Earlier today we got our first look at Camila Alves and Matthew McConaughey‘s newborn baby boy, Levi Alves, on the cover of the new issue of OK! magazine … and here are a few pics of Matty out for a bit of surfing yesterday afternoon in Malibu, CA:

Yes, unfortch Matthew isn’t anywhere near half-nekkid in these pics … he’s not even half half-nekkid … which is a shame but, eh, whadda ya gonna do? He’s a grown-up and responsible father now who, apparently, has sworn off walking around in public sans shirt. Ah well. Incidentally, Best Week Ever took another look at that OK! magazine cover which features little Levi Alves and they reveal that the McConaughey boy is already rockin’ some bitchin’ abs. I bet Matthew will have Levi out on a surfboard in just a few weeks.

Camila Alves and Matthew McConaughey‘s newborn son Levi Alves makes his worldwide debut on the cover of OK! magazine this week. Born on July7th, this is our very first look at the baby boy borne of the beautiful Brazilian model and the crazy ex-party animal … meet Levi Alves:

For Matthew McConaughey and his longtime love Camila Alves, welcoming their first son Levi Alves McConaughey on July 7 was typical of the way the couple handles everything in their lives: easy-going and as a team. And now, in an exclusive interview and photoshoot, the 38-year-old actor opens up about becoming a father for the first time. “We found a great rhythm,” Matthew tells OK! about the delivery of baby Levi. “Contractions started kicking in. I sat there with her, right between her legs. We got tribal on it, we danced to it! I was DJ-ing this Brazilian music.” Levi was born at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center and weighed a healthy 7 lbs., 4 oz., and Matthew tells OK! he kept a detailed diary of his and Camila’s hospital experience. “I have it all chronicled,” he explained. “Becoming a dad is something I’ve dreamed of doing since I was 10. Becoming a father felt very, very natural. We were jamming! She was sweating. No painkiller, let’s go. She just clicked into that gear that only a woman has at a time like this. We’d been up for 40-something hours, and we went from dead tired to a really steadfast, ‘Let’s handle this … let’s stay in the rhythm. Don’t let the contraction be more than you.’” Camila, 25, wanted a natural birth and chose not to have an epidural. But in the end, Matthew told OK! it came down to what was safest for both mom and baby. “We ended up having an epidural because, on the large contractions, the umbilical cord was being compressed. They went in and tried the vacuum. This is where I learned — and no one tells you this — but having a baby is a bloody, pukey, sweaty, primeval thing! And I mean that as a beautiful thing. It is wild. But the vacuum didn’t work, and the doctor said, ‘C-section.’” The Texas-born actor says he cut the umbilical cord in “one snip” and got to hold his son for the first 15 minutes while doctors worked on Camila. Both he and the Brazilian beauty — who waited to know the sex of their baby — say they were not surprised to find out they had a boy. “I said, ‘Come here, little man. I saw the pecker and screamed that we’d been right all along about him being a boy. Then I brought him over to her [Camila],’ Matthew said. “It was neat to find out what the sex was because we didn’t have the doctor tell us beforehand,” Camila agrees. So who does little Levi look more like? “Everybody thinks he looks like me because of the hair and skin tone,” Camila says. “I think he looks more like Matthew every day.” Matthew adds, “I’ve pulled out some baby pictures of myself, and the resemblance is amazing. This kid has a lot to learn from us. I want him to come out being a little wiser, a little cooler and a little happier than we are.”

Awww … it’s sweet the way that Matthew refers to his son’s sex organ as a “pecker”. It’s pretty remarkable how much and how quickly Matthew‘s whole persona changed once he found out he was going to be a father. It wasn’t that long ago that he was a womanizing horn dog, partying away the long nights. These days he’s about as straight-laced as they come. I had no idea that Camila was only 25 years old! To be honest, I never thought she looked that young — tho on this cover, she looks about 20. But in any event, I wish much happiness and congrats to the new family. They’ve got themselves a beautiful baby boy and I wish them much love and luck!

Matthew McConaughey, who has been keeping a relatively low profile since the birth of his son Levi Alves a few weeks ago, ventured out for an afternoon of surfing over the weekend. The last time we saw Matty out for a day at the beach, he was joined by a crew of his boys … this time, he was flyin’ solo. Here are a few X17 pics of Matthew riding (and not riding) the waves … and a couple of him stripping off his wetsuit:

MMM MMM MMM … the man sure does look good in a wetsuit, yes? As you can see in the last couple of photos, when Matthew was finished with his surfing session he began to stip off his skin-tight rubber suit. After the jump, check out a few photos of just how much Matthew stripped off …

Casey Aldridge isn’t the only new dad to have emerged sans family since the birth of his new child … brand new daddy Matthew McConaughey is already back into the swing of his regular routine mere moments after his babymama Camila Alves and his newborn son Levi Alves were released from the hospital this week. Here are a couple of shirted (boo) pics of Matthew at Corral Canyon yesterday:

While I would much prefer it if Matthew would return to his old routine of near-nekkid public outings on a daily basis, I think it’s a good sign that he isn’t letting fatherhood interfere with maintaining his physical fitness. While I’m sure he’s over the moon with happiness about his new family I think it’s great that his focus on staying hawt is of paramount importance. Okay, so not really but I am encouraged that Matthew seems to be staying true to his work-out regiment … after all, the shirt might eventually come off again one day.

Because this was the only pic snapped (that I know of) as she made her exit from the hospital you can’t see that babydaddy Matthew and Levi are riding in the backseat. I’m sure the happy family are looking forward to a nice seclusion away from the world so that they can take their $3 million dollar photos for OK! magazine in peace. I’m sure we’ll be seeing what baby Levi Alves looks like in a couple week’s time … but first — mother, father and son will prolly need a bit of alone time before their lucrative photoshoot.

OK! magazine is reporting that Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves have decided on a name for their newborn son (born last night) and have, thankfully, decided not to follow Matthew‘s oldest brother Rooster‘s lead and name the child after a brand of beer … instead, they named him after a brand of blue jeans:

Now that superstar actor Matthew McConaughey and longtime girlfriend Camila Alves have welcomed their first child into the world, they are revealing exclusively to OK! their son’s name — Levi Alves McConaughey. Explaining how they came up with the name for their baby boy, Matthew tells OK!, “Levi was another name for the apostle Matthew in The Bible. They were, in fact, two names for the same person. “Our son was born at 6:22 pm, and this particular time represents my favorite verse in the book of Matthew in The Bible: ‘If thy eye be single, thy whole body will be full of light.’” Baby Levi’s middle name is taken directly from his mother Camila’s last name. “We wanted to incorporate her family name,” explains the proud new father. To all the well-wishers and fans, Matthew and Camila have also released the following statement:

“We welcome Levi Alves McConaughey into this wonderful life and look forward to living in it with him. In the mean time and all times, just keep livin’.” — Matthew David McConaughey and Camila Maria Saraiva de Araujo Alves

Aww, well that’s nice … and strangely Biblical. Gettin’ back to big bro Rooster for a sec, he gave an interview to People magazine after the birth of the newest McConaughey and proclaimed that his little bro Matthew is gonna be “one helluva dad”:

Matthew McConaughey’s brother Rooster says his little bro is one lucky fella: “It’s good to have a boy the first time ’round!” He adds jokingly: “You can get away with dropping ‘em a couple times, and they’ll still be okay. Can’t really do that with a little girl.” For now the newest addition to the McConaughey clan is resting under the watchful eye of his parents … “He’s probably a bit tired right now, probably been sitting around that hospital just staring at the little guy,” Rooster tells PEOPLE. Rooster, 54, is the father of two, including 2-year-old Miller Lyte (yes, as in the beer). “The other day I told him, ‘Don’t worry if other people want to hold him for that first year. That’s okay.’ Our dad always used to say that,” Rooster says. “Hell, you wanna wait until their neck muscles get stronger anyway. That’s when the fun starts. I like ‘em when they get a bit tougher. I told him, they don’t really get fun until they’re about a year old anyway.” Roughhousing aside, Rooster says he’s certain his little brother will be a good father. “That guy is going to make one helluva a dad,” he says.

Hahahhaha … oh man, what a fun family. Again, congrats to the happy new parents and much happiness for their burgeoning family. Welcome to the world, Levi Alves!!

OH YES — one more thing on an entirely different note, OK! magazine has announced that they will be revealing the first pics of Jamie Lynn Spears and Casey Aldridge‘s newborn baby girl Maddie Briann tomorrow! Woot!

Another day, another celebrity baby bump goes boom! Camila Alves, girlfriend of Matthew McConaughey, gave birth to the couple’s first child last night here in SoCal yesterday evening. Thus far, no name has been released but speculation about the baby’s gender turned out to be true … Camila gave birth to a bouncing baby boy:

Matthew McConaughey and girlfriend of two years Camila Alves have welcomed a son Monday night, his rep Alan Nierob confirms to PEOPLE. The baby – the first child for both – was born at 6:22 p.m. in Los Angeles, weighing in at 7 lbs., 4 oz. “They’re so happy!” said a close pal.

If the trend in naming McConaughey children carries on, then we may be hearing about a doozy of a name whenever the name is announced. Rooster McConaughey, Matthew‘s oldest brother, named his son Miller Lyte after his favorite brand of beer … I can only imagine what Matthew wants to name his son … and I can only hope that Camila will have the final say and save the child from a lifetime of shame and chagrin. In any event, whatever the baby’s name, I’m sending out much congrats to the happy couple on the birth of their baby. Maybe now we’ll see that Matthew will start settling down even more now that he’s a father … but I’m not holding my breath just yet ;)

Best buds Matthew McConaughey and Lance Armstrong convened in Malibu, CA yesterday to go for a little work-out jog together. Nowhere in sight was Camilla Alves or Kate Hudson … it was just the two bros, hangin’ out like men often do when they need to pump up their massive bodies. Here are a few pics:

Sadly, Matt and Lance‘s third buddy Jake Gyllenhaal was also nowhere to be seen. It’s been ages since we’ve seen the Trifecta of Matt, Lance and Jake hanging out together … which is kinda sad, if you think about it. It doesn’t seem that long ago that the 3 lads spent all of their free time together, paling or horsing around with one another (click HERE for a refresher on how things used to be for McGyllenStrong). Ah well … at least Matthew and Lance still hang out … maybe Jake will join them after he sees all the fun that he’s been missing. Despite the unfortunate reports going around that tomcat Matthew McConaughey was fooling around on his pregs girlfriend Camilla Alves on his recent trip to Nicaragua, Matthew‘s older brother Rooster McConaughey (one of the stars of truTV‘s Black Gold) tells In Touch magazine that Camilla loves Matthew just the way he is. Having seen numerous photos of the younger McConaughey sans shirt, I can totally understand her feelings:

Despite recent reports that Matthew McConaughey has been flirting with women in Nicaragua while his pregnant girlfriend, Camila Alves, stews at home, his big brother insists that the couple is perfectly happy together. “Camila loves him for him. He’s a free spirit and she gets it,” Rooster McConaughey, who stars on the new truTV reality show Black Gold, tells In Touch. “She knows what it’s like being around a famous guy. She’s the salt of the earth. You ain’t gonna get better than that!” In fact, the mother-to-be, 25, was overheard gushing about Matthew, 38, and their child at LA’s Privé Salon on June 18. “Camila was saying how she and Matthew don’t know the baby’s sex yet because they want to be surprised,” an insider tells In Touch. “She looked heavily pregnant, but very excited and happy!” Matthew, voted In Touch’s biggest party animal in 2006, admits, “I earned that title.” Matthew has some odd habits: The actor brushed his teeth on a street in Malibu in 2006.

I imagine it’s not easy being the girlfriend of Matthew McConaughey … he strikes me as a bit of a wild child. But, to her credit (and our detriment), she manged to get him in the habit of wearing a shirt in public more often than not so I guess she knows what she’s doing. I just hope that they can stay happy together. With a new baby on the way, there can be some stressful and emotional things to endure. For her sake, I hope that Matthew is good with the follow-thru once the baby is born.

PS: Random fun fact — Rooster McConaughey named his son Miller Lyte … after his favorite beer. I can’t wait to hear that Camilla and Matthew named their child Bud Weiser if it’s a boy, Coors if it’s a girl.

Woot! For the second weekend in a row, Matthew McConaughey stripped off his shirt and slipped on his board shorts and made his way to the beach to soak up some rays and catch some waves with his male friends. This is only the second shirtless outing that Matthew has embarked upon in MONTHS, so it is still just cause for celebration.
