results show that tough times, indeed, will not break our stride.” Congrats, kudos and much thanks goes out to those folks who participated in yesterday’s AIDS Walk. Until a cure can be found, we must not slow our resolve to help raise funds and awareness to battle this deadly disease. I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it … much love and respect goes out to the celebs who use their fame for great causes like this. It says a lot that folks would take time out of their bizzy schedules to participate in important events such as this. Please keep up the great work!!

You will note in the third pic, Hilary plants a tender kiss on Mike’s hunky chest as they waited for their car to be brought around by the valet. Altogether now, AWWWWWWWWWWWW! They do make a very sweet couple together … it’s so nice to see that they’ve managed to keep things together, without any hint of incident, over the past couple of years. I had my doubts that Hila-rie would stay together for the long haul … but here they are, continuing to long haul ;) It’s not totally clear how long these two will be on vacay together but I hope they’re able to enjoy themselves down there for a while longer. They look happy and so in lurve. Do it up, Hila-rie! Enjoy!!

… bestowing the honor of Top TRL Music Video of All Time to Britney Spears’s debut video Baby … One More Time. Here are a few pics of some of the pop stars who made their way into the MTV Studios in Times Square for the TRL Finale event and a run-down of the show overall:

It was like old times in MTV’s Times Square studio. There were superstars everywhere you looked, frantic stagehands darting about, and down below — packed against police barricades — screaming kids … lots of screaming kids. On Sunday night (November 16), after 10 years and more than 2,500 episodes, MTV’s legendary “TRL” bid adieu to the airwaves with “Total Finale Live,” a positively packed three-hour party that was as much about celebrating memories from the past as it was creating ones for the future. It was a livewire, unpredictable and — fittingly — star-studded send-off for a show that prided itself in being all those things. It was a night full of big-time performances, big-name guest stars and nostalgic trips down memory lane. It was the kind of proper, celebratory goodbye that most of MTV’s biggest programs (be it “Jackass” or “Beavis and Butt-head” or even “The Osbournes”) don’t actually get, which sort of makes sense, considering that “TRL” launched the careers of today’s biggest stars, reimagined the concept of live television and, whether you realize it or not, probably defined a generation. A who’s who of “TRL” alumni rocked stages both inside and out of the studio, starting with Beyoncé, who, backed by a cracking live band, poured her heart and soul into “If I Were a Boy” and then flipped the switch and tore through muscled up versions of “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” and “Crazy in Love.” Fall Out Boy (sans bassist Pete Wentz, who was with his wife Ashlee Simpson as she reportedly went into labor) followed her, braving the chilly New York night to shred on a flatbed truck parked in the heart of Times Square. Wentz even got some new-dad advice from Good Charlotte’s Joel Madden on the show. Later in the night, a trio of hip-hop heavyweights — Ludacris, Nelly and Snoop Dogg — performed their greatest “TRL” hits, then joined forces on the Doggfather’s “Drop It Like It’s Hot.” Former “TRL” mainstays the Backstreet Boys took a nostalgic run at “I Want It That Way,” and 50 Cent — who, in true Fiddy fashion, kept show producers waiting until the very last minute — pounded his way through “In Da Club” and his current hit, “Get Up.” (Backstage, he had some choice words for Kanye West and Donald Trump.) And though they didn’t perform, tons of other stars stopped by to pay their respects. Justin Timberlake chuckled as clips of his frosted-tipped ‘NSYNC past played on flat-screen TVs in the studio. Taylor Swift clutched a “TRL” yearbook that she got signed by everyone in attendance. Diddy — who appeared on the show more than anyone else — did a bit of hosting, a bit of joking and (of course) a bit of plugging for his new fragrance, I Am King, and the upcoming Notorious B.I.G. biopic “Notorious.” And, in a move that could only happen on live television, Kid Rock wandered around with a stogie and a glass of beer, then greeted a female admirer in the audience with: “Hi, baby, you’re much too young for me.” There were phoned-in congrats from Eminem and Christina Aguilera. Miley Cyrus geeking out in the “TRL” photo booth. More former VJs than you could shake a stick at. And plenty of video packages that recounted the most memorable moments from the show’s 10-year history — everything from Mariah Carey’s wacko striptease to Rudy Guiliani’s appearance on the show’s first broadcast post-9/11 — and goofy glimpses at your favorite stars’ first appearances on the show (a barely legal Xtina, a super-slim Slim Shady, a giggly Britney Spears, to name just a few). There were on-air bleeps and teary pre-teens and even a few “Oh wait, what?!?” moments — you know, the stuff “TRL” was known for. And, appropriately, there was also one last video countdown. Hosts Carson Daly and Damien Fahey guided viewers (and the screaming fans inside the studio) through the 10 most iconic clips in “TRL” history — everything from Outkast’s “Hey Ya!” and ‘NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye” to Kid Rock’s “Bawitdaba” — a list topped with Britney Spears’ ” … Baby One More Time” (sadly, Brit Brit was not on hand to accept the accolades). The fact that all of this played out before a packed (and really squealy) studio audience — and on a massive screen outside in Times Square — only seemed right.

Sarah and I watched the TRL Finale event together last night (snug underneath some warm blankets cuz it’s cold as shizz here in Detroit, y’all) and we reminisced about how we hung out in front of a taping of TRL together on our first trip to NYC in the Spring of 2001. We even got a few seconds of screentime when the cameras zoomed in on us in the crowd. Since then, I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to be inside for tapings of TRL on a few occasions, once with David early in our fledgling relationship (it was the ep where Nelly Furtado debuted her new single Promiscuous, changing her career forever). BUT, I have an all-time fave TRL moment of my own … which is, of course, being able to meet, chat with and take a photo with Madonna (incidentally, the time I met her backstage at TRL in the Fall of 2005 was the last time she was ever on TRL). Even tho I stopped watching the show ages ago (as, I suspect, have many other folks — which is why the show is being retired), it will always hold a special place in my heart. It was a very fun show and I’m going to miss it very much. I have to send out some personal LURVE to Tim Healy, the director of TRL for always being so kind and accommodating to me. It is because of him that I have been able to enjoy some of the coolest TRL moments that I’ve ever had.

You may recall that Hilary was spotted with a new piece of bling on her ringfinger back in August and I wondered if she and Mike had gotten engaged — it would appear that they have not, in fact, gotten themselves engaged. The couple does manage to keep a relatively low profile (with only that nasty dad getting arrested thing coming to light to spoil their low profileness) which I think is part of their secret to success. I really like these two together … Mike looks like a sweetie and I bet he takes really good care of Hil D. The couple have been happily attached for some time now … as long as they keep shoe shoppin’ together like this, I think they’ll remain together happily ever after. How’s that for a Cinderella Story? ;)

Pop star Hilary Duff was spotted wearing a ring on her left ring finger Friday night at Los Angeles’ Il Sole restaurant, which might mean that boyfriend Mike Comrie, a former Michigan hockey player, popped the question, reports celeb watcher Marc Malkin. Comrie, now with the New York Islanders, and Duff have been dating for a year. When asked whether they’re engaged, a representative for the singer-actress did not comment to Malkin. Last year, Comrie, 27, reportedly gave Duff a $100,000 Mercedes to celebrate her 20th birthday. She turns 21 on Sept. 28. He turns 28 on Sept. 11.

Could it be? Is Hilary Duff ready to settle down with her hockey stud? I can deffo see Hila-rie making a nice little married couple but … I dunno. What do y’all think?
