Back in January we learned that Britney Spears‘s newest album, Circus, was certified platinum after selling one million copies. This week, during Britney‘s tour stop in Toronto, Canada, Brit Brit was awarded with a huge plaque in honor of her album reaching platinum status. Jive Records presented Britney with a plaque yesterday to certify 1 million units sold! Circus was certified Platinum by the RIAA! Congratulations Brit! Britney and manager, Larry Rudolph, met with Barry Weiss, Tom Carrabba, Peter Thea and Teresa LaBabera-Whites, to celebrate the great news.

Aww … Britney looks so happy but also so tired. She is working really hard on this tour but she is hanging in there like a champ. My initial fear was that Britney would start out the tour strong and then begin to wane — after all, it had been many years since she had performed on the concert stage. But I understand that she’s been chuggin’ along putting on great performance after great performance, night after night. It’s a nice sight to see our dear Britney hoisting up awards like this … it’s been a long time since we’ve seen pictures like this. It used to be de rigeur for her to receive these platinum awards soon after she released albums back in the day. It’s amazing to see her back on top … where she belongs. The Circus starring Britney Spears continues to wind its way around the country. It arrives here in SoCal in a few weeks … and I’m still waiting ;)

Britney Spears, who is currently making her way across North America on her The Circus starring Britney Spears Tour, played a show in Montreal, Canada last night and afterward gathered up her posse and made a grand appearance at Tribe Hyperclub to dance the night away. Brit‘s closest friends and associates on this tour — assistants Felicia Culotta and Brett Miller along with her very loyal manager Larry Rudolph — enjoyed the Montreal nightlife with our dear Britney last night … here are a few photos:

As you can see, the nightclub literally rolled out the red carpet for Britney‘s arrival. I understand her troop of backup dancers also came out for the festivities. Last night, Britney sent out a tweet on her official Twitter profile that read:

Went to Tribe in Montreal with the dancers after the show last night. We had a really great time. 2 days off in a row! -Brit

It really sounds like Britney is having a great and safe time on this tour. With so many people who genuinely care about her watching over her, I think she is learning that she can have a good time and not put herself in danger. I still have a few weeks to go before I can see her live in concert on this tour … the anticipation is killing me. I’m glad to hear that things are going so well, tho. I can’t wait to see her on the concert stage again.

Bryan Spears, the eldest and least famous of the Spears children, was married to his fiancée Graciella Sanchez (who is manager of the youngest Spears child, Jamie-Lynn) in a quiet ceremony in the Spears family homestate of Louisiana on New Year’s Eve. Britney Spears was in attendance at the NYE nuptials, ensuring that the entire Spears family was on hand to watch the only Spears son get hitched. Because I can’t find a photo of Bryan with Graciella (nor can I find a photo of just Graciella by herself), here is a lovely photo of Bryan with Britney‘s longtime manager Larry Rudolph (who make a pretty gruesome twosome) that was snapped earlier this year along with some deets from the wedding ceremony:

Sanchez’s mother and brother were in attendance, as was the entire Spears crew including sisters Britney and Jamie Lynn; their kids Jayden James, Preston and Maddie; Jamie Lynn’s fiancé Casey Aldridge; and parents Jamie and Lynne.

Aww … that is so sweet. I love that Britney spent her New Year’s Eve in the company of her family, bearing witness to a new addition to the Spears clan. I was hoping she would spend a quiet(er) night this year and am happy to hear that’s exactly what happened. Yesterday, Britney was seen paying a visit to the Kentwood Sonic Drive-In where she enjoyed (among other things, I’m sure) one of the eatery’s famous humongous soft drinks (a Cherry Limeade, perhaps?). Bryan Spears has worked extensively with and protected Britney behind the scenes for years … he was there to help his father get a handle on things when Britney needed them most … I wish him nothing but love and prosperity in his new marriage to Graciella. Congrats!!

Britney Spears and her superhuman manager Larry Rudolph gathered up a few security dudes and paid a visit to the Americana outdoor mall in Glendale, CA yesterday to do some Xmas shopping at the new supersize Kitson store that just opened there. As some of you may be well aware, Kitson on Robertson Blvd. in West Hollywood, CA is THE trendy shop for Hollywood “It’ Girls to be seen at normally but Brit Brit made her way out to the new satellite store that just opened at this newish mall in the Valley. Here are a few pics of Britney and her crew trying to make their way into and then out of the store:

I understand that Brit picked up a few Xmas gifts (including toys and matching pajamas) for her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, as well as a few little things for herself. Incidentally, I was at the Americana mall the night before and I also made a pass thru the new Kitson store … now, I’m not trying to say that I set the trend but … well … make of that what you will ;) Because of the constraints placed on her by the terms of her conservatorship, we don’t get to see much of Britney shopping up a storm all over SoCal anymore these days. It’s nice to see that she was able to get out and do some of that again yesterday.

Since Britney Spears has been in Kentwood, LA for the past few days, it’s clear that these photos were snapped here in LA before she left the State. Yesterday we got a photo from an audition Britney held for an unknown upcoming project. Today BritneySpears.com has details about both the try-outs and what they were for! We just found out that over 70 super talented dancers came to a grueling audition for Britney’s new promotional tour. It was a really long day and the pressure was really on! After a few rounds of cuts the dancers finally got the chance to dance for Britney, Andre and his agents and show them all what they’ve got! So what was Britney looking for? Three new guys for her dance crew — a “womanizer” (of course!) and two “jester” types. We hear that the talent there was AMAZING, which means that Britney’s upcoming performances are going to be out of this world!!!

Man … I will never get tired of seeing Britney back in the swing of things. These photos look like they could’ve been snapped 8 years ago when she was casting dancers for her Oops! I Did It Again Tour. It’s a mighty nice sight seeing her manager Larry Rudolph by her side again … just like the good ol’ days. I think we are all very relieved that her son Jayden James‘s hospital scare is over and that the little guy is doing fine … now she can get back to enjoying her holiday in Louisiana. It looks like she’s got a lot more work ahead of her … hopefully she can use this downtime to recharge for the coming promo whirlwind ahead.

Sure these young’s prolly had no idea who she was (after all, she has been out of the kiddie market for some time now) but I’m sure they were very happy that she decided to pay them a visit nonetheless:

OMG OMG OMG OMG … seriously, that was pretty much all I could muster last night as Britney Spears won her first ever award, Best Female Video, at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards last night. I was so fortunate to be on hand to actually watch our dear Britney not only win her first MTV VMA but two more VMAs thruout the night. After her Best Female win, she went on to win Best Pop Video and the biggest award of the night Video of the Year. I will do a proper VMAs recap post but this one is all about my girl, Britney Spears.

To get the night started off right, Brit Brit took to the stage in a beautiful sparkly silver dress and with her shy and coy manner wished the VMAs a Happy 25th Birthday and officially kicked off the night’s festivities … then she she just sat back with her steadfast manager Larry Rudolph at her side and collected awards at regular intervals thruout the night — which were all absolutely well-deserved:

It was Britney’s night! The pop star made a triumphant return to MTV’s Video Music Awards, winning three Moonmen, including the night’s big honor, video of the year, for her hit “Piece of Me.” “I’m in shock,” the grateful singer said after accepting her third award of the night from NBA star Kobe Bryant. Spears, of course, was the subject of much speculation and excitement after word spread that she would be opening the ceremony. She looked a little nervous at first, but proved to be in fighting form in a vintage silver Versace minidress. After being escorted from her dressing room, Spears took center stage, clutched the microphone tightly and announced, “I’m here tonight to celebrate a very important birthday.” Continued Spears: “This is the 25th Video Music Awards – and it starts right now.” … Moments later, Spears was back to accept her first VMA ever. Nominated for 16 Moonmen in the past, the pop star nabbed the first award of the night, best female video, for her song “Piece of Me.” Spears gave a brief speech, thanking God for “just blessing me like this,” calling out her two sons and dedicating the award to her fans. “This is for you,” she said … Spears later picked up her second award for best pop video, also for “Piece of Me.” “I’m speechless,” she chiped as she offered thanks to manager Larry Rudolph, who accompanied her to the show, and her fans.

And then, of course, she took home the last and biggest award of the night, Video of the Year. It really was Britney‘s night. Absolutely everyone was talking about her from beginning to end. I just find it so remarkable how much everybody loves her … even the haters can’t stop talking about her. She was absolutely triumphant last night and it was a beautiful sight to behold.
