"Everyone gets fucked with in high school. I was fucked with because I was on TV"
Joseph Gordon-Levitt Does ‘Nylon Guys’ Magazine

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who stars in the Summer blockbuster hit film G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra as well as the indie Summer hit 500 Days of Summer, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Nylon Guys magazine. Here is JGL‘s Nylon Guys cover along with some excerpts from his coverstory interview:

GI Joe and (500) Days of Summer might be total opposites, but in a cool twist of fate, they star the same guy: Joseph Gordon Levitt. The former child star plays a manic war hero and a manic monogamist, respectively, and that alone makes him interesting. Sift in his directorial debut, a short called Sparks, that debuted this year at Sundance, and the 28-year-old becomes positively fascinating. So Stephanie Trong followed him to Subway and interviewed him. Plus, she got free refills of Dr. Pepper. That’s a good day.

On The Internet
“I’m really excited about being alive right now. We have this new ability to communicate that could elevate us.”

On his teen years after 3rd Rock from the Sun
“Everyone gets fucked with in high school. I was fucked with because I was on TV. And I think when you’re not used to that, the world can be pretty harsh… I was probably a bit of a dick [back then]. I mean, not a dick but I had very simplistic and strong feelings about things, and right and wrong.”

Why he majored in French at Columbia
“To be honest, I totally have a fetish for girls who are speaking French – I spend the whole movie turned on… I’m really excited because Marion Cotillard is in [his next movie] Inception. I’m excited to meet her.”

Is Joseph hitting the gym?
“I remember realizing, when I played my part in Mysterious Skin, how much overlap there was between a prostitute and an actor. I was putting a lot of thought into what it would be like to have sex for money. It’s really similar in a lot of ways, because you kind of have to play a role and satisfy your audience. And absolutely have them be attracted to you.”

The entire Nylon Guys interview can be read in the mag but these snippets give us a pretty good idea of the tone of the piece, JGL is cool — we get it ;) After the jump, check out some of the photos from Joesph‘s Nylon Guys photospread and see just how cool he really is …

Joseph Gordon-Levitt's first appearance in a G.I. Joe trailer
Cobra Commander Makes An Appearance In A New ‘G.I. Joe’ Movie Trailer

Back in February we got our FIRST LOOK at Joseph Gordon-Levitt in costume for his role as The Doctor in the upcoming Summer blockbuster film G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. In the film, Gordon-Levitt‘s character The Doctor eventually becomes Cobra Commander … and his appearance has been kept top secret leading up to the release of the film. But, with only a few weeks until the film opens in theaters, it is time to get more acquainted with The Doctor. Here are a few screencaps (and promo pics) from the Japanese trailer for G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra:

I would say about 95% of the Japanese trailer contains footage that we’ve seen in the other trailers that have been released here in the US but this one includes the extra scene of The Doctor standing next to James McCullen (Destro) in the first few seconds of the video. After the jump, if you are so inclined, check out the full Japanese trailer that features for the first time Joseph Gordon-Levitt

It's getting Hot in here
‘Rolling Stone Magazine’ Reveals Its ‘Hot List’ For 2009

On Wednesday we learned that Lady Gaga is featured on the cover of Rolling Stone‘s Hot List issue for 2009 but she is not the only “hot” person/thing featured in the mag. Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been chosen as the Hot Actor, Bat for Lashes has been chosen as the Hot Singer, Rupert Grint (who plays Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films) has been chosen as the Hot Sidekick and the LA band Silversun Pickups has been chosen as the Hot Band. Here are some pics of these hot folks as featured in the mag:

Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been a hot actor for some time but it seems like folks are finally waking up to the fact that he rules … here’s hoping his stint in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra doesn’t undo all of the hard work he’s done over the years. Bat for Lashes has to be one of the most exciting new artists to burst on the scene. While Lady Gaga is trying really hard to stand out and be different, Bat for Lashes is actually standing out and being wonderfully different. Her album rules. Rupert Grint is really a very cool sidekick for Daniel Radcliffe‘s Harry Potter, as anyone familiar with the movies should know. He really brings Ron Weasley to life. You can click HERE to read Rolling Stone‘s thoughts on his awesome sidekickness. After The Oohlas (who are my fave LA band), I’d have to pick the Silversun Pickups as my second fave band. They are so the Mazzy Star/The Sundays alternarock band of the times. I’ve loved every song they’ve ever written … their sound hearkens back to my shoegaze youth and makes the experience feel new all over again. Rolling Stone doesn’t always get the “hot” things right every year but this time, they’ve picked a few winners. Kudos for them for finally gettin’ their fingers on the pulse.

Darkness falls
Joseph Gordon Levitt Does ‘VMan’ Magazine

Joseph Gordon Levitt, who will be appearing in the films 500 Days of Summer and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra this year, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the issue #14 of VMan magazine which is due to hit stands on May 14. Lookin’ all broody and shizz, JGL is featured on a very moody black and white coverphoto … behold:

And there is more moody, broody angst where this came from. JGL‘s VMan photoshoot is entirely black and white and seems to foreshadow the inner darkness that he will portray in his upcoming movies. After the jump, check out a few more photos from his VMan photospread …
