Irish hottie Jonathan Rhys Meyers, who has previous attempted to get clean by checking himself into rehab two previous times, has decided to give it another go … and has reportedly checked himself into a drug rehabilitation program for a third time. If at first you don’t succeed, try and try again:

Irish actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers has reportedly checked into rehab in a bid to kick his drink demons once and for all. According to website Independent.ie, the Tudors star is attending a recovery center in England to deal with his alcohol problem. It would be Meyers’ third attempt at rehab – in 2005, he spent time at Malibu, California’s Promises Clinic in a bid to get sober, and he underwent further treatment in April 2007. However, he suffered a setback in November 2007 when he was arrested at Dublin Airport by Irish police and charged with being drunk and in breach of the peace. It later emerged that Meyers’ mother had died just days before his arrest. The actor has previously spoken out about his battle with drinking, saying, “When I do (drink) I’m like Bambi. I’m all over the place, hopeless, like a 16-year-old kid. People notice.” And an insider on the Tudors show claims producers warned Meyers about his alcohol intake during filming on the program’s upcoming third season. The source says, “He is one of the nicest guys in the world, he’s a pleasure to work with. He has his demons, and he’s trying to cope with them as best he can.”

I think that JRM’s commitment to getting clean and taking control of his health and his life is absolutely commendable. Battling addiction is no easy task and it generally takes more than one try at rehab to really get a handle on one’s addictions. In fact, addicts find that they need to combat their demons on a daily basis. I applaud JRM’s latest attempt to complete a rehab program … and if this one doesn’t take, I hope he tries again and again. Jonathan Rhys Meyers is such an incredibly talented actor … I am really pulling for him to finally get cleaned up … here’s hoping.

Ruh roh … it looks like poor Jonathan Rhys Meyers partied a wee bit too much during last night’s various Golden Globes festivities … the poor lad had to be helped to his car by a kind friend of his, behold:

Yikes … can you imagine what the poor guy might’ve looked like if he had actually won and had cause to celebrate? HMM, I guess he was drowning his sorrows or something. Well, better luck next Awards show, JRM.

Irish actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers was given the Honorary Patronage award from the Trinity College Philosophical Society during a special ceremony in Dublin, Ireland yesterday afternoon. While I’m not entirely clear on what qualified JRM for this honor, you can tell by the look on his face that he was thrilled to be honored so by this award:

Speaking on behalf of the Trinity College Philosophical Society, president Barry Devlin was quoted as saying, “We look for people who we feel represent the spirit and values embodied by former pioneering Irish people like Oscar Wilde. We are delighted to present this award to such a list of diverse and talented individuals such as Jonathan Rhys Myers.” At least JRM was able to control his ecstatic glee long enough to pose for these photos. Er, yes, I guess congrats are in order as well.

Earlier this week we saw pics of Jonathan Rhys Meyers making his way to the set of his hit Showtime series The Tudors wearing a gold filigreed Elizabethan costume … today, JRM has totes outdone himself:

Okay … so I know that Jonathan Rhys Meyers was prolly dressed in costume on his way to film scenes as Henry VIII for his Showtime series The Tudors … but these two pics of the lad in his golden finery immediately had me thinking about a few other possible reasons for his being dressed in this way:

1.) He was late for his shift at Medieval Times
2.) He wanted to see if one could really make an outfit out of an old comforter
3.) He forgot to pick up his dry cleaning; had to wear the only clean thing in his closet

Any other ideas?
