Cate Blanchett Does British ‘Marie Claire’ Magazine

Just beautiful
Monday, October 20th, 2008

Here are a few photos from a photoshoot that Academy Award-winning actress and all around BEAUTY Cate Blanchett did for British Marie Claire magazine earlier this summer. Altho the photos aren’t new, it is the first time that I have seen them and because of their stark simplicity, I felt it incumbent to share:

I mean holy cheekbones, y’all. Cate Blanchett is just the serious hotness. You’d be hard-pressed to find an unattractive photo of Cate, I think. Not only is she an amazing actress (I just re-watched Notes on a Scandal last week and was reminded how amazing she was in that film) but she is also, I think, one of those flawlessly beautiful women that you don’t see very much of in Hollywood. She is deffo one of my faves and I love posting photos of this lovely lady.

Lindsay Lohan Does UK ‘Marie Claire’ Magazine

"At some point, I want to adopt a kid ..." - Lindsay Lohan
Friday, October 3rd, 2008

Lindsay Lohan is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of UK Marie Claire magazine. In her coverstory interview, Lindsay makes a few startling revelations concerning her future plans (she wants to adopt, y’all) and talks a bit about her relationship with Samantha Ronson (which you know the magazine was happy to ask about) among other things. Here is Lindsay’s Marie Claire coverphoto and portions of her interview:

Lindsay Lohan may only be 22, but she’s already started making plans to adopt a child. The reformer Hollywood hellraiser insists she is happier than ever since finding love with DJ Samantha Ronson and is looking forward to the future. After experiencing a difficult childhood and past few years, Lohan believes her life experience would make her a good mother. She tells the latest edition of Marie Claire magazine: “At some point, I want to adopt a kid as well. A child in need or a newborn from another country. I’m not sure yet.” Lohan would be the latest in a long list of Hollywood stars who have adopted, including Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, Sharon Stone, Sheryl Crow, Calista Flockhart and Mia Farrow. After months of rumours, Lohan finally confirmed she was in a relationship with Ronson – sister of artist/producer Mark Ronson – last month. Speaking to the magazine, a defiant Lohan declared: “People can think what they want. I’m really happy and that’s all that matters.” Some have credited Ronson with helping Lohan get her life back in order after stints in rehab, a spell in jail as well as being sentenced to community service following her driving under the influence arrests. While Lohan acknowledges Ronson has been a great help in her life, she insists it is her alone who has dealt with her problems. She said: “(Samantha’s) a great person. But I think that anything that’s changed in my life is because of me. I’ve gone through it and I’ve had to deal with it and I’ve made the decision to move forward. So, yeah, she’s a great person.” The couple are so happy together they are reportedly looking at buying an apartment together in New York. Earlier this week, the couple were photographed looking loved up on holiday in Mexico.

Nice. I love that Lindsay is taking credit for her own well-being … I may have prematurely joined the chorus of folks who have credited Samantha for the positive changes in Lindsay’s life — she is right to say that all the positivity in her life begins with her. I also applaud Lindsay’s refusal to listen to speculation about her relationship with Samantha. In the end, it’s their business and their business alone … it really does sound like Linds is in a great place, I’m happy to hear that she’s doing so well. After the jump, check out a few of Lindsay’s photos from her spread in this issue of Marie Claire magazine …

Beyoncé Does ‘Marie Claire’ Magazine

She wants to be an iconic legend, y'all
Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Beyoncé Knowles is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new UK issue of Marie Claire magazine … in her coverstory interview, Ms. B confesses that she wants to outlive the pop star shelf life and transition into legendhood. Yeah, good luck with that Miss Thang:

Forget mere celebrity. Beyoncé says she aspires to icon status. “There is a time limit on being a pop star, yes,” the Grammy-winning singer tells the October issue of Marie Claire’s U.K. edition. “Being a legend, an icon? Absolutely not.” “I’m over being a pop star,” Beyoncé, 26, adds. “I don’t wanna be a hot girl – I wanna be iconic.” Still, she admits to being frustrated with the demands of her career: “There are responsibilities that come along with this life … trying to have a romantic meal without someone sneaking in to film the whole thing,” says Beyoncé, who married Jay-Z in April. “I have to work really hard and it’s fine because I like it, I love it, but it’s a lot of sacrifice.” Acknowledging the challenges of being a minority in Hollywood, Beyoncé gives a nod to her own role models: “I think I’m opening doors for more black women, just like Halle Berry and Diana Ross opened doors for me.” The singer also expressed a sense of excitement for the political future. Regarding Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, she says, “I’m really proud. I think we’re making a bit of progress, it’s an exciting time. We all feel part of our country now.”

At least she’s modest. After the jump, check out some other photos from her Marie Claire photospread …
