Kylie Minogue Spends Hallowe’en In NYC With Some Famous Friends

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

As you may recall, Kylie Minogue recently performed a short tour of North America in late September and early October ending her run in NYC where she performed 3 triumphant shows at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Well, Kylie must’ve felt the pull of the Big Apple once again because she was inspired to spend Hallowe’en with some of her American BFFs over the weekend. Here is a great group photo of (from left to right) Lorenzo Martone, Fergie Ferg, Marc Jacobs, Kylie and Andrés Velencoso all dolled up on Hallowe’en:

Okay … so yeah, this will be the last Hallowe’en pic of celebs that I’ll post this year … a few days after Hallowe’en and the candy starts to taste stale, same goes for the pics ;) But this is such a great group shot, I had to share it with all y’all. I understand that these folks were partying at Club 57 at Providence Night Club in Manhattan and a great time was had by all. I believe the folks in the UK (where Kylie lives) don’t do Hallowe’en like we yanks do on this side of the pond so I can see why Kylie decided to fly back to the US to celebrate Hallowe’en right. We are happy to have her anytime she wants to come back :)

Behind The Scenes Video Of Madonna’s Latest Louis Vuitton Photoshoot

On set with her Madgesty
Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

Last week we got to see a few behind the scenes photos from the set of the new ad campaign for Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 09/10 featuring their latest spokesmodel Madonna … and today we get to see behind the scenes video. Here are a few screencaps from the 3+ minute vid:

I have to say that I really love watching candid video of Madonna. She has so much personality and it really shows thru in this cute video. To be 100% completely honest, this video is the most interesting thing of the entire new Louis Vuitton ad campaign. The actual photos themselves are just … kinda blah. This vid is really cute. After the jump, check it out in full …

Behind The Scenes Of Madonna’s Latest Louis Vuitton Photoshoot

Plus, check out another new Louis Vuitton F/W ad campaign photo
Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

Yesterday we got to see the full set of ad campaign photos for Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 09/10 featuring their latest spokesmodel Madonna and today we get to check out a couple of behind the scenes photos from the campaign photoshoot. Here are a couple pics of Maddy with head LV designer Marc Jacobs (with his man Lorezno Martone) on the set of the photoshoot earlier this year:

Marc Jacobs was so pleased with this spring’s Louis Vuitton campaign featuring Madonna that he was eager to do an encore. “But very quickly Marc said, ‘I want something completely different,’” related Antoine Arnault, Vuitton’s communication director. The new ingredients included a dash of Tamara de Lempicka and a soupçon of Man Ray for color-drenched images by Steven Meisel with a surreal edge, thanks to generous use of solarization, a technique of overexposure first perfected by Ray. “It gives something very graphic, more edgy” than the first Madonna campaign, also by Meisel, which depicted her as a French coquette in a Parisian bistro setting, Arnault said. The new spots, which break in a range of August titles, feature a variety of runway looks and leather goods, many in the house’s signature monogram. Asked about the impact of the first Madonna campaign, Arnault said, snapping his fingers for emphasis, “Everything she was wearing in the first campaign was sold within a few months. People came into the store saying, ‘I want the Madonna bag, the Madonna shoes.” Arnault declined to specify budgets for the fall ads, but said investments would be “flattish” versus last year. “We’re one of the rare brands to have not reduced investments,” he said. Also slated for the second half is a new campaign devoted to the Tambour watch.

As I mentioned yesterday, I’m not too enraptured by this new LV campaign featuring Madge, mainly because I’m not really feeling the Photoshopping effect added to the photos. As you can see from these behind the scenes photos, she looked fine without all the color manipulation (well, as fine as a grown woman can look while wearing bunny ears on her head). Even still … these campaign photos will be seen in fashion magazines around the world for the rest of the year. After the jump, check out one more LV F/W 09/10 campaign photo featuring Madonna was that not included in the batch we saw yesterday

Prince Harry Plays Polo, Wins, Raises Money For His Charity

Horsin' around with the colonists
Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Prince Harry spent much of Day 2 of his first official visit to New York City yesterday horsing around with a few compatriots at the Veuve Cliquot Manhattan Polo Classic which took place on Governor’s Island in NY harbor. As you may recall, we learned yesterday that much of Day 1 was spent touring NYC on official biz. Yesterday’s charity polo match was played in an effort to raise funds for Harry’s charity Sentebele which benefits the children of Lesotho. Here are a few pics of Prince Harry doin’ his thang atop a horse named Serena as he lead his team to victory with a final score of 6-5:

Prince Harry ended his first trip to New York on Saturday with victory at a charity polo match and a dousing in champagne. The prince, 24, projected a newly serious image on his two-day visit to the Big Apple, kicking off his first official foreign trip by paying homage at Ground Zero, the site of the 9/11 attacks. But he was back to his glamour-loving ways Saturday at the star-studded game on Governor’s Island in the Hudson River, with Manhattan’s skyscrapers the dramatic backdrop. Riding a chestnut-colored pony called Serena he helped his team win 6-5 before an adoring crowd. Well-heeled guests and celebrities in sunglasses, suits, tiny dresses and large hats sipped Veuve Clicquot champagne, which sponsored the event, as they watched from white pavilions. On the other side of the pitch, hundreds of members of an enthusiastic public lay on the grass, roasting in the sun. All afternoon, the “mwah mwah” of air kisses mingled with the shutter snaps of paparazzi cameras and thud of galloping polo ponies. Argentine model and professional polo player Nacho Figueras, who captained the losing team, told AFP that Prince Harry was a “good player.” He dismissed suggestions before the game — staged to raise money for Prince Harry’s Lesotho children’s charity Sentebale — that he might go easy on his royal rival. “When we’re on the polo field we are all equal. That’s the way he’d like it,” said Figueras, whose appearance caused exclamations of admiration from several female journalists, including one gushing: “You’re so tall!” After the match, the famously hard-partying Prince Harry was soaked in champagne. Figueras sprayed the third in line to the British throne, who then drank from a champagne-filled trophy — and sprayed a mouthful of bubbly back. The red-headed prince is notorious for his late nights out and occasional PR gaffes, but is seen as one of the world’s most eligible bachelors. While New York is brimming with celebrities, the son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana has clearly made a mark. Invitees to the polo match included Madonna, Chloe Sevigny and fashion designer Marc Jacobs.

Rapper LL Cool J said he was thrilled. “It’s very cool he came over from London for it,” he said. The rapper, sporting diamond ear rings and shadowed by an enormous bodyguard in a black suit, said there was “a certain mystery” about royals. The closest he’d got to royalty, LL Cool J joked, was Queens — a decidedly down-to-earth area of New York City. This was Prince Harry’s first time to New York and first trip abroad as official representative of Buckingham Palace. He began on Friday with wreath-laying at Ground Zero, site of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack against the World Trade Center. He then named the British Garden in Manhattan in honor of the 67 Britons killed on 9/11 and met with veterans at a military hospital.

Congrats to Prince Harry and his team on their win … but really, it is the children who benefit from his charity Sentebele that are the real winners. I understand folks paid quite a pretty penny to attend yesterday’s event, with proceeds going to Harry’s charity. It looks like Madonna was interesting in pretty much everything else (including reading the new issue of Interview magazine which features Björk on the cover) BUT watching polo. Still, it was nice of her to grace the prince with her hallowed presence. And thus ends the first official visit to the US by his royal hawtness. We were very glad to have him and hopefully he’ll come back real soon.

Marc Jacobs Finally Puts A Ring On It

Single lady no longer
Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

After being led to believe that Marc Jacobs secretly married his boyfriend Lorenzo Martone last Summer, we learned just a few weeks ago that the couple have finally officially gotten engaged and are in the process of planning their nuptials (and mebbe adopting a baby girl??). Here are a couple pics of Marc and Lorenzo in NYC where Marc was proud to show off his new engagement bling as the couple made their way out of the Topshop VIP dinner at Balthazar last night:

It’s about time someone made an honest woman out of Marc Jacobs. His love life has been rocky and tumultuous (to say the least) in recent years but he has settled down considerably since he met Lorenzo. They make a fine couple and I’m glad to know that they are taking this big step together. Hopefully, after they say their I Dos, the couple really will adopt a little girl (as rumored) … don’t you think they’d make the best 2 days since Greg Evigan and Paul Reiser?

Is Marc Jacobs Ready To Become A Father?

First comes Lorenzo, then comes marriage, then comes the baby carriage
Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

Last Summer we heard that Marc Jacobs and his then new boyfriend Lorenzo Martone quietly got married in France, which sent small shockwaves across the Internets but quickly died down when there was no follow-up in the weeks and months after the “news” broke. This week, we learned that Jacobs and Martone got engaged apparently “for real” which prolly means that they did not get married last Summer. Now that the couple (who are currently in Brazil) are reportedly set to walk down the aisle, the latest rumor is that the men are lookin’ to adopt a baby girl to round out their new family. Here is a pic of Marc, Lorenzo and a cute little girl in Brazil that shows what the new Jacobs-Martone family might look like if they do get their wish and adopt a baby girl:

Not content with getting married Marc Jacobs is rumoured to be taking the next step towards domestic bliss by adopting a baby, Grazia reports. Since the designer’s boyfriend Lorenzo Martone popped the question the couple have been considering adopting a baby girl to share the house that Marc has just bought in New York. Complete with garden it would be the perfect place to raise a baby! Marc recently admitted that he loves to draw attention’ to his relationship, so we’re not surprised this news has made it’s way into the headlines so quickly. Is it true though or just Marc’s way of ensuring a few more column inches? If it is true we cannot wait to see the cute outfits the little girl will be modelling, the rest of the celeb baby world better watch out! Marc and Lorenzo got engaged last week and are currently in Brazil, holidaying and showing off their matching rings.

These two really make a cute couple … and whether they got pretend married before or not, I think they’ve made a really great pair all along. Marc Jacobs seems to be really grounded with Lorenzo Martone so I can see how the two of them might be ready to settle down for real. The idea of these two dads having a little girl is just too effing cute. If they do end up adopting a daughter together, you know that little girl is going to be stylin’ from head to her little toes. Congrats to the couple on their engagement and here’s hoping they are able to expand their family with a child of their own.
