Earlier this week we learned that Justin Gaston, 20-year old underwear model and manfriend to 16-year old Miley Cyrus, is featured in the new issue of VMan magazine and altho we got to see his fairly interesting photos, JG‘s interview with the mag was not yet available. VMan has since published their interview with the pretty boy model online and, as you might expect, Miley Cyrus‘s name comes out of his mouth pretty much every other sentence. In fact, the article is titled Meet Mr. Miley, natch:

Every tween across America has heard the name Justin Gaston, usually prefaced by the phrase “spotted with.” The Pineville, Louisiana, native is the boyfriend of teenage superstar Miley Cyrus, aka Hannah Montana (though neither has ever officially confirmed the relationship). He’s 20 and she’s 16, which might seem a bit scandalous, but they claim to be chaste. They go to church together and are both Christians. And father Billy Ray Cyrus approves. Actually, Billy Ray introduced the couple. While Gaston has been modeling since he was 17, last summer he scored a spot on Nashville Star, the country-music version of American Idol (Billy Ray is the show’s equivalent of Ryan Seacrest). Justin didn’t win the competition, but he did hit it off with papa Cyrus. After Gaston headed back to L.A., the two stayed in touch via text message, and Gaston was soon brought into the family fold. What’s it like being an aspiring 20-year-old in the shadow of a teen sensation? “I look up to her,” says Justin. “It’s nice to have someone there who already knows what’s going on. It helps you plan your next steps.” As with everything he says, Gaston is completely sincere. He can truly be described as a nice guy—and “nice” is exactly what he likes about Miley. “In a girl, I want someone who’s really genuine,” he says. “Someone attractive, but more just really nice.” In the background, Miley interrupts with a quote from the Bible. “Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” “That’s true, that’s true,” he agrees. Gaston sees music as his future. He will continue modeling and perhaps pursue acting, but he spends most of his time right now writing and singing. And Miley wants to help. “I just got a studio for my birthday,” she shouts after taking the phone. “And I got him a guitar for Christmas. It’s really cool that I can hang out with him and he can help me and I can help him. It’s awesome, really fun. My goal is to become one of the most-wanted producers of 2010, so we have a whole year to get really, really good.”

LOLOLOL! First, I love that Miley was listening in the background during his interview so that she could chime in whenever she wanted. Second, the fact that Billy Ray Cyrus is the one responsible for his 16-year old daughter dating a 20-year old man who practically lives in their home … I mean, wow! I would not be surprised AT ALL if Miley ends up pulling a Bristol Palin. Just wait and see.

Yesterday we saw the first photos from Justin Gaston‘s new photospread in the new issue of VMan magazine … and it is my great pleasure to inform y’all that there is more than just protruding bulge to behold from this particular shoot. In a brief interview with the mag, Gaston refrains from talking specifics concerning the nature of his relationship with the much younger Cyrus but he does admit that he admires the lass … for the mere fact that she has more experience than he does … er, in showbiz. HMMM. Additionally, Justin Gaston features in two photos within the pages of the new issue of VMan, both of which prominently display his bulging crotch … like this:

Justin Gaston, best known for his starring role as Miley Cyrus’ 20-year-old “Bust It Baby,” is one of the fashionistos fondling his privates for the Spring 2009 issue of VMAN Magazine. The former underwear model has yet to publicly clarify his relationship status with the Disney star, but he does praise the teen’s influential role in his life during his chat with the style mag: “I look up to her,” Justin says. “It’s nice to have someone there who already knows what’s going on. It helps you plan your next steps.” In layman’s terms: “I’m totally doing it with her!”

MMM HMMM. I’m not sure how much exaggeration or padding is going on here … if any at all … but I must admit there is some appeal to a photo like this. Now, I personally think the relationship between Miley and Justin goes one of two ways. Either the pair are totally celibate and, like good Christian children, are saving themselves for marriage (or possibly JG is trying to pull off a Rock Hudson and is using Miley for cover?) OR they are doing it like jackrabbits. I must confess that the second notion only grosses me out ENTIRELY but, then again, would YOU be able to have access to this bod and NOT partake? Miley Cyrus has finally spoken up about that controversial photo that shows her and her friends (20-year old manfriend Justin Gaston, included) seemingly mocking Asian eye features and offers her perspective on the entire matter. In a message sent to a Miley Cyrus fansite, Miley tries to explain away the photo by claiming that she was merely making “goofy faces” and that the intent of the photo has been “taken out of context” by the people offended by it. Nowhere in her message to fans (which also addresses those paparazzi photos that featured her wardrobe malfunction) does she offer an apology for the photo, she is just “sorry” that people have taken it out of context and she mentions that she has apologized in the past when she has made mistakes … implying that she did nothing wrong in this instance. Here is the full text of Miley‘s message to fans (all spelling and grammatical errors are her own) along with TWO offending photos (apparently taken on the same night) of Miley “goofing around” with her friends:

Hey guys! Just wanted to give you a quick update on whats going on in my life! Im still in Nashville, but Im heading back to LA tomorrow! Taylor and I rehearse together tomorrow in Nashville before the Grammys on Sunday! That is going to be so much fun! Ive had such a good time being home hanging out with my friend Lesley and just chillin’ out!

Its good to get away from it ALL every now and then! I couldnt of planned a better week to come back to Nashville! I cant believe all of the silly STUFF that has been put out in the press this week! It really makes me sad that people want to tear other people down just for the sake of magazine sells and hits on websites! Unfortunately, it seems like BAD is what sells!

As for the shot of me taken outside of a dressing room, I wasnt aware that some creepy paparazzi was able to get a picture of me from where I was in the store. When did it become so out of control, that I cant come out of a dressing room to show my sister a shirt Im trying on? It seems to me there needs to be better laws and more boundaries on these photographers!

Ive also been told there are some people upset about some pictures taken of me with friends making goofy faces! Well, Im sorry if those people looked at those pics and took them wrong and out of context!

In NO way was I making fun of any ethnicity! I was simply making a goofy face. When did that become newsworthy? It seems someone is trying to make something out of nothing to me. If that would of been anyone else, it would of been overlooked! I definitely feel like the press is trying to make me out as the new ‘BAD GIRL’!

I feel like now that Britney is back on top of her game again, they need someone to pick on! Lucky me! haha Anyway, I just wanted to let you guys know what is on my heart. You guys know me and have been by my side every step of the way!

You guys know my heart and know the most important things to me are my friends, family, fans, and GOD! In NO WAY do I want to disappoint any of you! But, when I have made mistakes in the past, I feel like Ive owned up to them and apologized.

Anyway, I really wish everyone would stop focusing on my personal life and get back to focusing on what I love! Music

You will note that the tone of this message implies that Miley Cyrus sees nothing wrong with what she did. It is very true that she may not have intended harm by her actions but, firstly, that is no excuse and secondly, I’d think she’d have the mental ability (and the PR team) to tell her that other people might be offended and an apology might be in order. I honestly believe that a public apology would go a long way to inform impressionable kids that what she did is WRONG and should not be condoned, explained away or emulated. She does apologize if YOU have taken the photos out of context, tho. That is about as far as she goes. She asks since when does “making a goofy face” become newsworthy. My reply is that “making a goofy face” becomes newsworthy when a public figure is photographed making a “goofy face” that offends billions of people on the planet — just like it was newsworthy when the Spanish Olympic basketball team was photographed making the same “slant eye” gestures for their team photo before they went to China for the Olympics. If she were merely sticking out her tongue (like she often does) or pursing her lips then that sort of “goofy faced” behavior is not newsworthy. Pulling your eyes back at a slant with a bunch of your Caucasian friends at the expense of your sole Asian friend in the photo becomes insulting and “newsworthy”. She claims if it had been “anyone else” than “it would have been overlooked”. True, I’m sure there are many insensitive people in the world who have no problem mocking and making fun of other people. Sadly, right now in the world there are folks calling each other really hurtful names, etc. and those actions will be overlooked. But when you are a very public figure, making millions of dollars from your growing fan base, behavior like that does not and should be overlooked. I absolutely contend that if any other celeb had been photographed doing this same thing, it would’ve still been a big deal. What is MOST TROUBLING in Miley‘s case is that she has influence over YOUNG CHILDREN. If kids learn that this kind of “goofing” around is OK then they will, likely grow up to think that it is “OK” to “joke around” like this (as is evident from the many people who feel that this behavior is “no big deal” and should be laughed off). Finally, I take offense that she feels the need to mention GOD in her message … as if merely reminding people of her Christianity is another reason to excuse her behavior. I can tell you that in my many years of education in the Church (I attended Church faithfully until I was about 18 years old) I was always taught to respect other people and that mocking people in a joking manner is wrong.

In the end, I am now starting to believe that Miley Cyrus really has no idea that her actions are hurtful to others and sees nothing wrong with what she did … and that is the saddest thing of all. That she finds no fault at all with the hurt and pain that her actions cause others is kind of pathetic to me. When I was a teacher, I heard kids say and do some really hurtful things to one another (name calling at its worst) and I used every opportunity to try and explain to those kids what effect their bullying actions might have on others, even if they didn’t mean any harm. Sometimes I was successful and got thru to the kids, other times I was not … that is just a fact of life. I just cannot and will not endorse or rationalize anyone’s offensive behavior, not in any capacity. I just wish that someone had taken Miley aside to try and educate her on the importance of respecting other people. Mebbe if she wasn’t so bizzy focusing on Music and Acting then she might’ve learned those lessons at home or in school. It is my sincere hope that other young, impressionable children do not learn these lessons from her. In my estimation, she is unworthy of being a role model in that capacity.

Late last year we learned that 20-year old underwear model Justin Gaston (who is more famously known for dating 16-year old Miley Cyrus than for his modeling) would be appearing in ads for the Spring/Summer 09 Roberto Cavalli collection along with supermodel Kate Moss. In late December, we got to see Kate and Justin in the first ad released. As you may recall, Kate looked amazing … Justin looked unrecognizable because only his back was featured in the ad. Today, we get to see 3 new ads from the Cavalli campaign — fortunately for Justin, he gets a bit more facetime in these ads:

Well, at least in these ads you can actually tell that Justin Gaston is a model and not just a glorified piece of furniture for Kate Moss to lay on. I’m relieved to know that Justin is capable of making his own money from his modeling gigs … I’m sure the Cyrus family appreciates that fact as well. I’m also relieved that Justin Gaston is capable of doing more than just insulting people by taking photos with his much younger girlfriend and his equally immature friends who all seem to enjoy mocking minorities … glad to know that the guy is at least multifaceted.

OCA, an advocacy group that seeks to “advance the social, political and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans” has issued a statement regarding that offensive photo we saw yesterday of Miley Cyrus, Justin Gaston and friends mimicking Asian features in a seemingly mocking way. The group finds no humor in the photo and expresses its disappointment in the statement. Here is the full text of the statement released by George Wu of OCA:

“The photograph of Miley Cyrus and other individuals slanting their eyes currently circulating the Internet is offensive to the Asian Pacific American community and sets a terrible example for her many young fans. This image falls within a long and unfortunate history of people mocking and denigrating individuals of Asian descent…

…Not only has Miley Cyrus and the other individuals in the photograph encouraged and legitimized the taunting and mocking of people of Asian descent, she has also insulted her many Asian Pacific American fans, said George Wu, executive director of OCA. The inclusion of an Asian Pacific American individual in the photo does not make it acceptable.

OCA hopes that Miley Cyrus will apologize to her fans and the APA community for this lapse in judgment and takes the opportunity to better understand why the gesture is offensive.”

I absolutely agree, as I stated yesterday, I am just as offended and disappointed in this kind of behavior. I’m also very disappointed and saddened to read all the comments on the blog condoning or, at the very least, laughing off this behavior as “it’s only a joke”. For me, the issue isn’t about being PC to a fault, it’s about respect for other people. Making fun of people, even if you think they’re laughing with you, is just wrong … plain and simple. It’s not a “liberal” matter, it’s not a “PC” matter — it’s a common sense matter. Very young children, who are Hannah Montana fans, learn to mimic things they see and hear. Even tho you may not be offended and you may not think it’s a big deal, it is offensive and a very big deal for other people. Making fun of Asian features, calling someone “retarded”, saying “you’re so gay” is offensive — even if you think it’s funny. I feel sorry for the people who think that saying “lighten up” and “get a life” is a way to explain away this sort of hurtful behavior. It would seem that they don’t understand the hurt and pain that this kind of mocking behavior can cause. As I said yesterday, my biggest concern is that young children might see this sort of behavior and feel validated to emulate it because they think it’s funny, since Miley Cyrus does it. If people would just think about the things they say and do at the expense of others, they might realize that what they intend to be funny is actually pretty harmful.

Over the weekend, personal photos of 16-year old Miley Cyrus and her 20-year old manfriend Justin Gaston made their way to the Internets that showed the couple paling around with some friends of theirs. Honestly, none of the photos were very interesting to me … except for one in particular. In some of the photos, a Asian male friend is seen mugging for the camera with Miley and Justin — which is fine. But this photo of Jiley, friends and this compliant male friend appears to show all of the Caucasian kids (and Justin, who is a full grown man) pulling back their eyelids apparently trying to mimic Asian eye features:

I suppose it could be said that these kids (and man) are “just having fun” and prolly don’t intend harm … which may be true BUT, I personally do not think that behavior like this is harmless at all. If children see this sort of thing, particularly from Miley Cyrus who they may look up to, and believe that it is “OK” and “funny” to mock people in this way I really feel they are getting the wrong message. I don’t imagine it’s very fun for Asian children (or adults, for that matter) to be mocked by others who think it’s funny to mimic their eye features. I’m sorry, I personally think it’s bad form. While not surprising (at all) it is very disappointing. I, for one, do not see the humor in a photo like this.

A Miley Cyrus-less Justin Gaston was spotted on the streets of LA yesterday sportin’ a new hair’do … well, not a hair’do exactly, more like his longish hair pulled back into a shabby-lookin’ rat tail … behold:

Meh. I think I prefer JG rockin’ the knit hat with fuzzy ball on it rather than this sad attempt at a pony tail. Seriously, I hope he’s not lookin’ to grow his hair out any longer … I realize that he likes to dress like his younger girlfriend Miley but they don’t have to morph into the same person. The day I see Justin Gaston rockin’ the braids is the day he is dead to me. Hottie or not, some things are simply unforgivable.

Yesterday we saw a few photos of the happily reunited lovebirds Miley Cyrus and Justin Gaston as they stepped out for a bite or frozen yogurt this week. I speculated that it may have been Miley to pay the bill … and that Justin may have to pay in other ways later on. Today, we get to see new pics of Jiley eating together (and more speculation on my part) and of Miley and her step-sister Brandi doing a bit of shopping together in Studio City, CA yesterday:

Oh man, when will Justin Gaston ever learn? Nothing comes free in this world … sooner or later, you have to pay up. Methinks that Jiley have an arrangement that works very well for the both of them. I’m pretty sure that each person is getting something from their relationship. Sure, there may be some “love” involved but I think it goes beyond that. It looks pretty win-win to me. Shoot, I’d leave my wallet at home, too ;)

It’s been about a week since lovebirds Miley Cyrus and Justin Gaston have been seen out together in public (tho, Miley did surface over the weekend to do a pretty photoshoot) but yesterday the pair stepped out on the town together to enjoy a nice frozen yogurt date together … behold:

Aww, Miley is such a good girl. I’m sure JG can always count on her to pick up the check whenever he accidentally leaves his wallet at home ;) Incidentally, Miley was queried by one of the photogs what she thinks of Jessica Simpson (in regards to the photos that came out a couple of days ago showing a much curvier Miss Simpson on the performance stage over the weekend) and Miley reported replied, “I don’t think she’s fat.” HMM. I’m not entirely sure that I believe that Miley used those exact words but it’s nice to see that Miley is lending her support to Jess. I guess it’s also nice to know that Justin doesn’t have to worry his pretty little head with having to carry money on his person.
