Kiefer Sutherland Likes To Get His Drink On

He also likes to share the wealth
Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

Kiefer Sutherland surprised a group of early drinkers in San Pedro, CA recently when he and a group of 24 folks showed up at a bar called The Spot at 7AM to party the morning away. According to TMZ, Kiefer and crew had just wrapped a shoot for 24 and were lookin’ for a good time … and, apparently, they found one:

Kiefer Sutherland racked up the following $700 bar tab between 7am and 1pm. Yes, those times are correct. We’ve learned the “24″ star and members of the show’s crew popped into The Spot in San Pedro, California last week after wrapping up a shoot nearby — and they were ready to get their drink on. According to an employee at the bar, Kiefer was throwing back scotch & Cokes and bought drinks for everybody in the joint — roughly 30 people. The total damage: $500. No food … all booze. The drinks may have been stiff, but Kiefer wasn’t — we’re told he tipped $200. FYI: We’re told Sutherland — who has a few DUIs under his belt — was responsible this time and used a designated driver when he left the bar.

Lord, Kiefer Sutherland is a CRAZY party animal … reports of him showing up at dive bars like this are quite prevalent. At least I’m happy to know that he seems to have learned his lesson about drunk driving … it sounds like he had a great time AND was smart and safe about it. I’m sure the bar folks appreciated the business … and the $200 tip. While I would love to party with Kiefer, I don’t know that I could hang with him … he is a party animal if I ever I heard of one.

Kiefer Sutherland Does ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’

Plays the airdrums, talks about the headbutt
Friday, May 22nd, 2009

Kiefer Sutherland, who was recently arrested for allegedly headbutting and breaking the nose of a designer at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala here in NYC earlier this month, paid a visit to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night to, among other things, play air drums in order to receive a drum head autographed by The Roots

… oh yeah, and to talk about that headbutting incident. The Kiefster does admit that he really “regrets” that it happened but until the matter is resolved he cannot really talk about it — so Jimmy asks him another fun questions for his interview — he asks Kiefer if he thinks he’s Jack Bauer. After the jump, check out Kiefer’s answer …

The Cast Of ‘24’ Previews The Season 7 Finale, Launches The DVD

The following took place between 6:30PM and 7:30PM
Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

Kiefer Sutherland, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Carlos Bernard and more were on hand at the Wadsworth Theater here in LA last night for a preview screening of the season finale of 24 (which airs on FOX next Monday night) and a launch event for the DVD release of Season 7 (which hits stores next Tuesday). Here are a few pics from the red carpet arrivals at last night’s event:

It PAINS me to reveal that I was graciously invited to attend this event last night but due to my previous engagement in Anaheim, I was unable to attend. I’m so happy to see that most of the cast came out for the event … including Glenn Morshower who plays the amazing Secret Serviceman Aaron Pierce on the show. He is my fave non-main character on the show. It’s really cool that the entire season of the show will be released on DVD the day after the finale airs … I really hate waiting months to get the DVDs after the season ends. This season started out a bit slow, IMHO, but it really picked up about 4 eps in … it’s been a great ride and it all ends next week. I’m still trying to get over the fact that Tony Almeida was a bad guy gone good gone bad. He is such a great character … I’m sure there will be a showdown with Jack Bauer soon (next week??). 24 remains one of my fave shows and I’m bummed that it’s ending next week … but it is of great comfort that the show has been renewed for at least 2 more seasons to come.

Kiefer Sutherland Turns Himself In To The Cops

After he allegedly headbutts a fashion designer in NYC
Friday, May 8th, 2009

Oh Kiefer. As you may have heard, Kiefer Sutherland (who is no stranger to run-ins with the police) got himself into a bit of a scuffle earlier this week after the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala took place in NYC. Essentially, it is being alleged that Kiefer headbutted a fashion designer named Jack McCollough after he reportedly bumped into Brooke Shields. As a result of the infraction on McCollough’s part, Kiefer allegedly headbutted McCoullough in the face causing injury to the poor guy. The NYPD requested that Sutherland turn himself in and with lawyer in tow (and with much fanfare), he did just that in order to be arrested and charged with assault yesterday afternoon:

Kiefer Sutherland was charged Thursday with misdemeanor assault for allegedly headbutting a fashion designer at a New York party. Wearing a black overcoat and carrying an umbrella, the 24 star, 42, turned himself in at about 4 p.m. at the First Precinct, where he was arrested on the third-degree assault charge.

After he was photographed and fingerprinted, Sutherland walked out of the precinct at about 6 p.m. accompanied by his Los Angeles lawyer, Blair Berk. He didn’t answer reporters’ questions but waved to the crowd of photographers before getting into a black town car and driving off. Sutherland is expected within a month to appear before a judge in Manhattan Criminal Court to answer to the misdemeanor, which is punishable by a fine of as much as $1,000 and up to a year in jail. Sutherland allegedly headbutted designer Jack McCollough during a scuffle early Tuesday morning. Sutherland allegedly got physical with McCollough after the designer bumped into fellow party guest Brooke Shields. Los Angeles authorities said they intend to investigate whether Sutherland violated probation for his second DUI conviction in 2007 for which he served seven weeks in jail. If so, he could face additional jail time.

UGH. This is such a crappy scenario. Kiefer, who has had problems with drinking before, could be in big trubs if he is convicted of this assault … especially if it is determined that he violated the terms of his probation. Jack McCollough prolly didn’t expect to have a run-in with Jack Bauer on Monday night … and for his troubles he ended up with an almost busted nose:

It may not look like much now but I know it doesn’t feel good to have one’s nose split open by someone else’s head. I love me some Kiefer but if things really did go down in the way it sounds like it did, I think he needs to be punished for his actions. See folks … you don’t want to eff with Jack Bauer. Even fashion designers can’t be safe.

Reese Witherspoon & Kiefer Sutherland Promote ‘Monsters Vs. Aliens’ In Germany

Grrr! Argh!
Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

24’s Kiefer Sutherland and Jake Gyllenhaal’s reported ladyfriend Reese Witherspoon were on hand at the Hotel Adlon in Berlin, Germany for a photocall event to promote their work in the upcoming new 3D animated film Monsters vs. Aliens. Here are a few photos of Kiefer and Reese from the event:

In the new film, Kiefer provides the voice for General W.R. Monger while Reese provides the voice for Susan Murphy/Ginormica. Other voice work in the film is provided by folks like Paul Rudd, Seth Rogan, Rainn Wilson, Amy Poehler, Will Arnett and more! I first saw the 3D trailer in the theater when I saw Coraline in 3D … it looks really cute. I suspect we may see more of these other actors at future press events for this film but for now, Reese and Kiefer will have to do. I never really thought about it but they make a nice couple when you see them standing side by side. I think I’d much prefer to see Reese with Kiefer rather than Jake Gyllenhaal … just imagine, if they started dating we could call them Riefer … but in order to avoid a tangent on that subject, I’ll just move on. Monsters vs. Aliens opens in theaters on March 27. Holla!

Kiefer Sutherland Gets A Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame

The 2,377th
Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

Kiefer Sutherland, star of Film and TV, was honored with his very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in a ceremony that was held on Hollywood Blvd. right next to the famed Roosevelt Hotel. Here are a few pics of Kiefer along with family and friends at today’s award ceremony for the 2, 377th star on the Walk of Fame:

Emmy Award-winning actor Kiefer Sutherland received the 2,377th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Tuesday, just more than a month before the season premiere of “24,” the Fox Broadcasting series that made him a worldwide star. His father, actor Donald Sutherland, and Joel Schumacher, who directed Kiefer Sutherland in four films, joined him in speaking at the late-morning ceremony next to the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Sutherland was born Dec. 21, 1966, in London while his parents, both actors, were working there. The Sutherlands soon moved to California, but the marriage ended in divorce in 1972. In 1975, Sutherland moved with his mother, Shirley Douglas, to Toronto, where he spent the rest of his youth. Sutherland made his acting debut in the 1983 film, “Max Dugan Returns,” alongside his father. The two also appeared together in the 1996 film “A Time to Kill.” He appeared with his mother in “Woman Wanted” in 2000. His first major motion picture was the 1984 Canadian drama, “The Bay Boy,” which earned him a nomination for a Genie Award, the Canadian version of the Academy Award. Sutherland’s other movie credits include “Stand By Me,” “The Lost Boys,” “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me,” “A Few Good Men,” “Flatliners,” “Young Guns,” and “The Three Musketeers.”

While Kiefer was pretty amazing in Stand By Me, The Lost Boys, A Few Good Men and Flatliners (to name but a few of my fave Kief movies), I love him most for his portrayal of Jack Bauer on the hit FOX series 24. It’s amazing … you never think about how many films a person has appeared in until you see them listed before you … Kiefer has been working his ass off and I am thrilled that he is finally being honored for his accomplishments. I love that his castmates from 24 (most especially Mary Lynn Rajskub) came out for the ceremony but I think I like the pic of Kiefer with his father Donald the most. Much love and congrats, Kiefer! You have deffo earned this honor.

‘24: Redemption’ Premieres

The stars of the '24' season 7 prequel walk the red carpet
Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Kiefer Sutherland, Robert Carlyle, Gil Bellows and Cherry Jones were among the celebs who came out to AMC Theatres – Empire 25 in NYC last night for the world premiere of 24: Redemption, the 2-hour TV movie prequel that will bridge the gap from season 6 to season 7. You may recall that earlier this month, Kiefer and some of these same celebs made an appearance at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, CA at a photography exhibit to promote the TV movie and last night they did a bit more promo work in NYC … clearly, these folks want you to watch this movie when it debuts on FOX this Sunday November 23 at 8PM ;) Here are a few pics from the red carpet last night:

From the press release: The wait is finally over! The highly anticipated two-hour television event takes place in Africa (shot on location) where Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) is working at a school in Africa. He is called upon to stop a ruthless warlord from drafting innocent children into his murderous militia. At home, it’s inauguration day for President-elect Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones) while malevolent mastermind Jonas Hodges (Jon Voight) fans the flames of the international crisis. Setting the stage and raising the stakes for the upcoming season, Bauer faces decisions and sacrifices that will change his life forever in the heart-pounding 24: REDEMPTION.

Trust me, you do not want to miss this TV movie. I was very lucky to be able to preview 24: Redemption in full last month and, as a diehard 24 fan, I loved it. The movie is a bit of a depature from the usual 24 fare but it really does set up the next season very nicely. Having seen the TV movie already, I’m even more excited for the next season to get underway … I suspect that y’all will feel the same after you watch the prequel movie when it airs this coming Sunday night. Jack Bauer is back, bitches! Finally!!!
