Last week Kanye West released a music video for his new single All of the Lights featuring Rihanna and Kid Cudi on guest vocals. Apparently all of the flashing lights in that video caused complaints because it, apparently, triggered epileptic seizures in some viewers. As a result, Kanye has released a second video for the song that, apparently, features less flashing lights … so as not to induce seizures in anyone watching. Last night, a summit of two of the most powerful men in the music world came together for a possible musical collaboration that could possibly change the landscape of the arts. Well, actually, it was a summit of one and a half of the most powerful men in the music world and their possible collaboration could turn out to be a flash in the pan. Whatever the case may be, the fact remains … Kanye West and Justin Bieber got together in the studio this week … and Kanye tweeted about it last night.

Kanye West has unleashed a new music video for his new single All Of The Lights. The track features vocals by Rihanna and Kid Cudi and without question, is my fave song on his album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. An unfinished version of Kanye West‘s latest music video for his new single Monster has leaked its way to the Internets. The clip, which is making the rounds today, features guest appearances by Jay-Z and Nicki Minaj … and a slew of dead models. Because the clip is unfinished, there are still scenes in the clip that need to be edited … but this leaked work in progress gives us a good understanding of what Kanye is going for in the music video.

With only weeks left of 2010 the annual barrage of Lists of the year’s best music, movies, books, etc. are on the way … and Rolling Stone magazine are getting the party started with the release of their list of the Top 30 Albums of the Year. What is of most interest to me is the Top 10 Albums … particularly, their choice of Album of Year. This year, RS has determined that the best album of 2010 is Kanye West‘s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy:

With My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Kanye West made music as sprawlingly messy as his life. When he wasn’t feuding with Matt Lauer or bugging out on Twitter, Kanye was building hip-hop epics, songs full of the kind of grandiose gestures that only the foolish attempt and only the wildly talented pull off. The more he piled on — string sections, Elton John piano solos, vocoder freakouts, Bon Iver cameos, King Crimson and Rick James samples — the better the music got. Never has Kanye rhymed so hilariously (“Have you ever had sex with a pharaoh?/I put the pussy in a sarcophagus”) or been so insightful about his relationship-torpedoing faults. From the bracing prog-rock of “Power” to the spooky grandeur of “Runaway” to the shape-shifting “Hell of a Life,” he made all other music seem dimmer and duller. Is the album dark? Sure. Twisted? Of course. But above all, it’s beautiful.

As much as it pains me to agree, Kanye‘s album is truly one of the best releases of the year. Expect to see Fantasy top many Top 10 lists this year and expect to see it featured in many more lists, even if it’s not at the top. Kanye West may act like a douche of epic proportions most of the time but there is no denying that he is incredibly talented. It’s a shame his antics make people shy away from liking his music because if he didn’t act like an ass all of the time, he’d enjoy a lot more love from a lot more people.

Back in September MTV threw its biggest party of the year here in SoCal at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. Last night, MTV threw its second biggest party of the year in Madrid, Spain at the 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards. Last month we got our first look at the allegedly “banned” album artwork for Kanye West‘s new album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and today we learn that that artwork has been replaced! Yes, folks, it would appear that Kanye was “banned” after all. As you may recall, the original art featured a painting of a naked Kanye with a naked female winged creature straddling his leg … that art has been replaced with this new artwork:

According to Amazon, the listing for Kanye‘s album, due out on November 22, has been updated with this new album art and the following tracklisting:

Yesterday afternoon, Kanye West took to his official Twitter profile to vent his frustration over new controversy surrounding the album artwork for his new album titled My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. According to Kanye, his record company expressed concerns over the album art he wants to use for his latest release … album art which he immediately labeled as “banned in the USA”. LMAO!! Firstly, I have to laugh at Kanye‘s comment about “commercialization” … especially since Mr. West has made a fortune commercializing everything he can get his hands on … but I digress. It turns out that Kanye‘s album art wasn’t “banned” by anyone, apparently he was cautioned by his record label that using the art would cause problems with the actual commercialization of the album because retailers like Wal-Mart have a policy about not selling albums with parental advisory stickers on them. Earlier this month Detroit’s own Eminem and his Brooklyn BFF Jay-Z played a set of stellar concerts at Comerica Park in Detroit, MI on the first leg of the Home and Home Tour and last night Em and Jay played the first of two shows on the second leg of the tour at the new Yankee Stadium in NYC, NY. In Detroit, Jay-Z played first while Eminem closed out the show. In NYC, Em took to the stage first … here are a few photos from his performance last night:

While I was not able to be in attendance last night, I am quite sure that Eminem put on a stellar performance in NYC last night. He was absolutely phenomenal in Detroit a couple of weekends ago and gave THE best performance at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night. As for Jay-Z, well, since he was on his home turf he really turned it out. Jay brought out a few friends to perform with him during his set last night.
