Britney Spears Wants YOU To Know That Kohl’s Is Having An Easter Sale

Earlier this month we learned that Britney Spears had been chosen as the 2009 Candie’s spokesperson and that she would be appearing in the clothing line’s ad campaign in the coming year. Over the weekend, Britney‘s first Candie’s ad appeared in newspapers around the country alerting us to the fact that Kohl’s department store — which is the exclusive home of Candie’s apparel — is having a MEGA 3-DAY EASTER SALE. Here is what Britney‘s newest Candie’s ad looks like:

While it’s great to see Britney back in the position of appearing in major advertisement campaigns, I think I was expecting a bit more from her first ad. Candie’s tends to put out really colorful, really vibrant ad campaigns … and this one is just … flat. I think mebbe the ad doesn’t really work for me because it was printed on newspaper but even the photo isn’t all that impressive. I hope that future Candie’s ads that feature Britney have a little more oomph to them.

Hayden Panettiere Shops Because She Cares

Heroes star Hayden Panettiere was on hand for a very cool in-store event in San Gabriel, CA over the weekend where she, in her capacity as Candie’s spokesmodel, went Xmas shopping with a few lucky girls from the Children’s Hospital in a charity promo event at a Kohl’s department store. Here are a few pics from this weekend’s event:

Except for the absolutely frightening Mrs. Claus above, the event looked like it was a lot of fun. I’m sure the girls from the hospital really enjoyed their shopping spree with Hayden. I really love how big companies and celebs themselves really get into the spirit of giving around the holidays. I guess we all get a little more generous around this time of the year … but I think it’s a really cool thing when celebs participate in events like this. Kudos and love goes out to Hayden, Candie’s and Kohl’s for organizing such a fun event. It’s seeing events like these that really help restore my faith in the humanity of celebs. Sure, Hayden‘s not saving the world but I’m sure this Xmas will be an extra special one for these girls. Well done!

Who Wants To Dress Like Avril Lavigne?

Last weekend we got our first look at Heidi Montag‘s new Club Collection from her Heidiwood for Anchor Blue clothing line and today we get our first look at another clothing line from another celeb-type person. Avril Lavigne has teamed up with Kohl’s to offer a line of clothing called Abbey Dawn that is “inspired” by Avril‘s fashion sensibility. Essentially, a line of faux punk clothes at affordable prices … just in time for your Back to School shopping needs. In fact, Kohl’s teamed up with a bunch of other musicians for other clothing lines inspired by those folks as well. Here are a few pieces from Avril‘s Abbey Dawn line:

Kohl’s Department Stores today announced its 2008 back-to-school marketing campaign designed to appeal to a cross-generational group of shoppers. The campaign will be “Inspired by the Artists…worn by you.” The campaign will feature strong-performing juniors’ and young men’s denim brands connected with relevant musical artists, including: Lenny Kravitz and Levi’s; Avril Lavigne designing Abbey Dawn; Hayden Panettiere and Candie’s; Plain White T’s and Urban Pipeline; The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and Tony Hawk; and Vanessa Carlton and So. The cross-generational program is designed to appeal not only to teens, but also to mothers, as both groups influence purchasing decisions. Denim will be the common thread throughout the “Inspired” campaign. “The ‘Inspired’ campaign is an idea that taps into the dynamic convergence between fashion, music and culture,” said Julie Gardner, executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Menomonee Falls-based Kohl’s Department Stores.
