MJ's Children, Family & Justin Bieber Honor The Late King of Pop
Michael Jackson ‘Immortal’ized At Grauman’s Chinese Theater

At the start of this month, we learned that the late Michael Jackson was to be immortalized in cement in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood, CA to kick off the 3-week LA residency of Michael Jackson: The Immortal Tour by Cirque Du Soleil. The big hand/footprint ceremony took place yesterday and featured MJ‘s 3 children — Prince Michael Joseph, Paris Michael Katherine and Prince Michael Joseph Blanket Jackson — doing the honor of signing his name, imprinting his sequined glove and a pair of his dancing shoes in cement. Many members of the Jackson family (including his mother Katherine and his brothers Tito, Jackie, Marlon and Jermaine) were also on hand for the event yesterday, alongside luminaries like Quincy Jones, Smokey Robinson … and strangely, Justin Bieber. Click below to see some photos from yesterday’s event and watch video of MJ‘s children paying tribute to their late father.

Oprah's worldwide exclusive
Oprah Winfrey Previews Her Visit With Michael Jackson’s Mother, Father & Children

Last month we got our very first look at Oprah Winfrey‘s visit to the home of Michael Jackson‘s mother Katherine where she conducted an exclusive interview for The Oprah Winfrey Show. Earlier this week we got our first look at a promo image of Oprah with MJ‘s children Prince Michael Joseph, Paris Michael Katherine and Prince Michael Joseph, II aka Blanket from that ep of The Oprah Winfrey Show. Today we get to check out the first video footage released from the ep which will air here in the US on Monday November 8:

Their lives were shrouded in secrecy for most of their childhood, their identities a fiercely guarded secret behind masks enforced by their paranoid father. But since his death, Michael Jackson’s children have come out into the open, appearing at his televised funeral and enrolling in a normal school where they mix with other children. Now, Prince, 13, Paris, 12, and Blanket, eight, have now taken the next step and are going public with an exclusive interview with Oprah Winfrey to be shown this Monday. It’s part of an ‘extensive’ chat the chat show queen has landed with the pop star’s mother Katherine. The children look remarkably happy, healthy and well-adjusted as they chat to Oprah just over a year since the death of their father stunned the world. In the sit-down, which was filmed at the Jackson home in Encino, California … Mrs Jackson will open up about the day the music icon died in June last year. The 80-year-old matriarch is also expected to reflect on Michael’s life as a child star. Her husband Joe appears along with their three grandchildren in a ‘backyard’ visit by Winfrey … There are online rumours that Harpo Productions are also trying to secure a taping with Debbie Rowe, the reclusive mother of Prince and Paris. Harpo has not commented on these claims. The highly anticipated interview is one of a string of sought-after exclusives produced by Harpo for Oprah’s final season.

Naturally, Oprah is NOT releasing too much footage from Monday’s episode just yet … but this quick tease is deffo worth seeing. Check it out, after the jump …

Their first interview
First Look: Michael Jackson’s Children On ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’

Last month we got our first look at Oprah Winfrey with the Jackson family in their Encino, CA home as she interviewed them for an upcoming episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show. A few days later, it was reported that Oprah would also be interviewing Michael Jackson‘s childrenPrince Michael Joseph, Paris Michael Katherine and Prince Michael Joseph, II aka Blanket — for her show. Today we get our first look a promo photo of Oprah with MJ‘s children as she interviewed them for next Monday November 8′s episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show:

Relaxed, smiling and playful – that’s the image of Michael Jackson’s three children captured in a candid photo taken during Oprah Winfrey’s visit to the Jacksons’ Encino, Calif., home last month. Prince, 13, and Paris, 12, are seen smiling as Paris reaches out to Blanket, 8, who is curled up in a lawn chair in the backyard of the home, while Winfrey and the children’s grandparents, Katherine and Joe Jackson, are seated across the table. The talk-show host was there to interview Katherine about Michael’s childhood, his career, his children and his legacy a year and a half after the pop legend’s untimely death at age 50.

While there are many people (me included) who are horribly curious to see the Jackson children interviewed, at least one person is NOT pleased that Oprah sat down to interview the kids in the first place. Randy Jackson has spoken out publicly to voice his displeasure with the interview, stating that MJ would NEVER have allowed his children to be interviewed on TV … not even by Oprah. While that claim is debatable, it is very true that MJ fiercely guarded his children’s privacy and it is unlikely that he would be totally cool with putting his kids on TV like this. Still, the interview has been filmed and is scheduled to air next Monday. Will you be tuning in?

For broadcast on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show'
Oprah Winfrey Visits The Jackson Family

Over the weekend Oprah Winfrey made her way to SoCal to pay an in-house visit with the Jackson family for a taped interview set to air on an upcoming episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show. Oprah chilled with the Jacksons on Saturday and TMZ managed to get their hands on photos snapped of the Big O‘s visit inside the home:

Oprah Winfrey’s production team moved into Katherine Jackson’s Encino, California, home Saturday to tape an interview with Michael Jackson’s mother, a source inside the home said. Winfrey was in the Jackson home to conduct the interview Saturday afternoon, according the source, who asked not to be identified because he was not authorized to speak to the media. Katherine Jackson has not given any interviews since her son’s death last year except for a paid interview for a documentary. Winfrey’s production company did not immediately respond to a CNN request for comment.

As you can see, Oprah met with matriarch Katherine Jackson and her estranged husband Joe Jackson … which seems odd to me considering that the couple have been separated for years and reportedly made the decision to divorce. You can also see that Katherine was pimpin’ out the book that she is selling in memory of her late son Michael Jackson. If memory serves, the Jacksons are also selling a limited edition line of commemorative belts in memory of the late MJ and I’ll bet those belts will show up in the Oprah interview as well. Because this is the first interview that Katherine has given since the interview she gave to The Daily Mirror back in June, I’m certain many will tune in to watch this ep of The Oprah Winfrey Show. Do y’all have any interesting in seeing this Jackson interview with Oprah Winfrey?

Why now?
Katherine Jackson Sues AEG Live For Negligence In The Death Of Michael Jackson

Over one year after the late Michael Jackson passed away in his home here in SoCal in June of 2009, Katherine Jackson – matriarch of the family and legal guardian of MJ‘s children — has launched a lawsuit against AEG Live for negligence in the death of Michael Jackson. Katherine‘s suit alleges that AEG Live should be financially liable for MJ‘s death because they hired Dr. Conrad Murray (the man who is also being sued for MJ‘s death) and Katherine wants them to pay … read on:

Katherine Jackson and Michael Jackson’s children are suing AEG Live — claiming the company breached its agreement to provide physical care for Michael Jackson — and that AEG was negligent in their hiring of Dr. Conrad Murray as MJ’s physician. In the suit, Katherine claims AEG’s contract with Michael “created a legal duty for AEG to act reasonably toward the physical well-being of Michael Jackson.” In the document, Katherine also blames AEG for hiring Dr. Murray without a proper background check — claiming, “AEG did not provide a doctor who was truly looking out for Jackson’s well-being and did not provide equipment.” The suit also alleges AEG caused emotional distress to Michael’s son Prince because he witnessed Michael suffering and dying, and “he was put in a position as bystander to these tragic events.” Kenny Ortega, who produced the planned London concerts for Michael, is also named as a defendant. The attorney who filed the suit, Brian J. Panish, released a statement saying, “The purpose of this lawsuit is to prove to the world the truth about what happened to Michael Jackson, once and for all.”

HMMM … I mean … HMMM. While I understand how difficult it must be still for the Jackson family to deal with the death of MJ, I think it’s a bit much that they are now suing everyone they can for the man’s death. While they may have a case against Dr. Murray, I’m not as sure that they have much of a case against AEG. My guess is that AEG Live‘s contract with MJ is airtight and very likely covered by insurance. Because this is a civil case, the only remedy than can be awarded is money … and I cannot believe that the Jacksons need more money. I can’t help but find this latest lawsuit very suspect but the Jacksons will do whatever they like, they always have … they always will.

Katherine in Gary, IN - the rest of the Jacksons here in SoCal
The Jackson Family Honors Michael Jackson On The Anniversary Of His Death

Earlier today we learned that Jackson family matriarch Katherine Jackson would be appearing at a monument unveiling in Gary, IN at the childhood home of the Jackson family and right now we get to see a few photos of Katherine at today’s ceremony:

It was reported that Katherine would be bringing Michael‘s 3 children with her to Gary for this event but they didn’t appear to be at the ceremony … maybe she decided to let the kids stay in Hawaii so that they could enjoy themselves there instead. As for the rest of the Jackson clan, they remained here in SoCal so that they could visit MJ‘s grave at Forest Lawn Cemetery. After the jump, check out photos of Janet Jackson and her brothers making their appearance at MJ‘s final resting place earlier today …

"I know that Michael would be very honored and pleased ..."

Katherine Jackson, who is releasing a photobook of personal photos of her late son Michael Jackson titled Never Can Say Goodbye, has recorded and released a video message to fans thanking them for their attendance at a memorial service thrown in MJ‘s honor this coming Saturday night. It appears the video has been recorded to drum up interest in selling tickets for this upcoming event on the anniversary of MJ‘s death as well as to promote the release of her new book:

Michael Jackson’s mother has posted a video on YouTube welcoming the King of Pop’s fans to an upcoming celebration of the star’s life in Beverly Hills. Katherine Jackson briefly thanks the singer’s loyal followers for their support and insists her late son would be “very honored and pleased” his devotees are coming together to commemorate the first anniversary of his death. She says, “We all love you.” The tribute to the King of Pop will take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Saturday, June 26.

To be honest, something about this video just doesn’t jibe with me. It’s clear that Katherine has been put up to make this video to promote this upcoming memorial event and the release of the book and, I gotta say, it doesn’t feel genuine in its sincerity. It has been suggested that Katherine is being used by her business partner Howard Mann and IMHO this video seems to be proof that this man has a lot of influence over her. I dunno … the video just seems … wrong. What do y’all think?

"It has been a daily battle to cope with our huge loss."
Katherine Jackson Speaks, Her First Interview Since Michael Jackson’s Death

Katherine Jackson, matriarch of the famed Jackson family, is speaking publicly for the first time — since the sudden death of her son Michael Jackson shocked the world just about a year ago on June 25 — in a new interview with the British tabloid newspaper The Daily Mirror. It should be clarified that Katherine‘s interview is meant the promote a new book that she has published titled Never Can Say Goodbye which is an intimate look at MJ‘s life in photos culled together by Katherine herself. Here are a few excerpts from Katherine‘s new interview with The Daily Mirror:

The world remembers its biggest superstar… and three children mourn the father they adored. Nearly one year on from the death of Michael Jackson, his mother Katherine talks today for the first time about bringing up his daughter and two sons – and how the family still struggle with their private grief. His daughter Paris, 12, has turned her bedroom into a shrine to her “Daddy”, where she is surrounded by his photographs. And his boys Prince, 13, and eightyear-old Blanket bravely talk about wanting to make him proud – and then lapse into silent moments, when they are missing him. All three spend hours listening to their father’s hits. Katherine says: “They don’t have any friends. They don’t go to school, they have private lessons at home – but that will change in September, when they are due to enrol at private college. But they have their cousins and aunts and uncles around them constantly, and that’s helped them immensely. “To them, it’s normal, it’s the life they have known. They have a certain time to go to bed, then they get up and get dressed for lessons. They practise karate and swim, which they love. It is 80-year-old Katherine’s first interview since her son died of suspected cardiac arrest at his Beverly Hills home on June 25 last year. “Each one of them is like Michael in a certain way,” she says. “It has been a daily battle to cope with our huge loss” … It is his daughter, she reveals, who is showing real musical talent – and who expresses her sadness in the most poignant way. “I wanted to hang pictures of flowers or ballerinas in Paris’s room, the sort of things I expected a girl would like,” Katherine says. “But she went into a closet and she brought out seven or eight pictures of Michael, and she told me, ‘No, I want daddy hanging in my room’. So she goes to bed looking at him and wakes up looking at him. She said, ‘I always want to be able to see him’. Paris has that lovely way, just like him, and I see his talent in her. Whatever she does, she is very good at it. She’s a good artist, she plays the piano and she wants to be an actress. Prince is serious about a lot of things. He wants to be a camera-man or produce movies. “He is dedicated to that, like Michael was. And Blanket is very playful, like Michael was” … recently Katherine’s husband Joe – accused of being a brutal father – claimed that she was to blame for Michael’s death, because she refused to tell him to change his lifestyle. Michael would have listened to her if she had intervened, Joe complained, because he was a mummy’s boy. Katherine always kept her own counsel, but she has compiled a book of family pictures and anecdotes that, she says, will tell the truth about Michael and, hopefully, silence the malicious gossip.

“Michael was so misunderstood,” she says. “I treasure my memories of him and wanted to share them with his fans in my book. I remember when he brought gifts for me – a watch, a necklace and a ring. I’ll never forget how he smiled when I opened each one. He was so generous. I want the world to know that real Michael Jackson – a loving person. “Many doubt that, because of the child molestation accusation falsely laid on him, but in truth it was just greedy people after money. The first child, Jordan Chandler, whose father accused Michael, ended up saying he regretted not getting a chance to say sorry to Michael. Then the father committed suicide – I think his conscience was bothering him.” One year on, with Michael’s doctor Conrad Murray facing charges of involuntary manslaughter, Katherine also says she has never accepted that her son died of natural causes. “He was too young for that. I heard from people that he was taking prescription drugs but I never saw my son in any way drugged… he was always himself. If I could see him again, I would want to know one thing, ‘Who did this to you?’” … Now, they are preparing to gather again – this time sombrely at Michael’s grave, in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Los Angeles, for his own poignant anniversary. It has been, Katherine says, a year of such sorrow, demanding extraordinary strength from the family … Katherine says: “I hope that the next year will be better for us all. Michael’s death brought us closer and I want us to be even closer still. I know Michael would have wanted that, too.”

While it is very interesting to hear from mama Katherine herself, this interview (which can be read in full HERE) doesn’t really shed that much light on any new information. She did reveal that the kids will be going to school for the first time ever this September, I sincerely hope it is a smooth transition for each of them. In case you’re interested, Katherine‘s book Never Can Say Goodbye can be ordered from THIS official Jackson website.

So … what do y’all think of this new interview? Do any of y’all find it interesting or insightful?

Murray pleads 'Not Guilty' to Involuntary Manslaughter
Dr. Conrad Murray Is Charged In The Death Of Michael Jackson

At long last, authorities in charge of the Michael Jackson Death Investigation have charged MJ‘s personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray in his death. Murray showed up at court today, as did members of the immediate Jackson family, to face a charge of Involuntary Manslaughter in regards to MJ‘s sudden death last Summer. Here are photos of Dr. Murray, Katherine Jackson (MJ‘s mother) and La Toya Jackson (MJ‘s older sister) arriving at court and deets of the just launched criminal trial proceedings:

Nearly eight months after Michael Jackson died suddenly, his personal physician was charged Monday with involuntary manslaughter for providing him with a powerful anesthetic that was ruled a major factor in his death. The filing of the charges capped an investigation that revealed Mr. Jackson’s heavy reliance on narcotics, including propofol, an anesthetic normally used in surgery but administered to Mr. Jackson, 50, as a sleep aid. The doctor, Conrad Murray, a cardiologist with offices in Houston and Las Vegas, had acknowledged giving Mr. Jackson the drug shortly before the singer was found unconscious on June 25 in a rented mansion here, according to police affidavits. The coroner determined that Mr. Jackson had died from “acute propofol intoxication,” combined with other sedatives. Dr. Murray, 56, who arrived in Los Angeles last week trailed by paparazzi, has maintained through his lawyer that nothing he gave Mr. Jackson should have caused his death. If convicted, he faces a possible maximum four-year state prison term. Dr. Murray arrived at the Airport Courthouse here shortly before his arraignment was scheduled to begin, at 1:30 p.m. Pacific time, escorted by lawyers and sheriff’s deputies and without handcuffs. At least 24 television trucks and journalists yammering in a multitude of languages were awaiting his arrival, along with a smattering of fans, some bearing signs “Justice for Michael.” A Jackson impersonator did his moves, sometimes prompted, sometimes not. About an hour earlier, some members of the Jackson family had arrived in S.U.V.’s. Mr. Jackson’s father, Joseph — in sunglasses, a black suit and fedora, and red tie — paused by the curb, waiting for the others. Jermaine Jackson, the singer’s brother, and his wife, Halima Rashid, held hands as they walked toward the doors, followed by his sister, La Toya, in a bright pink blazer. The family members were escorted by five sheriff’s deputies, who then clustered by the entrance as they funneled in. The charge came after a week of negotiations between Dr. Murray’s lawyers and prosecutors that one of his lawyers said bogged down over whether Dr. Murray should be handcuffed and arrested, as opposed to surrendering at a courthouse in a more low-key way … Dr. Murray, according to police affidavits, was administering propofol to Mr. Jackson — the singer called it his “milk” — to help him sleep on the morning of June 25. Dr. Murray said he left the room for approximately two minutes to make a telephone call and found Mr. Jackson had stopped breathing when he returned. Efforts to revive Mr. Jackson at the house and a hospital were not successful, and the investigation of his death quickly focused on the drugs he was taking. Dr. Murray had no previous brush with celebrity until he began working as Mr. Jackson’s personal physician in May, after meeting him through an acquaintance in Las Vegas. He was promised $150,000 a month and had planned to accompany Mr. Jackson on his comeback tour, 50 concerts in London that were scheduled for July 2009 through next month.

This charge of Involuntary Manslaughter sounds about right to me. As I said before, I sincerely doubt that Dr. Murray intended to kill Michael Jackson. While it will be up to a jury of his peers to determine if he is guilty of his crime, I still believe that MJ‘s death was not intentional. This court case is bond to be a media circus … especially since Michael Jackson is so well-known. After the jump, find out what TMZ has discovered from the final coroner’s report relating to MJ‘s death and see what sort of evidence Dr. Murray is up against in this case against him …

Ladies night
Katherine & La Toya Jackson Step Out For Dinner

Here are a couple photos of mama Katherine Jackson and daughter La Toya Jackson making their grand exit from a Thai restaurant in Beverly Hills, CA last night:

I believe the lady Jacksons were in attendance at the Dancing with the Stars taping yesterday that paid tribute to the late Michael Jackson and it looks like they went straight from the studio to the restaurant. We rarely see Katherine out and about enjoying herself … so I think it’s nice that she stepped out. You can just tell that La Toya LOVES bathing in the flashbulbed attention of the paparazzi … oy! The Jacksons are more popular than ever before … it’s a shame all this attention had to be bought with a death in the family ;(
