Mariah Carey is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Redbook magazine this month and in her coverstory interview, she reveals to the world how she likes to get into the Xmas spirit … or should I say the XXXmas spirit?

How does Mariah Carey plan to make the season bright for hubby of six months Nick Cannon? “I always get Santa lingerie, even if nobody sees it,” the singer, 39, tells Redbook’ for its December issue. “But this year it will be appreciated!” Stripping down for the holidays is apparently a Carey holiday tradition. “[My girlfriends and I] go in the hot tub in our Christmas bikinis, then roll in the fresh snow and jump back in,” says the songbird, who usually opts for “a red bikini with a Santa hat.” But that doesn’t mean she isn’t excited about starting her own sweet traditions with Cannon. “I’m really looking forward to being in love on Christmas,” she says. “The holidays are always great, but being in love … is going to be the icing on the cake.”

I love it! Mimi really does know how to make the yuletide bright! While I highly doubt that her idea of celebrating Xmas is in line with celebrations from days of yore, I think that her new hubby Nick Cannon will have no complaints this holiday season. Newishweds Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon played host at Marquee nightclub in NYC last night at the club’s annual Halloween party. Nick actually did double duty as he also DJed last night’s soiree … Mimi, on the other hand, was just there to look hot. Mimi and Nick arrived on the back of an actual NYC firetruck to much fanfare … but the couple did not remain in these costumes for long. Celebs of varying caliber in the acting, music and fashion world came out for a swanky night of hob-nobbing at the 2008 Whitney Museum of American Art Gala in NYC last night. Here are a few photos of some of the folks who made their way to the soiree in order to strut their stuff on the red carpet:

The theme for the gala was Whitney — Past, Present and Future which I assume was meant to refer to the artwork on display rather than the regular ol’ stuff we saw on the red carpet fashion-wise. Mariah Carey and her childhubby Nick Cannon made their way out to the Whitney affair last night lookin’ as mismatched as ever … tho not as mismatched a pair as Patrick Dempsey and Donatella Versace looked. Dr. McHotPants was lookin’ smokin’ in his Versace suit … Donatella just looked hungry. Christina Ricci made sure that her expensive dress was cut just so in order to show off her very classy tattoo and Juliette Lewis was most likely just there for the free drinks. Oh yeah. Sounds like a fun time in the Big Apple last night. Hurray for the Arts!

Newishlyweds Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey were both on hand at Pure nightclub inside Caesar’s Palace Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV last night for a birthday party celebration in honor of Nick‘s 28th birthday (which is today). You may recall that Mimi made her way to Vegas this past weekend so she could shoot her new music video there. I guess the couple decided to stay a little longer for Nick‘s bday. Here are a few pics and some deets from last night’s festivities:

His birthday wasn’t until Wednesday, but Nick Cannon got the party started early with a sweet surprise from wife Mariah Carey. The actor – who Deejayed during his bash Tuesday night at Pure Nightclub in Las Vegas – took time to give a “shout out to my beautiful wife in the building.” Carey held court at a VIP table next to Cannon’s deejay booth, where the soon-to-be 28-year-old spun rock and hip hop for nearly three hours. Later, she arranged for a birthday cake to be brought out for her husband-of-five-months. “Thank you, my love,” he said into the microphone. “We about to take this to the next level!” The two have staying at the Bellagio since Saturday, when they arrived in Vegas to shoot Carey’s new music video. (Cannon directed the clip for her single, “I Stay in Love.”) Tuesday night kicked off with a private dinner at Rao’s, where Cannon and Carey noshed on lemon chicken and meatballs. “They were very sweet with each other,” said a source. Nick, inspired by the Italian cuisine, also boasted that he makes “a great clam sauce.”

The event was billed as “Mariah Carey Hosts Nick Cannon‘s Birthday Party” presumably because her name brings in more partygoers than his does … but something tells me that he didn’t mind one bit. I mean, HELLO! He is married to Mariah freakin’ Carey! I don’t believe that Nick received any birthday presents last night because, let’s face it, he’s already used up all his “gifts karma” by nabbing Mimi as his wife. Even still … Happy Birthday, Nick!

Mariah Carey was spotted enjoying a night on the town in Las Vegas, NV last night without new hubby Nick Cannon. Scandal!! I think that this is the first waking moment that Mimi ventured out in public without her young husband clutching to the hem of garment, following behind since the couple were wed back in May. Here are a couple pics of Mimi‘s red carpet arrival at The Bank nightclub (the site of Mario Lopez‘s pre-birthday party the night before) inside the Bellagio Hotel and Casino last night:

You know, I think it’s nice that Mariah and Nick have finally gotten out of the honeymoon phase and are starting to do things separately. I understand that Mimi is in Vegas this weekend to shoot her new music video which will be filmed at The Bank sometime today. No word on what Nick is doing but I can imagine it involves some sort of pining away on a tear-soaked pillow for his absent wife.

Now that Mimi is taking her acting career seriously again, I think it’s a great idea that she keep an eye on what other thespians in the Arts are up to in order to help her hone her own skills. Never fear, y’all … just cuz you missed seeing Tennessee at this year’s Urbanworld Film Festival doesn’t mean that all hope is lost … no siree … it is being reported that Mariah Carey‘s first movie since her disastrous movie Glitter will, in fact, be making its way to movie theaters this December. Seven years after her disastrous movie headlining debut “Glitter,” pop star Mariah Carey will return to theaters in December. Vivendi Entertainment has acquired all domestic rights to the road trip drama “Tennessee,” which premiered at this spring’s Tribeca Film Festival in New York. The quiet — and at times moody — drama centers on two lower-middle class brothers (Adam Rothenberg, Ethan Peck) who take to the road to resolve their economic and health challenges. Along the way they meet a waitress (Carey) whose dreams of a singing career have been dashed by a bad marriage. Though not a musical, director Lee Daniels’ film features Carey performing the original ballad “Right to Dream,” which she co-wrote with Willie Nelson.

Has it been 7 years already? My, how time flies. In her defense, I hear that Tennessee is much different, much better than Glitter (which can’t be too hard to achieve, right?) and in all honesty, I’m actually looking forward to seeing Mimi up on the big screen again. Tho, I’m hoping that her cameo role in this year’s You Don’t Mess With The Zohan is no indication of her acting prowess these days … cuz … yeah. Oh and I’m glad to see that the newlyweds are still all in the holding hands almost every second of the day stage of their marriage. Surely, they’ll be together forever. So … any Glitter fans out there? Are any of y’all looking forward to seeing Mimi in a serious acting role?

Celebs and musicians of all sorts made their way out to Radio City Music Hall in NYC last night to be a part of Conde Nast Media Group‘s 5th Anniversary Fashion Rocks concert event, which seeks to honor and celebrate the convergence of music and fashion. Here are a few pics from the Fashion Rocks red carpet arrivals:

Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus and Charlize Theron were among the celebrities who appeared at the fifth annual Fashion Rocks concert celebrating the relationship between music and fashion. They walked the red carpet Friday night at Radio City Music Hall amid a media circus angling for glamour shots of other stars including Fergie, Rihanna, Chris Brown and the “Gossip Girl” gang. Brown, the R&B heartthrob, soaked up all the attention with a smile as he showed off his dapper ensemble of a black vest and shirt, gray pants, shiny shoes and diamond stud earrings. “To be a musician and a great entertainer, you have to be a trendsetter. To be a trendsetter, you have to know fashion — and I have fun with it,” explained the singer, who later changed into khakis and a black shirt and scarf for a performance of his hit song “Forever.” The event will air Tuesday in a two-hour special on CBS. Proceeds will benefit Stand Up To Cancer, a program established by the Entertainment Industry Foundation to raise money for cancer research. Stand Up To Cancer held a live telethon that aired simultaneously on ABC, NBC and CBS on Friday night … Other performers included Timberlake, Kid Rock, Keith Urban, Duffy, the Pussycat Dolls and the Black Eyed Peas. A highlight was Timberlake and Beyonce’s sizzling duet of “Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing,” which channeled the soulful sound of the classic song’s original singers, Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. Stars mingled and sipped cocktails backstage in the green room, where Leighton Meester of the CW teen drama “Gossip Girl” and her actor-beau Sebastian Stan hung out before she introduced Duffy’s performance of “Mercy.” Meester’s “Gossip” co-star Chace Crawford chatted up actress Hayden Panettiere, who embraced her rock-star side in a silver Ferragamo minidress and black heels. “I usually try to mix class and then really funk it out,” Panettiere said of her personal style. “It’s rock meets class. I try — not always succeed, but I try.”

Wow, this really does sound like a star-studded event … I can’t wait to check it out when it airs on Tuesday night. I understand there were some very cool performances, including one from Rihanna that I will be talking about in a bit.
