The 2009 Creative Arts Emmy Awards Are Handed Out

'Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog' wins an EMMY!!!!!!
Sunday, September 13th, 2009

The 61st Annual Creative Arts Emmy Awards were handed out in an intimate (ie. small) ceremony held at the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles, CA last night. Nicknamed the Shmemmies, these Emmy awards are presented in recognition of technical and other similar achievements in American television programming and are commonly awarded to behind-the-scenes personnel such as art directors, costume designers, cinematographers, casting directors, and sound editors. The big winner of the night was Tina Fey, who collected an Emmy award for her amazingly brilliant impersonation of former Alaska governor Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live last year but the surprising winner of the night was Joss Whedon’s creation Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog (which existed online only at DrHorrible.com) which took home the Emmy award for Outstanding Special Class—Short-Format Live-Action Entertainment Program. Here are a few photos from the press room at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards last night:

The big winner at Saturday’s Creative Arts Emmys? Sarah Palin. Tina Fey. The bespectacled funnylady’s spot-on Saturday Night Live spoofin’ of a certain veep wannabe earned her an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress, Comedy. You betcha. “This would not be possible without Mrs. Palin…[who is] an inspiration to working mothers everywhere,” Fey sad as she picked up the prize. She also gave a shout-out to “my parents, who are lifelong Republican, for their patience.” “They thought the first four sketches were very funny and the last two, enough already,” said Fey, who can collect more hardware at next weekend’s Primetime Emmys. Meanwhile, all that booty-shaking with Beyoncé and mother-loving with Susan Sarandon paid off for Justin Timberlake. The former ‘N Syncer claimed the Guest Actor, Comedy statuette for his own SNL stint. Timberlake became the first host in the history of the late-night stalwart to claim that honor. This is Timberlake’s second SNL-spawned Emmy. He previously scored the music category for his infamous “D-ck in a Box” showcase with Andy Samberg. But they weren’t all the big-name winners at L.A.’s Nokia Theatre. Michael J. Fox (Guest Actor, Drama), Oscar winner Ellen Burstyn (Guest Actress, Drama) and SNL alums Jimmy Fallon (Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media) and Chris Rock (Writing, Variety, Music or Comedy Special) were among those honored. Long-snubbed Buffy mastermind Joss Whedon finally collected some Emmy hardware for his hugely popular online project Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. The wingding was presided over by Kathy Griffin, who saw the two-year Emmy-winning reign of Kathy Griffin: Life on the D List come crashing to a halt, with A&E’s Intervention named Outstanding Reality Program. The awards ceremony honored 81 technical and other achievements for the 2008-09 season. HBO led the way with 16 Emmys, followed by NBC (11) and ABC and Fox (eight apiece). PBS’ Little Dorrit topped all programs with four awards.

Um, I didn’t even know you could win an Emmy Award if your program was not broadcast on television … how awesome is Dr. Horrible’s win??? Congrats also goes out to Tina Fey because, in all honesty, I am of the mind that her spot-on impersonation of Sarah Palin did a lot to help the greater good and helped expose Palin’s insipidness more widely to the masses … so on behalf of the American people, we love you and congrats Tina!! I don’t believe that Mary Lynn Rajskub won an award last night but I wanted to include a photo of her and new hubby Matthew Rolph because they look so damn cute together :) Click HERE to see who else took home Creative Emmy Awards last night … and, again, congrats to all the winners!

Mary Lynn Rajskub & Matthew Rolph Got Hitched!

The couple say their spontaneous 'I Do's in Sin City
Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

Much love and congrats goes out to 24 actress Mary Lynn Rajskub and her personal trainer/babydaddy Matthew Rolph after they finally decided to make it official and tie the knot in Las Vegas, NV over the weekend! Mary Lynn and Matthew share a baby boy named Valentine Anthony who was born to the couple in July of 2008 and was prolly some inspiration for the couple’s nuptials … they got hitched, y’all!

Mary Lynn Rajskub’s has never been one to stick to convention, and the 24 star’s wedding to personal trainer Matthew Rolph over the weekend at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas was no exception. The actress, wearing an ivory wedding gown with lace overlay by Nicole Miller, was walked down the aisle Saturday by the couple’s 1-year-old son Valentine to Elvis’s “A Little Less Conversation.” The groom wore a white Hugo Boss suit. “We didn’t know that getting married at a casino in Vegas with Elvis could be so romantic,” Rajskub tells PEOPLE exclusively. “Our wedding was beautiful, spontaneous and intimate.” After the ceremony, the couple and their 20 guests, among them It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia costars and real-life husband and wife Kaitlin Olson and Rob McElhenney, continued the celebration into the wee hours at the restaurant Koi Las Vegas. Rajskub, 38, and Rolph, 29, who met while she was performing a stand-up comedy gig, welcomed their son on July 24 last year. “We are so excited to officially be husband and wife,” Rajskub adds.

Yay!! I am so happy for Mary Lynn and Matthew!! MLR is seriously one of my fave actresses ever! She is totally fabulous in everything she does … I’m just thrilled that her happy little family is coming together. Her baby boy, Valentine, is so cute … I really couldn’t be happier for all of them. I was happily surprised to learn that Mary Lynn co-stars in the film Julie & Julia (which I got to see last night and LOVED … review on the way) and, of course, I’m really looking forward to seeing her in the upcoming new season of 24. Again … love and congrats Rajskub-Rolphs! May you live a very long and very happy life together!!

The Cast Of ‘24’ Previews The Season 7 Finale, Launches The DVD

The following took place between 6:30PM and 7:30PM
Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

Kiefer Sutherland, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Carlos Bernard and more were on hand at the Wadsworth Theater here in LA last night for a preview screening of the season finale of 24 (which airs on FOX next Monday night) and a launch event for the DVD release of Season 7 (which hits stores next Tuesday). Here are a few pics from the red carpet arrivals at last night’s event:

It PAINS me to reveal that I was graciously invited to attend this event last night but due to my previous engagement in Anaheim, I was unable to attend. I’m so happy to see that most of the cast came out for the event … including Glenn Morshower who plays the amazing Secret Serviceman Aaron Pierce on the show. He is my fave non-main character on the show. It’s really cool that the entire season of the show will be released on DVD the day after the finale airs … I really hate waiting months to get the DVDs after the season ends. This season started out a bit slow, IMHO, but it really picked up about 4 eps in … it’s been a great ride and it all ends next week. I’m still trying to get over the fact that Tony Almeida was a bad guy gone good gone bad. He is such a great character … I’m sure there will be a showdown with Jack Bauer soon (next week??). 24 remains one of my fave shows and I’m bummed that it’s ending next week … but it is of great comfort that the show has been renewed for at least 2 more seasons to come.

Meet Mary Lynn Rajskub’s Baby Boy Valentine Anthony

Baby boy meets world
Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Yesterday afternoon we saw a photo of actress Mary Lynn Rajskub at the award ceremony for Kiefer Sutherland as he received his very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Today we get to see who she brought to the event yesterday as her date … her baby boy Valentine Anthony! As you may recall, Valentine was born back in July but I believe this is the first time we’ve been able to see what the little darling looks like out in public … behold:

Two things … First, the little dude is, like, the cutest thing ever! Second, I kinda LOVE that Mary Lynn is giving us a trademark Chloe O’Brien (from 24) scowl in the last pic ;) He is an absolute angel … it’s so nice to finally see what the fruit of Mary Lynn’s loins actually looks like.

Kiefer Sutherland Gets A Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame

The 2,377th
Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

Kiefer Sutherland, star of Film and TV, was honored with his very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in a ceremony that was held on Hollywood Blvd. right next to the famed Roosevelt Hotel. Here are a few pics of Kiefer along with family and friends at today’s award ceremony for the 2, 377th star on the Walk of Fame:

Emmy Award-winning actor Kiefer Sutherland received the 2,377th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Tuesday, just more than a month before the season premiere of “24,” the Fox Broadcasting series that made him a worldwide star. His father, actor Donald Sutherland, and Joel Schumacher, who directed Kiefer Sutherland in four films, joined him in speaking at the late-morning ceremony next to the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Sutherland was born Dec. 21, 1966, in London while his parents, both actors, were working there. The Sutherlands soon moved to California, but the marriage ended in divorce in 1972. In 1975, Sutherland moved with his mother, Shirley Douglas, to Toronto, where he spent the rest of his youth. Sutherland made his acting debut in the 1983 film, “Max Dugan Returns,” alongside his father. The two also appeared together in the 1996 film “A Time to Kill.” He appeared with his mother in “Woman Wanted” in 2000. His first major motion picture was the 1984 Canadian drama, “The Bay Boy,” which earned him a nomination for a Genie Award, the Canadian version of the Academy Award. Sutherland’s other movie credits include “Stand By Me,” “The Lost Boys,” “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me,” “A Few Good Men,” “Flatliners,” “Young Guns,” and “The Three Musketeers.”

While Kiefer was pretty amazing in Stand By Me, The Lost Boys, A Few Good Men and Flatliners (to name but a few of my fave Kief movies), I love him most for his portrayal of Jack Bauer on the hit FOX series 24. It’s amazing … you never think about how many films a person has appeared in until you see them listed before you … Kiefer has been working his ass off and I am thrilled that he is finally being honored for his accomplishments. I love that his castmates from 24 (most especially Mary Lynn Rajskub) came out for the ceremony but I think I like the pic of Kiefer with his father Donald the most. Much love and congrats, Kiefer! You have deffo earned this honor.

Mary Lynn Rajskub Gives Birth

It's a boy!
Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Felicitations! It is my extreme pleasure to report that Mary Lynn Rajskub, the amazing actress who plays dour-mouthed Chloe O’Brien on 24, brought forth the precious fruit from her loins last Thursday … which she immediately named Valentine Anthony. Please join me in a resounding Woot! in celebration of her newborn bundle of joy:

24 star Mary Lynn Rajskub gave birth to a baby boy, Valentine Anthony, Thursday – almost two weeks after her due date, her rep Courtney Knittel confirms exclusively to PEOPLE. “It was like an episode of 24 with the clock ticking,” jokes Rajskub. Valentine, who weighed in at 9lbs., 5oz., is the first child for Rajskub, 37, and her boyfriend Matthew Rolph, 28, a physical trainer. The couple, who met while Rajskub was performing a stand-up comedy gig, disagreed over whether or not to find out the baby’s gender. Rajskub won. “I wanted it to be a surprise,” she says, “and Matthew wanted to find out” … Rajskub, who will return to TV in January for 24’s eighth season, says pregnancy has been, “scary and exciting,” especially given all the advice pals volunteer. “The closer I get to having this child,” she told PEOPLE at her baby shower in June, “the more I’m letting advice go in one ear and out the other. Everyone has their own thing.”

I just absolutely adore Mary Lynn Rajskub and I couldn’t be happier for her and Matthew. I hope she is able to enjoy this time with her baby and can rest up properly … so she can, once again, get back to kickin’ ass on 24 next season ;) Many congrats and much, much love! Welcome to the world, Valentine Anthony!!!
