First Look: Michael Jackson, ‘Hold My Hand’

A couple weeks ago we got our first listen of Michael Jackson‘s new single Hold My Hand (an unfinished duet she recorded with Akon before his death in 2009) and today we get our first look at the music video for that song in photos taken from the set of the video set. TMZ reports that the video, which was filmed here in SoCal last weekend, will feature a group of Michael Jackson fans and one mini Michael Jackson impersonator … behold:

The music video for Michael Jackson’s song with Akon features dozens of extras … but only one of them is a pint-sized version of MJ. TMZ obtained video and photos taken last week from the set of the video for “Hold My Hand.” One Jackson fan was featured doing a few of MJ’s famous dance moves. You can hear another fan say about the kid, “That there is the opportunity of a lifetime.” As we first reported, a group of MJ fans were recruited to walk into an open airport hangar — meant to symbolize “walking into the light”. A source on the set told us the director was telling people the video would air on ABC on December 6.

Thus far there has been no official confirmation of the music video’s release but a December 6 release would work pretty well ahead of the scheduled December 14 release of the album Michael. After the jump, check out a few photos obtained by TMZ of some of the other MJ fans that will be featured in the video …

The first release from a new MJ DVD box set titled 'Vision'
Watch: Michael Jackson, ‘One More Chance’

We already know that a Michael Jackson‘s first posthumous album of new material will be released on December 14 but did you know that a different box set of MJ material is due for release later this month? Vision is a 3 DVD box set that will compile a collection of previously released videos and just one brand new, previously unreleased music video … and today we get our first look at that unreleased video for the 2003 song One More Chance:

For the first time in years … a brand new Michael Jackson music video has surfaced … one that MJ first began working on back in 2003. [Yesterday], the long awaited video for the 2003 MJ song “One More Chance” mysteriously appeared online … and TMZ has confirmed it’s the real deal. Michael first began to work on the shoot back in ’03 — but had to put everything on hold to deal with the raid on Neverland. As we first reported, MJ’s people had been working to put the finishing touches on the video … and now that it’s complete, they plan to include it with a Michael Jackson box set called “Vision” that will be released later this month.

HMMM. I have watched and rewatched this newly surfaced music video and I am having a very hard time believing that it is Michael Jackson in the video. Even if MJ filmed his scenes for the One More Chance music video back in 2003, I don’t think that it looks like him at all in the clip. After the jump, check out a 2 minute clip of the previously unseen Michael Jackson music video One More Chance

Featuring Akon
First Listen: Michael Jackson, ‘Hold My Hand’

Two weeks ago we got our first listen to Breaking News, the first song teased from the new posthumous album of new material to be released by the late Michael Jackson next month and today we get to hear another track from the album titled Michael. Hold My Hand is a duet featuring Akon and it is being released as the official first single from MJ‘s new album … here is the artwork for the single:

Now, this Hold My Hand song has been leaked previously so some of us have heard it before … but Akon has fully produced the track for inclusion on the album so this version might sound a bit different from the leaked version that hit the Internets last year. After the jump, get your first listen to Hold My Hand (Featuring Akon) in full …

'Hold my Hand' will be the first single from 'Michael'
The Tracklisting For Michael Jackson’s New Album Has Been Revealed

Last weekend we got our first listen of the controversial new Michael Jackson song Breaking News, which will appear on the late King of Pop‘s first posthumous album of new material titled Michael … but today, we learn that Breaking News is NOT the first single from the album. MJ‘s duet with Akon on a song titled Hold My Hand has been announced as the first official single release from Michael in a new press release announcement about the album’s full tracklisting:

The first official single from the forthcoming Michael Jackson album MICHAEL will be released globally on Monday, November 15th at 12:01am EST. The song entitled “Hold My Hand” will be unveiled on www.michaeljackson.com and for sale digitally thereafter. “Hold My Hand”, a duet with Akon, is a song they recorded in 2007. A handwritten note from Michael belonging to his Estate indicated his desire that “Hold My Hand” be the first single on his next project. However, in its unfinished state, the song leaked out in 2008. Akon recently completed the new and final production of “Hold My Hand.” Akon comments, “The world was not ready to hear ‘Hold My Hand’ when it leaked a couple years ago. We were devastated about it. But its time has definitely come; now in its final state, it has become an incredible, beautiful, anthemic song. I’m so proud to have had the chance to work with Michael, one of my all time idols.” On December 14th, Epic Records in conjunction with the Estate of Michael Jackson, will release the much-anticipated new album MICHAEL. The album contains ten tracks, produced by an esteemed group of producers along with Michael Jackson. While primarily focused on songs that Michael worked on recently, there are also earlier compelling tracks. MICHAEL is the first release in nine years of new material by one of music’s most beloved icons whose artistry continues to touch new generations of fans. The album marks another release under the new agreement between the Estate of Michael Jackson and Sony Music announced in March that continues the label’s 35-year relationship with Michael and his music. During that time, Michael sold hundreds of millions of records, had 13 #1 singles and released the pop culture phenomenon “Thriller,” which remains music’s all-time bestselling album with more than 100 million copies sold worldwide.

Because Hold My Hand was previously leaked online while MJ still lived, I think the full official release of the song should quiet detractors who still claim that MJ‘s voice was not used on any of these new tracks being released after his death. The full album tracklisting also features other MJ songs where he sings with other big name artists … like Lenny Kravitz. After the jump, check out the full tracklisting of songs from Michael and find out who else MJ collaborated with on this new material …

Unauthorized
Prince’s Symbol Found Then Removed From Michael Jackson’s New Album Artwork

When the official artwork for Michael Jackson‘s new album Michael was unveiled last week, eagle-eyed Prince fans noticed that Prince‘s famous “unpronounceable symbol” O(+> appeared on the album cover. The art, painted by artist Kadir Nelson in 2009, was meant to portray the various elements of Michael Jackson‘s world … which, apparently, includes Prince‘s symbol:

Unfortunately, Sony Music did not secure the rights to use Prince‘s symbol and it has subsequently been removed from the album art altogether:

Beside being accused of not featuring his real voice, Michael Jackson’s posthumous album has also contained unauthorized use of Prince’s symbol on its cover art. A representative for Prince filed complaint to Sony Music Group and the company subsequently removed it from the artwork. The picture on the front page of the upcoming CD is an oil painting created by Kadir Nelson in 2009 to “take us on a journey through some key moments and important people in Michael Jackson’s life.” But Prince’s [reveals], “No permission was granted. [So] Sony Entertainment has removed the symbol.” Simply titled “Michael”, the album is going to be released Stateside on December 14. The lead single “Breaking News” has just been debuted, narrating the life of the late King of Pop under media scrutiny.

While flattering, it’s no secret that Prince does not allow anyone to infringe on his copyrights and get away with it. It’s a good thing this was brought to Sony‘s attention before the album went into production and was released … Prince has a reputation for suing this kind of infringement, suing even his own fans for posting music, video and even photos of his Purpleness. Still … I kinda wish some copies of Michael could be released with the Prince symbol on it. Boo.

Plus, 'Opis None' has been admitted as a fake
Michael Jackson’s New Single ‘Breaking News’ Is Released

The day that Michael Jackson fans have been waiting for has finally come … today, a BRAND NEW single from the late King of Pop titled Breaking News has been made available to fans all around the world. But, the single’s release does not come without its fair share of controversy … as you might expect from anything Michael Jackson-related. The Jackson family does NOT believe that this new track released by Sony Music is a genuine MJ song. They insist that the vocals on the song are not of Michael Jackson. In an effort to bolster their claim, Katherine Jackson and her business partner Howard Mann released a song titled Opis None as a genuine MJ song in retaliation. The only problem is that their song isn’t the genuine article at all. Mann released a statement admitting that the song Opis None is NOT a new MJ track but is, in fact, an extended remix of an old MJ song titled Destiny. Whoops!

Undaunted, Sony Music released Breaking News on MichaelJackson.com at midnight last night … here is our first look at the single cover artwork:

Naturally, Sony will NOT let the song be streamed on any site but their own … so you’ll have to click HERE to listen to Breaking News in full. I’m not familiar with the more recent MJ music so I can’t really tell if the vocals sounds like his or not. The song deffo has a Michael Jackson feel to it but, well, you be the judge — is it really Michael Jackson singing or not? UPDATE: Listen to Breaking News in full, after the jump …

A tiny taste of the first single from Michael Jackson's new album 'Michael'
First Listen: Michael Jackson, ‘Breaking News’

While Katherine Jackson is off releasing a previously unreleased Michael Jackson song of her own, Sony Music is giving us a wee taste of the first single to be released from the late Michael Jackson‘s first posthumous album of new material (which, it was announced this week, will hit stores on December 14). Altho the new single, titled Breaking News, won’t be released in full until Monday, today we get to enjoy a sneak preview of the “new” single:

Now, bear in mind, this is just a tiny taste of the song. Sony posted a short promo video clip of the song on it’s official Michael Jackson website that features no actual vocals … just a video montage lead-in into an instrumental part of the track. Listen to it in full, after the jump …

Katherine Jackson releases an authentic MJ song of her own
Listen: Michael Jackson, ‘Opis None’

Yesterday we learned that Sony Music and the estate of Michael Jackson announced the release of an entire album of new material from the late King of Pop titled simply Michael, scheduled to hit stores on December 14. As I mentioned, members of the Jackson family (including MJ‘s mother Katherine) doubt the validity of the songs selected for release and do not believe they are actual MJ songs (Sony insists that their voice experts have verified that the songs are, in fact, sung by Michael Jackson). In retaliation to the release of this new album of previously unreleased material, Katherine has authorized the FREE release of a MJ song that she owns as part of the Jackson Secret Vault collection … the song is titled Opis None and, Katherine claims, is 100% Michael Jackson:

As you may recall, Katherine released earlier this year a coffee table book of photographs of Michael Jackson that were previously unseen. Apparently, she also owns around 300 unreleased MJ songs as well. This track, Opis None, is from that collection of songs and it is believed that Katherine authorized the release of this song as a genuine MJ song to oppose the collection of songs Sony is planning to release which she does NOT believe are genuine songs. Wanna hear Opis None? Listen in full, after the jump …

First Look: 'Michael' - Due out December 14
Michael Jackson To Release His First Posthumous Album Of New Material

Great news Michael Jackson fans … the estate of the late King of Pop has announced that his first posthumous album of previously unreleased material is set for release on December 14. As you may know, it has been widely reported that MJ left a treasure trove of unreleased material in the care of his estate executors to be released after his death as a legacy for his 3 children. Not counting the soundtrack to Michael Jackson presents This Is It (the soundtrack to the behind-the-scenes concert film This Is It which only included one new track and was released last year, just months after his death), this new album is the first collection of previously released material to be released since MJ‘s death in June of 2009. Titled simply Michael, here is our first look at the album art:

The much anticipated album of newly completed recordings from Michael Jackson entitled MICHAEL will be released on December 14 by Epic Records in conjunction with the Estate of Michael Jackson. [On Friday, November 6] an exclusive teaser for the project will appear on www.michaeljackson.com; on Monday, November 8th the world premiere of “Breaking News,” a full track from the album, will stream on the site for one week only. The creative process never stopped for the King of Pop who was always planning for his next album; unbeknownst to many fans around the world Michael Jackson was writing and recording songs continuously everywhere from a friend’s home in New Jersey to studios in Las Vegas and Los Angeles with a small group of handpicked collaborators. Now, through the unique stories that will be told about the songs that comprise MICHAEL, fans will get mind-blowing insight into how this artist worked and a chance to hear the songs he most recently created along with tracks that Michael had a desire to bring to fruition. “Breaking News,” a never heard before song by Michael that appears on the new album was recorded in New Jersey in 2007 and recently brought to completion. Fans can begin pre-ordering the album on www.michaeljackson.com in the next 24 hours. The … image of the album cover of MICHAEL was created by painter Kadir Nelson in 2009. In the oil painting, Kadir – who is known for story telling through his art – takes us on a journey through some key moments and important people in Michael Jackson’s life. Stay tuned for the worldwide launch of the official first single from MICHAEL later this month.

I know there are many MJ fans out there very excited to hear this new material … and to be honest, I’m terribly curious myself. But, not everyone is happy this album is being released. The Jackson family has announced that they doubt very seriously the validity that this “new music” from Michael Jackson was recorded by MJ … they are insisting that this new collection of music was NOT recorded by MJ at all:

Two of Michael Jackson’s children are adamant — some of the soon-to-be released MJ song tracks are frauds. As we have been reporting, Sony will be releasing a Michael Jackson album before Christmas, featuring 10 – 12 original tracks. We’re told 5 of the tracks were recorded at the New Jersey home of record producer Eddie Cascio. Michael and his kids stayed at Cascio’s family home for 4 months in 2007, when the tracks were recorded, along with remixes that were released on the Thriller 25 Album. The Jackson family believes the Cassio tracks in question were fakes — sung by a Michael Jackson sound-alike. We’re told Prince says he was upstairs at the Cascio’s house when many of the tracks were recorded and was able to hear the music, and none of what he heard matches the Sony tracks. We’re also told Paris is “adamant” — she does not believe her dad’s voice is on the tracks in question. But the estate claims there are sound experts who say conclusively the tracks are the real deal. People connected with the Sony project believe the kids are being “manipulated” by Katherine Jackson and other family members who don’t want the album released.

Sony Music, naturally, vehemently denies that the songs are fakes and are moving forward with the album’s release. While I’m more a fan of the music MJ created back in the 80′s (and I understand there is some material from that era that is meant to be released sometime in the future), I am REALLY curious to hear the music that MJ intended for his next album. If YOU would like to preorder the album Michael, you can do so HERE. My guess is that the album will be available for purchase at all the usual outlets but … I guess if you want to get the jump on preordering, you can do so now. What do y’all think … are you excited by the release of his new Michael Jackson album?

Meet the man with 'The Silver Hand'
Even More Unreleased Photos Of Michael Jackson For Sale

Auction house Pierre Bergé & Associés will be orchestrating the sale of never-before-seen, previously unreleased photographs of Michael Jackson, shot by Arno Bani, in mid-December and today we get to see another new photo from the exclusive batch of photos being offered for sale at auction. Back in June, we got to see the photo that was originally supposed to be the album coverphoto for MJ‘s album Invincible. Just last week we got to see a photo of MJ that is titled The Sphinx. Today, we get our first look at the MJ photo titled La Main d’argent (The Silver Hand). Additionally, we get to read excerpts from an interview with Bani who sheds some light on these photos going up for auction and shares the experience he had working with the late Michael Jackson:

Michael Jackson moonwalked to Mozart’s “Requiem” as Arno Bani’s shutter clicked. Sometimes pensive, sometimes smiling serenely, the King of Pop opened himself to the young French photographer. Bani even took the liberty of having Jackson’s hair cut short because he “liked him that way.” Afterward, Jackson let it grow back out. “He really didn’t like his own face,” Bani said. “With longer hair, he could hide it.” Eleven years since the intimate session, one of the few artistic collaborations ever initiated by the singer, four striking series of photographs will go on the auction block in Paris on December 13. “We were like two boys playing on the floor, putting puzzles together,” said Bani, greeting ARTINFO France in his northern Paris apartment for a talk about the never-before-seen photographs that are today unveiled to the world. “I was a kid then, but he was ten times the kid I was. I would bring glitter pots and he would stick his finger in them and watch how it sparkled. We would spread it everywhere. The fashion design folders were like toy catalogs to him.” He added, “Michael Jackson wasn’t just asking me to take pictures. He wanted me to build him a look for the next ten years.” Surrounding the pair was Jackson’s entourage of artistic directors, clutching notepads, scribbling down whether the King of Pop liked the blue glitter better than the red. “It was the world in which he lived,” Bani said, “like seeing him in his little golden prison, discovering. He was extremely curious and cultured, but always humble, respectful, and kind. He would jump on the couch and clap when he fell in love with a new detail. He would give me hugs and bow with his hands together, Japanese-style. I had to ask him to stop thanking me, but I was really very touched.” The project came about by chance. Michael Jackson had spotted a fashion shot by Bani on the cover of the Sunday Times style section and immediately decided that he wanted to work with the young photographer. At first, Bani thought someone was prank calling him, before his lawyer friend confirmed that the King of Pop was inviting him for an audience. Bani would make six return trips to New York ahead of the three-day shoot.

The interview with Arno Bani continues HERE. It is a fascinating read if you are interested in these previously unseen photographs and want to know about them. I must admit, I’m curiously interested in these photographs particularly because they were taken 10 years ago and then were locked away in a vault so that they would remain completely uncirculated and unseen. It is my understanding that MJ was trying to forge a future image of himself that he have waiting for him in 10 years time … it’s a shame he didn’t live long enough to see the photos released. After the jump, check out a larger size version of this image The Silver Hand so that y’all can see the silver hand in question …
