After 25 years, King is ready to hang up his suspenders
Larry King Announces The End Of ‘Larry King Live’

Larry King, the suspendered elder statesman of CNN known for his softball interviews and his drama-filled married life, has announced that he will be ending his 25 year old interview talk show Larry King Live in the Fall. King began last night’s episode of his show by making the announcement that he would be hanging up his iconic suspenders in retirement in just a few months bringing to a close the end of an era at CNN:

Broadcast veteran Larry King announced on Tuesday that he would be ending his nightly “Larry King Live” show on CNN this coming autumn after 25 years on television. King, 76, said in a statement he would still host specials for CNN on major events, but wanted to spend more time with his wife and young children. Known for his non-confrontational style and for wearing colored suspenders, King has interviewed a broad array of guests from Hollywood stars to politicians and athletes. “With this chapter closing I’m looking forward to the future and what my next chapter will bring, but for now it’s time to hang up my nightly suspenders,” King told viewers on Tuesday night’s show. “Larry King Live” recently made the Guinness Book of World Records for having the longest running show with the same host in the same time slot. King and his seventh wife, Shawn Southwick, called off their plans to divorce in May and reunited.

To be honest, I’ve personally felt it’s been time for Larry King to end his show for a few years now. I’ve not been particularly impressed with his interviews for quite some time now … and even when he gets a great guest on the show, he never EVER presses them for the hard questions that I’m always hoping to hear. I will say that over the course of his 25 years, Larry King has made a place for himself in popular culture and overall, he will be missed. And tho it’s technically not a Peace the Spork Out situation, I thought it would be appropriate to bust out the spork to say peace out to his show. Considering the marital woes he’s endured with his wife, I think it’s a great idea for him to step down so he can spend more time with his family (besides, I suspect his wife prolly insisted he retire so that they can work on their relationship). The questions becomes, tho … who will take his place? Do any of y’all have any ideas/suggestions?

Can't stand the heat, gets her lame ass out of the kitchen
Carrie Prejean Calls Larry King ‘Inappropriate’, ‘Walks Out’ Of Interview

Carrie Prejean, the little hypocritical beauty queen wannabe that just won’t quit, decided to make an appearance on the Larry King Live show in order to promote her new book and ended up “walking out” of the interview when she was asked a question she didn’t want to answer. As you may well be aware, Prejean ended up settling her $1 million lawsuit with the Miss USA California Pageant recently after it was discovered that she appeared in an explicit sex tape and decided to cut her losses while she still could so that the sex tape would not be released and mar her Christian image. King asked Prejean about the circumstances surrounding her lawsuit settlement and Prejean accused him of being “inappropriate” and then, on the advice of one of her handlers off-screen, decided to end the interview … on live TV:

Former Miss California USA Carrie Prejean apparently does not want to discuss why she and pageant officials decided to settle a pair of lawsuits. Prejean threatened to walk off the set during an interview with CNN’s Larry King Tuesday after King asked what motivated her drop her claim. After Prejean told him the settlement was “confidential” King responded, “You can’t even say why you settled?” Prejean called the talk show host, “inappropriate” and took off her microphone in the middle of the interview. She also mouthed to someone off set that she was going to leave the show. Prejean, a 22-year-old San Diego native, sued the pageant’s co-executive directors, Keith Lewis and former Miss USA Shanna Moakler, as well as pageant publicist Roger Neal, on allegations of libel, slander and religious discrimination in Los Angeles Superior Court in August. K2 Productions countersued in October, asking to be reimbursed $5,200 for the beauty queen’s breast implants. No details on the terms of the settlement have been released, however, it’s rumored a solo sex tape starring Prejean helped move things along. Prejean has said in TV appearances that she made the video for a boyfriend when she was 17 and now regrets making it. “It’s embarrassing even talking about this right now,” she said. “I’ve been on national TV discussing the worst mistake of my life. I mean, how many people are comfortable doing that?” Prejean is currently promoting her new book titled “Still Standing,” in which she writes negatively about pornography. Prejean claimed she was stripped of her title in June because she said she opposed gay marriage during the Miss USA pageant. Pageant officials said she was fired for not fulfilling her obligations as Miss California USA and had missed several scheduled appearances.

Well, to be honest, I can understand why this woman who is now trying to ride the wave of Conservative Christian celebrity would not want to talk about her solo sex tape (or, for that matter, those topless photos of hers) but when you go on a TV talk show to be interviewed, you have to expect that there will be questions asked of you. I do not believe that Larry King was inappropriate by any stretch of the imagination … in fact, Larry King is the one TV interviewer that asks THE MOST benign (ie. boring) questions of his interviewees. After the jump, check out a vid clip of Prejean‘s exchange with King then YOU can decide who was being inappropriate …

“When I look at it now, it’s just like, wow, like, I can’t — I can’t believe that ..."
Chris Brown Set To Appear On ‘Larry King Live’

A contrite and power blue-clad Chris Brown paid a visit to the CNN studio here in SoCal last week to tape an interview for the Larry King Live show which is set to air this coming Wednesday September 2. With his crying mother, Joyce Hawkins, and his pitbull lawyer, Mark Garagos, by his side, Brown talks with Larry King about the heinous crime of assault that he has been punished for and his plans for a crime-free life ahead. Here are a couple photos from his upcoming appearance on the show along with some preview deets about the interview itself:

He looks so young. And he is. At 20, Chris Brown is not old enough to buy a beer without breaking the law. But he got himself into a world of legal trouble when he assaulted his then-girlfriend Rihanna in February. “We have to be like 10 yards away from each other,” Brown softly tells CNN’s Larry King in an exclusive interview to air Wednesday night – his first television interview since his arrest. Brown still loves Rihanna. He tells King he’s still in love with her. Even tougher for him is looking at the photo. You know the one—the image that might haunt, and define Brown forever. “When I look at it now, it’s just like, wow, like, I can’t — I can’t believe that — that actually happened.” He adds he does not remember performing the violent acts that have changed his life. Yet Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault on June 22. The deal keeps him out of jail. A second felony charge, making criminal threats, was dropped. He was sentenced to five years probation and six months of community labor. What does it mean? “It means he walks the straight and narrow for five years,” Brown’s attorney Mark Geragos tells King. “I’ve grown to love this kid like a son or a nephew. I have a high degree of confidence — I’ll say it now so that you can play it back if he ever does anything — but a high degree of confidence that he’s not going to do anything like this in the future.” Brown agrees, saying “everything comes with consequences. They want me to pick up trash remove graffiti.” He calls the sentence fair. “I’m a hard worker. It’s something I’m willing to do.” Why did it happen? How did it happen? They are questions Brown and his mother, Joyce Hawkins, have been asking. “Chris has never, ever been a violent person, ever,” Hawkins tells King.

While Brown‘s mother insists that her son was “never, ever … a violent person” she goes on to explain to King (and, of course, the viewing audience) that Brown‘s father was the abusive one, clearly in an attempt to shift the blame of Brown‘s actions? After the jump, read on and judge for yourselves …

Joins mama Nicole and grandpappy Lionel on 'Larry King Live'
Harlow Winter Kate Richie-Madden Makes Her Television Debut

Earlier this week we saw photos of Nicole Richie carrying in her baby daughter Harlow Winter to do a pre-taped appearance on Larry King Live. Nicole appeared on the show (which aired last night on CNN) with her father Lionel (who was promoting his new album) and I guessed wrongly that little Harlow would not be on the show … not so. Harlow did make a wee appearance on the show to say hello to the television viewing audience:

OMG … she is SO CUTE … totally adorable. When Larry says hello to her she waves back with her fingers!! Cute! Nicole brought Harlow out for the last portion of the interview, when she was talking about the Richie-Madden Children’s Foundation. After the jump, check out the full video of Lionel, Nicole and Harlow‘s appearance on the Larry King Live show …

Quit While You’re Way Behind

Hulk Hogan, in an attempt to seem repentant and explanatory, paid a little visit to the Larry King Live show last night in order to discuss matters dealing with his son Nick Hogan‘s incarceration (for almost killing his friend John Graziano) and all the bullshizz that has come to light since. The highlight from the interview for me was the point where Hulk was explaining that it is his belief that John Graziano is now in a permanent vegetative state (which resulted from the car accident where Nick was driving) as a part of “God’s will” to make John “a better person”:

Hulk Hogan broke his silence on his son’s imprisonment and his wife’s new relationship on Larry King Live Tuesday. “He made a mistake,” Hogan said of his son Nick Bollea, 17, who pled no contest after a reckless driving incident last August that left his friend, John Graziano, in critical condition. Bollea is currently serving an eight-month sentence in a Florida jail. Hogan broke down when discussing the difficulties his family has faced over the last several months. “Yeah, it’s been hard,” he said. “The main focus is my son, my children and John Graziano. This is in God’s hands. Things happen for a reason. This is to make Nick a better person. This is, in my belief, this is to make John a better person. Like I said before, it’s God’s will, where we’re at.”

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The wrestler also addressed the jailhouse tapes that were released to the media, in which Hogan and his son discuss a possible future reality show. “[Will] you get that thing lined up so the minute I walk out of wherever I walk out of, it’s there, boom?” Bollea can be heard asking Hogan on the tapes. “I just wish someone would play the two hours before, or the hour after, and please put everything in the proper context,” Hogan told King, visibly frustrated. In the conversation before that excerpt, he went on, “I was trying to keep [Nick's] spirits up, trying to get him to move forward.” Hogan acknowledged that in such a turbulent year – he and his wife Linda split after 23 years together – “it is a constant soul searching mission … for everything just to disappear on me, for my wife to file for divorce and the marriage to be broken long before that, and then the accident happened and the civil case, and my son getting put in jail … I just soul searched figuring out what could I have done. It’s just hard.” As for his estranged wife Linda, Hogan confirmed her new relationship with a younger man and denied reports that he is dating a friend of his daughter Brooke. “[The woman] that I’m dating is 34 years old and it’s not one of Brooke’s friends,” he said, “and from the reports I’m hearing, my wife is dating a 19-year-old.” But, he added, “Larry, at this point my only focus is on John and Nick. Linda has her own life, and her own agenda.”

Seriously, the Hogans should just keep their mouths quiet at this point … they only make things worse every time they talk. Today, Hogan is now apologizing and explaining what he really meant by his “God’s will” comment:

“It was like the whole world [was] crashing down on my son. Solitary confinement — most hardened criminals unravel after two or three days. Nick survived in there 28-29 days,” Hulk said. “During that period of time as I’m sitting there, 28 or 29 days, hardly any sleep, I did everything I could to laugh, to cry with my son. I was trying to help [to] give Nick some type of relief because he [was] consumed with the unknown,” Hulk continued. “I was just trying to explain to him that it’s ‘God’s hands’ or it’s ‘God’s will.’ That’s what people have said for thousands of years and did I say things wrong? Yes. I am I sorry.” Hulk admitted he made some of the comments recorded during phone calls, including discussing a future reality show for Nick, to “protect him physically because his mental state was unraveling.” And while he knew the calls were being recorded, Hulk also expressed his disappointment that the calls were released to the media. “This was the only thing Nick had left. This is the privacy everybody had in prison … and to have that taken away?” Hulk sighed. “I was more worried than ever about his mental state.” Hulk broke down at the end of the broadcast, and through choked back tears, said that he believed the public understood his family’s plight.

See, I think that “the public” sees his family for what they are … completely out of touch with reality. What planet are these people from? He is shocked that his son is suffering in jail? WILL SOMEONE TELL HIM THAT IS WHAT JAIL IS FOR? Can someone get a piece of paper and a crayon and draw a photo illustrating that JAIL IS PUNISHMENT? How does he not understand that YOU LOSE ALL PRIVACY WHEN YOU GO TO JAIL because INMATES ARE BEING PUNISHED FOR THEIR CRIMES. It’s not a vacation, jails aren’t there to cater to your comforts. Nick Hogan doesn’t even know the meaning of real jailhouse punishment. And beyond that, even the worse jailhouse punishment might be preferable to existing in a permanent vegetative state. I can’t even convey my disgust with this whole thing. It just keeps getting grosser and grosser. [Source, Source]

In other Hulk Hogan news, folks are now being warned that the Hulk Hogan Ultimate Grill may kill you … or burn your house down. Wanna stay alive, use a George Forman Grill instead.
