Kiefer Sutherland Gets A Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Kiefer Sutherland, star of Film and TV, was honored with his very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in a ceremony that was held on Hollywood Blvd. right next to the famed Roosevelt Hotel. Here are a few pics of Kiefer along with family and friends at today’s award ceremony for the 2, 377th star on the Walk of Fame:

Emmy Award-winning actor Kiefer Sutherland received the 2,377th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Tuesday, just more than a month before the season premiere of “24,” the Fox Broadcasting series that made him a worldwide star. His father, actor Donald Sutherland, and Joel Schumacher, who directed Kiefer Sutherland in four films, joined him in speaking at the late-morning ceremony next to the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Sutherland was born Dec. 21, 1966, in London while his parents, both actors, were working there. The Sutherlands soon moved to California, but the marriage ended in divorce in 1972. In 1975, Sutherland moved with his mother, Shirley Douglas, to Toronto, where he spent the rest of his youth. Sutherland made his acting debut in the 1983 film, “Max Dugan Returns,” alongside his father. The two also appeared together in the 1996 film “A Time to Kill.” He appeared with his mother in “Woman Wanted” in 2000. His first major motion picture was the 1984 Canadian drama, “The Bay Boy,” which earned him a nomination for a Genie Award, the Canadian version of the Academy Award. Sutherland’s other movie credits include “Stand By Me,” “The Lost Boys,” “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me,” “A Few Good Men,” “Flatliners,” “Young Guns,” and “The Three Musketeers.”

While Kiefer was pretty amazing in Stand By Me, The Lost Boys, A Few Good Men and Flatliners (to name but a few of my fave Kief movies), I love him most for his portrayal of Jack Bauer on the hit FOX series 24. It’s amazing … you never think about how many films a person has appeared in until you see them listed before you … Kiefer has been working his ass off and I am thrilled that he is finally being honored for his accomplishments. I love that his castmates from 24 (most especially Mary Lynn Rajskub) came out for the ceremony but I think I like the pic of Kiefer with his father Donald the most. Much love and congrats, Kiefer! You have deffo earned this honor.

The stars of the '24' season 7 prequel walk the red carpet
’24: Redemption’ Premieres

Kiefer Sutherland, Robert Carlyle, Gil Bellows and Cherry Jones were among the celebs who came out to AMC Theatres – Empire 25 in NYC last night for the world premiere of 24: Redemption, the 2-hour TV movie prequel that will bridge the gap from season 6 to season 7. You may recall that earlier this month, Kiefer and some of these same celebs made an appearance at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, CA at a photography exhibit to promote the TV movie and last night they did a bit more promo work in NYC … clearly, these folks want you to watch this movie when it debuts on FOX this Sunday November 23 at 8PM ;) Here are a few pics from the red carpet last night:

From the press release: The wait is finally over! The highly anticipated two-hour television event takes place in Africa (shot on location) where Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) is working at a school in Africa. He is called upon to stop a ruthless warlord from drafting innocent children into his murderous militia. At home, it’s inauguration day for President-elect Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones) while malevolent mastermind Jonas Hodges (Jon Voight) fans the flames of the international crisis. Setting the stage and raising the stakes for the upcoming season, Bauer faces decisions and sacrifices that will change his life forever in the heart-pounding 24: REDEMPTION.

Trust me, you do not want to miss this TV movie. I was very lucky to be able to preview 24: Redemption in full last month and, as a diehard 24 fan, I loved it. The movie is a bit of a depature from the usual 24 fare but it really does set up the next season very nicely. Having seen the TV movie already, I’m even more excited for the next season to get underway … I suspect that y’all will feel the same after you watch the prequel movie when it airs this coming Sunday night. Jack Bauer is back, bitches! Finally!!!

A new photography exhibit to coincide with '24: Redemption' the TV movie
’24: Redemption – Captured In Africa’ Premieres

Kiefer Sutherland was among the guests who attended the premiere opening of a new photography exhibit called 24: Redemption – Captured In Africa which was held at the The Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, CA last night. 24: Redemption, as some of you may be aware, is a 2-hour TV movie prequel that will air on FOX on Sunday November 23 ahead of the debut of the new season of 24 in January. The TV movie was shot on location in South Africa and this new exhibit at The Paley Center (on display until January 11) showcases some of the amazing photography that was shot while the movie was being filmed. Here are a couple pics of Kiefer on the red carpet at last night’s event and some information about the exhibit itself:

From the press release: Last spring, FOX announced that after a nearly two-year hiatus, 24 would return to the airwaves with 24: REDEMPTION, an unprecedented two-hour television event shot on location in South Africa and Los Angeles. Now as the producers ready this epic tale for broadcast, they are unveiling a never-before-seen collection of stunning photographs shot by five members of the show’s creative team during the overseas filming. “24: REDEMPTION – Captured in Africa” is a rare inside look at the making of the show composed of candid moments between cast and crew, including Emmy Award-winner Kiefer Sutherland; dramatic stills from the spectacular action sequences; and vivid photographic captures of the scenic South African locations. The Paley Center for Media in Los Angeles will host the one-of-a-kind photo exhibit of fine art museum quality archival prints from Nov. 10, 2008 through Jan. 11, 2009, when it may move on to additional venues to be announced later. Curated by Entertainment Weekly deputy photo director Michael Kochman and custom printed at DigitalFusion’s fine art printing facility, the exhibit features works by executive producer/director Jon Cassar, director of photography Rodney Charters, producer Michael Klick, unit photographer Kelsey McNeal and star/executive producer Kiefer Sutherland. “I was so impressed with the quality of the photography, and it was exciting to see a production photographed from five different perspectives,” said Kochman. “Each photographer captured something very special and poetic – sometimes intimate, sometimes epic, sometimes documentary-like and raw. It all adds up to a fascinating photographic experience.” “Shooting 24: REDEMPTION in South Africa was the highlight of my six years on the show,” said 24 executive producer and Emmy Award-winning director Jon Cassar. “It was nothing short of exhilarating. Africa also became a wonderful canvas for the still photography enthusiasts among our crew. Every day put us in places and situations that were new and exciting to us, and our cameras clicked constantly. This exhibit chronicles the seven weeks that were spent in Cape Town and the surrounding regions from moments captured during a hectic shooting schedule to the faces and places that represent not only the making of 24 but the Africa of today.”

After the jump, check out a few of the photos that will be on display in this new exhibit …

Also shows of his mysterious tattoo
Kiefer Sutherland Spends Quality Time With His Daughter

Earlier this week we learned that Elisha Cuthbert will be reprising her role as Kiefer Sutherland‘s on-screen daughter in the upcoming new season of 24 … but did y’all know that Kief has a real-life daughter, too? I didn’t … which is why these pics of Kiefer and his daugher Sarah Jude were a big surprise to me. Check out these pics of daughter and dad hanging out together in NYC this week:

I also didn’t know that the runic tattoo oh his forearm was real … I’ve seen it before but for some reason I always thought it was a fake tattoo used for his movies. I tried to decipher the runes but I am more familiar with the Futhark Rune alphabet rather than the Icelandic Rune alphabet which I learned are the runes used for Kiefer‘s tattoo. I understand the tattoo reads, “I Trust You to Kill Me” which doesn’t sound like a nice message but prolly holds some significance for the Kief-man (UPDATE: Pink reader Char informs me that I Trust You To Kill Me is the title of Rocco Deluca and the Burden‘s album and that Kiefer manages them). Totally off topic, I’ve contemplated getting a runic tattoo myself … and may still one day, even if Kiefer did it first ;) ANYWAYS … I was quite surprised to learn this new info about Kiefer Sutherland so I thought I’d share. Any other interesting Kiefer tidbits that I’m unaware of?

More fun with Kiefer Sutherland at the beach
Where’s The Kief?

This past Sunday I posted pics of 24 star Kiefer Sutherland enjoying an afternoon at the beach in Malibu, CA and today we have a few more pics of the man still enjoying his beachtime fun, except this time instead of being wet and wild, he’s just dry and mild:

I must admit that I think I prefer these pics of Kiefer dry better than the pics of Kiefer wet. I know, I know … it totally goes against my theory that people look better/hotter when they are wet but not so in this case, I think. In either case, it looks like he’s having a great time … at least he’s giving us something to keep us entertained while we wait for new eps of 24. What do y’all think … do you prefer your Kiefer wet or dry?

Jack Bauer saves the world at the beach
Kiefer Sutherland Gets Wet & Wild

24 star Kiefer Sutherland was spotted enjoying a day of sun and surf in Malibu, CA this weekend with only a pair of swimtrunks and a pair of flippers … behold:

I love the Kief … I think I love him more when he’s half-nekkid and soaking wet … Woot! I’m not sure if the flippers are really all that necessary but who am I to argue with the amazingly resourceful Jack Bauer? Oh yeah, I am so excited for new eps of 24 but we are still so far away from the debut of the new season (even the 2 hour TV movie 24: Exile is over 2 months away) but I think I can make do with Kiefer sightings like this until then :) So whadda y’all think? Thumbs up, yes?

A bit o' tease for the upcoming prequel to Day 7 of '24'
24-Play

We are still over 3 months away from the premiere of the prequel special presentation of 24: Exile, the 2 hour prequel to Day 7 of 24 but new bits of promo info are still continuing to make their way to the InterWeb. Here are a few promo pics of some of the principal characters that will be featured in 24: Exile:

Natch we have to include the amazing super soldier Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) along with new characters Jonas Hodges (Jon Voight — estranged grandfather of the famed Brangelina twins), Carl Benton (Robert Carlyle — of Trainspotting and 28 Weeks Later fame) and Frank Tramell (Gil Bellows — of Ally McBeal fame). At this point, we aren’t sure who are the good guys and who are the bad guys … all we know at this point about the prequel storyline comes from the leaked TCA presentation video promoting the prequel (which has since been taken offline) and the accompanying plot synopsis. I’m very anxious for the 24 action to get underway already … it’s been far too long already since we’ve been able to enjoy the manic world of Jack Bauer. November 23rd (the day 24: Exile premieres on FOX) seems so far away … but still, it’s better than having to wait until the 7th season begins in January.
