It was an incongruous group. On one level were Hollywood royalty Barbra Streisand and Jane Fonda, Joan and Jackie Collins. In their sights, on the next level down, were Mary J Blige, Taylor Swift, Maxwell, Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas, Keyshia, Mos Def, Nelly, Jonas Brothers, Russell Brand and his fiance Katy Perry, the Kings of Leon, Usher and Jon Bon Jovi and many others. They were seated in what is known as the ‘pit’ inside the Beverly Hilton’s international ballroom. The old guard and the new guard of Hollywood movies and rock ‘n’ roll were gathered for the annual pre-Grammy party hosted by music industry mogul Clive Davis, known as ‘golden ears’ for his ability in finding and developing music artists. Some claim the pre-Grammy bash on Saturday night is bigger, and better, than the official Grammy show on Sunday night. It’s certainly a looser affair. Celebrities knock back wine and champagne and table hop. The evening saw Mary J Blige publicly humiliate her band in front of an audience that included recording industry titans and some of the biggest names in rock. The singer lost her cool as, ironically, she was about to sing a song titled No More Drama … Diva she may be but, to be fair to Mary J. Blige, she did sing beautifully and by the time she completed her performance her behaviour towards the band was forgiven and she earned a standing ovation … The night’s most amusing sight was observing Joan Collins and sister Jackie on their feet and waving their arms as Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas performed on stage. At least they moved in time to the music. Jennifer Hudson,who won a best supporting actress Oscar for her performance in Dreamgirls, performed a string of its associated with Barbra Streisand. Beforehand Hudson joked that she was frightened she would forget the lyrics. ‘They kept changing what songs I’d sing so I had to stay focused’, Hudson told the Daily Mail. Clive Davis hailed Oscar, Grammy and Tony award winner Streisand as a ‘unique, singular artist’ who boasted a number one album in five consecutive decades. ‘She’s the movie soundtrack of our lives’, Davis said of Streisand. Other big names at the pre-Grammy gig included Oscar winning actor Jamie Foxx and Harry Connick Jr. Rhianna sat at a prime table in the ‘pit’. This time last year she was seated at a similar table with Chris Brown … His name was missing from every Grammy party this weekend. However, Rhianna’s career has never been hotter and on Saturday everyone in the international ballroom queued to hug her.

Yes, as you may recall it was after Clive Davis’s Pre-Grammy Gala last year that Brown brutally and criminally assaulted Rihanna. I’m so happy to see that Rihanna had no qualms about attending this event a year later, especially considering the horrible memories it is bound to dredge up. Grammy weekend does not get started until Clive throws his party so … it is now officially upon us. The Grammy Awards air LIVE on the East Coast starting at 8pm ET. Kevin Jonas and Danielle Deleasa’s wedding earlier this month was like a fairy tale – complete with a castle, an enchanted forest and glass slippers in the bride’s shoe size, a gift from the groom. “I knew that my princess needed her glass slippers and her castle,” Jonas told PEOPLE of the nuptials. “I always wanted my wedding to have that princess feel,” adds the new Mrs. Jonas. “I couldn’t have imagined this,” she says of her lavish wedding Dec. 19 at Oheka Castle in Huntington, New York. Despite a blizzard blanketing the roads around the castle, the wedding went forward without a hitch, and the bride, escorted by her father Thomas “Bucky” Deleasa, walked down the aisle to “Bella Notte,” from Lady and the Tramp, played on the guitar by a friend of the Jonas family. “I’m an Italian girl. It just fit me and my dad,” said Danielle of the song choice. The groom’s father Kevin Jonas Sr., an ordained minister, officiated along with Danielle’s childhood pastor, Rev. Ron DePasquale Jr. After reciting traditional vows, the couple exchanged Jacob & Co. wedding bands that they designed for one another. “I’ve never seen a more beautiful bride,” said Kevin of Danielle, who he calls his “Jersey Girl” and who wore a strapless tulle and Chantilly lace Vera Wang gown at the ceremony.

Uhhhhhh … glass slippers? Seriously? LOL … you know it was all his idea, too. I mean … yeah. Doesn’t it kinda sound like this wedding was orchestrated like a couple of kids who were playing “wedding”? HMMM. Well, whatever … as long as they are happy together, that’s really all that matters. Here’s to many happy years ahead for the happy couple … full of glass slippers and shorty shorts galore ;)

Yay!! It may have taken a legal wedding ceremony to get the job done but at last, one of the Jonas brothers is gettin’ some! While I am not really a fan (at all) of anything Jonas related, I must admit that I am happy that Kevin found himself a life partner to share his life and love with. I wish them a long and happy life together and all the sex they can handle. After all of that abstaining of the flesh, I think they both deserve it, don’t you?

Cheese or anything … it was, like, a serious grown-up place and everything. I understand that Danielle and the JoBros partied with 30 of their closest friends. Sounds like fun, don’t it?

Kevin Jonas surprised his girlfriend Danielle Deleasa by showing up at her doorstep in New Jersey early Wednesday morning and dropping down to his knee to ask her to marry him. Presented with a cushion-cut diamond ring that Jonas designed with Jacob & Co., Deleasa couldn’t believe what was happening. Then, “She said yes, yes, yes like 500 times super fast in a row,” the oldest of the Jonas Brothers tells PEOPLE exclusively. Jonas, 21, and Deleasa, 22, who met in May of 2007 while vacationing with their families in the Bahamas, haven’t set a wedding date yet. “It still feels like a dream,” she tells PEOPLE.

I, uh, suppose congrats are in order for the happy couple. It seems almost Biblical that folks this young would choose to get married but the Jonas Bros. are kind of a religious bunch. If the Jonas Brothers‘ first moment on the cover of Rolling Stone found them reaching the height of teen pop stardom, their latest — on stands this week — finds them pushing for an even loftier goal: musical credibility. “I think we are working to make that trade without having to give anything up,” Kevin Jonas tells Rolling Stone in our cover story. “But I think it will take time, because of where we came from. I would honestly say to anybody, if you were in a band like us, you would take advantage of those platforms too. It’s easy for people to say, ‘No, I’m a real rock & roller,’ but I think you do what you’ve got to do.” Our Jenny Eliscu spent time with the brothers in Los Angeles as they prepared to hit the road in support of their most ambitious album yet, Lines, Vines and Trying Times. The album, the tour and much of what the band does these days seems designed to help facilitate the leap from teen pop to contemporary rock. It’s a challenging feat that few have pulled off. But the brothers are working hard on what they know will be a long, slow march to credibility. Eliscu found Nick on point as the band’s creative lead, putting their touring band through their paces (his brothers have started calling him “Mr. President”), while Kevin helps to steer the Jonas business and image (he even built a foam 3-D scale model of the band’s new stage set, which now takes 180 people to assemble at each show). “We have an operation around us that we run,” Kevin tells Rolling Stone. “It’s not run for us, or dictated to us. Everything that we do, we sign off on.” But even with a strong operation and a lot of hard work, the band knows that teen idols rarely make the leap to “serious artist.” “Personally, I’m not in the band to say, ‘Hey, you need to respect us, take us seriously,’ because that’s kind of stupid,” Joe tells RS. “We’re doing it because we love it, and we don’t care what age group we attract. If they like our music, they like our music, and if they don’t, fine. We don’t need you like our music.”

In the end, I really respect that these young guys have as much control over their careers as they do. They seem pretty grounded and are talented … whether you appreciate their music or not (which I don’t) you have to give them props for doing their thing to the best of their ability and enjoying much success from all of their hard work. Gone are the days when popstars are completely controlled and exploited by larger entities (for example, like Tiffany in the 1980’s who was a huge popstar that had no say about anything and ended up with NOTHING after her career was all said and done). These days, these millionaire tween stars have a lot of control over their careers … it’s pretty incredible. After the jump, check out a few photos from their RS photoshoot …

It appears that they are trying to look more mature, at least in these photos, and yet still maintain their Jonas look. Again, I honestly am not a fan of their music but I can appreciate the appeal. I love me some terrible pop music and I’m sure if I listened to enough of their stuff I bet I could find a song that I like but it’s just not what I’m into. That being said, I’m sure their fans absolutely adore them which is all well and good. Obvs there is a market for a new “Hanson” band and these guys are running with it. Can’t blame ‘em, don’t hate ‘em and, on the real, have a modicum of respect for ‘em.
