The ‘Twilight’ Trinity Does ‘Entertainment Weekly’ Magazine

Taylor, Kristen and Rob share this week's cover
Thursday, November 12th, 2009

We are just about one week away from the worldwide release of the much-anticipated sequel film The Twilight Saga: New Moon which means that the media hype for the film is ready to kick into frantic high gear. New Moon’s trinity of stars, Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, are all featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine. Here is their EW coverphoto and some excerpts from what EW calls a “wild, uncensored 3-way interview”:

“I swear to you I’ve never experienced anything like this. It’s every single day,” says New Moon star Robert Pattinson of the constant on-set fuss surrounding his character Edward’s signature mane. During a break from shooting Eclipse, the next film to be adapted from Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight novels, Pattinson — sitting alongside costars Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner — recounts the continuing saga. “In Twilight, they wanted me to have extensions down to my hips.” (“He’s a liar,” Stewart interjects playfully. “He doesn’t remember. He’s remembering how they made him feel, but they were just, like, down to here [pointing to her shoulders].”) Pattinson continues. “So I told them ‘Look, that’s just not going to happen.’ I said, ‘It looks like this already, I’ll come to set like this.’” “I sound so stupid, but in a lot of ways the hair is 75 percent of my performance,” the 23-year-old actor admits, his locks now comfortably hidden under a Yankee’s cap. “So in the second one I said, ‘Listen, I need to tone down the hair. Let’s make it a little more real, a little bit more…Method,’” he says with a laugh. “And then in the third one, I’m doing fight scenes and there’s a strand going down my forehead and they’re like, ‘We need to do it again because no one will recognize you! No one will know who it is!’ I have to look like the poster at all times. Just in case they want to use any clip for the trailer. Any clip at all! There were about five people in different departments who, because of my forelock, ended up in tears.”

Geeze … how is it that a “wild, uncensored 3-way interview” turns into a treatise on Robert Pattinson’s hair? I mean … really? Has the fever pitch of Twilight hysteria led to … this? Well, yes it has. I suppose it’s silly to expect that the topic of conversation, as it pertains to The Twilight Saga, will ever reach an elevated and intelligent level … I mean, just look at the source material. But intense fandom and teenage hysteria is a huge money-maker … I suppose we can’t fault them for milking the madness for as much money as they can. The Twilight Saga: New Moon will surely make more money at the box office on opening weekend than Twilight did … you can bet on that. In fact, I don’t see how the crazy hoopla will ever slow down … not until each book has been made into a splashy movie and ever last tween on Earth grows into maturity … OR until something more silly comes along to steal everyone’s attention.

‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’ Premieres In London

Jolly good
Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

Yesterday we saw photos of the Twilight TrinityTaylor Lautner, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart — at a photocall/premiere screening event in Paris, France and earlier today we saw some suspicious hand-holding photos of R. Pattz and K. Stew as they walked an airport tarmac … but now we get to see some photos from the UK premiere screening event which took place there today:

This event looks a bit more fan-friendly than the one held in Paris yesterday … not only did the cast walk down the red carpet amidst rabid fans but they also stopped to sign a few autographs and take a few photos. After the jump, check out photos of these three pressing the flesh with some lucky UK Twilight fans …

Newsflash: Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart Hold Hands

Rabid Twilighters fly into a tizzy
Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

Stop the presses!! What have we here!! At long last … confirmation of a secret illicit romantic affair … or just an innocent sign of loving friendship? New photos of Twilight co-stars (and long-rumored secret lovers) Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have come to light that show the friends (lovers?) holding hands as they walked the tarmac to their waiting airplane in France last night (you may recall that R. Pattz and K. Stew were in Paris, France yesterday to make an appearance with Taylor Lautner at a photocall/screening event at the Hôtel de Crillon). Because the entire Internet has been watching them for any sign that they are actually involved romantically, these photos are sure to whip up the rabid Twilighters into a frenzy:

There were fans at the airports, outside their hotels. Fans who waited for hours in the cold. They wore tribute clothing, carried posters and signs, and raised a chorus of cries – “Rob-ert!,” “Kris-ten!” Too bad none were on hand to witness what lucky photographers saw: actual off-screen physical contact between Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. Fresh from a 10-hour flight from Los Angeles, Pattinson, Stewart, and Taylor Lautner arrived in Paris Monday and checked into the luxurious Hotel de Crillon, before going out for a late-night dinner – where they happened to run into Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas. By the time the New Moon crew were ready for their press conference at noon on Tuesday, hundreds of fans surrounded the hotel. All part of the job, Pattinson told one interviewer. “It’s when I’m in my real life, when I’m not working, when there’s less security around me, that it’s worrying,” he said. “When some girl shows up on my doorstep … In a way, it’s funny because it’s completely new to me. Growing up that wasn’t me. I wasn’t someone who had a girlfriend.” But it certainly appeared things had changed by 10 p.m., when the group boarded a private jet for the next of their European tour. “[Pattinson and Stewart] were the last ones to leave the terminal to board the plane,” says one photographer on the scene. “Out on the tarmac, he took her hand, like young lovers. They stopped and looked at each other, their plane, the scene. They seemed very calm, in love. They continued holding hands boarding the plane.” Meanwhile, two other New Moon hotties were caught holding hands. Peter Facinelli, who plays the patriarch of the movie’s vampire clan, posted a fun shot accompanying the Tweet “Co-stars caught holding hands. Guess this picture proves everything.” Yep, proves you and Kellan Lutz have great senses of humor.

LOLOLOL!! This is *just* the sort of the thing that drives Twilight fans crazy … but yeah, I’m convinced. Hand-holding = torrid love affair. To be honest, I’m way more excited about seeing the photo of Peter Facinelli and Kellan Lutz holding hands. After the jump, check out the photo that Peter posted on his official Twitter profile and see it for yourselves …

‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’ Premieres In Paris

'Chapitre 2: Tentacion'
Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

Yesterday we saw photos of the Twilight gang — Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewartmaking their departure from LA at LAX Airport. I assumed that the castmates would be splitting up in order to spread the promo duties among them at different locales around the country … it turns out that that assumption was wrong. The Twilight Trinity made their way en mass to Paris, France to appear at a photocall/screening event for The Twilight Saga: New Moon at the Hôtel de Crillon:

I understand that the film screened at a premiere for a few very lucky Parisians … and were blessed with the presence of the Twilight Trinity to boot … imagine that! The regular common folk also got to catch a glimpse of the actors as they stepped out onto the balcony to wave to the peons below. After the jump, check out a couple photos of R. Pattz, K. Stew and Tay Tay waving to their fans from the Hôtel de Crillon balcony after their photocall/screening event …

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart & Taylor Lautner Divide And Conquer

World domination
Monday, November 9th, 2009

Over the weekend the principal stars of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, including Robert Pattinson, Kristin Stewart and Taylor Lautner, convened here in LA to launch the Twilight Mall Tour that will be spreading out around the country in order to generate interest in the release of their new movie. Yesterday, K. Stew participated in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s annual Walk to Cure Diabetes while R. Pattz and Tay Tay did other promo events. But, alas, the super team had to be broken up so that they could be sent to different locales here in the US to press the flesh with fans. Here are a few photos of the Twilight Trinity making their way to LAX Airport yesterday on their way out of town:

Be on the look-out … the Twilight gang are headed your way … the Twilight Mall Tour will hit 15 cities between now and November 20, the date of the release of The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Are you ready? After the jump, check out the list of cities where the Twilight castmembers will be visiting over the next couple of weeks …

Kristen Stewart Walks To Find A Cure For Juvenile Diabetes

Is joined by fighting champ Sugar Ray Leonard
Sunday, November 8th, 2009

Kristen Stewart, who has been bizzy these days doing promo work for the release of her new sequel film The Twilight Saga: New Moon, was on hand at Dodger Stadium here in Los Angeles, CA this weekend to lend her support for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s Walk to Cure Diabetes event. She was joined by sports star Sugar Ray Leonard … here are a couple of pics:

As you may or may not know, the JDRF’s mission is to “find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research” and their Walk to Cure Diabetes is an annual event held countrywide that seeks to raise awareness and funds for that research. I applaud and fully commend Kristen for lending her name and growing fame to such a worthy cause … if every Twilight fan were able to donate even a dollar to the cause, they would be able to raise huge amounts of money to help find a cure for diabetes. If you would like to lend your support for this cause, you can make donations HERE at their official website. Kristen Stewart wants you to help the JDRF … will you heed the call?

‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’ Kicks Off Mall Tour In Hollywood

And away they go ...
Saturday, November 7th, 2009

And so it begins … the principal cast of The Twilight Saga: New Moon were on hand for an in-store appearance at the Hollywood & Highland Complex here in Hollywood, CA to kick off a nationwide mall tour that will take various members of the cast in various incarnations to malls around the US so that fans can press the flesh with their fave Twilight stars … and to hear live music from bands like Deathcab For Cutie, Anya Marina, Band of Skulls and more. A horde of rabid Twilighters filled the open-air mall last night just to get as close to Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Kellan Lutz and Kristen Stewart as possible … behold:

The scene was electric outside of Los Angeles’ Hollywood & Highland open-air mall on Friday evening. A huge line snaked out into the streets, and much of the crowd looked strikingly similar: gaggles of teenage girls (plus guys, moms, dads, and little ones) in black T-shirts emblazoned with five key words: The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Awaiting them inside? Autographs and a Q&A with the film’s supporting cast, plus courtyard performances from four bands who contributed to New Moon’s excellent soundtrack: Band Of Skulls, Sea Wolf, Anya Marina and, to close it out, Death Cab For Cutie. In other words, this was the Hot Topic-sponsored New Moon mall tour. One of the first fans to the stage screamed to no one in particular, “Oh my God! This is the coolest thing ever!” And for the crowd that braved the odds to get there – camping out at the mall on Halloween eve to buy the shirt that would grant them their entrance – it truly seemed to be. The coolness began when Twilight heartthrobs Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner paid a surprise visit. On stage, opening with their bluesy “I Know What I Am,” U.K. three-piece Band Of Skulls burned through a set that ran just shy of 20 minutes and channeled bits of the White Stripes, Black Sabbath, and the Black Keys. An apropos performance of “Hollywood Bowl” prefaced the closing song – their garagey New Moon contribution, “Friends,” which was met with squeals at an octave previously reserved for the likes of the Beatles. Indie folk-poppers Sea Wolf followed, delivering a cello-swathed selection of songs whose titles were matched to the event: “You’re A Wolf,” from 2007’s Leaves In The River, “Turn The Dirt Over” and “Wicked Blood,” both off of the just-released White Water, White Bloom, and the at once bouncy and autumnal soundtrack piece “The Violet Hour.” Both were impressive, but Anya Marina, whose “Satellite Heart” is one of New Moon’s most captivating moments, stole the show. “What’s up Hollywood? Are you guys having fun?” the grinning singer asked to a chorus of shrieks. “Well, we want to have fun with you.” She meant it. Marina was the only musician to engage the exuberant crowd – at one point leading them in a “Team Jacob” vs. “Team Edward” cheer-off – and it paid off. Her ubiquitous hits “Vertigo” and “All The Same To Me” were extremely well-received. Another surprise, mostly lost on the audience, was regular Morrissey collaborator Alain Whyte manning guitar, especially shredding on “Afterparty At Jimmy’s.” At the other end of the spectrum, Death Cab For Cutie greeted the incredible mania with zero banter and two songs – New Moon single “Meet Me At The Equinox” and Narrow Stairs highlight “Cath…” – well-performed, but over far too soon. The band said their thanks, unplugged and walked off. Before the ensuing melee caused by the rush to see Pattinson and Stewart up close, we asked one fan if she had a favorite band on the soundtrack. “I don’t really listen to this kind of music,” said Carmina, backed by an army of self-described “Twi-tards.” “But I like it now!”

Not since Tiffany took the US by storm with her mall tour back in 1987 have mall tours been this hot. To be honest, anything attached to The Twilight Saga franchise will generate huge interest … you throw in the actors themselves and you could sell anything at a high premium. Lord, this is just the beginning of the fervent Twilight melee that is about to be unleashed upon the world. The Twilight Saga: New Moon opens in theaters in just a few weeks … I don’t know that we’re quite ready to handle the onslaught … but it’s comin’ nonetheless.
