In early December we got our first look at Lisa Kudrow‘s upcoming guest appearance on BFF Courteney Cox-Arquette‘s hit ABC series Cougar Town and a couple weeks after we got to see the first video promo for the ep. Today we get to see a couple new promo photos from the set of Cougar Town and we learn a bit more about Kudrow‘s appearance on the show. Be warned, the following report contains spoilers for the ep that has yet to air:

It seems Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow became companions for life after working together for almost 10 years on Friends. Because six years after the hit comedy show ended, the pair are still keen to work together … She guest stars as a nasty dermatologist who digs her claws into zany divorcee Jules Cobb’s (Cox) ex-husband. The episode airs in the U.S. on Wednesday. Cox and Kudrow starred as Monica Geller and Phoebe Buffay for 10 seasons on NBC’s Friends. During a break from filming the episode last November, the duo – who are pals in real life, as evidenced by their unabashed banter – chatted about working opposite each other again. ‘I get to play a really mean person,’ teased Kudrow, ‘so that’s really fun.’ Last year, Cox guest-starred on Kudrow’s wry online improv series Web Therapy as a psychic looking to get her sixth sense back from Kudrow’s matter-of-fact therapist. Kudrow insisted she would have taken just about any role offered on Cougar Town, as long as it didn’t require any nudity. Cox, 45, however, has not had such an issue with stripping off on screen and has done so in the name of laughs on more than one occasion since Cougar Town debuted on ABC last September to more than 11million viewers. ‘I’ve turned a corner,’ Cox said jokingly. ‘Now that I’m this age, I’ve decided to go as nude as possible.’ ‘You look great,’ Kudrow told her. ‘No, Lisa, I’m lit well,’ Cox retorted. ‘Well, I could be on the surface of the sun, and it wouldn’t look good,’ Kudrow quipped. Cox said there was an open invitation for all her Friends co-stars – Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc and Jennifer Aniston – to stop by Cougar Town. But she was most anxious for a visit from Kudrow, a Groundlings improv vet who starred in such films as Romy And Michele’s High School Reunion and Wonderland during her Friends tenure. ‘I really wanted Lisa to be on the show, if she would,’ said Cox. ‘First of all, she’s so unbelievably talented. I knew she’d go out there and play a really fun character, so it just kind of worked out perfectly for her to play a dermatologist that is very judgmental and not nice. She takes those risks… It was great.’

OOOOH, I love it!! I quite like the ex-husband character that actor Brian Van Holt plays on Cougar Town, I think his scenes with Kudrow will be a lot of fun. After the jump, check out a promo photo that features Cox-Arquette, Kudrow and Van Holt filming a seemingly integral scene for this new ep …

Earlier this month we got our first look at Lisa Kudrow‘s guest appearance on the ABC hit sitcom Cougar Town (which stars Kudrow‘s Friends compatriot Courteney Cox-Arquette) and today we get to see a preview clip from that special episode. Here are a few screencaps from the vid:

As was mentioned in the earlier post about Kudrow‘s guest appearance, her character Dr. Evans is a hard-nosed beyotch who is no friend to Courteney‘s character Jules on the show. Apparently, making these two characters the furthest thing from friends is meant to be funny. Hell, I love the show to death so I’m excited. Back in October we learned from Entertainment Weekly that Lisa Kudrow, former star of Friends, would be joining her Friends compatriot Courteney Cox-Arquette on her new show Cougar Town in an upcoming new ep. Today EW bring us the first look at Lisa and Courteney together again on Cougar Town … but this time around they are far from being friends:

There will be something conspicuously missing when Friends costar Lisa Kudrow guests on Courteney Cox’s ABC sitcom, Cougar Town, on Jan. 6: friendship. “They didn’t want to play friends,” says executive producer Bill Lawrence, who quickly came up with a different role for Kudrow. “She plays a dermatologist who is a horrible, horrible person, but [Cox] goes to her because she’s the best. The [sight] of them playing people who dislike each other intensely was very funny for me to watch.”

I dunno … they still look pretty friendly to me in this photo … but I guess it would’ve been too obvious if the ladies were friendly in these new roles. As I’ve mentioned a few times already here on the blog, I am a HUGE fan of Cougar Town and I am very much looking forward to this new ep featuring Lisa Kudrow. I have a sneaking suspicion that other former Friends will be making their way to Cougar Town in the future but I’m glad that Lisa Kudrow is the first. She is really very funny and she will be a welcome addition to the already brilliant cast of Cougar Town. Woot! I cannot wait :)

While we wait to hear about any movement on an official Friends reunion, Entertainment Weekly brings us the great news that Lisa Kudrow has officially signed on to do a guest stint on Courteney Cox-Arquette‘s new hit sitcom Cougar Town!

It’s not an actual Friends reunion, but I’ll take it: Lisa Kudrow has signed on to guest star opposite ex-Friend Courteney Cox on Cougar Town, an ABC spokesperson confirms. “She’ll play a dermatologist that my character can’t stop going to even though [she's] mean to me,” Cox told tvguidemagazine.com. The Cox-Kudrow reunion episode will shoot next month and air in early 2010.

And this is how Cox described Kudow‘s character to TV Guide:

“If it all works out, she’ll play a dermatologist that my character can’t stop going to even though the doctor is mean to me.” Is it a Botox thing? The show’s writers are not exactly sure yet, says Cox, who’s also producing the show, “but whatever it is, she’s the best in town at what she does and I become addicted.”

It turns out that both Matthew Perry and Jennifer Aniston have been considered as future guest stars … this is what Courteney had to say about the prospect of having other former Friends castmates appear on the show:

“I did ask Matthew [Perry] if he’d play my boyfriend on the show,” she says, “but he thought it was a little too much after Chandler and Monica.” Then there’s Jennifer Aniston, whom Cox has remained closest with among the Friends stars. “I’d love for her to be on the show, too,” Cox says. “Obviously we can’t cast her so close to Lisa’s appearance but if there’s a great part for her, I’d send it right away. She’s younger than me so she can’t play my contemporary even though she did on Friends, but I think we can find something great for her to play.”

This is all very exciting stuff to mebbe look forward to … but for now, I’m perfectly content with having Phoebe and Monica together again … er, Lisa and Courteney, that is ;) The Friends reunion may never actually take place but in the meantime, we have Cougar Town to enjoy!
