In a new interview, Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress Michelle Trachtenberg reveals that once upon a time she could’ve nabbed the role of Bella Swan in the long-running Twilight film franchise. According to Trachtenberg, she has been friends with Catherine Hardwicke (the woman who directed the first Twilight film) for many years and were it not for their conflicting film schedules back in the day she could’ve scored the (very lucrative) role of Bella in the Twilight films. BUT, alas, it wasn’t meant to be.

Back in October we learned the somewhat shocking news that the new Ryan Gosling/Michelle Williams film Blue Valentine was slapped with an NC-17 rating by the MPAA (meaning that the film would be handicapped from a vast majority of movie theaters around the country, thereby severely hurting its chances during awards season). Today we learn the even more shocking news that the MPAA decided to downgrade the NC-17 rating to an R rating after a successful appeal from movie mogul Harvey Weinstein:

The MPAA has overturned the NC-17 rating on the Derek Cianfrance-directed Blue Valentine. The film will be given an R rating after Harvey Weinstein personally argued his position in today’s hearing. That clears up all kinds of potential problems that awaited the film had it been released with that rating or unrated. The rating was given for a sex scene between a married couple played by Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams as their relationship disintegrates. I’m told the appeal board’s decision was unanimous.

Altho rare, the MPAA has been known to reverse its movie ratings on appeal … happily, this is one of those rare times. I understand the offending scene, which resulted in the NC-17 rating, was an oral sex scene where Gosling‘s character was servicing Williams‘s character. Black Swan features an oral sex scene between Natalie Portman‘s character and Mila Kunis‘s character and that film never got an NC-17 rating. Pretty much everyone who has seen the film believes the NC-17 rating was outrageously wrong … thankfully, it’s been overturned.

It’s Emmy Weekend and you know what that means … parties, parties, parties! Entertainment Weekly magazine got things going last night by teaming up with Women In Film to host their annual Pre-Emmy Award soiree at the Restaurant at The Sunset Marquis Hotel in West Hollywood, CA. Many of the folks from True Blood were in attendance last night, including newlyweds Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer who were photographed together for the first time since they hot hitched in Malibu, CA last weekend. Here are a few photos of some of the celebrants at EW‘s par-tay and some deets about the other soirées that took place around town last night:

Celebrities roaming the Entertainment Weekly and Women in Film pre-Emmy party late Friday night seemed to stay in packs. Fellow comedians Kathy Griffin and Bill Maher chatted outside the restaurant at the luxurious Sunset Marquis hotel, while adroit “Parks and Recreation” co-stars Adam Scott and Aubrey Plaza held court on the patio. Seth MacFarlane, nominated for original music and lyrics for “Family Guy,” and Seth Green, nominated in the voice-over category for “Robot Chicken,” kept each other in stitches near the bar. Inside, invitees filled golden goodies bags with free makeup. Other attendees included Craig Robinson from “The Office” and Jason Ritter from the upcoming “The Event.” The men of “Modern Family” reunited Friday night at the Emmys’ performers nominee reception at Wolfgang Puck’s Spectra inside the Pacific Design Center. Emmy nominees Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet and Fred Willard, along with Nolan Gould, who plays Burrell’s son on the ABC comedy, mingled at the posh cocktail party … On the other side of the party, “Dexter” actor James Remar and other attendees filled their plates with Chinese chicken salad, Shangri La lobster and miso-glazed salmon. Partygoers also feasted outside on the balcony on short ribs and sweet plantains while listening to a jazz band perform such tunes as “I Kissed a Girl” and the theme song from “Frasier.” Nominees in attendance, including “Mad Men” actress Elisabeth Moss and “Breaking Bad” star Bryan Cranston, were presented with certificates by Academy of Television Arts and Sciences chairman John Schaffner, who recalled accidentally stepping on Glenn Close’s gown at a Screen Actors Guild event before he handed the “Damages” star her accolade.

There will be a host of parties going on here in LA tonight on the eve of the 62nd annual Primetime Emmy Awards, which will air LIVE on NBC tomorrow night at 8PM ET, 5PM PT. It won’t be long now … we will very soon find out if our fave TV shows and actors will walk away with the coveted Emmy trophies. Who are YOU rootin’ for to win?

Michelle Trachtenberg — star of films like EuroTrip, Mysterious Skin, Black Christmas, 17 Again and TV shows like Gossip Girl, Mercy and the famed Buffy the Vampire Slayer — is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Complex magazine. In her coverstory interview, Michelle talks about her new film A Couple of Dicks and even talks BtVS but it’s her Complex photospread that is really the eye catcher. Here is her coverphoto and some excerpts from her coverstory interview:

Michelle has been playing with sweets since the age of 3, when she spilled cranberry juice for a Wisk commercial. Thankfully, she managed to steer clear of sugary 30-second purgatory to firmly plant herself in the pop consciousness with roles as Buffy’s sister on TV’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer and an exhibitionist co-ed in the film EuroTrip. We should also mention that both roles led to Trachtenberg amassing a rather large number of not-so-secret admirers. So when pedophilic fans of Buffy (and non-pedophilic fans of bikinis) heard that she would be co-starring in something called A Couple of Dicks, you could forgive (and understand) their excitement.

Born and bred in Brooklyn! Did you ever get flashed or groped on the train growing up?
Michelle Trachtenberg: [Laughs.] I did. I was a kid, so I didn’t get groped—that would be really creepy. But there were some men not fully dressed that I saw on the subway. My mom and I would pretend that we were crazy people—because a crazy person doesn’t want to approach another crazy person.

What’s the nastiest thing anyone’s said to you on the streets of New York?
Michelle Trachtenberg: It’s probably been more recent, since I’ve grown into my womanly form. You know, you’ll walk by a construction site and it’s like, “You kiss your mama with that ass?” What does that even mean? I don’t kiss my mama with my ass because it’s back there! My lips are up here, so that’s weird. It worked though, ’cause I turned around and was like, “What does that mean?!” So he won.

And you spoke for several hours.
Michelle Trachtenberg: Um, he’s my boyfriend.

So, A Couple of Dicks. Did you sign on for the title alone?
Michelle Trachtenberg: Totally. Best headline of my life: “Trachtenberg Likes Dicks.” How can you not have A Couple of Dicks on your IMDB page? I sent a mass e-mail to all my agents and managers like, “I would like to thank y’all for your contribution to my 20-year career, because I am now on top of some dicks.”

There must have been lots of dick jokes on the set. What was the best one?
Michelle Trachtenberg: “Are we rolling on Dicks?” “Sort of. Don’t make it hurt.”

Last weekend we learned that Sarah Michelle Gellar, pregs with her first child with hubby Freddie Prinze, Jr., had her baby shower here in SoCal with a few friends and family. New photos published in the new issue of US Weekly magazine give us a little peek at the festivities that took place. The shower was held on August 1 at The Rise in Hollywood and was attended by SMG‘s celeb friends including fellow Buffyverse alum (and on-screen little sister) Michelle Trachtenberg and actresses Shannen Doherty, Kristin Chenoweth and Eva La Rue (who co-starred with SMG back during her All My Children days):

The shower revelers snacked on iced cupcakes from Sprinkles, got make-up tips and mini-make-overs from Napoleon Perdis and snapped funny photos in the on-site photobooth. Sounds like a fun party. As I said last weekend, by the time the shower rolls around you know it’s almost time for the mommy-to-be to blow. Hopefully we’ll be congratulating SMG and FPJ on the glorious arrival of their newborn child!

On the season finale of Gossip Girl last Spring many changes took place with the gang to set up the coming season (filming now in NYC). We saw that Blair Waldorf and Chuck Bass finally got together and we were introduced to the lovechild of Lily van der Woodsen and Rufus Humphrey. Here on the blog a few weeks ago, we learned that Joanna Garcia (formerly of The CW series Privileged) has joined the cast … and, of course, Michelle Trachtenberg is back as Georgina Sparks. Here are a few new pics of some of the cast on the NYC set of Gossip Girl this week:

I LOVE seeing Ed Westwick in fun t-shirt … clearly he was not in full Chuck Bass costume yet ‘cuz Chuck would never be seen in public wearing a t-shirt. I also love that Chace Crawford is carrying Joanna Garcia‘s purse. Chace totally strikes me as the purse-carrying sort of fella. Granted, I have no idea what the premise of the film is (other than, obvs, MT is getting married) but I understand that she co-stars with Bruce Willis (who I genuinely cannot stand). As much as I love me some Michelle T., I fear the Bruce Willisness of her new film will keep me from going out to see it when it opens in theaters. I must say, tho, that MT makes a very pretty bride … don’t you think?

Today has already been a Gossip filled day … early this morning we learned that one of the Gossip Girl characters would be arrested in an upcoming episode and just a short while ago we saw the first pictures of Brittany Snow in the role of Lily van der Woodsen filming scenes for the upcoming Gossip Girl spin-off series … and now we get to see a few photos of some of the other GG castmembers filming scenes for the final batch of eps to air this season, behold:

It really looks like there is gonna be a whole lotta drama comin’ out way when Gossip Girl returns with the final eps of the season. Leighton Meester is lookin’ like the Queen B that she is, Ed Westwick is rockin’ the purple suit right, Chace Crawford is about as fine as he ever was and Michelle Trachtenberg returns with a whole new attitude for the series … BRING IT ON, I can’t hardly wait! We are just days away from the return of new eps and I’m already dying for more. All of these new pics are really gettin’ me amped.

People magazine brings us our first look at Michelle Trachtenberg on the NYC set of Gossip Girl, in her role as Georgina Sparks, filming new scenes with Ed Westwick (as Chuck Bass) for eps that will air this Spring. When last we saw Georgina on the show, she was being dragged away by her parents to boarding school after she got caught raising havoc among the main GG kids. It would seem that her long exile is now over and she’s back to raise some more Hell:

Spotted: Georgina Sparks talking to Chuck Bass! Michelle Trachtenberg, who plays the deliciously evil Georgina Sparks on Gossip Girl, is returning to the show beginning April 27 for the final four episodes of season 2. This photo, shot on Feb. 24 with Ed Westwick (who plays bad boy Chuck Bass), was taken on location on New York’s Staten Island. No word on what exactly this duo are up to, but we bet Georgina has something up her designer sleeve. When we last saw her, she had been shipped off to reform school after drugging and blackmailing her former best friend Serena and trying to steal her boyfriend Dan. And executive producer Stephanie Savage offered a clue, telling PEOPLE during the show’s summer hiatus, “I don’t think there’s any boot camp in Idaho or anywhere else that will hold Georgina Sparks for long … I don’t think she was very happy with Blair. They have some unfinished business.” And now she’s with troublemaker Chuck! The Upper East Side’s Queen B better watch out.

Aww yeah, the Sparks are gonna fly once again. You just knew that a baddie like Georgina wouldn’t stay away for long. While I doubt her machinations will be quite as dubious as they were last year, I’m sure she’ll be up to no good … just the way we love her to be :) I gotta say, tho, Michelle‘s hair in this photo has her lookin’ a lot like Dawn Summers (a la Buffy the Vampire Slayer) rather than Miss Sparks. Perhaps the goody-goody hair is a sign that Georgina is trying to be a good girl — or at least pretend to be one? Wee!! I cannot wait for her return!!! Are any of y’all excited too?
