‘Marley & Me’ Premieres In Hollywood

Jennifer Aniston, Owen Wilson and gads of other celebs made their way out to the Mann Village Theater in Westwood, CA (the site of the LA premiere of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button earlier this week) for the Hollywood premiere of their new movie Marley & Me. Once on the red carpet, the topic turned from this dog movie to the subject of Jen‘s sexy GQ coverphoto … which Jen claims isn’t meant to make a statement … it is what it is:

Looking stunning and dressed for the occasion, provocative cover girl Jennifer Aniston worked the red carpet with costar Owen Wilson at Thursday’s Los Angeles premiere of their comedy Marley and Me, at the Mann Village Theater in Westwood. Summing up the film’s universal appeal – Marley is a tale about a dog – Aniston, 39, called it “a true story, about a family and their life.” With nearly everyone also interested in the tale behind Aniston’s new eye-opening GQ cover, the star was asked what sort of message she was trying to send by wearing nothing more than a necktie for the magazine. She replied, with a laugh: “I wasn’t trying to make any kind of statement!” Aniston’s boyfriend, John Mayer, did have something to say, on the other hand. Arriving about 10 minutes before Aniston and Wilson, the musician told reporters that he was there to “support my girl.” Meanwhile, Marley costars Eric Dane and Alan Arkin also spoke up – in support of Aniston’s GQ pose. “I’m going to renew my subscription,” said Dane. “”She always looks fabulous, she will look fabulous at 50.”

LOL … I think that fabulous at 50 comment was meant as a compliment even tho it kinda doesn’t sound like one. While Brad’s premiere culled together all of the Hollywood A-Listers, Jen could take comfort in the fact that Kristin Cavallari of Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County fame deigned to make an appearance at the event ;) Honestly, I doubt Jen cared who was there as long as she had her boo John Mayer there to lend his support. After the jump, check out a couple photos of Mayerston arm in arm as they made their way out together from the Marley & Me afterparty last night …

Lil' Wayne and Coldplay lead the pack
The 2009 Grammy Award Nominations Have Been Announced

The nominations for the 51st Annual Grammy Awards have been announced at a ceremony in LA yesterday that also featured a celebratory concert with performances by John Mayer, Christina Aguilera and more. As for the noms, there were quite a few surprises — like who didn’t get nominated (*cough* Mariah Carey *cough*) — that should make the award show a very interesting one when it airs next February:

Louisiana rapper Lil Wayne garnered the most Grammy nominations, receiving eight, and British alternative rock band Coldplay grabbed seven as the Recording Academy announced this year’s nominees. Lil Wayne and Coldplay were both nominated for the prestigious album of the year award for the 51st annual Grammy Awards. Nominations were announced during a star-studded, prime-time concert special Wednesday night. Rappers Jay-Z and Kanye West and R&B crooner Ne-Yo received six nominations each. Alison Krauss, John Mayer, Robert Plant, Radiohead and newcomer Jazmine Sullivan received five each. Nominees in six categories were announced during the show that aired on CBS. Mayer, Mariah Carey, the Foo Fighters and Taylor Swift performed for the event. Swift, perhaps surprisingly, didn’t receive a single nomination. Though her albums — her 2006 debut CD and her recently released “Fearless” — weren’t eligible for the competition, she released several hit singles during the Grammy consideration window, which ran from October 2007 to September. And despite a huge hit single — “I Kissed a Girl” — Katy Perry failed to be nominated for best new artist. The singer did earn a nomination for best female pop vocal performance. “I feel very grateful to be recognized by an institution of such iconic musical history. I can’t believe it, but this year I won’t be watching the Grammys in my jammies,” she said in a statement. Newcomer Duffy, who had a big hit with “Mercy,” was nominated for three Grammys, including best new artist. She may have to get used to more attention. In October, she told CNN, “I still feel kind of underground in America, which is quite nice in a way though — to be able to sit around the corner at [a Los Angeles] cafe and have my breakfast.” The album of the year nominees are a diverse group. Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida” continues in the British band’s tradition of making big statements; on the other hand, on “Raising Sand,” old hands Plant and Krauss, working with producer T Bone Burnett, created a haunting, minimalist record that hearkens back to old folk and blues recordings. Longtime critics’ darlings Radiohead hit No. 1 with “In Rainbows,” which was equally distinctive for its initial release as a pay-your-own-price download. (The album was released on CD in January.) Lil Wayne had a commercial breakthrough with “Tha Carter III,” the year’s best-selling album, which featured the No. 1 tune “Lollipop.” Hip-hop artist Ne-Yo’s “Year of the Gentleman” deliberately opted for a brighter sound, he said after the ceremony, according to The Associated Press. “When I was putting it together, I was trying to do something that everybody could get into, as opposed to just my pop and R&B core group,” Ne-Yo said, according to the AP. “I was trying to do something that the world could enjoy, and I think that the Grammy people paid attention to that.” Nominees for record of the year are Adele’s “Chasing Pavements”; Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida”; Leona Lewis’ “Bleeding Love”; M.I.A’s “Paper Planes”; and Plant and Krauss’ “Please Read the Letter.” Song of the year, a songwriters’ award, had five nominees: “American Boy,” popularized by Estelle featuring Kanye West; “Chasing Pavements,” whose hit version was performed by Adele; “I’m Yours,” written and performed by Jason Mraz; “Love Song,” written and performed by Sara Bareilles; and Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida,” written by the band. In some ways, it’s an odd time for the industry to celebrate. CD sales have plunged in the last few years, and music downloads, which continue to rise, have yet to fill the gap. With concert ticket prices often well above $50 a pop and wildly fluctuating gasoline prices, musicians are feeling the pinch.

I’m pretty surprised that neither Mariah Carey nor Taylor Swift got any nominations … these are the types of artists that the Grammy Award folks usually love to lavish trophies upon. I wonder if Mimi knew that she was going to get the shaft from the Grammys before she agreed to appear on the Nomination Special that aired on TV last night. I bet she’s pissed. After the jump, check out a few pics of John Mayer and Xtina Aguilera doing their thing on stage at the Grammy Awards Nomination Special that aired on CBS last night …

Suddenly un-shy
Mayerston Do The Big Apple, Are Seen Together

Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer were uncharacteristically snapped out and about together in NYC last night just about a day after Aniston‘s Vogue magazine coverstory hit the Internets. You may recall that Jen talked very openly about her new love affair with John in the mag as well as her lingering feelings towards ex-hubby Brad Pitt and his new wife-like partner Angelina Jolie. It would appear that confession is good for the soul because this Mayerston public appearance seems a little out of the ordinary. Here are pics of Jen and John making their way out of the NYC eatery La Esquina late last night:

Days after Jennifer Aniston declared she’s “lucky in love,” she joined her beau, John Mayer, for a romantic dinner date in NYC. The pair met up at Manhattan hotspot La Esquina late Thursday night. Aniston, 39 – dressed in black boots, skinny jeans and a bomber jacket – and Mayer, 30, couldn’t keep their hands off each other, according to a witness. After Mayer settled the bill, they headed over to GoldBar – but not before Aniston sweetly signed autographs and hugged a few fans. At the club, the couple hit the dance floor well into the morning.

Well now … clearly Mayerston are hellbent on giving their second shot a love a fighting chance. I mean … matching black outfits and everything. They are NOT effing around this time. From the beginning, I really liked these two together and was pretty bummed that they decided to call it quits over the summer. To be honest, I never thought they’d actually get back together so I’m glad to see that they proved me wrong. I suppose I should’ve known that the couple might amp up their visibility after Jen‘s Vogue interview came out. As I said, it is very uncharacteristic for Jen to venture out in public with a romantic interest and not try and shun the cameras. This smiling new, photo-friendly Jennifer Aniston is a nice surprise. We’ll have to see if she keeps it up. I’m pretty sure John Mayer is up for happily embracing the paps. Do y’all think that this is the beginning of a serious LTR for the couple?

Keepin' it on the downlow
Mayerston Remain A Sneaky Pair

Lookie, lookie … it appears that the rekindled romance betwixt Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer is still goin’ strong these days. Mayerston have been romantically reunited for a few weeks now but have managed to stay under wraps pretty successfully in that time. The couple were spotted in close physical proximity out in public a couple of weeks ago in order to celebrate John‘s birthday … and here are a couple pics of the pair making their way out of Courteney Cox-Arquette‘s home last night after celebrating the election results there. It would seem that lurve is still very much in the air:

As I understand it, media-shy Jen reportedly decided to reignite her romantic involvement with John on the express condition that he shy away from talking to (or seeking the attention from) the media (and the paparazzi in general). On that account, I think he’s managed to stay out of trubs with her. I seem to recall that John was happy to chat with the photogs the first time he and Jen were together … this time, we’ve seen nary a sight of him either with or without Jen in close proximity. I suspect if the couple is able to maintain this level of detachment from the cameras (well, except for the stray pic here or there of the couple sneaking out of this or that venue) then Mayerston may have a long and happy future together. Might there be Mayerston babies in the future? I guess it’ll depend on how good a boy John can stay in Jen‘s eyes. Good luck!

Mayerston together again
Jennifer Aniston, John Mayer Together Again

For the past couple of weeks, we’ve been hearing about Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer creepin’ around together again months after the couple called off their fleeting relationship. The couple were spotted on secret dates in Boston, MA and New York, NY and then made their way to SoCal to continue creepin’ here as well. We heard that Jen helped John celebrate his birthday last week and saw a photo of her making her way into his house on the night of his birthday but we haven’t actually seen a photo of the couple together since last June … until now. Here are a couple pics of Mayerston making their way out of the Sunset Tower Hotel early week after the couple enjoyed a romantic dinner together ahead of John‘s 31st birthday:

Jennifer Aniston and her former boyfriend John Mayer have been photographed together for the first time since their dramatic split earlier this year. The actress, 39, and her 31-year-old singer/songwriter beau joined three friends for dinner at the Sunset Tower Hotel in Hollywood last Tuesday night. The rendezvous was the third time the pair have been spotted together in a week, prompting speculation they are giving their relationship another go. Their outing came just days after they were spotted dining in Boston and New York City. The couple broke up in August following a summer romance before last month MailOnline told exclusively how Jennifer had called her ex-partner and reinitiated contact, with them talking daily. On Tuesday night, Jennifer met her friend Courteney Cox and her peers Demi Moore and Kirsten Dunst at the screening of a series of short films for Glamour magazine. After mingling with her fellow female celebrities, Jennifer met up with John and three other friends at the Sunset Tower Hotel for dinner around 10pm.

Ever since Mayerston appear to have rekindled their relationship this time around, the couple have been seen cuddling and canoodling together as if they had never broken up in the first place. In fact, some folks have expressed that the couple may not have really broken up in the first place and were just each bizzy with work commitments that kept them apart physically. Would John Mayer actually tell the TMZ cameras that the couple had broken up when, in fact, they hadn’t? For a guy who doesn’t seem to love the attention from the paps very much, I don’t think he would do that … but he is a jokester and I wouldn’t be shocked if that is what he did. In any event, the couple appear to be back “on” or at the very least very, very friendly with one another again. Personally, I think it’s great that lurve is back in bloom for Mayerston. John is the best thing to happen to Jen‘s romantic life in years, I think. Hopefully, this time around, they can actually make a serious go at it.

Lurve is in the air ... again?
Mayerston Reunite To Celebrate John Mayer’s Birthday

Well, well now … it looks like we may have to un-Peace the Spork Out the celeb couple known as Mayerston, especially if all the recent reports about the couple are to be believed. Over the past week, there have been reports that John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston have been hooking up clandestinely in Boston, MA and NYC, NY but until now the pair have not been photographed together. Actually they still haven’t been photographed together but Tuesday night they were snapped in very close proximity ahead of a new report that the couple reconnected last night to celebrate John Mayer‘s 31st birthday (which is today). Here are pics of John and Jen making their way out separately (but right after the other) at the Sunset Tower Hotel here in LA earlier this week:

John Mayer rang in his 31st birthday at exclusive Beverly Hills cigar bar Grand Havana Room October 15 – with back-on girlfriend Jennifer Aniston by his side. The relaxed pair hung out on a private outdoor patio for several hours late in the evening. Mayer, at one point, affectionately stroked Aniston’s hair. The singer – whose actual birthday is October 16 – and the Marley and Me actress, 39, began a whirlwind romance in April, but split in August. On October 10, however, the two appeared to be back on. They took in a Ray LaMontagne concert in Boston and then spent the next couple of days in New York City before flying to Los Angeles on a private plane. Another public date followed on October 13, where they dined and drank wine with three pals at Sunset Tower’s Tower Bar. “They were holding hands at one point and seemed very much back on,” a witness tells Us.

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. I usually immediately discount the first reports of a couple’s reunion but with each subsequent sighting, the story seems more clear. It’s very telling the Jen would come out for John‘s birthday celebration … which adds credence to the earlier reports that the pair were seen on dates back on the East Coast. Does this mean that Mayerston are going to plunge headlong back into a relationship with one another? Lawd, I hope so. Individually, they are each so uninteresting. Together they make a very nice couple and I hope they are able to rekindle their failed romance in order to give things another try. After all, what do they each have to lose?

Apparently
John Mayer Likes To Train With Marines

Here are a couple of photos of John Mayer, who has been pretty MIA since he fell out of romantic favor with Jennifer Aniston (ie. the paparazzi have had pretty much zero interest in him anymore), doing a bit of military-like defense training with some of the men of the Krav Maga Association … or something like that. The Krav Maga Association, for those who don’t know (like me), is “the official self defense system of the Israeli Defense Forces, and has been taught to hundreds of law enforcement agencies and thousands of civilians in the United States … they teach a self defense system that emphasizes instinctive movements, practical techniques, and realistic training scenarios” … so, yeah:

When David Kahn, U.S. chief instructor for Israeli Krav Maga Association, decided to pay another visit to New River, he mentioned he might “bring a friend that wants to meet and possibly train with Marines.” It turns out that the visit may have meant as much to Krav Maga-student and musical artist, John Mayer, as to the Marines he met. “Believe me when I say that the day was life-changing,” Mayer said after spending several hours with the residents at Wouned Warrior Battalion East. Not after a bid for good press, prior to the visit, Kahn, Mayer, grammy-winning producer Chad Franscoviak and several others were adamant that the visit not be publicized as it was “not about us, but about the Marines.” The tour also included a trip to the ISMT where they put a few rounds downrange before culminating with some training time with Marine Coros Martial Arts instructor trainers.

Uhhh, with all of this special defense training, mebbe it’s not a good idea to poke fun at good ol’ John Mayer anymore? I guess it’s fortunate that the paps no longer are interested in following him around since he now has the ability to kick some major ass. Oh John, you never cease to entertain.

Jen who?
John Mayer Gets Back To Work

Here are a few pics of John Mayer playing a show at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater at Encore Park in Alpharetta, GA on Friday night wearing an awesome Purple Rain t-shirt and showin’ the world that life goes on for the media-friendly musician after a failed relationship with Jennifer Aniston:

Oh yeah, he really looks into it … I guess he has to work out his sexual frustration somehow now, right? After the jump, check out a couple more pics of John going apeshizz on his guitar for a portion of his live performance …

Bros before woes
John Mayer Has Got The Blues, Brother

Here are a few pics of John Mayer out for a seemingly sad dinner with one of his brothers lookin’ like he is two seconds away from bursting into tears. John and his bro stepped out for dinner at Nobu in NYC, just two days after his most recent ex-girlfriend Jennifer Aniston dined there (you may recall that she was lookin’ as happy as can be, beaming from ear to ear, that night):

Johnny really does look a bit sad … I honestly believe that his break-up with Jen wasn’t something that he wanted to to, it was something that he had to do. You may recall that John gave an impromptu interview on the streets of NYC this past weekend and he explained that his relationship with Jen had to end because, essentially, their schedules wouldn’t allow them to be together properly. Jen, since the break-up, looks as if she’s handling things well … John, well, that’s a different story. Who knows … maybe, if scheduling allows, Mayerston can reunite and get things back on track at some point in the future (after all, McGosling seem to be back on the reconciliation track after a year or two of dunzoness). Until then, tho, I hope John Mayer cheers up a bit … seeing him look all weepy is a total bummer.

Explains to the world why he broke up with Jennifer Aniston
John Mayer Gives A Press Conference … Kinda

John Mayer, who appears to have been having a tough time this week since his breakup with Jennifer Aniston, gave an impromptu press conference on the streets of NYC this weekend, talking to whatever camera was in his face at the time. TMZ managed to get the whole thing on tape and is spreading Mayer‘s message of heartache to the four corners of the world … er, well, the ones that enjoy Internet access that is:

Mayer was indignant at reports his relationship with Jen was torpedoed because he cheated. He says “I ended a relationship to be alone, because I didn’t want to waste someone’s time.” All the “cheating” stories are cheap lies, Mayer says, adding, “It’s the most normal thing in the world” when a relationship runs its course. And he challenged 20% of Americans who are too wussy to get out of relationships that don’t work. After railing on the mags, Johnny boy has some serious superlatives for Jen.

The video, which you can watch HERE, is chock full of Mayer nuggets of wisdom that are simply not to be missed. In the vid, John says, “Jennifer Aniston is the smartest, most sophisticated woman I’ve ever met” and explains the parameters of the breakup of Mayerston. He says:

“It’s about going out with somebody being truthful on the way in, being truthful in the middle and being truthful on the way out. You’re either a cheater or you break up and I’m not the first one, I’m the second one and that’s it.”

Someone then asks him if he is dating anyone else right now and he gets pissy that he would even be asked that question, implying that the mere asking if he’s with someone else discounts all of his statements that there was no cheating involved in the breakup. He continues, “I ended a relationship to be alone because I don’t want to waste somebody’s time if something’s not right.” He ended the “press conference” by implying that he had to “give up” Jenn because sometimes you “can’t have it all” (the implication is that their schedules, etc. are what also led to their breakup) and that having to breakup at all “sucks”. Well, I’m glad that he got that all cleared up. It appears that John may be out of the mopey stage and is now ready to move on … which, I think, is prolly a good idea for everyone involved.
