LC turns her reality TV life into a work of fiction
Lauren Conrad Plans The Release Of Her First Novel, ‘L.A. Candy’

Lauren LC Conrad, star of the MTV reality TV programs Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County and The Hills and fashion designer of the Lauren Conrad Collection, is lookin’ to add the title of author to her ever-expanding resume. Last year it was reported that LC landed a 3-book deal with HarperCollins Publishers to write her own series of young adult books that focus on a “a young girl who moves to L.A. and unexpectedly becomes the star of a reality television show” … which sounds awfully familiar to me. In any event, here is our first look at the cover artwork for LC‘s first book in the series, L.A. Candy:

Lauren Conrad: From The Hills to the best-seller’s list? The MTV reality star’s name tops the cover of her first novel, L.A. Candy, which hits shelves June 16. Conrad’s publishing debut is a fictional story about a 19-year-old girl named Jane Roberts who has not-so-subtle similarities to the author. “Roberts can’t wait to start living it up,” the official book synopsis says. “She may be in L.A. for an internship, but Jane plans to play as hard as she works and has enlisted her BFF Scarlett to join in the fun.” In the novel, the two main characters are approached by a producer who wants them to be on a reality version of Sexy and the City. The book is about “what it’s like to come of age in Hollywood while starring in a reality TV show, written by a girl who has experienced it all firsthand,” the synopsis says.

Um, so lemme get this straight. LC got herself a book deal to write a work of fiction about a girl who comes to LA as an intern and ends up getting a gig on a reality TV series … and people are supposed to be interested in something like that? She’s basically gonna write a fictionalized version of her life, which is already broadcast in TV form, and people are gonna wanna read that? What? I’m all for LC expanding her horizons and making as much money as she can but couldn’t they come up with an idea for a book series that was a little more inventive? Truth be told, this series of books is prolly gonna be ghostwritten by someone else anyway … are there no original ideas left in the publishing world? LC has already SWORN that the 5th season of The Hills will be her last … so these books should be coming out right around the same time the show ends … so basically, she’ll just be retelling the whole story of the life she just lived on TV in book form. I’m not sure if this idea is a stroke of lazy genius or just a travesty to the world of publishing. No offense to LC but I hope that young readers are able to find more interesting things to read. A book series written by a reality TV star about a reality TV star that is based on the life of a reality TV star sounds like a horrrrible idea. I have never been a proponent of book burning but …

Filming for the next season is well underway
‘The Hills’ Gang Bring The Drama To Hawaii

The next season of The Hills is currently in production as the entire gang from the show were spied in Hawaii this week with MTV cameras in tow. Here is a group shot of the Hills folks sauntering nonchalantly on the beach in full view of any and everyone who cared to take notice yesterday afternoon:

While Lauren Conrad and Lo Boswoth may have vacated their Hollywood Hills pad, it seems they’ve traded up for the island paradise of Turtle Bay. Celebuzz spies in Oahu, Hawaii caught Lauren, Lo, Audrina Patridge and Stephanie Pratt vacationing this weekend at Turtle Bay resort, soaking up sun and cocktails—all on camera. While MTV was unreachable for comment, it seems Season 5 of the reality hit is upon us! “They were all together, sipping Chi-Chi’s [pina colada's with vodka],” the source says, “Lo picked up the tab for drinks and then all four girls laid in the sand.” Elsewhere at the resort, where Jason Segal and Mila Kunis filmed Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Brody Jenner and Frankie Delgado enjoyed bro time while production was manned from two large trucks of equipment. And what can we expect from the island get away, by the time it makes its edited way to our hot little hands? Boy talk! “Lauren and Lo were talking about two guys they met at [Los Angeles club] Apple,” said the spy. The loves and lives of the SoCal girls now contend with expat Whitney Port, and her NYC show The City.

Meh. I gotta admit … the obvious unreality of this reality TV show is really unappealing. I mean, I get that it was always fake to an extent but the stagedness of the series has gotten so out of hand … there isn’t even a single ounce of believability anymore. Mebbe it’s just me but I really preferred the show when MTV at least tried to make the drama seem real … mostly by being more clandestine about how the show gets filmed. They’re not even trying to hide the fact that the show is mostly pre-contrived drivel. I dunno … it’s just not as fun anymore. I also question whether the Hills folks themselves are having any fun any more. After the jump, check out a few photos of the mainstays trying to enjoy the sun and surf in Hawaii …

Movin' on up
Lauren Conrad Has Left The Hills

It looks like I am not the only person who is moving into new digs this week … roommates Lauren LC Conrad and Lauren Lo Bosworth have packed up the shizz at their home in the Hollywood Hills and have moved to a highrise apartment building in Westwood, CA. I suspect we’ll be seeing all about it when new eps of the MTV reality TV series The Hills return this Spring:

Lauren Conrad and Lo Bosworth are heading out of the Hollywood Hills. The two roommates are ditching their house for a high-rise complex in the Westwood area of Los Angeles. “She wanted more security, and being in a building with a doorman will allow her that,” says a source. Just [this past Tuesday], friends such as Stephanie Pratt, Brody Jenner and girlfriend Jayde Nicole were at her home for a barbecue—all taped by MTV crews, of course. Could it have been a going-away party, perhaps? Maybe L.C. should have considered a block party. No doubt neighbors won’t miss having the Hills camera crews and constant paparazzi presence that came with having her in the neighborhood. Lauren’s and Lo’s rep had no comment.

Man, LC changes homes more than some people change their underwear … I believe this is at least her third move since The Hills went on the air a few years ago. It’s like she just keeps moving higher and higher. To be honest, I considered highrise apartment living for me and David when we started making plans to live together … I thought it would be a nice transition for him since he’s used to living in tall buildings with doormen. Just think, we could’ve been LC‘s neighbors … and then David would’ve prolly turned right back around and flew back to NYC :) I understand that LC‘s new building is one of the swankier buildings … can’t wait to see what it looks like from the inside.

An angel in heaven buys new wings
Behold! A New D&G Store Is Born Unto Thee

Celebrities of varying types and degree braved the cold, rainy night here in LA to make their way to the D&G store opening on Robertson Blvd. in West Hollywood, CA last night for an event that raised money for the Art of Elysium charity. It turns out that Paris Hilton and Benji Madden, recently broken up, both showed up at the same party last night. Does this mean a reconciliation is in the works? Here are a few pics from the red carpet arrivals last night and some deets on the party itself:

Could a reunion be in the works for Paris Hilton and Benji Madden? It certainly looked that way [last night]. The two arrived mere minutes apart for the grand opening of the D&G boutique on Robertson Boulevard hosted by Rachel Bilson. Paris was doing interviews on the carpet as Nicole Richie and Joel Madden arrived together at the event, which benefitted Art of Elysium. After Nic and Joel took photos, they brushed right past Paris without even saying hello and headed inside the soiree. But when Benji arrived right behind them, it was another story … Paris’ ex-boyfriend stopped to greet her in mid-interview, and the two went inside the store together, where she quickly pulled him into a private corner so they could talk. The usually photo-happy heiress waved off photogs as the former couple chatted cozily together. After grabbing drinks at the bar, Paris quickly approached Nicole to say hi, and then she and Benji headed out to the smoking patio for some more quiet conversation. Both Paris and Benji looked happy and friendly as they hung together, but when asked if she and Benji were getting back together, all Paris offered was a knowing smile. Ultimately, Benji left the bash with Joel and Nicole, leaving Paris to hang with sister Nicky and David Katzenberg. And while Nicole looked superskinny again in tights and a tutu-type skirt, she ate french fries inside the fete. Also making the fashionable scene: Lauren Conrad, Kevin Connolly, Josh Brolin and newly single Ginnifer Goodwin.

HMMM. I don’t think I like the idea of Paris and Benji getting back together again. Mebbe they just had a few loose ends to tie up and this was the first time they were able to see one another since the break-up. I mean, a press-heavy event with lots of bystanders around may not be the ideal place to have a heart-to-heart with your former lover but we are talking about Paris Hilton here. If stuff like this didn’t happen in public, how would we know that she even exists? Overall, it sounds like it was a pretty good turn out for the event … afterall, if it’s one thing that the world needs in these trying economic times, it’s a new D&G boutique to shop in :)

Lucky Strike Lanes & Lounge LA Live open in LA
Celebs Get ‘Lucky’ In Downtown LA

Celebs of varying types and stature made their way out to the opening night party for Lucky Strike Lanes & Lounge at the LA Live complex in downtown Los Angeles, CA last night for a little bowling fun … and my friends and I were fortunate enough to be able to attend as well. Here are a few pics of some of the celebs who came out to the newly constructed LA Live entertainment complex in downtown LA for the opening night shindig at the brand, spanking new Lucky Strike Lanes & Lounge:

Lauren LC Conrad and Lauren Lo Bosworth were on hand at the event last night along with The Hills co-stars Stephanie Pratt and Frankie Delgado. The crew had their MTV cameras with them and they were filming but it remains to be seen if any of the footage will make it on to the show. Avril Lavigne and her hubby Deryck Whibley came out to bowl a few games as did Nicky Hilton and her siblings … Paris and Baron also came out for the event last night (tho they were not photographed). My friends (Steph, Alek, Darion) and I came out to enjoy some of the fun and we had a blast. Because the party was so packed (and Amanda Bynes and her friends were hogging our bowling lane) we didn’t get to play but we did get to eat and drink to our hearts’ content. The Lucky Strike Lanes & Lounge at LA Live is phat, y’all … we’ve already decided to gather as many of our peeps for a little bowling fun there when the venue opens for biz in a couple of weeks.

It occurred to me that last night’s fun was the second time in one week’s time that I spent at a bowling alley. I wonder if the fates are trying to tell me something.

An end to the bitter feud?
Heidi Montag & Spencer Pratt Congratulate Lauren Conrad

Lauren LC Conrad debuted her new Spring/Summer 2009 fashion collection at Smashbox Studios at LA Fashion Week last night (you may recall we got a preview of her collection yesterday afternoon) and decided to head out to STK restaurant to celebrate afterward. Coincidentally, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt — her avowed nemeses (or is it nemesises?) — were also dining at STK at the same time. After emerging from the restaurant, Speidi spoke to Extra TV and publicly gave their congratulations to LC on her new collection with Heidi adding, “I love Lauren”:

Frenemies Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag kiss and make up — and “Extra” made it happen! The “Hills” starlets ran into each other at STK, where “Extra” was with Conrad at the exclusive after-party for her fashion show — when nemesis Heidi and beau Spencer Pratt suddenly showed up! Speidi tells “Extra” they were unaware of Conrad’s party and were just stopping in for a drink on their break from shooting “The Hills” down the street. When Montag saw Conrad arrive, “Extra” witnessed the former BFFs exchanging a polite “Hi” before Lauren went into her separate party room. At the fashion bash, L.C. revealed to “Extra” that Heidi was “cool” — and “it was no problem she was there” just as long as Spencer didn’t cause any trouble. Heidi then pulled an “Extra” producer aside to say she wanted to chat with her old roommate — and “Extra” brought them together! The girls chatted for a moment — then both suddenly burst into tears and HUGGED! After the tearful reunion, Heidi personally thanked “Extra” for arranging the impromptu meeting, and said of Lauren’s clothing, “It’s a great line and I love Lauren, so congratulations.” Even Spencer expressed his support of Conrad, saying, “Congratulations, L.C.”

Say what? I find it so interesting that we, the TV viewing audience, are shown one thing on The Hills (ie. Spencer Pratt‘s venomous ire for his enemy LC) and then in real life we see something very different. Click HERE to watch video of Speidi offering their congrats to LC. HMMM. Here is the composite shot that Extra TV pieced together of Speidi and LC “standing together” at STK last night, all smiles:

Does this mean that the bitter feud is finally over? I doubt it. Does this mean that both Team Heidi and Team LC know the value of publicity? You betcha [insert eye wink HERE].

But anyways, LC debuted her new collection at LA Fashion Week last night and managed to fill the front row of her runway show with some very special friends … that didn’t include Heidi or Spencer. After the jump, check out some pics from LC‘s show last night …

Lauren Conrad Releases Her S/S 09 Fashion Collection

LA Fashion Week is already well underway and tonight will be Lauren LC Conrad‘s time to shine as she reveals her new Spring/Summer 2009 fashion line at Smashbox Studios. For those of you who will not be attending LC‘s fashion show tonight, you’ll be able to click HERE tomorrow to see all of the fashions that will make their way down the runway later on today. Or, you can just check out these preview pics from LC‘s S/S ’09 collection:

From the press release: The Lauren Conrad CollectionSpring/Summer 2009

This collection was inspired by the beauty of spring. Flowers are blooming, the atmosphere is changing and most importantly fashion introduces new collections to set the mood for the season. This ultra romantic, sweet, and playful collection encompasses all the sensibilities of the modern women.

For this season the Lauren Conrad collection offers beautiful styles that enhance ones beauty, while feeling comfortable and chic for any occasion. The collection is offering new fabrications that compliment the current selection of modal jersey and stretch sateen.

Burn out jersey is a light weight modal and supima blend that feels like silk on the skin and is offered in our basic best seller styles. The crinkle silk chiffon styles are whimsical and flirty like the bubble and mini dresses that are easy to wear for everyday.

Inspiration also came from the prints and trim. Spring Rose is a tonal large floral that embodies the spring concept and to compliment that there’s a Polk a dot print in the silk chiffon. The delicate rose trim if offered on the gauze styles which are light and breezy styles. This novelty trim gives it a fresh new look that is pretty and feminine.

Colors offered with names like blue flower, lemon chiffon, mulberry, truffle and ballerina are cool and light. They are clean and work together for many different looks.

Silhouettes include a variation of dresses in maxi lengths, strapless, halter, and natural waist fitting styles. There are one piece body suits as layering pieces. Ruffles, ruching, pleating and open back details are seen throughout the collection.

HMMM … is it just me or is there some difficulty differentiating between these new designs and LC‘s previous designs. They all look the same to me. Sure there are some differences but really, long flowy dresses and short flirty skirts seem to be the staple. I dunno … I guess the outfits are cute. I wonder what Heidi Montag thinks of this new collection and when her new designs for Anchor Blue will be announced.

HMMM, I wonder
Where Have We Seen This Sparkly Headband Before?

Lauren Lo Bosworth wasn’t rollin in Las Vegas, NV all by herself last night, no siree, she was rollin’ with her BFF Lauren LC Conrad (cuz these days where LC goes, Lo goes). But while Lo was bizzy mackin’ on the dudes at TAO nightclub, LC was bizzy downin’ cocktails like there was no tomorrow … which, in Vegas, is pretty much expected. Curiously, LC was spotted rockin’ a new fashion accessory that looks awfully familiar … wherever did we see this sparkly headband before?

Oh, that’s right … it’s EXACTLY THE SAME SPARKLY HEADBAND that Nicole Richie wore during New York Fashion Week earlier this month. Yeah, I can’t really say that I’m a fan of this look but I think the advantage goes to Nicole because A.) she wore it first and better and B.) see A. Who do y’all think rocked the Xmas garland sparkly headband better?

You know Audrina wouldn't do this shizz for LC
Lo Bosworth Comes In Handy For Lauren Conrad

At last … now we know why Lauren Lo Bosworth really won out the battle of the BFFs against Audrina Patridge for the right to be Lauren LC Conrad‘s one and only #2 … here are a couple pics of LC and Lo on the red carpet for the 6th Annual TV Guide Emmy Afterparty that show just how handy it is to have a Lo around:

Now that Lo won the battle of BFF supremacy, she has the sole right to bow down and touch the hem of LC‘s garment … and inspect it for any imperfections that might need tending to. Oh yeah, you know Audrina ain’t down with that shizz. At last … it all becomes so clear.

In, what is being described as, possibly the worst Emmy Awards ceremony ever
The 60th Annual Emmy Awards Are Handed Out

Last night the 60th Annual Emmy Awards were given out for outstanding achievement in television at the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles, CA. I was not able to watch the show myself, since I am currently in Reykjavik, Icelancd on holiday, but the reviews are in and I understand the show itself was pretty unwatchable. Despite the shortcomings of this year’s Emmy Awards show, the whole reason for the shindig in the first place is to hand out awards to some very deserving folks … oh, and for the fashions on the red carpet. Here are a few pics of some of the folks who strutted their stuff down the red carpet last night:

Christina Applegate looked stunning on the red carpet, I’m so glad to see her looking so well. Heidi Klum and Julie Benz also looked pretty amazing … I threw in David Boreanaz so that there could be a little bit of Angel/Darla love going on here. I liked Brooke Shields‘s pink dress and I thought Kathy Griffin picked out a nice wig to wear for the event. Here are a few pics of some of the winners in the Emmy Awards press room backstage … I also threw in some non-winners as well, cuz they were brave enough to pose for pics without having actually won anything last night:

The sleek ’60s drama “Mad Men” made Emmy history Sunday as the first basic-cable show to win a top series award, while the sitcom “30 Rock” and its stars Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin also emerged as big winners. “We’re all so very grateful to have jobs in this turkey-burger economy,” Fey said after accepting the best comedy series trophy for her satire about a late-night TV show. “This is the greatest job I’ve ever had in my life,” Baldwin said of his role an a network executive. He paid tribute to Fey, the NBC show’s star and creator, as “the Elaine May of her generation.” “I thank my parents for somehow raising me to have confidence that is disproportionate with my looks and abilities. Well done. That is what all parents should do,” said Fey, who also won for best actress and writing in a comedy series. Emmy voters rewarded quality, not ratings: Many of the winners draw relatively small audiences. AMC’s “Mad Men,” which looks at America through the prism of Madison Avenue, is lucky to get 2 million viewers. Glenn Close of FX’s “Damages” and Bryan Cranston of AMC’s “Breaking Bad” captured drama acting trophies. Close, honored for her portrayal of a ruthless attorney, complimented her fellow nominees, including Holly Hunter and Sally Field. “We’re proving that complicated, powerful, mature women are sexy in high entertainment and can carry a show,” she said. “I call us the sisterhood of the TV drama divas.” Cranston won the trophy for his role of a desperate man who turns to making drugs. Dianne Wiest of “In Treatment” and Zeljko Ivanek of “Damages” won supporting acting honors for the drama series. Jean Smart of ABC’s “Samantha Who?” was honored as best supporting actress in a comedy series, with Jeremy Piven her actor counterpart for “Entourage.” Piven took aim at the five reality hosts who helped open the ceremony in what could charitably called a rambling way, saying, “What if I just kept talking for 12 minutes — what would happen? That was the opening.” The crowd at the 60th annual Primetime Emmy Awards laughed heartily, not a good sign for the hosts, who included Ryan Seacreast of “American Idol.” … Jeff Probst of “Survivor,” one of the ceremony’s masters of ceremonies, claimed the first award for best reality series host. “We feel honored to be part of this family. Thank you for letting reality in,” he said … HBO’s “John Adams,” about the founding father, was named best miniseries and won other awards including acting trophies for Paul Giamatti, Laura Linney and Tom Wilkinson. The historical drama set a record for most awards, 13, including five trophies Sunday and eight previously announced. The record of 11 was held by HBO’s “Angels in America,” the TV academy said. HBO was the most-honored network, with 26 awards earned Sunday and at the creative arts ceremony held earlier this month. ABC was second with 12 awards, followed by CBS, NBC and PBS with 10 each; AMC with eight, Showtime with five and Fox with four.

Felicitations and congratulations go out to all of this year’s Emmy Award winners … but I am struggling to find nice things to say about last night’s award show. Since I didn’t get to see it for myself, I have to rely on what others are reporting … and none of it is good. After the jump, check out some of the scathing yet funny bad reviews of last night’s 60th Annual Emmy Awards — believe me, some of them are deffo worth checking out …
