Kiefer Sutherland Has A Wild & Crazy Night In London

24 star Kiefer Sutherland appears to be having a tough time dealing with the cancellation of his hit TV series (yeah, that, OR it was just another Thursday night for him) because the Kief got a bit drunk, a bit rowdy and a bit thrown out of a strip club in London, England last night. His night started out innocently enough as he made his way to The Covent Garden Hotel Bar for a night of revelry … that led him to a strip club called Stringfellows … where things really got interesting. There was much boozing, much raucousness and, eventually, some scrapping with security as Sutherland was ejected from the club and set away … shirtless. Ever the consummate professional, Kiefer managed to pull himself together just a few hours later to start a whole new day:

TELLY special agent KIEFER SUTHERLAND goes out on a mission – to get plastered on the streets of London. And the Hollywood actor, famed as 24 hero Jack Bauer, seemed to have no trouble achieving his objective, ending up shirtless in a tussle with Stringfellows security. Sutherland, described by onlookers as “absolutely screamingly paralytic”, was even put in a headlock by bouncers as he lashed out. This is how the longest night of his drinking life unfolded into the early hours of yesterday.

10.40pm: The 43-year-old actor, born in the capital, is spotted outside The Covent Garden Hotel Bar before meeting a pal. Two hours later he is seen with five empty wine glasses on his table and heard ordering more.

2.00am: Sutherland is driven to Stringfellows lapdancing club, where an insider said: “He went bananas, shouting nonsense and dancing like Peter Crouch before kicking off when asked to leave.”

3.35am: Bouncers hustle him from the premises after a reported bust-up, exposing his tattooed torso as they muscle him to his car.

3.36am: Grim-faced security guards finally seem to have him under control.

3.40am: The battle to pour him into his motor continues as the actor staggers in the street.

3.45am: The dazed dad of one sits in the car until finally, at 4.00am: He falls into the street outside his hotel, giggling and with his jacket unbuttoned.

11.50am: Sutherland sits outside, recovering with a ciggie.

The star, a hit in Fox and Sky One’s 24, is in town to plug his new film Twelve. He served 48 days’ jail in 2007 after drink-driving offences and apologised last year after headbutting a male fashion designer.

Check out more photos from Kiefer‘s crazy night HERE. Ugh … this poor man. He’s an amazing actor and is insanely talented but it’s plainly obvious that he has a huge problem with alcohol. You may recall that last month we learned that Kiefer Sutherland, looking for a party in the wee hours of the morning here in LA, stumbled into a house party (that was completely over) in search of fun and booze. That story was, at least, cute for the party host who happened to be a big Kiefer Sutherland fan … but this story, about his getting so drunk that he had to be thrown out of a strip club and into the street, is not cute at all. It’s clear to me that he needs help … whether he’ll get the help he needs before he ends up doing something really stupid is another story. For his sake, I hope he finds a way to control his addiction … my fear is that one of these days, he’ll get himself in real trouble that will come with very serious consequences :(

The last day is coming to an end
Kiefer Sutherland Films His Final Scenes For ‘24’

Just a few days ago Fox gave official confirmation that the current 8th season of 24 will be the last … but that doesn’t mean that filming for this season has been completed. Just today, Kiefer Sutherland — who stars as Jack Bauer on 24 — was spotted filming new scenes for an upcoming ep of the series … behold:

While I cannot be sure when, exactly, the show will wrap for good, I do know that the cast and crew are filming the final scenes of the final eps. You can kinda see a bit of sadness in Kief‘s eyes … he knows the end is very near. Despite the fact that he is very excited to bring the world of 24 to the big screen somewhere down the line, he most surely must be feeling some sadness that the show he’s starred in for almost a decade is coming to an end. I’ve made it no secret that I am not happy with the way the current season of 24 is playing out but, there’s still time for it to get better. And, honestly, even if it doesn’t … I’ll still watch the show to the series finale. 24 has entertained me far much more than it has displeased me … I still consider myself a fan, to the end.

Dunzo! for reals
Confirmed: Fox Announces The End Of ‘24’

Earlier this month we learned the bittersweet news that the Fox network was seriously considering ending the long running hit TV drama 24 (which, in all honesty, revolutionized the hour-long action drama on television) but at that time, no decision about ending the show was made. Since then, we heard a rumor that NBC was interested in picking up the show if Fox decided to end it but no other concrete information about that report has come to light (and, in fact, you’ll read that Kiefer Sutherland admits the NBC plan was never really a viable option). But, just as expected, Fox announced concretely late yesterday that the current season of 24 will be the show’s last. The show is officially dunzo. Here is some press release information issued by Fox late yesterday:

In a joint decision made by 24’s star and executive producer Kiefer Sutherland, executive producer and showrunner Howard Gordon, Twentieth Century Fox Television, Imagine Entertainment and Fox Broadcasting Company, it was determined that the acclaimed series will end its remarkable eight-season run. Jack Bauer’s last day on FOX will conclude when the final two hours of “Day Eight” air Monday, May 24 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). As the countdown to the series’ climactic conclusion races on, the final 11 hours will air uninterrupted Mondays (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Multiple award-winning series star Kiefer Sutherland reflected on the show’s run: “This has been the role of a lifetime, and I will never be able to fully express my appreciation to everyone who made it possible. While the end of the series is bittersweet, we always wanted 24 to finish on a high note, so the decision to make the eighth season our last was one we all agreed upon. This feels like the culmination of all our efforts from the writers to the actors to our fantastic crew and everyone at Fox. Looking ahead to the future, Howard Gordon and I are excited about the opportunity to create the feature film version of 24. But when all is said and done, it is the loyal worldwide fan base that made it possible for me to have the experience of playing the role of Jack Bauer, and for that I am eternally grateful.” Executive producer and showrunner Howard Gordon said, “Kiefer and I have loved every minute of making 24, but we all believe that now is the right time to call it a day. I echo his sentiments of gratitude toward the show’s amazing creative team, as well as the studio and network who have always believed in us and shown us unbelievable support.” “24 is so much more than just a TV show – it has redefined the drama genre and created one of the most admired action icons in television history,” said Peter Rice, Chairman, Entertainment, Fox Networks Group. Kevin Reilly, President, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company added, “We are extremely proud of this groundbreaking series and will be forever thankful to Kiefer, the producers, the cast and crew for everything they’ve put into 24 over the years. It’s truly been an amazing and unforgettable eight days.” “We are so grateful to Kiefer and Howard who have really poured their hearts and souls into making this show over the past eight seasons,” commented Gary Newman and Dana Walden, Chairmen, Twentieth Century Fox Television. “To everyone who contributed to this iconic series over its amazing run, we want to extend our heartfelt appreciation for your incredible work.” Added Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer, “I’m so proud to have been a part of 24, which has become such a cultural phenomenon. And to Kiefer and Howard and everyone who has worked on the show, many thanks.” Now in its eighth season with Kiefer Sutherland starring as the heroic Jack Bauer, the inventive and suspenseful 24 has been nominated for a total of 68 Emmy Awards, winning for Outstanding Drama Series in 2006. Over the course of seven seasons, Sutherland garnered seven Emmy nominations and one win for Outstanding Lead Actor – Drama Series. While the series gained global recognition, Sutherland’s portrayal of the legendary character penetrated the American psyche like no other dramatic television character to become part of the English lexicon. Premiering November 6, 2001, 24 employed a pioneering split-screen, fast-paced format with complex interweaving storylines as viewers followed anti-terrorism agent Jack Bauer through 24 pulse-pounding episodes, each covering one hour and presented in real time. Subsequent seasons combined the show’s unique and trend-setting format while delivering compelling new elements and attracting talented actors and guest stars, including the Emmy Award-winning Cherry Jones (President Allison Taylor). The series also currently stars Mary Lynn Rajskub (Chloe O’Brian), Anil Kapoor (Omar Hassan), Annie Wersching (Renee Walker), Katee Sackhoff (Dana Walsh), Mykelti Williamson (Brian Hastings), Freddie Prinze Jr. (Cole Ortiz), Chris Diamantopoulos (Rob Weiss) and John Boyd (Arlo Glass). The first six seasons were set in Los Angeles, and following the strike-induced delay of Season Seven, “24: Redemption,” a two-hour film bridging Seasons Six and Seven, was set in Africa. Washington, D.C. was the setting for Season Seven, and the final season of 24 finds Jack Bauer thwarting a terrorist attack in New York. At the conclusion of Season Eight, 24 will have a produced a total of 194 episodes (including “24: Redemption”), making it one of the longest-running action television shows in history.

As I mentioned before … the time for the show to end has come. The last couple of seasons have not been great and I would much rather see a show I love end gracefully rather than in a long, drawn-out way that might completely ruin all the great memories of a great show. Even as we mourn the death of a show like 24, we can take comfort in the fact that plans are deffo in the works to move the franchise to the big screen. This may be the end of 24 on the small screen but there is great hope for a string of big-budget films in the near future. After the jump, read a short interview that 24 star Kiefer Sutherland gave to TV Guide regarding the end of the show …

It ain't a party unless the Kief shows up
Kiefer Sutherland Is A Party Crasher

What happens when you throw a house party in Hollywood and you leave your door open to any an all comers? Well, you never know who might come stumbling over your threshhold … unannounced … at 4AM … after the party is long over … which is exactly what happened last Saturday here in SoCal when Kiefer Sutherland did that exact thing at a house party here in LA. Here is a pic of the Kief along with an explanation by the host of said house party:

What do LA-ers do on a Saturday night when they get tired of bar hopping and searching for the Kogi taco truck? They throw a house party! This past Saturday my roommates (Serious ‘Stache contributors) and I decided to open our Beachwood Canyon abode to neighbors, friends, and apparently, Kiefer Sutherland. That’s the beauty of Los Angeles; you never know which inebriated movie star will totter through your door– even if it is 4am and you are the only one left standing, cleaning beer cans and cigarette butts off the floor. Kief walked in looking for a wild rager, only to find me in all my glory, knee deep in trash and clad in flannel pajama pants from 1997. Word travels fast in Hollywood, but not quite fast enough for Old Kief to make it to the party on time. He was kind enough to bring a bottle of Jameson with him (it’s always polite to bring some alcohol to the party.) I’ve gotta say, Kiefer turned out to be one hot fox and a very nice guy. He took time to chat with everyone (he’s sociable), complimented the house decor (he’s courteous), he offered me a swig from his bottle (he’s giving), and let me take a few iphone photos for my mom (she loves 24). He also has a way with words, because as he was leaving he told me (and I quote) that he would “like to maul me like a Russian bear. Like. From that one movie. About a Russian. And a bear.” I don’t know exactly what that means, but I will definitely take it from Jack Bauer.

LOL!! Oh Kiefer … you truly are quite the party animal, you cad. While I’m a bit bothered by the fact that Kiefer still seems to have control issues when it comes to consuming alcohol (a problem that has gotten him in trouble many times before), I’m glad to know that he is a kind party guest (even at 4AM). I don’t know what I would do if Kiefer Sutherland crashed a party at my house but I would hope that it would go down like this scenario here. Much love to the folks at Serious ‘Stache for the head’s up on this AWESOME tale! It sounds like YOUR parties are the kind that I’d love to attend ;)

New day, New castmembers
First Look: Katee Sackhoff & Freddie Prinze, Jr. On ‘24’

Back in May we learned that Freddie Prinze, Jr. (who just became a new dad to baby girl Charlotte Grace with wifey and Buffyverse alum Sarah Michelle Gellar) would be joining the cast of 24 for their upcoming 8th season and in June we learned that Battlestar Gallatica album Katee Sackhoff would also be joining the cast. Last month we got our first look at a new trailer promoting season 8 of 24 which featured both FPJ and Katee along with another new castmember, Anil Kapoor (who starred as the douchey gameshow host in Slumdog Millionaire). Today, we get to check out 3 new promo photos of these new 24 castmembers in their roles on the show:

The first look of Katee Sackhoff on “24″ has been shared as some promotional photos that expose individual characters are released by FOX. The actress is a new addition to the CTU team, being placed as an analyst named Dana Walsh. The role is not only recurring but regular. Dana will work side by side with Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer. The character is described as “a highly respected and down-to-earth data analyst at the new and improved New York branch of CTU.” She reportedly will be entangled in a romantic relationship with field agent Davis Cole who is played by another new regular, Freddie Prinze Jr. The eighth season of “24″ will premiere on January 17, 2010. It will unfold in New York City amidst the shadows of the Statue of Liberty and the United Nations. In this new day, CTU has been upgraded and is run by MBA-schooled and razor-sharp head honcho Brian Hastings.

I am SO loving these new castmembers … I cannot wait for 24 to debut next year. 24 remains one of my fave shows ever and I’ve been counting down the days ’til it hits the air again. After the jump, check out 2 other new promo photos that feature our beloved 24 characters Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) and Chloe O’Brien (Mary Lynn Rajskub) …

He also likes to share the wealth
Kiefer Sutherland Likes To Get His Drink On

Kiefer Sutherland surprised a group of early drinkers in San Pedro, CA recently when he and a group of 24 folks showed up at a bar called The Spot at 7AM to party the morning away. According to TMZ,

Plays the airdrums, talks about the headbutt
Kiefer Sutherland Does ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’

Kiefer Sutherland, who was recently arrested for allegedly headbutting and breaking the nose of a designer at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala here in NYC earlier this month, paid a visit to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night to, among other things, play air drums in order to receive a drum head autographed by The Roots

… oh yeah, and to talk about that headbutting incident. The Kiefster does admit that he really “regrets” that it happened but until the matter is resolved he cannot really talk about it — so Jimmy asks him another fun questions for his interview — he asks Kiefer if he thinks he’s Jack Bauer. After the jump, check out Kiefer‘s answer …

The Cast Of ‘24’ Previews The Season 7 Finale, Launches The DVD

Kiefer Sutherland, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Carlos Bernard and more were on hand at the Wadsworth Theater here in LA last night for a preview screening of the season finale of 24 (which airs on FOX next Monday night) and a launch event for the DVD release of Season 7 (which hits stores next Tuesday). Here are a few pics from the red carpet arrivals at last night’s event:

It PAINS me to reveal that I was graciously invited to attend this event last night but due to my previous engagement in Anaheim, I was unable to attend. I’m so happy to see that most of the cast came out for the event … including Glenn Morshower who plays the amazing Secret Serviceman Aaron Pierce on the show. He is my fave non-main character on the show. It’s really cool that the entire season of the show will be released on DVD the day after the finale airs … I really hate waiting months to get the DVDs after the season ends. This season started out a bit slow, IMHO, but it really picked up about 4 eps in … it’s been a great ride and it all ends next week. I’m still trying to get over the fact that Tony Almeida was a bad guy gone good gone bad. He is such a great character … I’m sure there will be a showdown with Jack Bauer soon (next week??). 24 remains one of my fave shows and I’m bummed that it’s ending next week … but it is of great comfort that the show has been renewed for at least 2 more seasons to come.

After he allegedly headbutts a fashion designer in NYC
Kiefer Sutherland Turns Himself In To The Cops

Oh Kiefer. As you may have heard, Kiefer Sutherland (who is no stranger to run-ins with the police) got himself into a bit of a scuffle earlier this week after the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala took place in NYC. Essentially, it is being alleged that Kiefer headbutted a fashion designer named Jack McCollough after he reportedly bumped into Brooke Shields. As a result of the infraction on McCollough‘s part, Kiefer allegedly headbutted McCoullough in the face causing injury to the poor guy. The NYPD requested that Sutherland turn himself in and with lawyer in tow (and with much fanfare), he did just that in order to be arrested and charged with assault yesterday afternoon:

Kiefer Sutherland was charged Thursday with misdemeanor assault for allegedly headbutting a fashion designer at a New York party. Wearing a black overcoat and carrying an umbrella, the 24 star, 42, turned himself in at about 4 p.m. at the First Precinct, where he was arrested on the third-degree assault charge.

After he was photographed and fingerprinted, Sutherland walked out of the precinct at about 6 p.m. accompanied by his Los Angeles lawyer, Blair Berk. He didn’t answer reporters’ questions but waved to the crowd of photographers before getting into a black town car and driving off. Sutherland is expected within a month to appear before a judge in Manhattan Criminal Court to answer to the misdemeanor, which is punishable by a fine of as much as $1,000 and up to a year in jail. Sutherland allegedly headbutted designer Jack McCollough during a scuffle early Tuesday morning. Sutherland allegedly got physical with McCollough after the designer bumped into fellow party guest Brooke Shields. Los Angeles authorities said they intend to investigate whether Sutherland violated probation for his second DUI conviction in 2007 for which he served seven weeks in jail. If so, he could face additional jail time.

UGH. This is such a crappy scenario. Kiefer, who has had problems with drinking before, could be in big trubs if he is convicted of this assault … especially if it is determined that he violated the terms of his probation. Jack McCollough prolly didn’t expect to have a run-in with Jack Bauer on Monday night … and for his troubles he ended up with an almost busted nose:

It may not look like much now but I know it doesn’t feel good to have one’s nose split open by someone else’s head. I love me some Kiefer but if things really did go down in the way it sounds like it did, I think he needs to be punished for his actions. See folks … you don’t want to eff with Jack Bauer. Even fashion designers can’t be safe.

Grrr! Argh!
Reese Witherspoon & Kiefer Sutherland Promote ‘Monsters Vs. Aliens’ In Germany

24‘s Kiefer Sutherland and Jake Gyllenhaal‘s reported ladyfriend Reese Witherspoon were on hand at the Hotel Adlon in Berlin, Germany for a photocall event to promote their work in the upcoming new 3D animated film Monsters vs. Aliens. Here are a few photos of Kiefer and Reese from the event:

In the new film, Kiefer provides the voice for General W.R. Monger while Reese provides the voice for Susan Murphy/Ginormica. Other voice work in the film is provided by folks like Paul Rudd, Seth Rogan, Rainn Wilson, Amy Poehler, Will Arnett and more! I first saw the 3D trailer in the theater when I saw Coraline in 3D … it looks really cute. I suspect we may see more of these other actors at future press events for this film but for now, Reese and Kiefer will have to do. I never really thought about it but they make a nice couple when you see them standing side by side. I think I’d much prefer to see Reese with Kiefer rather than Jake Gyllenhaal … just imagine, if they started dating we could call them Riefer … but in order to avoid a tangent on that subject, I’ll just move on. Monsters vs. Aliens opens in theaters on March 27. Holla!
