“I deeply apologize to the families of the victims that my answer came off as insensitive..."
Mark Wahlberg In Trouble For His Comments About 9/11

I’m not quite sure what to make of the latest news about Mark Wahlberg. I’m actually a bit disappointed in him. In the February issue of Men’s Journal which is all about Mark Wahlberg, one of the things he mentioned in his interview was how he could have stopped the planes that were tragically hijacked on 9/11. Read below to hear what he said, and the latest… yesterday he issued a statement apologizing for his original comments… yes, Mark, they were pretty insensitive.

CONFIRMED: ‘Entourage’ The Movie Still In The Works

We have been hearing about this movie being made for a while now, ever since the show ended last year, but now we have heard direct from Mark Wahlberg that it is “still in the works” and they are waiting for the script to be finished. Come on, hurry, we want to see you!

"To be on the cover of 'Sports Illustrated' is an amazing accomplishment"
Mark Wahlberg & Christian Bale Do ‘Sports Illustrated’ Magazine

Marky Mark Wahlberg and his co-star Christian Bale, who both star in the new film The Fighter, are featured on the cover of the new issue of Sports Illustrated magazine. Wahlberg and Bale are among the lucky few non-athletes to nab an SI coverphoto … and they are very proud to have been chosen for the honor:

Mark Wahlberg not only received glowing reviews for his undertstated performance as the real-life junior welterweight Mickey Ward in The Fighter, but he unexpectedly landed a national magazine cover. Sports Illustrated features the actor, 39, stripped down to fighter gear, and lauds the film as the “Best Sports Movie of the Decade.” This also marks one of the rare times in the 56-year history of the publication that a non-athlete has graced the cover. Wahlberg’s Fighter costar, Christian Bale (who plays Mickey’s older half-brother and trainer, Dickie Eklund), poses with him. “As somebody who always dreamed of being a professional athlete,” Wahlberg says, “to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated is an amazing accomplishment.” In fact, it’s a knockout.

I’ve heard enough buzz about this film to make me want to see The Fighter. My initial reaction is that it would be exactly like The Wrestler but with boxing … but I cannot ignore all the great things I’m hearing about the film. I have no doubt that Christian Bale gives a stellar performance but I’m weary of Marky Mark. In my opinion, he always plays the same character in every film he does … and The Fighter looks like no exception. Still, I think I’ll have to see the film and judge for myself if all the hype is valid or not.

‘The Fighter’ Premieres In Hollywood

Marky Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale and Amy Adams were joined by a select group of guests at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood, CA last night for the LA premiere of their new film The Fighter. Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals:

I’m totally not feeling Christian‘s curly curls … at all. Marky Mark looked pretty good all clean cut and handsome. The Fighter smells to me like it’s trying to be this year’s The Wrestler. To be honest, Wahlberg plays the same character in almost every film so I’m thinkin’ I might have to take a pass on this one. If I do decide to check it out, it’ll be because I love Christian Bale‘s work (curly hair, notwithstanding). I’m not sure I’m all that interested in watching a movie about a down and out fighter who battles his way back to the top of the heap. Meh. It’s been done to death. Still … as I said, Bale is a big draw. Is this movie for you? Will you be paying out the $$$ to see The Fighter in theaters?

"We never committed to making the movie"
Mark Wahlberg Says That He Will NOT Play The Crow In The Redux Film

Last month we read a disheartening report that claimed that Marky Mark Wahlberg was in talks to play The Crow in the planned upcoming remake film (which was scheduled to begin filming over the Summer). Today we hear from Marky Mark himself and, thankfully, he reveals that he will NOT be playing The Crow … much to my immense relief:

Mark Whalberg, star and producer of the new movie ‘The Fighter,’ told Cinematical that contrary to earlier reports, he is not going to be a part of the forthcoming remake of ‘The Crow.’ “We never committed to making the movie,” Wahlberg said in a one-on-one interview in Los Angeles on Saturday. “They talked to me about it and there was a director attached who I was a fan of, and he’s no longer doing it. We just thought about it – ‘is there something cool to be done there?’ But we’re not committed to making the movie.”

Thank you gods, Thank you gods, Thank you gods, Thank you gods, Thank you gods, Thank you gods, Thank you gods, Thank you gods, Thank you gods, Thank you gods, Thank you gods, Thank you gods, Thank you gods, Thank you gods, Thank you gods, Thank you gods, Thank you gods, Thank you gods, Thank you gods, Thank you gods, Thank you gods, Thank you gods … that is all.

Please, gods, NO!
Will Mark Wahlberg Star In The Planned Movie Remake Of ‘The Crow’?

It appears that plans to remake the amazing 1994 film The Crow are still moving forward despite the fact that production has, seemingly, hit a few roadblocks. In November of last year we first learned that plans were in the works to remake The Crow and in February of this year we learned that production was due to begin filming over the Summer … since then, tho, there has been no word on the status of the film … until now. Today we learn from Bloody Disgusting that the lead role of Eric Draven/The Crow has been offered to, get this, Marky Mark Wahlberg!

Bloody Disgusting has confirmed exclusively that Mark Wahlberg was offered the lead role in Relativity Media’s The Crow, a remake of the 1994 film that starred Brandon Lee as a man (Eric Draven) brutally murdered that comes back to life as an undead avenger of his and his fiancée’s murder. The film was an adaptation of James O’Barr’s incredible comic series. Iconic musician and acclaimed screenwriter Nick Cave has been working on a rewrite with Stephen Norrington (Blade, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen ) attached to direct. The new tale is said to take place in Detroit. Now, the offer has been made, therefore Wahlberg could (and hopefully will) decline. I can’t say this news has me swimming in excitement.

UGH … as if the thought of a Crow remake didn’t worry me before, this news really worries me now. Nothing against Marky Mark but he doesn’t strike me as the right kind of actor to play the part. I am encouraged, I must confess, by the news that Nick Cave is working on the script … and really pleased that the movie will be set in Detroit, MI (as it should) but the fact that they offered the part to Marky Mark just … worries me. Now, just because he was offered the role doesn’t mean he’ll take it. Let’s hope that if this Crow remake has to get made that they find the right man to play the part … someone like Ryan Gosling?

Mark Wahlberg Gets A Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Marky Mark Whalberg, who made a name for himself in Hollywood by dropping his pants before launching a rap career with his group The Funky Bunch, was honored with his very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this week. Here are photos from Marky‘s Walk of Fame ceremony and some deets from the event itself:

Mark Wahlberg was honored with a star on the Walk of Fame today, becoming the 2,414 star to receive the honor. Wahlberg next appears opposite Will Ferrell in the comedy “The Other Guys,” opening Aug. 6. Ferrell introduced his co-star, joking, “I first became a fan of his from his workout videos. And I loved him in the Bourne movies.” Taking the stage, former rap star and underwear model Wahlberg referenced his past careers and thanked “all the people gutsy enough to put me in movies.” At one point, he brought his nearly 2-year-old son to the stage, who proceeded to play with the microphone during the speech. Wahlberg wrapped up by saying, I gotta get this kid something to eat so I’m gonna go now.” Wahlberg made his film debut for director Penny Marshall in “Renaissance Man” and earned an Oscar nomination for “The Departed.” Other films include “Max Payne,” “The Perfect Storm” and “The Italian Job.” He also serves as executive producer on the HBO series “Entourage,” “In Treatment,” “How to Make it in America” and the upcoming “Boardwalk Empire.”

It just goes to show you how far a career in underwear modeling can take you. Marky made it a point to publicly thank Penny Marshall for casting him in his first film … were it not for her, he might never have gotten to the point where he became worthy of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. To be honest, I’m not a huge fan of Marky‘s acting career … the first film I ever took note of him as an actor was The Perfect Storm and I understand he turned in a pretty fantastic performance in The Departed … but I’ve seen more than enough terrible films overshadow his few good ones. BUT, the Hollywood Walk of Fame is not really in the biz of honoring the most talented folks in Hollywood … still, it is an honor nonetheless. I suppose congratulations are in order for Mr. Whalberg … I mean, right?

Here's the beef!
Mark Wahlberg Flabs Out For His New Movie

Last July we got our first look at Marky Mark Wahlberg and co-star Christian Bale on the set of their new film The Fighter. Back then, Marky looked all muscular and hawt … while Christian looked like a methed-out crack head. Today we get to see new photos of Wahlberg on the set of this new film … but all those hawt muscles are now gone, replaced by a whole lot of flab:

When Mark Wahlberg first leaped to fame in the Nineties, he quickly gained a legion of female fans thanks to his toned six-pack. But spotted filming his latest film The Fighter in Los Angeles yesterday, the 38-year-old was a far cry from his former toned self as he displayed a rounded paunch. Wahlberg is playing American welterweight boxer ‘Irish’ Micky Ward in his new film, who spent several years away from the ring before being convinced to return by his half-brother Dickie Ecklund. Given the actor’s out-of-shape appearance yesterday, it is clear he is filming scenes from Ward’s three-year hiatus from boxing. When Wahlberg started filming last year, he was looking buff after training for 18 months for the role. But after taking a few months off working out, Wahlberg’s toned stomach has turned podgy in preparation for scenes featuring Ward’s brief retirement. The Fighter, which is due for release this summer, has been a long-time coming for Wahlberg, who first signed on to star in the movie in 2007. He started training immediately, but was concerned after Darren Aronofsky withdrew from directing the role, before David O Russell signed on last April. Brad Pitt was due to play Ecklund, but dropped out and was replaced by Christian Bale. Ever the method actor, Bale was spotted looking emaciated on set of the film last summer to play Ecklund, who struggled with an addiction to crack cocaine and spent time in prison for various charges, including drug possession.

Yeesh … talk about your method acting. I have to say, tho, that this weight gain by Wahlberg isn’t nearly as serious as the emaciating weight loss that Bale endured for his role in this film. Marky may be a bit beefier but he doesn’t look all that bad … Christian Bale looked TERRIBLE in the photos we saw last Summer. I would hope this new film turns out to be a box office hit … it’d be a shame for these guys to put their bodies thru this must stress for a box office bomb.

Marky Mark and the Funky Bride
Mark Wahlberg & Rhea Durham Got Hitched!

Congratulations are in order for Marky Mark Wahlberg and his longtime girlfriend/babymama/fiancée Rhea Durham cuz, as rumors suggested, the happy couple tied the knot and were wed in a not-so-quiet ceremony at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Beverly Hills, CA yesterday afternoon. While the wedding itself wasn’t a big secret, the guestlist was pretty intimate … only the couples three children and 12 guests were in attendance. After all these years together, they finally got hitched, y’all:

Mark Wahlberg has finally made it official! The actor and his longtime girlfriend, model Rhea Durham, tied the knot on Saturday, PEOPLE has confirmed. The couple, who have three children – Ella Rae, 5, Michael, 3, and 10-month-old Brendan Joseph – were married Saturday in an intimate and romantic ceremony attended by their children and about 12 close friends and family at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Beverly Hills. Wahlberg donned a dark suit and the bride wore a white strapless dress with silver embroidery and a Neil Lane diamond-and-platinum cushion-cut ring complemented by a diamond bracelet and earrings. “She looked like a princess and beyond stunning. Mark looked ecstatic,” says an eyewitness shortly after the ceremony, which lasted for about 45 minutes in the church, which was decorated with candles and pink and light purple roses. The groom-to-be, 38, spent a quiet pre-wedding moment alone at the church Friday afternoon. Wahlberg, looking happy and relaxed, sat down in the front row before returning home to his Beverly Hills home for a small gathering.

Marky Mark confessed to the press earlier this year that he and Rhea were thinking about an August wedding (at the time, I was assumed that the couple would wed in his hometown of Boston, MA) … then word began to spread Friday that Saturday would be the big day here in SoCal. I understand that Marky Mark will be starring opposite Rachel Weisz in Peter Jackson‘s big screen adaptation of the Alice Sebold novel The Lovely Bones (due to hit theaters on December 11) … since I’m not a big fan of Entourage (the HBO series he executive produces), Lovely Bones is his next project I’m looking forward to seeing (and is a book I’m desperate to read, it’s on my book pile now). In any event, much love and congrats goes out to Marky & Rhea on their nuptials … it took long enough, didn’t it ;)
