Today we learn, again from Kelly herself, that yes her album is coming out this year … but not as soon as we may have thought. Kelly Clarkson DENIES That She Is Working With Ryan Tedder Again

On Wednesday we learned the shocking news that Kelly Clarkson supposedly agreed to collaborate again with One Republic frontman Ryan Tedder on new music for her new album (even tho, you may recall, she famously feuded with him over a song he wrote for her that sounds very much like a song he wrote for Beyoncé). In a new interview, Tedder claimed that the pair were no longer feuding and that he was writing new songs for her new album. Today we hear from Kelly herself and, as I suspected, she absolutely denies that she is working with Ryan Tedder again:

Contrary to Ryan Tedder’s statement, Kelly Clarkson said she doesn’t work with him in her next studio album. The winner of “American Idol” season 1 simply wrote “no” when responding to question about that matter during a Twitter party on May 28. However, Kelly indeed admitted she is now in the middle of completing her fifth studio effort. “I’ve been working in the studio a lot for this next album & can’t wait for y’all to hear it! New favorite is ‘You’re the only one for me’,” she shared. Other details about the upcoming release are not revealed, but in a message written a day earlier she stated, ” ‘Cleopatra’ is NOT a song on my next record! It was written for another artist! I have no idea how it leaked, it’s a rough demo, unfinished!” Ryan Tedder previously claimed he has put aside his feud with Kelly Clarkson, saying “I’m working on stuff for her next album and am personally over any of the drama between the two of us.”

LMAO!! Yeah, this is more like it. I had a real hard time believing Tedder‘s story that not only has he mended fences with Kelly Clakson but that she also agreed to work with him again on new music. The only way I could ever see Kelly Clarkson agreeing to work with Ryan Tedder again is if she was being forced to do so by her record label. I’m happy to know that that isn’t the case.

As new Idol is crowned, Simon Cowell says goodbye
‘American Idol’ 2010 Picks A New Winner

And so … America picks a new American Idol to reign over the landscape of competitive reality TV musicdom. Last night, the latest season of American Idol came to a close in a lavish finale episode that featured a host of big name musical acts, a tearful goodbye to the show’s meanest judge and — of course — the revelation of America’s pick for this year’s Idol. Here are a few photos of some of the big name musical acts who performed during last night’s finale ep:

While I am not a huge fan of the show itself, even I have to admit that American Idol puts on some of the most entertaining finale episodes on TV these days. Last night’s ep featured performances by Janet Jackson, Christina Aguilera, Alanis Morissette, Bret Michaels, Carrie Underwood (herself a former AI winner) and more! It was deff worth tuning in just to see these pop stars pay homage to America’s biggest musical popularity contest. But, of course, the entire night lead up to the big announcement. In the end, there were 2 contestants left … Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze. But only one of them could be named this year’s American Idol. And the winner is …

Kelly Clarkson & Ryan Tedder To Work Together Again On New Music

So … remember that drama that took place last Summer when Kelly Clarkson angrily shared with the world her belief that One Republic frontman Ryan Tedder wrote a song for her that he had already given to Beyoncé, making her look like a copy cat? And remember earlier this month how we got to hear a leaked demo of a diss track titled Wash, Rinse, Repeat that Kelly Clarkson wrote and recorded expressing how angry she was to be conned by both Tedder and her record label? Yeah … it turns out that, according to Tedder himself, all of that drama is water under the bridge … because he claims to be working with Kelly on new music for her new album:

Kelly Clarkson apparently has left behind her beef with Ryan Tedder as they have reunited for her upcoming fifth studio album. Opening up about that matter was the frontman of OneRepublic himself in a recent interview. “I’m working on stuff for her next album and am personally over any of the drama between the two of us,” Ryan told The Denver Post. The vocalist furthermore commented on the similarity of Kelly’s “Already Gone” and Beyonce Knowles’ “Halo”. He said, “It’s silly. ‘Already Gone’ is now a bigger hit than ‘Halo’ was, so I think she’s probably happy, too.” On Kelly’s recently-leaked song “Wash, Rinse, Repeat”, Ryan didn’t rule out any possibility that the “American Idol” singer slams him on the track. He stated, “I’m pretty sure that song was ‘somewhat’ about me … and her record label.” But, the 30-year-old singer/songwriter didn’t despise it. He gushed, “I actually like it – I think Kelly speaks her mind regardless of anything. She’s great with lyrics, and I love that she is her own person. She’s no puppet.”

Yeah, I think this deserves a hearty WTF?! Now, we have to consider that this is Ryan Tedder speaking here, not Kelly Clarkson. All along, Tedder has been trying to downplay Kelly‘s beef with him (choosing instead to focus on her anger with her record label) so it would make sense for him to maintain an ongoing friendship with Kelly. I’m having a real hard time believing that Kelly would ever willingly choose to work with Ryan Tedder ever again. Unless she has had a HUGE change of heart (which is possible), the only way I can believe that Tedder and Clarkson will be collaborating musically again is if her record label is forcing her to do so (which is very likely). If Kelly is being forced into this collaboration, I doubt we’ll be hearing from her any confirmation that she is unwillingly working with Tedder again. I’m not sure what to think about this … but until I hear from Kelly herself, I’m not really counting on any new music from a Clarkson/Tedder team.

What do y’all think … have Kelly Clarkson and Ryan Tedder truly buried the hatchet?

Ryan Tedder, I think this song is for you

Remember that bit of controversy last Summer when Kelly Clarkson got pissed that her song Already Gone, written by One Republic frontman Ryan Tedder, sounded an awful lot like Beyoncé‘s hit single Halo which was, coincidentally, also written by Ryan Tedder? As you may recall, Kelly was very vocal about how she believed that Tedder intentionally gave her essentially the same song that he had already given to Beyoncé … but with new lyrics. Well, it would seem that Kelly is still pissed off because a diss track titled Wash, Rinse, Repeat as leaked its way to the Internets and it seems to address the Tedder controversy in the lyrics:

Despite the fact that she has sounded off her outrage following the leak of her songs earlier last month, another never-before-heard material from Kelly Clarkson hits the web again. Titled “Wash, Rinse, Repeat”, the track reportedly carries lyrics which lash out at Ryan Tedder and her record label. The winner of “American Idol” season 1 is rumored to slam the frontman of OneRepublic for writing her a song called “Already Gone” which coincidentally sounds similar to another Ryan-penned track, Beyonce Knowles’ “Halo”. She sings, “Music from the past, from the present, well just last week / We will change a note and get away with it (wait and see) / Just when you think we’ve changed like an addict we sweep back in with a dose of reality.” In other lines, Kelly reportedly takes aim at her label’s bosses who at that time released the single without her consent. “I’ll be playin’ God and you can be my bitch / The only compromise is you get to pick which of these formula’s is your perfect fit .. Wash, rinse, repeat, why are you fighting it? / No, no no, don’t get crazy keep between those lines / Here’s what we have in mind, we’ve worked with everyone trust us and see / Wash, rinse and repeat,” so the lyrics read. Back in July 2009, Kelly Clarkson revealed her frustration after learning that her “Already Gone” has “similar elements” that Ryan Tedder used in Beyonce Knowles’ single. “No-one’s gonna be sittin’ at home, thinking ‘Man, Ryan Tedder gave Beyonce and Kelly the same track to write to.’ No, they’re just gonna be saying I ripped someone off. I called Ryan and said, ‘I don’t understand. Why would you do that?’,” she said back then. “In the end, they’re releasing it without my consent. It sucks, but it’s one of those things I have no control over.”

As I said last July when I blogged about this controversy when it happened, I totally hear the similarity between the two songs and I am totally on Team Kelly. I LOVE that she took her frustration out in song … it’s just a shame that this diss track won’t get the attention it truly deserves. Kelly is amazing. She is so crazy talented, I just love her. This song rules … I love it entirely. I don’t think it’s going to win her favor from her record company bosses (and I imagine Ryan Tedder ain’t gonna be a fan of this track) but KC is sticking to her guns and I can’t help but respect her for it. You go, Kelly!!

Taylor Swift was the big winner of the night, y'all!!
The 2009 American Music Awards Are Handed Out

Earlier today we learned all about Adam Lambert‘s shocking performance at the 2009 American Music Awards last night, as well as Jennifer Lopez‘s embarrassing fall at the AMAs … but there were other things going on at the Nokia Theater where the AMAs took place that are kinda worth mentioning. Celebs strutted their stuff on the red carpet on the way into the show, other folks performed songs without incident and a few awards were even handed out … who knew? Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals:

Yes, peeps were lookin’ purdy and stuff on the red carpet but let’s get to the awards. Taylor Swift, who has been cleaning up at awards shows all year long already, was the biggest winner of the night … she took home 5 awards including Artist of the Year! Michael Jackson also enjoyed a big night last night taking home a few posthumous awards of his own as did Whitney Houston, who became the 7th person ever to win the International Artist of the Year award from the AMAs:

Country crossover star Taylor Swift overshadowed the late Michael Jackson at the American Music Awards on Sunday, winning five prizes including artist of the year. Jackson, who had been expected to enjoy a clean sweep, ended up with four awards. He and Swift went head-to-head in the artist of the year race, the ceremony’s final prize. Other multiple winners included hip-hop acts Jay-Z and the Black Eyed Peas, with two each. Swift, 19, was also named favorite female artist in the pop/rock and country categories, and favorite adult-contemporary artist. Her 2008 album “Fearless,” the best-selling release in the United States this year, was named favorite country album. She accepted her awards live via satellite from backstage at London’s Wembley Arena, where she will perform a concert on Monday. “Music has never been ultimately about competition,” Swift said, after winning the artist of the year prize. She said it was an “unimaginable honor” to be cited in the same category as Jackson, and thanked the Jackson family. Jackson was named favorite male artist in the pop/rock and soul/R&B categories, while his 2003 hits collection “Number Ones” was named favorite album in both those categories. The album is the No. 2 seller this year in the United States. His brother Jermaine, accompanied by sons Jeremy, Jaafar and Jermajesty, accepted on his behalf. At one point, he thanked Allah “for blessing my entire family.” Rapper Eminem, making a rare awards-show appearance in the wake of his four nominations, went home empty-handed. Glam-pop singer Lady Gaga, rock band Kings of Leon and jailed rapper T.I., who earned three nominations each, were also snubbed. The Black Eyed Peas were named favorite group in both the pop/rock and soul/R&B categories. Jay-Z won favorite male artist and favorite album in the rap/hip-hop categories. His wife Beyonce, who was performing a show in Dublin, was named favorite female artist in the soul/R&B category. Punk rock trio Green Day won the favorite alternative artist. Rascal Flatts won favorite country group for the fourth year in a row.

Crazy, right? Well, since the AMAs are handed out according to fan voting I guess it’s all Y’ALL’s fault that Taylor won so many awards. The girl must really be enjoying life right now … whether it’s deserved or not (many, many folks argue that it is not) she is really taking home some major awards this year. I say, congrats … I hope she really appreciates it all. After the jump, check out a few photos from the AMAs show itself and see what else went down on the Nokia Theater stage last night …

Performs LIVE at the Hollywood & Highland Complex
Kelly Clarkson Closes Out The Samsung/AT&T Summer Krush Concert Tour

Last night in Hollywood, CA, Kelly Clarkson performed a live concert at the Hollywood & Highland Complex to close out the Samsung/AT&T Summer Kush Concert Tour in front of hordes of fans. My roving reporter and BFF Darion was on hand to attend last night’s concert and he sends in a bunch of fantastic photos to share with all of us. Here are some of Darion’s photos along with his take on Kelly Clarkson‘s live performance last night:

Josh and I had the pleasure of attending a live outdoor concert today at the Hollywood and Highland complex in Los Angeles – next to the Kodak theater, where they host the Oscars. We had SUCH an amazing night! It was the final concert in the Samsung AT&T Summer Krush concert tour – and headlining tonight was one of my favorite singers, Kelly Clarkson! They were also taping several songs for Jimmy Kimmel Live! – Set to air tonight, Tuesday September 15th on his show. Samsung/AT&T were there to promo their new Samsung Jack slim mobile phone, and had kiosks set up where you could check it out. Josh and I were set up in the VIP area at the H&H “Babylon Court”, with a great vantage point above the crowds – PLUS an open bar and tons of food! It was kind of ridic. Kelly came on shortly after 8pm – and got off to a rousing start with “Miss Independent”! The crowd went ballistic and you could tell there were a lot of hardcore fans there. She then slowed things down with “Already Gone”, then got people jumping with “My Life Would Suck Without You” – which made for such a cool sight! Looking up and down the various levels of the Hollywood & Highland complex, you could see people jumping and singing along on every floor! I had the pleasure of attending Kelly’s last tour through LA for her latest album, and let me tell you – the girl can SING! She puts on such a great show. Josh hadn’t seen her live before, and was blown away by how great she sounds live! Her voice is just amazing – if you get the chance to see her on her tour, GO! There’s no lipsyncing, homegirl has some pipes! Kelly continued with “Breakaway”, “If I Can’t Have You”, and then what she called one of her personal favorites – “Never Again”. Several times throughout the show I thought she was waving to us – but apparently we were standing next to some ‘close personal friends’ of hers. Awww! I still pretended she was singing to me! ;) The acoustics outside sounded great and the crowd was really crazy for her – you could tell Kelly was having fun and she was really playful with the crowd. She ended the concert by performing Since You Been Gone – you could feel the thumping of everyone jumping and going crazy! The concert rocked and it was an amazing night, we had a blast! HUGE shout out to Wendy for setting us up, and Danielle and the Samsung/AT&T crew for taking care of us – and most of all to Trent & PITNB!

Aww … I’m so glad that Darion and Josh had a great time last night. Trust me, if I were home I would’ve deffo been there to see Kelly Clarkson perform live but I’m really happy that Darion and Josh were there to enjoy it for themselves. I have been very fortunate to see Kelly perform live before and Darion is right, homegirl can sing and she absolutely does so live. Much love to Wendy and Danielle from Samsung/AT&T for taking such good care of my friends and love goes out to Darion and Josh for reporting back.

[thanks Darion]
