Happy 4th of July, y’all!! In celebration of the birth of the United States of America today, I thought it’d be fun to share one of my fave songs that is also very appropriate for the holiday. Now, Kelis may have released the music video for her single 4th of July (Fireworks) last year but I think it’s deffo worth watching again today … on the 4th of July.

It is that time of the year when I compile my list of favorite albums of the year … and what a diverse year of music it was. To be honest, I really wasn’t wowed by the music of 2010 until pretty late in the year. Some albums snuck up on me as one of the year’s faves, others surprised me entirely … and, of course, some were surefire loves as soon as they were released. Here is my list of the 10 Best Albums of 2010.

Zac Efron may be on the cover of Wonderland magazine this month but the amazing Kelis is featured inside the mag … and she is lookin’ FIERCE in her Wonderland photospread. Here are just a few of her fabulous photos:

Heh. Considering how sparsely bare Zac‘s new facial hair is lookin’ these days, I’d have to say that Kelis‘s ‘stache in this first photo looks much better than his ;) But in all seriousness, Kelis looks great in these photos … they’re stylish and hip without being too over the top or forced. Kelis is my girl, I love her entirely. This is a great photospread. With Zac on the cover and Kelis inside, this issue of Wonderland is a deffo must have.

Last night my friend Josh and I made our way to the Henry Fonda Theater to see Kelis and Robyn kick off their co-headlining All Hearts Tour in front of a packed house which was 99.9% gay. It was like church in that place, I have to tell you … but it was loads of fun:

While the tour is a co-headlining one, Kelis does go on first to get the party started. Homegirl came out in a sequined jumpsuit and a sparkly wig that looked like something Rick James might’ve worn back in the day. Now, I’ve been a Kelis fan for YEARS ever since she released her first album Kaleidoscope so I was really excited to see my girl live, on stage. I was not disappointed. Kelis KILLED her set last night. She sang hit after hit and got the crowd all riled up. I never thought it was possible for an artist to make a room full of white boys think they’ve go soul and rhythm … but Kelis did it last night. After spending all day and night yesterday doing a whole lotta nothin’, I’m gearing up again for an evening of fun tonight. Because everyone on Earth, it seems, already saw Inception last week while I was in France, I’m heading out later this afternoon to see the film for myself. I’ve heard good things about it and I really love Christopher Nolan‘s films so … I’m excited. Later on tonight, Josh and I will be going to see Kelis and Robyn on their All Hearts Tour at the The Henry Fonda Theater in Hollywood, CA:

You may recall that last month Kelis and Robyn announced that they are hittin’ the road here in the US this Summer for a co-headlining tour together which gets underway here in Hollywood tonight. I am SO excited, you can’t even believe. I understand that both ladies will be performing full sets each so it should be a really fun time in Hollywood tonight. I’ll do my best to share any fun photos that I happen to snap tonight on the blog tomorrow.

It’s the weekend, y’all!! I hope all y’all can get out there and enjoy it! Wee.

Kelis and her baby boy Knight Rogers, who was born back in July of last year, stepped out here in SoCal together and made the cutest little couple:

I believe this is the first good look that we’ve gotten of little Knight since he was born last year. He is a cutie! Earlier today we saw adorable photos of SMG out with her daughter Charlotte Grace … who is about the same age as lil’ Knight here. Wouldn’t it be fantastic if they ended up together somewhere down the line? Considering how cute they each are now, they might make a great couple in the future ;)

Kelis has unveiled a music video for her new single, a mid-tempo slower jam titled 4th of July (Fireworks), for our viewing pleasure … behold, here are a few screencaps of Kelis gettin’ her groove on in the desert while fireworks explode overhead:

Kelis’ “4th of July (Fireworks)” finally comes out in full after being teased through set pictures and short snippet. It has the 30-year-old Grammy-nominated singer strutting her way on the desert and features her performing in front of fireworks among other scenes. Shot in the scorching desert outside Los Angeles, the new clip is co-directed by Kelis, Rankin and Nicole Ehrlich. It is described as a “spectacular array of visual stimulation seeing Kelis play dynamically upon the four elements of the universe.” “4th of July” itself is confirmed to be included in Kelis’ forthcoming studio album “Flesh Tone”. The new song will be showcased live for the very first time on North American TV when she visits “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on June 18. Several other TV appearances are already lined up and can be checked on Kelis’ official website where detailed info of her “All Hearts” tour which will start on July 23 can also be found.

While I really love the harder, faster songs that Kelis tends to put out I can’t really say a bad thing about the slower jams that are featured on her new album Flesh Tone. I think the album is so solidly perfect, I love every song I’ve heard thus far … and this song is no exception. Check out the video in full, after the jump …

It’s Gay Pride Weekend here in Los Angeles, CA centered squarely on West Hollywood and the festivities are already in full swing. The celebratin’ got started on a smaller scale Friday night but it exploded yesterday on the LA Pride Main Stage of the 40th Los Angeles GLBT Pride Celebration in WeHo last night! Various acts performed for the crowd on the mainstage, including the amazing Ms. Kelis:

Homegirl rocked the hot pink and she looked fabulous! I understand Kelis played a string of hits, including her hot new single Acapella which is the first single off her new album Flesh Tone. Hold on to your hats, y’all!! Swedish pop star Robyn and R&B songstress Kelis have decided to join forces and hit the road this summer on a co-headlining tour called The All Hearts Tour! The ladies will get the party started here in LA on July 23 at the Henry Fonda Theater (tix for which I managed to secure earlier today). Robyn and Kelis will kick off a North American co-headlining tour on July 23rd at The Music Box in Los Angeles. The two recently exchanged tweets about the outing, deciding to name it the “All Hearts” tour. Robyn and Kelis have selected UK sensation Dan Black and Far East Movement, Robyn’s Cherrytree Records label mates, to kick off the festivities. This has to be the BEST news ever. Both Robyn and Kelis will be releasing amazingly exciting new albums this Summer and now we will get to hear those new tracks performed LIVE on stage … on the same night! I’m very glad to hear the tour is a co-headlining one … that means both ladies will play full show sets. I honestly can’t think of a better pairing than Robyn and Kelis … I am so excited!! I’ll be there for sure on opening night … trust me, you’re gonna wanna get tix for this tour should it come to your city. This just might be the best tour of the entire Summer!
