How to Destroy Angels releases debut EP today!
Mariqueen Maandig Reznor Confirms Pregnancy To ‘Women’s Wear Daily’

Mariqueen Maandig Reznor, beautiful wife of and new musical collaborator with Trent Reznor, has confirmed officially to Women’s Wear Daily that she and TR are expecting their first child! Q talks to WWD a bit about her pregnancy, her love of fashion and the new self-titled EP from How to Destroy Angels (her new band project with TR) which is released in stores today. Here is a photo of the lovely Mrs. Rez along with some excerpts from her new interview:

Mariqueen Maandig, the 29-year-old singer of How to Destroy Angels, prefers to maintain a little anonymity. It’s hardly surprising considering she’s married to rock’s extraordinarily private Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails. “I like to stay in a shroud of mystery,” Maandig says. “I tell people [Trent and I] met at a Mensa meeting, because we met under such unusual circumstances,” she continues, declining to elaborate. Maandig even tried to keep her pregnancy under wraps. “There have been requests for photo shoots with these recent interviews, and I needed a good reason to decline,” she says. But now there’s a good reason for the public to know her business. She — along with Reznor, 45, and his longtime collaborator Atticus Ross, 42 — are set to release How to Destroy Angels’ self-titled debut EP today. Known as Q to her friends, Maandig was born in the Philippines but grew up in Orange County. She always knew she wanted to be in show business but wasn’t sure which part of it appealed to her most. “For a brief period in my youth I really wanted to do Broadway,” she says. “But after being in one school musical I realized I wasn’t into [it] as much as I thought, so that dream died.” She continued to sing in her school choir. “Then I got into ‘Miss Saigon,’ which sparked my interest in singing [professionally],” Maandig says. (For the record, her fandom of Nine Inch Nails extended as follows: “I had a couple of his albums but never went to any of his shows or bought any T-shirts.”) But Maandig was also “really into fashion.” So following high school she majored in merchandise marketing at Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandise in Orange County. After becoming “uninspired,” she dropped out. “My friend saw that I was really unhappy and asked me what my skills were, and I told her that I can sing,” she recalls. That friend subsequently introduced Maandig to the bass player of psychedelic indie-rock L.A. band West Indian Girl … Then she met Reznor (though she’s not saying how) and they became engaged in spring 2009. By summer she had left West Indian Girl to pursue her own career. She joined Reznor on his “Wave Goodbye” tour and married him in October. Soon they started experimenting with their own music. With Maandig on vocals and synthesizer and Reznor producing the majority of instrumentals with Ross, the trio put together a six-song EP that Maandig describes as more feminine and subtler than Reznor’s unambiguously hard sound … Plans for a full-length follow-up are on hold due to Maandig’s pregnancy, but the band hopes for it in early 2011. Reznor and Ross are also working on a film soundtrack, the name of which they naturally won’t disclose. But right now, the biggest project on Maandig’s mind is a baby name: “I have a list, it’s so hard. It’s like here’s a brand-new life and you’re in charge of it, now go!”

Firstly, MUCH LOVE and CONGRATS to the happy couple on the news of the forthcoming Baby Reznor!! I am quite confident that the couple are elated beyond words. Second, altho How to Destroy Angels already released their debut EP for free online, I know fans will want to rush out to buy the physical copy today as well … so get out there and buy those EPs. As you may recall, Trent Reznor announced last week that he is scoring the upcoming soundtrack to the new David Fincher film The Social Network (due out later this year) so … the Reznors have got A LOT going on. Let’s send them all our love and congrats today. Isn’t this just the best news … I couldn’t be happier for the expanding family :D

The TV Guide
Congratulations Are In Order

Yesterday was a pretty fantastic day all around … not only was it a beautiful SoCal day but it was one that full of love, friendship and endless amounts of happiness. The day started off with a trip to the dealership so that David and I could take possession of our beautiful new car:

David and I have been planning on getting a second car for AGES but because we’ve been traveling so much the past few months we never got around to getting it together enough to find the right car. Because this is David’s first car he wanted to find the perfect one … after checking out a few models we decided to go with the 2010 Cadillac CTS. Folks, this car is phat … and at long last we don’t have to fight over who’s gonna get the car at any given time. I hope you’ll join me in sending congrats to my boo. David looks good next to our new ride, don’t he?

If you can believe it, the day got even better. David and I were invited to a very special wedding ceremony which took place last night … we were honored to attend and enjoyed one of the best nights of our lives with a very special couple who celebrated their love with family and friends. After the jump, check out some fun photos from the festive event last night …

13th annual
The 2009 Webby Awards Are Handed Out

The 13th Annual Webby Awards were handed out at Cipriani Wall Street in NYC last night and a who’s who of celebs and tech geeks came out for nerdly event. Each year, the Webby Awards are handed out by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences and honor excellence on the Internet — including websites, interactive advertising, online film & video and mobile web sites. The man of the hour this year was Trent Reznor of the very Internet-friendly band Nine Inch Nails who was honored at this year’s Webby Awards as the Artist of the Year. Here is Trent with his beautiful fiancée Mariqueen Maandig all dolled up in suit and tie on the red carpet along with other celebs who came out for the event:

It is the awards show where techies are greeted like rock stars. Described by some as the Oscars of the Web, the Webby Awards pay homage to the best of the Internet. From videos that went viral to the stars who graced them, the 13th annual Webby Awards on Monday night gave online pioneers their due respect in the form of a trophy one recipient described as a “bedspring.” Known for its unorthodox format, the irreverent awards ceremony featured its traditional five-word speeches and videos showcasing the “raw talent” found only online. Seth Meyers of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” hosted the show, and this year’s recipients reflected the diverse Internet audience. Honorees included Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor for artist of the year and The Huffington Post’s Arianna Huffington, who won for best political blog. Huffington’s speech was a tad defensive: “I didn’t kill newspapers, OK?” This year’s show unveiled a new category, Webby for Internet famous, to honor those who had created an online following. There were also those whose fame segued from television to the Web, such as Lisa Kudrow, who won for her role as an online therapist in “Web Therapy” and Sarah Silverman for “The Great Schlep” and “I’m F**king Matt Damon.” Tweeting his way to the top of the pack was Biz Stone, who garnered the Webby for breakout of the year as co-creator of the Internet phenom, the micro-blogging site Twitter. There were no upsets among the categories as they had been announced before Monday’s star-studded gala at Wall Street’s Cipriani. But there were some surprises, such as when recipient Richard Buschman uttered his five-word speech: “Erna, will you marry me?” No one was more surprised than Buschman’s fiancée, Erna Bomers, who had been told to come to film the speech so her boyfriend could share it with his co-workers. Actress Cameron Diaz presented a Webby to late-night talk-show host Jimmy Fallon for person of the year. His speech? “Thank God, Conan got promoted.” Of course, Fallon was referring to Conan O’Brien, who moved over to “The Tonight Show,” allowing Fallon to air. And the man whom the Webbys credit for creating the Worldwide Web, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by journalist Charlie Rose. Berners-Lee received the only standing ovation of the evening and wrapped up the hope for the Internet’s future with this statement: “Free. Open. Keep one Web.”

Woot! Congrats to all the winners of this year’s Webby Awards. Nerds Rule!! As you may have gathered, it is customary for acceptace speeches at the Webbys to consist of just 5 words. As I mentioned above, Trent Reznor was honored as the Artist of the Year — after the jump, watch video of his 5-word acceptance speech and check out a few Twitpics posted from the event by my new friends Rob Sheridan and Tamar Levine

A star-studded affair beams the new 'Trek' into town
‘Star Trek’ Premieres In Hollywood, CA

The principle cast, along with a few folks from previous incarnations of the franchise as well as a few celeb fans, made their way out to Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood, CA last night for the Hollywood premiere of JJ Abrams‘s new Star Trek film (tho you may recall that the film already premiered in Sydney, Australia and London, England). Hollywood Blvd. teemed with Trekkies and celebs alike clamoring to be a part of the big party … and David and I were lucky enough to be among them. Here are a few pics of the new cast of Star Trek making their entrances on the red carpet (which was actually black and silver) and
