Congratulations are in order for Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard who, we are learning today, are engaged to be married! The couple have been dating since 2008 and when last we saw them, they were making quite a show of thier lurve (and their anger) at Disneyland here in SoCal … US Weekly reports that Dax propped the question over the holidays and the couple managed to keep it a secret until now (it turns out that Kristen was wearing her engagement ring on the Grammy Awards red carpet last night). BellDax is gettin’ hitched, y’all!

Kristen Bell is engaged to Dax Shepard, her rep confirms to UsMagazine.com exclusively. Shepard, 35, proposed over the holidays, a source tells Us. Bell, 29, debuted her ring on the red carpet of the Grammys Sunday night. The couple first stepped out publicly in January 2008. Bell detailed her perfect date night with Shepard in the November issue of Women’s Health. “There is almost nothing, barring a natural disaster, that I would let eat into my time at home, playing Scrabble with Dax or talking to my girlfriends,” she said. She joked that they were competitive while filming romantic comedy When in Rome, currently in theaters. “We were trying to one-up each other,” she said. “That’s what we do at home, too. It’s like, ‘Wait – watch me do this funny bit.’ ‘No, watch me do this funny bit!.” The secret to their relationship? “I’ve learned the necessity for healthy communication. How important it is to talk about your deepest, darkest fears and feelings,” she says. “Your partner should hear your most embarrassing insecurities, because once you say them out loud, you’ve created a safe zone.” And “a snuggle party can fix anything — it’s true,” she added.

Yeah, I don’t know what to say about this. I was perplexed when the couple coupled up back in 2008 and I’m still perplexed by this news … but love is love and I couldn’t be happier that these two have found it with one another. I’m pretty sure the couple met while making this When In Rome movie together and I’m usually weary of workplace romances like this but, again, I wish them all the happiness in the world for a long and very happy life together! No word on when the couple will be saying their I Dos but considering how much they value their privacy, we may not find out about their wedding until it’s already a done deal.

Last night tweens of all ages convened at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City here in LA for the 2009 Teen Choice Awards. While the show doesn’t air on TV until tonight, the whole shebang was filmed last night. Britney Spears was on hand to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award, the Ultimate Choice Award, from the Teen Choice folks but it was Twilight that cleaned up … taking home 11 surf board trophies. Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals and some deets from last night’s affair:

“Twilight” struck a vein at the Teen Choice Awards. The adolescent vampire drama dominated Sunday’s ceremony with 11 wins, including choice movie drama, romance, liplock, rumble and soundtrack. Kristen Stewart won the movie drama actress category while Robert Pattinson picked up two surfboard-shaped trophies — one for movie drama actor, another for male hottie. “We’ll see you guys in theaters November 20th,” co-star Taylor Lautner teased the squealing crowd. Lautner and Ashley Greene, who will appear alongside Stewart and Pattinson in the upcoming “Twilight” sequel “New Moon,” were honored as the male and female movie fresh faces while Cam Gigandet was crowned movie villain. “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke joined the cast on stage to accept the adaptation’s pack of trophies. The Teen Choice Awards, which were selected by over 83 million votes cast online, honor celebrities in TV, film, music and sports. Several winners — including 16-year-old Miley Cyrus and show hosts the Jonas Brothers — took home multiple trophies at the 11th annual ceremony at Universal Studios Hollywood’s Gibson Amphitheatre. Cyrus sailed away with six awards, winning for comedy TV show and actress for “Hannah Montana;” music/dance movie actress and hissy fit for “Hannah Montana: The Movie;” music single for “The Climb” and summer song for “Before the Storm” with the Jonas Brothers. Cyrus also presented Britney Spears the ultimate choice award. “I’m a huge fans of hers,” Cyrus said before a subdued Spears accepted her own surfboard. The Jonas Brothers won five trophies, including choice male red carpet icons. They kicked off the show performing on a tiny stage that moved through the audience. Throughout the taped ceremony, the trio completed dares submitted by fans. At one point, younger brother Nick was challenged to hug a lineup of female fans. “It’s just hugs,” Joe cautioned the women. “You’re not going for long-term relationships here, girls.” Other big winners included “Gossip Girl” and Zac Efron. Chace Crawford, Leighton Meester and Ed Westwick picked up TV drama actor, actress, villain and TV series awards for the sudsy CW show while Efron won for music/dance movie actor in “High School Musical 3″ and comedy movie actor and rockstar moment in “17 Again.” The ceremony itself was peppered with several odd moments. Kathy Griffin arrived on the red carpet with Levi Johnston, the teenage ex-fiance of Bristol Palin, daughter of former Alaska governor Sarah Palin. Mike Tyson took shears to Joe Jonas’ head as part of stunt. And before presenting the choice hottie awards, comedian Dane Cook pleaded to Vanessa Hudgens to keep her clothes on. The Teen Choice Awards is scheduled to air Monday at 8 p.m. EDT on Fox.

LOL! Yes, it was Dane Cook’s shout-out to Vanessa Hudgens’s nekkid pics that was the TRUE highlight of the show … which you can watch HERE just in case FOX decides not to air the interaction on TV tonight. The happily coupled Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard spent part of their weekend at Disneyland in Anaheim, CA enjoying the Xmas decorations there and getting in a little bit of sucky face in the process. It’s been quite a while since we last saw BellDax out and about in public together … glad to see that things appear to be going well for the couple. Unfortch, Dax got a wee bit pissy when he realized that the couple’s public displays of affection were being photographed:

I mean … I get that mebbe it’s not always fun being photographed while enjoying intimate moments with loved ones but when you are a celeb who chooses to get intimate at a place like Disneyland (with who knows how many cameras on site) should you really be surprised? I don’t necessarily think that Disneyland is really the place to be making out with your more famous girlfriend (nor is it a place to be flashing the middle finger, what with all those young children all around) but that is neither here nor there. If Dax Shepard really wants to keep from being photographed in public, he should prolly break it off with Kristen Bell because, let’s be honest here, photogs aren’t really interested in him as much as they are interested in taking pics of her.

Spike TV culled together various celebrities from the world of horror, sci-fi, superherodom and more to their annual Scream Awards which were held this year at the Greek Theater here in LA last night. Each year, Spike gives out awards that honor achievement in comics, fantasy, horror and sci-fi because, well, who else is gonna do it? Here are a few pics of some of the folks who came out to strut their stuff on the red carpet at the 2008 Spike Scream Awards last night:

Even tho the awards were handed out at the Greek Theater last night, we’re gonna hafta wait until the show airs on Spike at 9PM on Tuesday night. So, if you’re interested to know who took home awards in the categories of Best Science Fiction Movie, Best Villain, Most Memorable Mutilation, Holy S@#$! Scene of the Year and more then you’re gonna hafta tune on Tuesday night. I will say that Julie Benz (Dexter/Saw V actress who was nominated for Best Actress: Horror Movie or TV Show) looked utterly amazing on the red carpet. Marilyn Manson and Twiggy Ramirez made a supercute couple and Gary Oldman just rules the world. It should be noted that Smashing Pumpkins performed live at the awards last night so … it might be worth checking out. Now, I have no idea who won what but I am rootin’ for Ms. Benz to win her award. I can’t wait to watch the show to see if she ended up walking home with her very own Spike Scream Award.

Last night the 2008 Teen Choice Awards infiltrated and took over the Gibson Amphitheater at Universal City in Hollywood, CA in order to honor the previous year’s stellar achievements in categories which include music, movies, sports and TV, as voted on by teens aged 13-19. The “It” Girls were in attendance as were the new kids on the block — members of the cast of 90210 made last night’s Teen Choice Awards their unofficial coming out party to hang with the cool kids. Production on the film When In Rome starring real-life couple Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard has relocated back to NYC after spending some time filming in Rome, Italy for the past few weeks. Here are a few pics of BellDax joggin’, smoochin’ and parading around in skintight running tights on the streets of NYC yesterday afternoon:

First thing, there are a helluva lotta productions being filmed in NYC these days … Gossip Girl, Lipstick Jungle, Ugly Betty, When In Rome … the entire city has been turned into a life-size movie set — that can’t be good for Hollywood. Second thing, I think I could go the rest of my life without ever having to see Dax Shepard in skintight running tights ever again. I’m not really a fan of his mini ponytail/bun either. If this is the sort of thing that Jake Gyllenhaal has got hidden underneath his hoodie, I’d prefer he keep it hidden until it grows out into something more substantial. I’m not exactly sure what Kristen sees in her romantic interest … maybe he’s got hidden talents that we’re not aware of … clearly, he’s not hiding them in his tights, tho.

Lovebirds Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard (collectively BellDax … which sounds like a sub sect of Scientology), who are scheduled to shoot scenes for their new movie When In Rome this week, were caught canoodling at Ostia Lido beach (just outside of Rome) yesterday … and once they figured out they were being followed and photographed by the paparazzi, they decided to put on a little show:

Hahahahahaha … I love it! See, celebs who know how to have fun with the paps are much more fun to watch than the sourpusses who shun the fame they worked so hard to achieve. While I’d much prefer that Dax wear more clothing while out in public, I guess I can’t fault the lad for losing his top while at the beach. He’s a lucky, lucky man to have scored a hottie like Kristen. Well done, mate.
