Kanye West posted a new post on his official blog to publicly deny claims that he is willing to star in a pornographic film, even if it means “appearing” with other men in the vid. The claims stemmed from an anonymous post published on the site AllHipHop.com (which has since been removed) that claimed that Kanye gave an interview to David Watts and explained that he would be open to appearing in porn. He was reportedly quoted as saying:

“I know people will find that as another thing to hate me on, but fuck it. I’m open to doing porn. Hell, I’ll even do bisexual scenes – myself, another man and a woman, or just me and two women. I know people will find that as some weird but I am who I am.”

After this quote made its way around the Internets, Kanye finally caught wind of it and immediately posted a message on his blog to deny the quote came from him. Here is the full text of Kanye‘s denial … as always all spelling & grammatical errors (and obnoxious CAPS) are his own:

Um, OK. I have to say, I had a bit of respect for the chap when I thought the comments were from him. Not that I approve or would even want to see a porno with Kanye West in it … but I thought it was really cool of him to be so open and honest. I even bought the bit about him being cool about “performing” with another man. Again, not an image that I want to dwell on but, still, I was impressed. I suppose it was too good to be true for Kanye to be this open about something like this. Honestly, I think he took the news of this rumor very well … I’ve read previous posts where he really went off on much less controversial matters. Mebbe he’s not so against a career in porn after all? What do y’all think … should Kanye West take up porn?

Last night the American Music Awards were handed out on live TV at the Nokia Theater here in Los Angeles, CA. Stars of varying importance made their way into downtown LA last night to walk the red carpet, participate in the show or mug for the cameras in the press room afterward. Chris Brown was one of the night’s big winners … Kanye West was one of the night’s biggest wieners … and Beyoncé, bless her heart, gave the best live performance of the night. Chris Brown was the big winner at the American Music Awards on Sunday night, surprising himself most of all. “I don’t know what to say. I would have given it to Coldplay,” said Brown, who won artist of the year, male pop/rock artist and male soul/R&B artist. Kanye West, still sore at losing male rap/hip-hop artist last year, won the trophy this time – then said Lil Wayne deserved it more. “I want to give this award to Wayne,” he said. “If it was last year it would have been my award.” It was West’s second trophy of the night, following his win for rap/hip-hop album, for Graduation. “It’s our responsibility as musicians to push music to the point it was in the ’60s and ’70s,” he said. “I want to be Elvis.” Host Jimmy Kimmel, who had made West’s ego a running joke, quipped: “Elvis died on the toilet with half a jelly doughnut in his mouth. You may want to rethink that.”

Um, why does Kanye have to be so douchey? I mean, seriously. It’s like he just cannot stop himself from acting like a total a-hole on the public stage. I just don’t get it.

The show climaxed with Keys performing “Superwoman” with Queen Latifah and opera star Kathleen Battle, and ending with a large photo projected on a screen of incoming first lady Michelle Obama. In a big night for American Idol alums, Daughtry – winner of three trophies last year – picked up another this year for pop/rock group, while former Idol champ Jordin Sparks won for adult contemporary music, and Carrie Underwood won for country album for Carnival Ride. Taylor Swift, uncomfortably sharing L.A.’s Nokia Theatre auditorium with ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas, won for female country artist, and Rihanna got two awards for pop/rock female artist and female soul R&B artist … Music’s A-listers were out in force as the show featured blockbuster performances by Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, Rihanna, West, birthday girl Miley Cyrus and Jonas Brothers, who also won the breakthrough artist award. And Justin Timberlake made a surprise appearance to introduce award of merit recipient Annie Lennox.

Much congrats to all the winners this year but, I gotta say, the “prestige” associated with winning an American Music Award seems to have diminished a bit — after all, the soundtrack to the movie Alvin and the Chipmunks took home an award last night.

On Friday we learned that Kanye West was arrested in the UK after being involved in an altercation with a paparazzo in Newcastle but ended up being released from police custody without having any charges brought against him … which, of course, meant that he had to blog about the whole incident on his official blog in his own special way. Here is the full text of Kanye‘s pap-blasting blogpost in its entirety (all grammatical and spelling errors [and CAPS] are his own):

I DIDN’T ASSAULT HIM BUT MERELY PUTTING MY HAND UP TO COVER HIS LENS. MY SECURITY YELLED, “GET THE CAMERA OFF HIM.” I GUESS IN ALL THE COMMOTION THE CAMERA SCRAPED HIS NOSE.

THREE HOURS LATER I GET A KNOCK AT MY HOTEL DOOR. THERE WERE FIVE POLICE OFFICERS IN FRONT OF MY ROOM AND I HAD NO IDEA WHY. I HAD MY SECURITY GO SPEAK WITH THEM. THE COPS WERE VERY CORDIAL BUT TOLD ME THEY HAD TO ARREST ME BECAUSE A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THAT WAS THE BOGUS PART. THEY PLACED ME IN HANDCUFFS AND DROVE ME TO THE STATION. THEY SPOKE ABOUT HOW THIS WAS OBVIOUSLY A PUBLICITY STUNT BY THE PHOTOGRAPHER BUT THEY STILL HAD TO GO THOUGH THE MOTIONS. WHEN I GOT BACK TO THE HOTEL THERE WERE PAPARAZZI HANGING OVER THE BRIDGE ABOVE THE HOTEL TRYING TO GET A SHOT OF ME GETTING OUT THE POLICE VAN. EVEN THOUGH I WASN’T CHARGED, THE DAMAGE WAS DONE. SURE ENOUGH THE NEXT MORNING, PLASTERED ACROSS EVERY MEDIA OUTLET… KANYE GETS ARRESTED. IT DIDN’T MATTER THAT I WASN’T CHARGED OR THE FACT THAT I HADN’T ASSAULTED ANYONE. ALL THAT MATTERED WAS THAT I WAS ARRESTED.

SIDEBAR, THEY QUOTED ME AS SAYING…”GET THE CAMERA OFF HIM!” LIKE I WAS TALKING IN THIRD PERSON. HE TRIED TO MAKE ME SOUND LIKE A CRAZY PERSON AND PEOPLE BELIEVED HIM. WHAT MERIT DOES THIS GUY HAVE THAT HE CAN SAY SOMETHING ABOUT ME AND PEOPLE TAKE IT AS LAW? THE FACT THAT HE COULD GET ME ARRESTED OFF A MERE COMPLAINT BUT I CAN’T ASK HIM TO STOP TAKING PICTURES OF ME IS VERY LOPSIDED.

WHO’S WINNING, ME OR THE MEDIA?

While Kanye does make some valid points, he doesn’t seem to understand that being such a high profile public person makes him fair game for scrutiny when he is out in public. That, by no means, should suggest that the paparazzi has a right to do “whatever it takes” to get a photo but it does mean that he should expect that the multi-millions that he enjoys comes at a price. He may not want to the attention now (that he is far too rich to ever need to worry about working for a living ever again) but that wasn’t always the case … back when he was trying to make a name for himself, I don’t recall him ever railing against the media attention then. In the end, I’m sure that there are many photogs that take things too far and go over the line in the act of trying to take the “money shot” photo but as long as Kanye West (and other celebs) market their fame and celebrity to increase their wealth, they’re gonna hafta deal with the scrutiny … their wealth and fame is all the permission that the public needs to scrutinize them.

Word out of the UK today is that Kanye West was arrested on assault charges in Newcastle early this morning after ALLEGEDLY whippin’ a paparazzo’s ass. You may recall that Kanye got into a similar altercation with the paps at LAX airport in SoCal back in September … but no charges came from that incident. Well, guess what … no charges came from this latest incident either:

Oh dear, Kanye West’s been a naughty boy. Allegedly. The rapper was arrested in Newcastle early this morning for assaulting a photographer outside a nightclub. Kanye had been partying at Tup Tup in the city, but left the club just after 1am. Photographer Terry Blackburn claims to have suffered cuts and bruises after Kanye pushed his camera into his face and shouted at him. He was then arrested at the Hilton Hotel but released without charge.

And so … Kanye West is, once again, free to ALLEGEDLY beat the ass of any photog that strikes his fancy. Meh. I guess it comes with the territory. Who knows how long Kanye will be able to get away with assaulting paps around the world but my guess is that he’s going to keep enjoying the practice for as long as he can.

Kanye West went and got himself busted by the popo at LAX Airport yesterday morning when the irritable Hip-Hop star was trying to get the hell out of LA. Kanye and an overzealous bodyguard didn’t take too kindly to being photographed by the paparazzi so they each decided to snatch the cameras out of the photog’s hands and smash them into the ground, breaking them into many pieces. Once Kanye realized that he was being videotaped by TMZ, he tried to snatch that camera away so he could smash that one too … fortunately for the TMZ dude, the cops interceded before he could snatch away the camera. Kanye tried to run, the TMZ dude alerted the police … and Kanye ended up getting his butt arrested:

A still photographer was trying to take pics of Kanye at the American Airlines terminal. According to our guy on the scene, Kanye allegedly confronted the photog and smashed his camera to the ground. Our photog then began videotaping the scene when Kanye’s bodyguard grabbed our camera — a struggle ensued and the bodyguard threw the video camera to the ground, breaking it. When Kanye realized our camera guy had videotaped the incident, he rushed our guy and yelled, “Gimme that fucking tape!” Both Kanye and his bodyguard have been arrested and will be booked.

It didn’t take long for both Kanye West and his bodyguard to be released from custody … but it wasn’t a quick enough process that Kanye was able to catch his flight, oops:

I mean … chill out, dude. Either Kanye West isn’t a morning person or he’s really not into the whole celebrity thing … contrary to his ever-boastful nature. Kanye West brought his Glow in the Dark Tour back to Madison Square Garden in NYC this week and ended up giving the audience an almost 5-minute exposition on tolerance. Kanye has previously spoken out against the use of discriminatory and homophobic words in rap music (and in rap culture overall) and used this latest opportunity to expound on those beliefs a little further. Here is a rough translation of Kanye‘s speech (provided by Andy Towle of Towleroad):

“Open your fucking minds. Open your minds. Be accepting of different people and let people be who they are. You know how many people came to me calling me gay cause I wear my jeans the fresh way? Or because I said hey, dude, how you gonna say ‘fag’ right in front of a gay dude’s face and act like that’s ok. That shit is disrespectful. Coming from Chicago, where if you saw somebody that was gay you were supposed to stay ten feet away. It should be time to break out of the intuitions that I was sayin’, the steretypes, or the fear, the backlash that I would get if you don’t believe in what I believe in, acceptin’ people for who they are…they’re very talented and if they do something special in the world and they’re discriminated. I’ve flown across the world y’all, and I’ve come back here to tell you — open your minds and live a happier life…”

I must say, I am very impressed with Kanye West and his stance against homophobia. Don’t get me wrong, I usually find the man overly cocky and far too full of himself but I am impressed with his devotion to standing up for beliefs that are, in all honesty, very unpopular in his music culture.
