Mark Wahlberg & Rhea Durham Got Hitched!

Marky Mark and the Funky Bride
Sunday, August 2nd, 2009

Congratulations are in order for Marky Mark Wahlberg and his longtime girlfriend/babymama/fiancée Rhea Durham cuz, as rumors suggested, the happy couple tied the knot and were wed in a not-so-quiet ceremony at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Beverly Hills, CA yesterday afternoon. While the wedding itself wasn’t a big secret, the guestlist was pretty intimate … only the couples three children and 12 guests were in attendance. After all these years together, they finally got hitched, y’all:

Mark Wahlberg has finally made it official! The actor and his longtime girlfriend, model Rhea Durham, tied the knot on Saturday, PEOPLE has confirmed. The couple, who have three children – Ella Rae, 5, Michael, 3, and 10-month-old Brendan Joseph – were married Saturday in an intimate and romantic ceremony attended by their children and about 12 close friends and family at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Beverly Hills. Wahlberg donned a dark suit and the bride wore a white strapless dress with silver embroidery and a Neil Lane diamond-and-platinum cushion-cut ring complemented by a diamond bracelet and earrings. “She looked like a princess and beyond stunning. Mark looked ecstatic,” says an eyewitness shortly after the ceremony, which lasted for about 45 minutes in the church, which was decorated with candles and pink and light purple roses. The groom-to-be, 38, spent a quiet pre-wedding moment alone at the church Friday afternoon. Wahlberg, looking happy and relaxed, sat down in the front row before returning home to his Beverly Hills home for a small gathering.

Marky Mark confessed to the press earlier this year that he and Rhea were thinking about an August wedding (at the time, I was assumed that the couple would wed in his hometown of Boston, MA) … then word began to spread Friday that Saturday would be the big day here in SoCal. I understand that Marky Mark will be starring opposite Rachel Weisz in Peter Jackson’s big screen adaptation of the Alice Sebold novel The Lovely Bones (due to hit theaters on December 11) … since I’m not a big fan of Entourage (the HBO series he executive produces), Lovely Bones is his next project I’m looking forward to seeing (and is a book I’m desperate to read, it’s on my book pile now). In any event, much love and congrats goes out to Marky & Rhea on their nuptials … it took long enough, didn’t it ;)

Frail Bale & Beefy Marky Mark On The Set Of ‘The Fighter’

Thick & Thin
Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

Yesterday we saw a couple of somewhat disturbing photos of a very gaunt-looking Christian Bale on the set of his new film The Fighter. In the flick, Bale plays a boxing coach turned drug addict and had to slim down for the role. Today we get to see another photo of Bale on set along with his Fighter co-star Mark Wahlberg who, as you can guess, plays a fighter in the film:

I love that this photo of Marky Mark reminds me of his infamous pants-dropping days back in the 90’s when he was a model for Calvin Klein underwear. Additionally, these new photos of Christian Frail remind me a lot of Jennifer Lopez’s husband Marc Anthony. I really hope the Skeletor-look doesn’t become a new thing in Hollywood. I like a little muscly meat on my men, don’t you?

LA Lakers Win Game 5 Of The NBA Finals

Stayin' Alive in Game 5
Monday, June 16th, 2008

Woot! Folks here in LA are celebratin’ today that their beloved LA Lakers came back from a 3-1 deficit in the 2008 NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics and won Game 5 of the championship series at the Staples Center here in downtown LA last night. After their disappointing performance in Game 4, many naysayers were predicting that Boston would win last night’s game and send the Lakers home empty-handed and they would be taking the championship trophy with them back East to Boston … but the Lakers woke up, played like they’ve been playing all season long and pulled out another win, bringing the series tally to 3-2:

Pack up the championship trophy and book a flight back to Boston, the NBA finals aren’t over yet. The Los Angeles Lakers are headed East to try a historic comeback of their own. Kobe Bryant scored 25 points, including a decisive dunk in the final minute — and Lamar Odom added 20 as the Lakers, playing with pride on their star-studded stage, prevented the Celtics from winning a 17th title with a 103-98 win in Game 5 on Sunday night to close to 3-2 in this restored rivalry. No team has overcome a 3-1 deficit in the finals to win a title. The first 28 failed, and now the Lakers, who blew a 24-point lead and lost Game 4 and nearly squandered a 19-point lead in Game 5, have a chance to do something extraordinary. They’ll have to win on the Celtics’ parquet floor Tuesday night to force a winner-take-all Game 7, where anything is possible … The Lakers needed to hold on to set up a Game 6 on Tuesday night back in Boston. A Celtics victory would give them 17 championships, and the first for their trio of Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen.

Of course, the Lakers faithful showed up in full force at the Staples Center last night … Including LA’s biggest fan of all …
