Emanuel Ungaro Calls Lindsay Lohan Collaboration A ‘Disaster’

In early October, Lindsay Lohan made her debut as “creative director” for the Emanuel Ungaro design house and was met with harsh criticism from the Fashion press … but the harshest critic yet, it turns out, is retired designer Emanuel Ungaro himself. In a new interview, Ungaro expresses how furious he is that his company put their design plans in Lindsay’s hands … calling the whole collabo a “disaster”. Ouch!

The namesake and founder of Emanuel Ungaro has added his voice to the chorus of critics attacking Lindsay Lohan’s debut for the famed fashion house at its spring/summer 2010 show. “[Her] collaboration was a disaster,” Ungaro told the U.K.’s Independent of Lohan’s first efforts as artistic adviser alongside designer Estrella Archs. “I am furious but I can’t do anything about it.” The designer, who retired in 2004, said he worried that his former line was “in the process of losing its soul.” Emanuel further lamented that the problems weren’t just at his own line. “This happens to a lot of designers, we were the creators and patrons, responsible for the creation and destiny of our houses. But when we gave up our houses, we gave up our soul,” he said.

Ugh … well, at least Ungaro can look on the bright side — he’s not alone in asserting that Lindsay’s Fashion debut was a disaster … unfortch for him, tho, he no longer has a say in what goes on at his namesake company. Poor thing.

Lindsay Lohan Spends Some Time In ‘Church’

Lindsay Lohan, who has been facing some tough criticism from her newly “religious” father Michael Lohan in the past few weeks, was spotted making her way out of a place of worship over the weekend. Yes, Lindsay’s “born-again” father might take solace in the fact that she spent some time at Church on Saturday … tho, it’s not exactly what he might think:

That’s right, folks … Lindsay spent some time at Church clothing boutique in West Hollywood, CA. I understand that the boutique, which does sales by appointment, shut down their store so that Lindsay could shop in private. It was pretty clear that she had a great time shopping at Church, after all … she tweeted as much:

I love @churchclothing and everyone that works there my loves!!!!!

Holy Moly! Well, at least Linds was lookin’ pretty hot in her sexy black trench-coat. Well, she may not be spending any time at actual church but at least she’s spending money at Church and, Lord knows, that’s great for the economy. Bless her soul.

Michael Lohan Releases Recorded Phone Calls With Lindsay Lohan

Michael Lohan, who in my opinion is a gross opportunist who will do anything to get attention for himself, has released an audio recording of a taped phone conversation with his daughter Lindsay Lohan for online streaming on RadarOnline. Daddy Lohan claims this recording, the first in a series he secretly taped presumably without Lindsay’s knowledge, is proof that his daughter desperately needs his help. To me, it’s proof that Lindsay needs to stop calling her father:

It’s a shocking side of actress Lindsay Lohan we’ve never heard or seen before — three minutes of a recorded audio tape revealing her heart-wrenching and desperate plea for help. The tape, obtained exclusively by RadarOnline.com, is the first of several which were recorded from phone calls Lindsay and her mom Dina made to Lindsay’s dad Michael Lohan. Lindsay’s father has been publicly saying that she needs help and is in a fragile state. He released this tape in an attempt to prove his point and to disprove those around Lindsay who are saying she’s fine. The tape reveals a tortured and inconsolable Lindsay. At times she wails and sobs uncontrollably— at others, she whimpers like a child as she complains about problems with her family and ex-girlfriend Samantha Ronson. “Mommy says that I’m worse than you were,” Lindsay can be heard crying to her dad. “And she’s defending…She doesn’t back me…she doesn’t stand by me.” Lindsay continues, “No one cares about me. They don’t, by the way. It’s about how they feel, not how I feel. It’s not about me. It’s never been about me, unless I fight for it.”

While I am solidly on Team Lindsay here, I have to admit that it is very sad to hear her in such a desperate state. Who knows what caused this breakdown but taken out of context, it could’ve come from any situation. While I agree that Lindsay could benefit greatly from the help, love and care of loved ones, I absolutely do NOT believe that “someone” should be Michael Lohan. He has proved time and time again that he will do anything to exploit his family for his own personal gain. If you are so inclined, you can hear the entire recording HERE. Say what you will about L. Lo, it’s a bit heartbreaking to hear her in this state. It’s even more disheartening to think that her father is very likely to cause for much of her desperation.

Altho Lindsay Lohan has been bizzy this weekend feudin’ with her pappy who she now likes to refer to as a “lunatic”, L. Lo has also been keeping bizzy in other ways as well … posing for magazine photospreads, for example. Lindsay is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of French Grazia magazine:

Now because the article is in French, I’m not entirely sure what it’s all about … but my rusty French hints that the article is about Lindsay’s attempt to be creative director for Ungaro designs this season. Lindsay Lohan Calls Her Father A ‘Lunatic’

Lindsay Lohan posted a series of tweets on her official Twitter profile over the weekend to publicly declare that her father, Michael Lohan, is a “lunatic”. In recent weeks, Papa Lohan has been very publicly trying to reach out to his daughter in an attempt, he says, to help her … very clearly, Lindsay wants no help from him at all. Here’s a run down of what went down in the Twitterverse over the weekend:

Lindsay Lohan has taken to Twitter to slam her dad Michael, following reports that he is seeking conservatorship over her, and that he’s offered an entertainment TV show tape-recorded conversations between himself and his ex-wife, Dina, in which they discuss their daughter’s well-being. “My father is a lunatic & doesn’t even deserve such a title since he’s never been around in my life other than when he’d threaten me & my family,” Tweeted Lindsay, who just finished shooting the thriller Machete opposite Robert DeNiro. “He should be where he has always put himself after verbally abusing and physically abusing people all my life-behind bars.” Lindsay, 23, also wrote that her sister Ali, 15, is also concerned about their father’s behavior. “It’s so sad to get a phone call from my baby sister just now asking, ‘why is daddy doing this?’ Through tears. He’s crossed the lines & hurt me & my family 4 the last time.” Last week, Michael Lohan claimed to New York’s Daily News that Entertainment Tonight this week would air taped phone conversations between himself and Dina, in which they discuss Lindsay’s well-being. As yet, nothing on this has been confirmed by the TV show. Still, Dina Lohan tells PEOPLE that she and Lindsay plan to prevent the tapes from coming within public earshot: “We’re going to stop it from airing. He is in violation of my order of protection. My attorney sent a cease-and-desist letter, and a copy of my order of protection I have against him. He is now in violation of my criminal order of protection. He harasses me, and calls my cell phone, which he is not allowed to call.” In response to Dina’s disdain for Michael’s very pubic dialogue about Lindsay, Michael told PEOPLE last week, “Look, I know that sometimes in the past I’ve said things I shouldn’t have. [But right now] I have to help my child.” Be that as it may, Dina says Lindsay is planning to obtain a restraining order against her father – an effort that intensified after Michael told X17 this month he was seeking conservatorship in order to get Lindsay into rehab for prescription drug abuse, and that he is behind on child support payments. Says Dina: “He is desperate and spiraling out of control.”

If one really wants to know why Lindsay Lohan’s life is such a mess, one need look no further than at the parents who raised her. I cannot think of a worse situation than one where Michael Lohan would be in a conservator position over his wealthy daughter. It is so sad to see this series of dramatic events play out in the public eye. Lindsay may be a mess sometimes but it’s clear, at least to me, that her father is even more of a mess … and a very toxic parrot. IMHO, the man is dangerous … he even threatened to kidnap Lindsay in order to save her. INSANE!! I hope Lindsay is able to steer clear of her father’s machinations … for her own sake.

I dunno know who the target audience is for this line of leggings but I’m sure it’s out there … somewhere … desperate for a pair of these leggings. Lindsay Lohan Does ‘The Sunday Times: Style’

Lindsay Lohan, budding fashion designer extraordinaire, is featured on the cover of the Style section of the UK newspaper The Sunday Times … in her coverstory interview, Lindsay opens up about the recent Ungaro fashion show that she “oversaw” and was described by pretty much all accounts as a disaster. Lindsay, aware of the way she seems to be targeted by critics, brushes off the negative reviews and seems happy with her place in the world of Fashion. Here is Lindsay’s Sunday Times: Style coverphoto and some excerpts from the coverstory interview/article:

You look like a good girl, but we all know you are bad,” goads the photographer Ellen von Unwerth, as she snaps Lindsay Lohan vamping it up on the floor of her room at Hôtel Plaza Athenée in Paris. Lohan revels in this reference to her notoriety, and pouts harder, throwing back her waist-length, newly blonde hair (the result, she reveals, of two 12-hour days in the salon). The room looks like the aftermath of one of those home-alone teen parties advertised on Facebook that then gets horribly out of hand. Chaos rules. Designer clothes are strewn everywhere; most of them from a sweep of the Emanuel Ungaro boutique that Lohan made upon her arrival in Paris, walking away with an estimated £90,000 worth of free clothes. Shoes, make-up, jewellery, even a stray lampshade obscure the hotel carpet. Her passport is in here somewhere. She’s been looking for it for days. Frankly, I’m surprised Lohan’s got the energy even to raise a smile. It’s been a trying week. She’s in town for her new gig as artistic advisor to the once-revered house of Emanuel Ungaro. How much work that actually involved was revealed when her catwalk show was roundly drubbed by the fashion community the following day; as her new fashion sugar daddy, the CEO of Emanuel Ungaro, Mounir Moufarrige, put it: “They knifed us.” With no formal design experience, it was hardly a surprise, but there is a logic behind fashion’s new Faustian pact. Lohan brings notoriety, press (good and bad) and a worldwide audience to a house that has been on the skids for years. If that can be translated into sales, the brand’s future could be secure. Moufarrige won’t reveal her pay package, saying only that it is “quite enough. It’s expensive”. Given her unpredictability, it is also a risk. Her fragility, says Moufarrige, “has been factored in”. It needs to be … The big question for anyone interviewing her is: will she actually turn up? Lohan had already cancelled several interviews during her stay in Paris. The day before our shoot, I’m told Lohan has been rushed to hospital with food poisoning. (The night before, she’d been to a Mario Testino party and was hanging out with Daphne Guinness.) Despite her fragile state, confirmation of our meet and shoot finally comes through just before midnight.

Around noon, Lohan makes it out of her room and into the hotel lobby; late, bizarrely, because she wanted to tidy up her suite before we arrived (yes, our pictures are the “after” shots). She’s obviously tired, and her wet hair suggests she’s just woken up, but she is here.

Wearing a ruched black Emanuel Ungaro minidress, thigh boots, a sequined black beret and a large Chanel scarf (she’d treated her 15-year-old sister, Ali, to a shopping spree there earlier in the week), the first thing you notice is how tiny she is, then what a large bosom she has. Her pale skin has been sprayed the colour of a ginger-snap biscuit and the lines etched into her freckled forehead make her look at least 10 years older than she is. She orders an iced water in a voice honed by too many cigarettes and a lifetime of late nights. When she sniffs, which is often, she refers to “my allergies”.

Despite all these signs of fatigue, she talks at breakneck speed, racing though sentences and peppering them with California-isms. “I’ve always been really interested in, you know, the fashion industry, and I really have a great appreciation for designers, and all the work that goes into one piece of clothing, and how expressive it can be,” she announces. Of her role at Emanuel Ungaro, she says: “This is more personal to me. It is more about who I am and what I want to say as a person through clothing.”

And what exactly does she want to say? Her efforts, pulled together in three short weeks with her design partner, Estrella Archs, resulted in a parade of teeny ruched party dresses, scattered with heart motifs and rhinestones (left). It was fun, young, but not ground-breaking. Lohan appeared dazed and emotional as she took her catwalk bow, her big, wide eyes filled with the kind of grateful tears that suggested Disney had made all her fashion dreams come true. “It was such a surreal experience and I think I was emotional probably for the entire week, but when we walked out, it was a good feeling,” she says.

In the scrum backstage (one journalist crawled on her belly, between the legs of the photographers, merely to get a quote from the starlet), she said that the whole experience had been “like a fairy tale”. Then after this soaring high came a crashing low. The reviews began to flood in and the dream became a nightmare — a familiar pattern for Lohan. The industry bible, WWD, called her efforts “an embarrassment”; others were not so kind.

If she is hurt by the reviews, then she’s doing a sterling job of hiding it. “Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I didn’t expect everyone to be completely loving the collection. It is the same with everything I have done. I knew that people were going to target me. I am a target. I don’t know why I am, but I am, and I accept that. I just don’t pay attention to it.” If Lohan has any hope of making her new fashion career work, then she’ll have to put the time in. “I feel I am on the cusp of something new. I just need to be here more,” she acknowledges. So does she have a plan? “Oh, God,” she says, in horror. “I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t like to think ahead” …

A quiet life is not on the cards. She sometimes tries to avoid the attention, telling me how she likes to visit her favourite restaurant on Robertson Boulevard in Hollywood in disguise. Another trick is to use a fellow A-lister as a human shield. “The other night, at the Testino party, Kate Moss was walking out. I saw her leaving and was, like, ‘Go now!’ I was walking behind her. She went one way and took the photographers with her. I went straight to my car.”

But Lohan lives in the eye of the storm. With her career and personal life in permanent flux, the only constant in her life is chaos. Of the paparazzi, gossip and controversy that stalk her, she says: “I don’t notice it. There are times when it drives me nuts, but it’s been going on since I was 13. Ten years. I don’t know if I can change it. When I don’t give people opportunities to write something, they make something up. It’s flattering that they are that interested in me. They build you up to take you down.” All in a day’s work for Ms Lohan.

HMMM … it kinda all looks the same, sounds the same. How many times have we seen this photoshoot? How many times have we heard her say the same sorts of things in previous interviews? As much as she would like to believe that she is in control, it really sounds like she really is NOT in control … she just seems to be going with the flow, taking on projects that are being made available to her (ie. creative director of a major fashion house) in place of the projects that are not being made available to her (ie. acting roles). I’m not sure what it’s going to take for her to really find focus and, hopefully, success. Until she really buckles down and settles on something to do well, I fear she’s gonna float from thing to thing … stumbling all the way.

Lindsay Lohan Flaunts Her Disdain For Bras

Lindsay Lohan has been shoppin’ up a storm all over NYC this week, just days after she was hauled into open court here in LA to report on her progress in her court-ordered alcohol awareness program (and ended up getting slapped with an extra year of probation in the process), and was spotted picking up a few things at a boutique yesterday. It was plainly evident to anyone with eyes that L. Lo was not wearing a bra … not by a long shot:

Lindsay Lohan shopped for a new jacket yesterday but clearly should have begun her spree in the lingerie section. Without her bra, the 23-year-old actress very nearly fell out of her extremely low-cut top as she tried on clothes in the Soho district of the city. But it seems unlikely the girl who is photographed everywhere she goes was entirely oblivious to the problem. She seemed to be wearing a cheeky smile as she bent over to reach into her handbag – but then she has always been proud to flaunt her figure … Just days after narrowly avoiding jail for breaking the terms of her drink-driving ban, Lindsay had reason to be in good spirits as she tried on various 80s -style embellished jackets.

It’s one thing to be proud of one’s assets … it’s quite another let one’s bubbies flounce around in such an unruly manner. Oh Lindsay … would it kill you to restrain the ladies a bit? Don’t you think it would be a great idea that you keep your biz covered in such a way that when you bend over to pick something up your mams don’t come spilling out of your top for all the world to see? I mean … it’s just a thought.

Lindsay Lohan Takes A Bow In NYC

Lindsay Lohan, who was hauled in front of a judge here in SoCal last Friday and ended up getting another year of court-monitored probation for her trouble, has made her way back to NYC to keep the party going. She was spotted last night on the streets of NYC making her way to the Rose Bar inside the Gramercy Hotel wearing a very interesting outfit:

LMAOOOOOOOOO!! I mean … WTF? is going on here? I get that L. Lo wants to be a fashionista … and I get that taking fashion risks is what being a Hollywood “It” Girl is all about but … is she seriously kidding us with this idiotic bow strapped to her forehead? I mean … really??? It is such a fug look … I just want to run up to her, pull it as far away from her head and then it go so it can snap back into her face. Is that wrong?

Lindsay Lohan Appears In Court, Gets Another Year Of Probation

Yesterday we learned that infamous world-traveling partygirl Lindsay Lohan was ordered to appear in court today so that the judge could get a status update on how well Lindsay is completing her probation. Lindsay managed to make it to court today but she showed up late, which didn’t sit too well with the judge. Altho Lindsay answered all questions politely, the judge felt that she needs another year of probation to keep her on the right track. Here are a few photos from Lindsay’s appearance in court just a couple of hours ago:

Lindsay Lohan is in hot water again. At a hearing in Beverly Hills Friday, a judge slapped an extra year on Lohan’s existing three-year probation sentence. Lohan, looking solemn and appearing gaunt, wore a white sportcoat, black pants and her hair in a bun as she walked into the courtroom holding her attorney’s hand for a progress review in her two DUI cases. Her attorney Shawn Chapman Holley explained to the judge that a miscommunication had occurred when Lohan failed to notify instructors of an alcohol education class she attends as part of her probation that she would be returning to the class after she left the country for work. Judge Revel sternly warned the actress, “I ordered you into court today because I wanted to speak to you directly. I don’t want to get any more notices again [that you might be in violation of probation], no warrants … where you’re thumbing your nose at the court.” Judge Revel ordered Lohan to get prior court approval the next time she leaves Los Angeles for work, and warned that any failure to comply with the terms of her probation could lead to jail time. But the judge also voiced a conciliatory tone when she told the troubled actress, “I’m rooting for you to successfully complete probation.” Lohan’s only words in court were “yes” when asked if she understood all the proceedings. A progress review hearing was set for Dec. 15. Lohan was sentenced to the probation term following her second DUI conviction in August 2007. Earlier this year, the court issued an arrest warrant for Lohan, also related to her class enrollment, but the matter was later determined to be a misunderstanding and was dismissed.

Now, I’m not sure that Lindsay will see this as a good thing but I deffo see it as a great thing. She’s managed to stay out of trouble since going on probation and that is very likely due to the fact that she doesn’t want to go back to jail. Forcing her to stay clean might be the only way to ensure that she stays clean. I, too, want to congratulate Lindsay’s successful completion of her sentence but I honestly believe she needs more work. She wasn’t lookin’ too hot in court today (florescent lighting is NOT her friend) … mebbe another year of forced good behavior is just what she needs to turn her life around.
