Last Wednesday we learned that Glee‘s Lea Michele was the latest celebrity spokesperson to team up with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals to join their crusade for animal rights. It turns out that actor Ryan Gosling has also decided to work with PETA in defense of animal rights and has fired off an open letter to the McDonald’s fast food chain regarding their treatment of the chickens they prepare as food:

Ryan Gosling is the heartthrob with a heart of gold—and now he’s got a message for the Golden Arches: Stop scalding chickens to death in defeathering tanks. The Oscar-nominated actor just fired off a letter on PETA’s behalf to McDonald’s CEO Jim Skinner asking him to adopt a less cruel slaughter method. Controlled-atmosphere killing (CAK), which McDonald’s European suppliers already use, would eliminate the worst abuses currently faced by chickens who are killed for McNuggets. Ryan himself said it best in Half Nelson: “The only constant is change.” By changing to a more humane slaughter method, McDonald’s would evolve and show the world some compassion for animals. If you could say anything to McD’s, what would you tell them?

Britney Spears, who Star magazine claims is planning to get hitched to her boyfriend/agent Jason Trawick (while I contend that Britwick are just “doing it”), was spotted paying a visit to a classy-lookin’ McDonald’s in the northern suburbs of London (while on her way to Manchester, England where she will be performing live in concert tonight) while wearin’ the cutest little pink hot pants … behold:

Britney Spears stunned customers in a suburban London McDonald’s today when she waltzed to buy her lunch. Surrounded by her hefty bodyguards watching her every move, Britney swiftly entered the Neasden, north west London branch of the fast food restaurant. After picking up her late lunch, Britney jumped back into her waiting people carrier and continued her journey to Manchester ahead of her concert tonight. Her current stay in Britain must be doing Britney the world of good given her radiant appearance today. The singer looked radiant and happy as she left her London hotel in a pair of pink hotpants. Despite her glowing complexion, it appeared the 27-year-old was dressing for all weathers given her clashing outfit of skimpy hotpants and a cosy polo neck. Beaming to photographers as she left the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, it appears Britney’s few days relaxation in the capital with her sons had given her a boost. Following her performance at the MEN Arena, Britney will be driven the 200 miles back to London tonight.

She looks freakin’ fantastic! Irregardless of whether she is engaged to be married to Jason Trawick or not (tho, I tend to believe she is not), it seems evident to anyone with eyes that Jason would be a very lucky man to be married to our dear Britney. Yes, I know it’s totally crazy to be using the words “married” and “Britney Spears” in the same sentence but she just looks so amazing lately … I’d love to see her all settled down and happy. Whatever happens in her private life, I just hope she really is as happy on the inside as she looks on the outside. You look amazing, Brit. You just keep on doin’ what it is you’re doin’.
