Yesterday we read a blogpost written by Matthew McConaughey in celebration of his 40th birthday (which was Wednesday) wherein he waxed ecstatic about growing older while staying younger and now we may know just what exactly he was referring to. It turns out that Matty boy got himself a new toy for his 40th … a sexy black muscle car of his very own:

Don’t you just love how Matthew looks back longingly at his little baby after he locks her up in the parking lot? So cute. It looks like Matthew picked himself up a classic Camaro Z28 to tool around SoCal in. It’s a shame he’s all settled down with his lady and kid (well, kids … he’s got another on the way) cuz a car like this would really help him score a lot of … attention from the ladyfolk. But, as we read yesterday in his My Space blogpost, he is an older, wiser man who really appreciates his lot in life. I hope this sexy car comes with enough space for two baby seats in backseat … you know, safety first and all.

Matthew McConaughey turned 40 years old yesterday and decided to write a post for his official My Space blog in order to share with the world his feelings on the occasion. In case you missed it, here is the full text of Matthew’s latest blogpost wherein he shares deets from his birthday celebration … and his outlook on his next decade of life:

………………..Cyber world….mcconaughey here, 40 years young today….thanks to all for the birthday wishes and to the people that share the same birthday, glad you were born too. The 30’s were good to me and I’m really looking forward to my 40’s, cause I’m late bloomer. Got everything I need for a perfect 40th…a happy and healthy lady, son, and another baby on the way….my family, closest friends and I celebrated last night with a surprise performance by one of my favorite artists Jamey Johnson….there were some epic stories told, lot of laughs and definitely some roasting. Somehow! No blood or glass broken, and that’s cus the gig was so organized by lady and we went ’til 4:30am…Going to spend some more time with my family and friends today, grillin steaks and sippin beers, celebratin more to live for….and again thanks for all the b-day wishes.

Aww … what a great sentiment to share on one’s birthday. I have to say … Mr. McConaughey has really grown up in the past few years. It wasn’t that long ago that Matthew was often spotted in a messy/drunken state, usually undressed in some fashion, making a bit of a fool of himself. As soon as he met Camila Alves and became a father to his son Levi, he went from acting like a drunken 18 year old fratboy to a grown adult man. I think he is very right when he says he is a “late bloomer” … much of his 30’s were spent acting as if he was in his 20’s. I have no doubt that the best is yet to come for Matthew McConaughey. He’s got a great attitude and, more importantly, it sounds like he’s got a great circle of loved ones to share his life with. Happy Birthday, Matthew! Just keep livin’, indeed.

Happy Hallowe’en, y’all!! As some of you may be well aware, Hallowe’en is the pagan new year and is said to be the time of the year when the veil between the living and the dead is at its thinnest … meaning that ghosts and ghouls can cross over into the world of the living to either trick or treat us with spooky fun. Hollywood is never immune to the infectious pull of Hallowe’en each year … here are a few photos of some celebs all dressed up in Hallowe’en costumes this year:

I love that Ellen DeGeneres dressed up as Oprah Winfrey’s O Magazine, Mickey Rourke dressed up as … well … I’m not sure what he dressed up as but it’s fun that he covered up his normally leathery tanned skin. The O’Connell brothers, Charlie and Jerry, dressed up as a shark and Shamu the whale respectively at the Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times 17th annual Halloween Carnival held this week at Universal Studios … and Matthew McConaughey dressed up as the Bee Girl from the Blind Melon music video. See … it’s fun to dress up for Hallowe’en. I urge y’all to get in on the fun and dress up, too!! I am so excited for my costume! I wore a fun Incredible Hulk costume (see it HERE) to the Dead Man’s Bones concert last night but my main Hallowe’en costume will be revealed later on today (watch my Twitter). Here are a few photos of Matthew McConaughey doing a bit of handy work around his home in Malibu, CA (in various states of undress) while his grandmother/nanny looks after his son, Levi Alves. As you may recall, we recently saw photos of Granny Alves yanking little Levi up by his right arm while he was playing at the beach … I’m not trying to overworry here but, it really looks like he is missing his right arm entirely in these photos:

I mean, I know that Levi didn’t have his arm pulled off by his overzealous grandmother but it is humorous how you cannot see his arm at all in these photos. I really do hope the little guy wasn’t injured by granny’s need to manhandle the little dude. As for Matthew, it’s been so long since we’ve seen him out in public sans shirt that I don’t even know what to say. The only thing that would make these pictures even awesomer would be a cameo by McConanaughey’s new pet bird. These people need a reality show, don’t you think?

A couple weeks ago we learned that Matthew McConaughey got himself a new pet, a breed of bird called Sun Conure, and today we see that Matty’s little birdy friend is still hangin’ around:

Um … I have to admit that I really love Matthew with his bird. It’s such an odd thing to see a man and his bird just out in public … you can understand how sometimes that could be off-putting. As far as celeb pets go, I think McConaughey’s Sun Conure is my new fave.

Animal lover Matthew McConaughey, who last year procured a little pooch for his family a few months after the birth of his son Levi Alves, was spotted roaming the streets of Mailbu, CA in the company of his newest pet … a cute little Sun Conure:

While it’s not odd at all to see celebs out and about with their pets, it is odd to see anyone walking around with a pet bird on their shoulder. I understand Matthew kept feeding his new friend grains to keep the little guy from flying away to freedom. I don’t know if we’ll be seeing much of the newest member of the McConaughey family from here on out because birds tend to spend most of their time cooped up in birdcages … but if Matthew felt safe bringing out this bird this time there’s no reason not to believe he’ll bring him (or her) out again.

As you might expect, Matthew McConaughey herded up his little family and took them out for a day of relaxation at their home-away-from-home — the beach! Here are pics of Matthew, a very pregs Camila Alves and their first born child Levi Alves at a beach in Malibu, CA yesterday afternoon:

Labor Day or not, the McConaugheys really love spending time at the beach so it’s not really surprising in the least that they would make yesterday a beach day. It is always really fun seeing photos of Matthew spending time with his baby boy … they make an adorable couple. Very soon, Camila will be bringing forth the fruit of her loins and their little family will be a wee bit bigger and, most likely, a whole lot cuter. Aren’t they just the cutest?
