In what can only be described as an attempt to show the world how truly and entirely idiotic she is, former Project Runway contestant Kenley Collins (who was arrested earlier this year for assaulting her then then-fiancée, Zak Penley, with various items including the couple’s cat) opens up to The Daily Beast and talks about how hilarious it was to be jailed for her crime. Remembering how absolutely irritating and awful she was on PR, I can absolutely hear her insipid guffawing as she explains to the interviewer that “Jail was really funny” because she was “… thrown into this cell with like 25 girls, and half of them know who I am, so it is really hilarious.”. A former contestant on Heidi Klum’s TV designer challenge Project Runway is laughing off her recent jail sentence for allegedly beating her ex-fiance – insisting her two days behind bars were “hilarious”. Finalist Kenley Collins was arrested on 17 March and charged with two counts of assault, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment for throwing her cat and a laptop computer at Zak Penley at his apartment in Brooklyn, New York. The 26 year old pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was jailed in April. She was also fined $120 (£80) and handed a two-year protection order prohibiting her from contacting her Penley. But Collins insists life behind bars was enjoyable.

Not only enjoyable but inspirational, too … she explains:

“Jail inspired me!” Collins says from a swivel-chair in her Brooklyn studio. She wears black ballet flats, cigarette-cut jeans, a sheer white button-up top and her trademark siren-red lipstick. “It made me appreciate freedom. As soon as I got out I made a kick-ass line and did a photo shoot with 10 of my pieces. Everyone kept saying I put new meaning in the phrase ‘pussy-whipped.’” She giggles and takes a spin in her seat. “After two days they let me out on my own recognizance,” she says. “I mean, listen, nobody got hurt. He really just didn’t want me to break up with him, that’s all. Looking back I’m like, ‘Huh? Did that really happen?’”

She also explains in her own words how she believes the altercation with her fiancée (and cat) really went down:

“Please,” she says now. “What I really said was, ‘Here! Feed your cat!’ and handed it to him. It was all just really ridiculous.” During her two days in jail, Collins wore a “comfy” black Gap T-shirt, jeans and a red hooded sweatshirt that “doubled as a great blanket.” All in all, it wasn’t so bad. “Oh gosh!,” she squeals, spinning in her chair, “I had those women cracking up! But the girl next to me was in there for, like, stabbing her man in the head, like 25 times. She was hardcore.”

Puke. Seriously, I really could not stand her on the show and hearing her in this interview reminds me why. I suppose she should be commended for trying to turn a horribly embarrassing situation into something positive … while it didn’t work on me, I’m sure it might work on someone else out there. Anyone dumb enough to be charmed by her? Anyone?

Altho the fully completed sixth season of Project Runway has yet to see the light of day, Bunim-Murray productions (the same production company that created The Real World and is now in charge of producing the Lifetime TV version of PR) has posted information on their official website about the season 7 casting. As you may recall, the Weinstein Company (which owns Project Runway) reached a settlement agreement earlier this month with NBC Universal (the parent company of Bravo TV, PR‘s former network home) to let the show make the move to Lifetime. Unfortch, the settlement came after the entirety of season 6 was filmed and fully completed. It remains to be seen when/if that season will air on television … but progress waits for no one. Casting for season 7 is now underway:

The application for Project Runway is 20 pages long, is due by next week and can be downloaded HERE … interested folks should get crackin’ if they hope to make it on the show. I’m encouraged that production on the next season is getting started … now, if we could just find out when season 6 of Project Runway will air on TV, I’d be all set. I really hope that Lifetime doesn’t drop the ball on this series. Now that they can legally air the show, I don’t know what they are waiting for … air the damn thing already. Making Project Runway fans wait any longer than they have to for new stuff is not a good way to win the favor of the fanbase.

Last Thursday we learned that Project Runway season 5 loser Kenley Collins was arrested in NYC after she allegedly attacked her boyfriend, Zak Penley, with various objects — including a cat — and today we learn that Project Runway season 5 winner, Leanne Marshall, has got a thing or two to say about it. Additionally, it is being reported that Kenley has decided to let the ex that she allegedly attacked keep the cat that she allegedly attacked him with (it’s name is Arlo). If she thinks that’s gonna get her off the hook, she’s sorely mistaken:

“Project Runway” kook Kenley Collins said yesterday her ex-fiancée can keep the cat she allegedly hurled at him like a fur-ball-istic missile. The reality-TV fashion finalist who was arrested Tuesday on charges she assaulted Zak Penley, 28, with their cat Arlo, as well as a laptop computer, three apples and a glass of water told The Post they are splitting custody of their two pets. “The girl cat [Sandra] is mine and the boy cat [Arlo] is his,” she said. Collins, who placed third in the show to pick the best fashion designer, was reviled by fans for her rudeness to the judges and co-host Tim Gunn last season. Winner Leanne Marshall said the incident proves the Bravo show did not distort reality. “This should put a clear answer to the question I am most frequently asked, ‘Was Kenley really that awful, or was she just edited like that?’ ” Marshall told the Post. “When she got angry, I knew to keep my distance. Clearly, she needs therapy.” But though Collins frequently displayed her temper on camera and on the set, she never actually became violent. “I feel a little sorry for her that she can’t control her emotions and behavior, but on the other hand, absolutely nothing excuses physical violence and throwing a poor, defenseless kitty at someone who is sleeping,” Marshall said. “I feel bad for the cat, the bruised apples and Zak.” Gunn and supermodel co-host Heidi Klum declined to comment on her behavior. Collins was hauled away from the couple’s Williamsburg apartment Tuesday morning and spent the night in jail. She was released Wednesday morning without bail on charges of assault and criminal possession of a weapon the cat. If convicted, she faces a maximum sentence of seven years in prison, authorities said. According to a police report, the violence erupted at 7 a.m. Tuesday morning, while Penley was sleeping. After throwing Arlo at his head, Collins proceeded to pelt Penley with whatever she could get her hands on, cops said. She later said it was a “miscommunication.” Penley refused to discuss the cause of the fight, but according to Collins, she broke up with him. “He wanted to travel and I wanted to stay in New York,” she said.

LOL. Seriously, this whole ridiculous story is funny enough as it is but to hear these new details, well, it’s just absurd. I think it’s funny that both Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn opted out of commenting on Kenley‘s alleged crime but that PR winner Leanne Marshall was happy to talk. It was clear that the ladies didn’t get along on the show and Leanne is prolly right that it was due in large part to Kenley‘s behavior. I seem to recall that she managed to cause conflict with pretty much everyone on the show, which caused pretty much everyone on the show to hate her guts. It’s a good thing that no animals are allowed on the set of Project Runway cuz there might have been a cat-astrophe much sooner in Kenley‘s reality life. While I doubt that she will actually get seven years in prison for her alleged crime but I do hope that she gets some form of serious punishment. Not only should she face the consequences of attacking her ex-fiancée but she should also be punished for abusing her cat. And just think, on the positive side, if Kenley does get locked up she’ll be restricted from committing any future crimes against fashion as well.

According to the New York Police Department, Collins, 26, remembered by Runway fans for her brash manner and 1940s style, was charged with two counts of assault, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment after potentially striking a male in the head and face with a computer. According to earlier reports from TMZ.com, the reality star allegedly attacked her sleeping ex-fiancé with her pet cat, water, several apples and the laptop. The Web site also reports that Collins is currently being held in jail. Calls to Brooklyn county clerk’s office were not immediately returned, and attempts by PEOPLE to identify Collins’s attorney were not successful.
