'The Bold & The Beautiful' wins Best Daytime Drama for the first time ever!!!
The 2009 Daytime Emmy Awards Are Handed Out

Daytime television’s biggest night took place at The Orpheum Theatre here in Los Angeles, CA where the 2009 Daytime Emmy Awards were handed out in a lavish ceremony hosted by actress/singer Vanessa Williams. The daytime drama The Bold & The Beautiful (one of my faves) took home the big prize of Best Daytime Drama for the first time in it’s 22 year history while Christian LeBlanc, from The Young & The Restless (another of my faves), took home the aware for Best Actor. Here are a few pics from the red carpet arrivals at last night’s affair:

Yes, Stacy Haiduk (who plays Mary Jane Benson/Patty Williams a crazy woman who believes her dead cat is still alive after losing her mind a bit by changing her entire face in order to stalk and seduce Jack Abbott on Y&R) brought a stuffed cat with her as her date to the Daytime Emmys … but it’s okay cuz her crazy-ass character on the show made that stuffed cat a star! While there were a lot of awards handed out last night, the big enchilada went to The Bold & The Beautiful. After the jump, check out a few photos from the show itself and a few photos of some of the winners posing with their new Emmys in the press room after the awards were handed out — plus, read all about B&B‘s big win which was 22 years in the making …

The tour rolls into town
‘Spring Awakening’ Opens In LA

The hit Broadway musical Spring Awakening had its red carpet opening here in LA last night at the Ahmanson Theater. This touring version of the show, whose last stop was San Francisco, CA, has made its way to LA and premiered last night. Here are a few pics from some of the red carpet arrivals last night:

As you can see, some castmembers from The CW‘s 90210 came out for last night’s premiere. You may recall that the fictional kids at West Beverly High put on a performance of Spring Awakening at their school this season on the show. Interestingly enough, none of the 90210 actors who came out for last night’s premiere were actually involved with the fictional staging of the musical on 90210 (Jessica Lowndes‘s character Adrianna was supposed to play the lead but had to be replaced after she got cracked out on drugs … on the show). David and I were very lucky to attend last night’s premiere opening and I’ll have my review in my TV Guide post later in the day. While the group of celebs who came out for last night’s opening wasn’t necessarily stellar, there were a lot of fun people in the hiz to enjoy the fun last night. Spring Awakening will run at the Ahmanson Theater until December 7.

They've now got a rep to keep
The ’90210’ Ladies Get Down To Biz

Here are a few pics of some of the ladies, both new and old, of 90210 on set here in the Los Angeles, CA area reporting for duty yesterday afternoon in order to film new scenes for upcoming eps for the show:

Shannen Doherty ain’t look all that hot in the unforgiving SoCal sun … actually, only Lori Loughlin looks like she’s ready for the cameras (little whipper-snappers AnnaLynne McCord and Shanae Grimes need to step up their respective games, yo). In any event, I’m sure each one of these ladies is very pleased with how well 90210 did in the ratings Tuesday night :) After the jump, check out the moment when Kelly Taylor re-met Brenda Walsh at the refurbished Peach Pit during the show’s series premiere …

’90210’ Promo

As September 02 draws evernear (get it? 90210 premieres on 09.02 … well, 08 cuz 10 would take too long) the hype and anticipation for the new 90210 series on The CW also grows evermore … and to fan the flames of that anticipation just a bit, here are a whole slew of new promo pics of the principal cast of characters moving into Beverly Hills, 90210 this Fall:

After the jump, check out individual cast photos of the 90210 kids and 3 of the adults (tho, none of the “special guest star” Beverly Hills, 90210 alums) …

Make an appearance at the 2008 Summer TCA Tour
The ‘90210’ Kids Come Out To Play

The entire principal cast of the new Beverly Hills, 90210 spin-off show for The CW came out and made an appearance at the 2008 Summer TCA Tour which was held at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Bev Hills, CA yesterday afternoon … here are a few pics of some of the new faces that will be showing up at West Beverly High this Fall:

Even tho the amazing CONFIRMATION that Shannen Doherty WILL BE coming back to 90210 came out earlier this week, none of the former castmembers of BH, 90210 were at yesterday’s event. As I’ve been saying, they are not the main focus of the new show. This new cast of characters will be the central focus of the story and the other “guest stars” will provide support, linking the original show to the new show. I can’t wait … at first, I was very lukewarm to the idea of a 90210 spin-off but the more I hear about it, the more I see — I’m totally on board now. I just hope that my expectations haven’t been raised too high. BH, 90210 was such a cultural phenomenon the first time around, I’m not sure if this new incarnation will have the same impact. It’s possible but … the jury’s still out. Here’s hoping the kids at West Beverly High can take the country by storm again — but just in case, we still have the Upper East Siders on Gossip Girl to fall back on if need be.
