Back in May we got our first look at the cover art for Levi Johnston‘s new book Deer In Headlights and today we get to hear from Levi himself as he promotes the book in a new interview with E! News. As you can hear for yourselves below, Levi explains to E! that Sarah Palin, the failed Vice Presidential candidate who also happens to be the grandmother of his child, used to have a “cougar crush” on him. Apparently, Johnston‘s friends would notice that Palin used to “flirt” with him. Ew. I mean … if you’re going to promote a book full of supposedly trashy Palin family details, what better way to do so than by claiming that your girlfriend’s mom used to hit on you. Wanna hear more? Earlier today we learned from Bristol Palin herself that she DID get her face surgically altered due to what she called a “medical” need and right now we are getting our first look at Bristol‘s babydaddy/Playgirl model/mayoral candidate Levi Johnston sportin’ his old face but on the cover of his new book. That’s right, Levi is now a published author. Popstar wannabe Brittani Senser has finally released her much ballyhooed music video which features Levi Johnston — former Playgirl model and current candidate for mayor of Wasilla, AK. As you might imagine, the music video is pretty terrible … but if you can believe it, the song is even worse:

There is some semblance of a storyline in this music video … but it’s not a very good one. It has been suggested that it was the steamy scenes in this video that led to the most recent break-up of Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston … tho Brittani herself denies it. Whether or not the video led to the break-up is irrelevant because after one viewing, I’m the one that wants to do the breaking up … with my eyes! You don’t want me to suffer alone, do you? Last week we learned the frightening news that former Playgirl model and current fame whore Levi Johnston is planning to run for political office in order to film a new reality TV show. Today, we learn that Johnston is getting a little bit of help getting his campaign off the ground. Slate has put together a cheeky video commercial to help Levi Johnston in his bid to become the mayor of the city of Wasilla, Alaska:

As if the State of Alaska hasn’t suffered enough by enduring the political influence of former Alaska governor Sarah Palin … here comes news that babydaddy to her Palin‘s grandchild, almost son-in-law and Playgirl model Levi Johnston is planning a run for the office of mayor of the city of Wasilla, AK. Wasilla, as you may know, is the city that Palin was mayor of before she successfully ran for the governorship of the State … now, it would seem, that Johnston is looking to follow in her political footsteps:

Johnston’s manager, Tank Jones, on Monday confirmed a report on Variety magazine’s website that Johnston is planning to run for city office in his hometown of Wasilla, Alaska, as part of a reality TV show. Wasilla is where Palin got her start in politics, moving up from City Council to mayor before winning election as Alaska’s governor in 2006. Jones said Johnston is serious about a run, either for mayor or City Council. “Let me put it to you like this: If you live in a town and things are happening in that town, and you’re displeased with it, what do you do? You try to change those things,” Jones said. He declined to give specifics on what Johnston wants to change but insisted the run is real. “This is not a spoof. This is not a joke,” Jones said. According to the Wasilla city clerk, the next mayoral election is in 2011. The candidate filing period for council elections this October closed July 30. Johnston isn’t listed among those candidates. Wasilla’s outspoken current mayor, Verne Rupright, was at a meeting Monday and didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment … Asked whether he believed people would take Johnston’s run for office seriously, with TV cameras rolling, Jones said: “People questioned Jesus Christ, so I definitely don’t care about these mere mortals questioning Levi Johnston. “People can question whatever they want. I mean, he’s going to keep on doing his thing,” he said. “He was going to do this, even if this wasn’t a reality show.”

Are you effing SERIOUS? Did this moron just compare Levi Johnston to JESUS CHRIST? You know, I used to be marginally entertained by the fame whoring idiocy of Levi Johnston but this farce of a “campaign” for political office is outright insulting. If we’ve learned anything from Levi Johnston‘s behavior it’s that he will do anything — ANYTHING — for a little attention. If it means he will nab a few headlines by threatening to destroy the political process with his selfish and disgusting plea for attention, then it looks like he would do it without a second thought. I’m telling you, I’m not a fan of the Palin family but not even they deserve to be saddled with this moron as part of their family. Here’s hoping the good people of Alaska — as well as the rest of the country, for that matter — will never, ever have to endure any political influence by Levi “Ricky Hollywood” Johnston.

Um, here’s our WTF? of the day … Bristol Palin and her babydaddy Levi Johnston (who just a few months ago were locked in a bitter and not at all amicable custody battle over their son Tripp Easton Mitchell) have announced to the world on the cover of US Weekly magazine that they are engaged to be married! Yes, it turns out that love can bloom from bitter anger and can flourish in the unlikeliest of places. You may recall that just last week Levi made a huge public apology to the Palin family for all the “untruths” he made about the family and matriarch Sarah Palin especially … I guess that was the first public move toward the couple’s plan to announce their engagement:

Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston reveal exclusively in the new Us Weekly that they are getting married. And, they tell Us Weekly, former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has been kept in the dark about their plans … until now. “We got engaged two weeks ago,” Bristol, 19, tells Us Weekly. “It felt right, even though we don’t have the approval of our parents.” Bristol and Levi, 20 — who famously called off their previous engagement two weeks after welcoming son Tripp in December 2008 — tell Us Weekly they reconnected three months ago while working out a custody plan for their 18-month-old son. “I really thought we were over,” Levi tells Us Weekly. “So when I went, I had no hope. I think we both just started talking — and then we took Tripp for a walk.” Says Bristol, “When he left that night, we didn’t hug or kiss, but I was thinking how different it was. He texted me: ‘I miss you. I love you. I want to be with you again’ … I was in shock.”

LOL!! Yeah, these two … they absolutely belong together. I always found it so odd how quickly things soured between Bristol and Levi and altho things got really nasty between Johnston and the Palin family, I kinda suspected that he would end up getting back into the Palin family fold. As soon as we found out about the public apology he extended to the family, I knew he was trying to get back into the Palin family’s good graces. The US Weekly magazine story has gone to great lengths to make it clear that while Bristol and Levi are announcing their engagement on the cover of their magazine, mama Sarah Palin was not informed of their decision to wed beforehand. I call bullshizz on that. First, there is NO WAY the couple got on the cover of US Weekly with this engagement story without Sarah Palin‘s blessing. If you consider that Palin will likely be making a bid for the US presidency in 2012, this happy reunion with Levi Johnston would work perfectly for that plan. While congratulations are in order, I think we need to see this happy news as a bit more calculated as they’d like us to believe.

Levi Johnston, who has been doing every single thing possible to capitalize on his relationship with the former First Family of Alaska from changing his name to giving scathing interviews to posing semi-nude in the pages of Playgirl magazine, is now going on the public record to apologize to the Palin family for mistruths he spoke about them in the past. Considering how his desperate attempts at finding fame and fortune at their expense have failed to yield any results (and even put him in a position where he would very likely lose parental custody of his son Tripp), Levi is now issuing an apology to try and make up for his “youthful indiscretions”:

“Last year, after Bristol and I broke up, I was unhappy and a little angry. Unfortunately, against my better judgment, I publicly said things about the Palins that were not completely true,” he tells PEOPLE exclusively. “I have already privately apologized to Todd and Sarah. Since my statements were public, I owe it to the Palins to publicly apologize.” Bristol added her own statement Tuesday saying, “Part of co-parenting is creating healthy and honest relationships between the parents. Tripp one day needs to know the truth and needs to know that even if a mistake is made the honorable thing to do is to own up to it.” Johnston and the former vice presidential candidate had been engaged in a war of words, with the 20-year-old accusing Palin of complaining about her job as governor of Alaska and claiming “there was a lot of talk of divorce” in the Palin household. Palin spoke out against the “malicious” remarks and also ripped Johnston for posing for Playgirl and talking about sex on The Tyra Banks Show. Though they had been in a bitter custody battle, Bristol, who recently made her acting debut on ABC Family’s The Secret Life of the American Teenager, has said she and Johnston want to turn “a new page here as co-parents … and [put] aside the past because doing so is in [our son] Tripp’s best interest.” “So to the Palin family in general and to Sarah Palin in particular, please accept my regrets and forgive my youthful indiscretion,” Johnston says in the statement. “I hope one day to restore your trust.”

I really want to believe that Levi is sorry for acting like a fame-whoring moron but the skeptic in me isn’t totally buying the I’m Sorrys. It’s plainly obvious that he tried to make a career out of doing everything he could to counter the Palin family and when that didn’t work, when he had no other options left to exploit (mainly because no one cares about what he says or does) he returned home to Alaska with his tail tucked between his legs, his hat in hand, ready to eat crow and try to get back in the good graces of the Palin family. I do think that this mending of fences with the Palins will be good in the long run for baby Tripp. Now that he’s sorry and the Palin family appears to have taken him back, let’s hope we never have to hear from him again … tho, I gotta say, I’m still waiting for his apology to the public for his dreadful Playgirl magazine spread. In the end, I’d rather hear no more apologies if it meant we didn’t have to ever hear from him again.

Back in November the world got its first look at Levi Johnston‘s first batch of semi-nekkid (ie. p33nless) photos for Playgirl in their online incarnation. As you may already know, Playgirl decided to halt production of the print edition of their magazine in early ’09 but because of all the hoopla over Johnston‘s (IMHO very disappointing) photos, the magazine has decided to go into print once again. The first new print edition of Playgirl magazine, out this month, features Levi on the cover … here is our first look:

Levi Johnston’s long-awaited Playgirl cover has finally been released, and the caribou hunter-turned-aspiring model/actor does live up to his promise and appear nude, but with one notable exception: He covers himself below the waist. Titled “Levi Johnston Goes Rogue,” the pictorial also includes an interview with Johnston, 19, who has a 1-year-old son, Tripp, with Bristol Palin, 19, the daughter of former Alaska governor Sarah Palin. In the interview portion of the spread, Johnston discusses his tumultuous relationship with the Palins, as well as being a new dad. The magazine, Playgirl’s debut re-launch issue, hits newsstands Feb. 22. And for those who haven’t had their fill of Johnston, a pay-per-view special of Johnston from Playgirl airs on cable Feb. 12.

You gotta hand it to Playgirl, they are really trying to get as much out of those Levi Johnston photos as they possibly can. It’s unknown if the photos included in this new print issue of Playgirl will really be new photos or if they will be recycled photos available to subscribers at Playgirl.com. I’m sure when the mag hits newsstands we’ll FINALLY have our questions answered! Shortly before Levi Johnston‘s (disappointing) Playgirl photos came out last November, Bristol Palin quietly filed for sole custody of their son Tripp Johnston-Palin. According to a new report out today, Palin‘s bid was kept private (ie. quiet) at Sarah Palin‘s insistence. Levi Johnston, who claims that he feels “unsafe” in any private proceedings having to do with Sarah Palin, has forced the issue to become public. Here are the deets as reported by the Alaska Dispatch:

The custody battle between Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin became public last week when two Superior Court judges issued orders unsealing the court record and denying the use of pseudonyms to protect the feuding parents’ identities. A Dec. 23 order from Judge Kari C. Kristiansen denied Palin’s motion to close the proceedings and opened the case file to public access, while an order issued the same day by Presiding Judge Sharon Gleason denied Palin’s request to use John and Jane Doe in place of Johnston’s and her own real names. On Nov. 4, Palin filed for sole custody of Tripp Johnston-Palin, the former couple’s son, who celebrates his first birthday today. Kristiansen initially issued temporary orders limiting access to the case file and allowing the parties to file under pseudonyms. Johnston wasn’t playing along, however. In an opposition to Palin’s motion for a gag order, Johnston’s attorney, Rex Butler, said: “Simply put, this matter is public in nature, the courts are not refuges for the scions of the elite to obtain private dispensation of their legal matters because the public at large has an interest in the proceedings.” There’s another factor in the mix, of course: Palin’s mother, former governor Sarah Palin, with whom Johnston has repeatedly locked horns in the press, and from whom he claims to fear retaliation. “I do not feel protected against Sarah Palin in a closed proceeding,” Johnston said in an affidavit accompanying Butler’s filings. “I hope that if it is open she will stay out of it. … I think a public case might go a long way in reducing Sarah Palin’s instinct to attack and allow the real parties in this litigation, Bristol and I, to work things out a lot more peacefully than we could if there is any more meddling from Sarah Palin.” Johnston’s affidavit did not disclose exactly what “meddling,” if any, the former governor has engaged in during the custody case’s brief lifetime; however, he theorized that the closed proceedings might be intended to conceal some “fairly aggressive” tactics.

None of this should be surprising in the least. Levi Johnston posed semi-nekkid in a nudie mag so it would make sense that Bristol Palin (with coaching from her family, I’d wager) would use the opportunity to go after sole-custody. None of this has any bearing on what the outcome of this suit will be tho. It will be up to a ruling judge to determine if Bristol‘s suit has merit … but my guess is that she will not win sole custody based on just the Playgirl photos. We will have to see what evidence and arguments are made on the matter … but IMHO just because Levi Johnston doesn’t appear to be the sharpest tool in the shed, it doesn’t mean that he is not fit to share custody of his only begotten son.

It’s a very bizzy weekend for the Johnston family this weekend … first and foremost, at precisely 1AM ET this morning the first 25 photos from Levi Johnston‘s Playgirl photoshoot went online at Playgirl.com for viewing by subscribers. Secondly, Levi‘s mother Sherry Johnston was sentenced to 3 years in prison yesterday in the wake of her recent drug conviction … tho, the two incidents aren’t really related, each is a significant benchmark in the Johnston family history. Here is a totally sanitized publicity photo from Levi‘s Playgirl shoot and some deets about the just released batch of photos in a new press release:

The shoot everyone has been talking about has finally arrived! The first set of Levi Johnston pictures to be released at 1am Saturday, November 21st on Playgirl.com. There will be 25 pictures put up currently, and more to follow weekly from the much talked about shoot.

I’ve been able to see all 25 photos and, to be honest, you’re really not missing much. As was previously reported, Levi shows no p33n and there are only 4 photos that show his bare bum (in classy black and white). There are 5 photos where he is obscuring his p33n with either a towel or his hands and only one of those is in color. This first batch of photos seems to be totally from the “shower” stetting save for the 4 photos of him fully dressed, which are also included. It seems to me that Playgirl is going to stretch out the release of these photos for as long as they can to maximize their effectiveness. In fact, I understand that the printed version of Playgirl magazine that will feature Levi‘s “nekkid” pictorial won’t be published until March 2010! I can’t believe they think people will still care by then.
