Jude Law Plays Soccer With His Children

Well, his "legitimate" children
Monday, November 2nd, 2009

A few weeks ago we saw a cute photo of Jude Law walking his youngest son Rudy and daughter Iris to a museum in NYC and then about a week ago we saw photos of Jude playing with his two sons Rafferty and Rudy in a Manhattan park. This weekend, Jude was spotted kicking around the ol’ soccer ball with all three of his children with ex-wife Sadie Frost … behold:

To my knowledge, I don’t believe that Jude Law has yet made the effort to meet his newest child, a baby girl named Sophia Lee, who was born about a month ago. It’s clear he loves his 3 oldest children very much … even tho he is divorced from their mother. I hope he will, one day soon, realize that his new daughter is just as precious a gift as his other children … irregardless of how he may feel for her mother. It’s just a bummer to see Jude so playful with his “legitimate” children when he has a month old newborn baby daughter who has yet to meet him.

Jude Law Plays With His Sons In NYC

On the day the world gets is first look at his new daughter in 'Hello!' mag
Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Yesterday morning the world got its first look at Jude Law’s new daughter Sophia Lee with babymama Samantha Burke but I don’t think that Jude was among the curious folks checking out Hello! magazine to see what the little darling looks like. Jude spent part of his bizzy Monday playing with his sons Rafferty Indiana and Rudy in NYC … very likely paying no attention to the fact that his newborn daughter is featured on the cover of the new issue of Hello!

Jude Law played the hands-on father to sons Rafferty, 13, and Rudy, seven, taking them for a kickabout in the park in New York. And the irony would not be lost on Samantha Burke, the mother of his fourth child, Sophia Lee, now five weeks old, who was unveiled in an interview with Hello! magazine yesterday. While Jude, 36, played happy families with his boys – daughter Iris, nine, is also in the city with her father – Miss Burke has yet to introduce the actor to his new daughter, born as a result of their brief liaison. The model said Law has given no indication that he will visit the baby. ‘There are no plans for it to happen at the moment, but I know he’s busy,’ she said, referring to his current lead role in Hamlet on Broadway. Miss Burke, 25, who had a brief relationship with Law as he made a film in New York, said there had been no contact from the actor, who has three children by ex-wife Sadie Frost.

HMMM … it sure does look like Jude really loves and adores his children … with Sadie Frost. Tho, he doesn’t seem to exhibit the same affinity for his newborn daughter Sophia Lee. While I can understand that he may not be proud of fathering a child from a “one-night stand” liaison, I cannot for the life me imagine how one could so easily discard the birth of a new child. I do hope, for Sophia’s sake, that Jude decides to to meet with his daughter … she sure is a cutie … and I’m sure she’d love to meet her daddy.

Jude Law Walks The Kiddies To The Museum

Well, not all of his kiddies
Friday, October 16th, 2009

Here is a cute pic of proud papa Jude Law taking his children for a fun day at the Children’s Museum of the Arts in NYC, NY yesterday … well, not all of his children mind you. Jude has an older son named Rafferty who didn’t tag along with daddykins and his younger sibs … Jude also has another child born of a fling he had with Samantha Burke, an aspiring actress/model from Florida who just gave birth to their lovechild late last month … but who’s counting?

It looks pretty obvious that Jude is happily devoted to his children … well, these children … and that he was having a great time bonding with them yesterday. It remains to be seen what, if any, kind of relationship he will have with his youngest child borne of his tryst with Burke. While I doubt we’ll be seeing any photos of Jude doting over his newborn babygirl, it’s at least of some relief to see him spend time with his other children.

‘Hamlet’ Opens On Broadway

The reviews are in
Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

The Broadway production of Hamlet, which stars Jude Law and first ran in London’s West End earlier this year and which I got to see in previews last month, officially opened on the Great White Way last night. While there are a couple of very favorable reviews of the show HERE and HERE, there are other reviews that are decidedly … less favorable. Here is a sampling of what some of the theater critics are saying about the show and Jude Law in particular:

To be, or not to be … a hit on Broadway? That is the question Wednesday morning as the reviews come in for Jude Law’s turn as Hamlet in the much-anticipated Broadway turn for the production, which originated in London to acclaim and opened at New York’s Broadhurst Theatre Tuesday night. Reaction is decidedly mixed. “If Hamlet talks about his mind, you can bet that Mr. Law will point to his forehead; when he mentions the heavens, his arm shoots straight up; and when the guy says his gorge rises, rest assured that he clutches at his stomach. If every actor were like Mr. Law, signed performances for the hard of hearing would be unnecessary,” snipes Ben Brantley of The New York Times. “If anything, Law starts out too overwrought, moaning and gnawing through the great soliloquies as if they were causing him intestinal distress,” Time Out New York’s David Cote notes. Others put in much kinder terms. “His Hamlet is no brooding philosopher/prince; he’s an angry young man, a bundle of nerves forever threatening to explode,” raves USA Today’s Elysa Gardner , who considers Law’s soliloquies “both muscular and exquisitely lyrical.” The traditionally acerbic John Simon of Bloomberg News, however, found nothing poetic about Law’s “flashy, frequently jocular and unsubtle” performance in a play “aimed at neophyte audiences lured to the play not only by the star but with the added promise of a thriller liberally sprinkled with yocks.” Time Out New York, which generally lauded Law, was one of many that had a bone to pick with the supporting cast, finding Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s Ophelia ho-hum, and Geraldine James and Ian Drysdale’s Gertrude and Claudius an example of actors taking the phrase “the banality of evil” too literally. Then thank God Jude’s pretty, all critics agreed. Noted The New York Times: “Mr. Law’s undeniable charisma and gender-crossing sex appeal may captivate Broadway theatergoers who wouldn’t normally attend productions of Shakespeare.”

LOL! As much as I loved the show myself, I have to agree with the NY Times critic … I had forgotten that, indeed, Jude mimics physically the words that come out of his mouth … I mean, I’m sure he’s going for emphasis but he does do it for most of the show. In all honesty, I do feel that many of the reviewers who have negative things to say might be speaking from a place where they would be hard pressed to bestow positivity no matter how good an actor like Jude Law is. While I agree that there is some merit to some of the negative reviews, I don’t feel that all of the criticism is very fair. After the jump, check out a few photos of Jude taking his curtain call bows last night at the completion of his official Broadway debut performance and see which celebs made their way to the Broadhurst Theater for opening night …

Jude Law’s Babymama Gives Birth!

Congrats, Jude! It's A Girl!!
Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Samantha Burke, Jude Law’s unfortunate babymama who famously called a press conference at her house to ask for privacy from press intrusion on her private life after she first practically screamed from the rooftops that she is pregs with Law’s baby, has released a statement to the media announcing to the world (and to babydaddy Jude Law) that Samantha and Jude are the proud parents of a bouncing baby girl named Sophia Lee! Here is what Ms. Burke has to say on the joyous birth of her illegitimate child with Mr. Law:

Less than two months after he fessed up that a model he had dated was pregnant with his child, Jude Law is a father – again. A friend of the family tells PEOPLE that Samantha Burke, the 24-year-old aspiring actress whom Law met while filming Sherlock Holmes in New York City last year, gave birth to a daughter Tuesday night. “I doubt Jude was there,” says the source. “Besides the financial support, he’s not involved.” The source adds: “Samantha is doing well” after the birth. Law, 36, who has three other children with ex-wife Sadie Frost, is currently appearing in a Broadway production of Hamlet, now in previews. Law’s rep acknowledged the pregnancy in a statement released last July after reports surfaced in the media that Burke was expecting. “Jude Law can confirm that, following a relationship last year, he has been advised that he is to be the father of a child due in the fall of this year,” the actor’s rep said. “Mr. Law is no longer in a relationship with the individual concerned but he intends to be a fully supportive part of the child’s life. This is an entirely private matter and no other statements will be made.”

I’m relieved to hear that Ms. Burke gave birth to a baby girl but I’m sure she was just a wee bit disappointed … she was prolly expecting an over-stuffed money bag to come shooting out of her womb …

… but, still … a baby girl is deffo worth celebrating, I think! I’m not sure how happy Jude Law is to hear this news but I’m sure that babymama Burke and her little girl are really happy today. Any guesses on how Burke is going to introduce Law to his newborn treasure?

Jude Law Helps Jonny Lee Miller With Baby Duty

But presumable not with "baby doodie"
Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

Here are a few cute pics of Jude Law hanging out with his BFF and fellow actor Jonny Lee Miller as he and another friend took Jonny’s son Buster Timothy out for a stroll in the West Village here in NYC yesterday. As you may recall, Jude is in town to perform Hamlet on Broadway (the show begins previews this week) and it looks like he was spending some of his downtime with his bros … behold:

My guess is that Jude was lookin’ to get reacquainted with baby tips from Jonny now that he’s got a new child on the way … but he prolly should be brushin’ up on his Hamlet, methinks ;) I suppose Jude’s already memorized all of his lines since he just completed his Hamlet run in the West End in England … but still, Broadway’s an entirely different beast. At least it looks like he’s having fun with his bros … and the baby. Hahahahaha … they do make a strange sight, don’t they?
