Twin brothers and BFFs Joel and Benji Madden were spotted on the streets of LA this week doing a bit of working out and bonding together. Considering how bizzy the brothers have been lately, it’s nice to see that they manage to find some time to just hang out the two of them from time to time:

Now that Benji is an accomplished boxer, it’s important for him to stay in shape should he need to defend his title in the future. Joel is so cool to be there to help train with his bro. We usually see Joel out with Nicole Richie or his children but it’s nice to see him out with his twin every now and then. The Madden brothers have been hard at work on the next Good Charlotte album Cardiology … which is near completion … but this week, Joel and Benji made sure to set aside time for some brotherly bonding. Awww.

While uncle Benji Madden was kickin’ Riki Rachtman‘s ass in a celebrity boxing match in Las Vegas, NV on Saturday night, daddy Joel Madden and mama Nicole Richie were makin’ Easter plans for the following morning. Nic/Joel were in LV to support Benji at his fight but they made a quick trip home to LA so that they could take little Harlow Winter to Easter church services in Beverly Hills, CA on Easter morn … behold:

Nic/Joel know how important it is to be present with Harlow for these important moments in her life. These are memories that she will carry with her for the rest of her life as she grows up. She looks like a total doll in her Easter dress and I’m certain she enjoyed a fantastic Easter with her mommy and daddy. Aren’t they just the cutest?

While rumors are swirling that Nicole Richie is shopping for wedding dresses at NY Fashion Week this week, the very engaged Joel Madden took his eldest child — daughter Harlow Winter Kate — for a stroll on the chilly streets of NYC yesterday afternoon:

OMG … how cute is Harlow. It sure looks like she’s nice and toasty all bundled up in that cute little outfit. I cannot get over how adorable this little girl is … she is the PERFECT amalgamation of both mama Nicole and daddy Joel. I’m still very happy that the news of Nic/Joel‘s engagement has finally been made public … now we can look forward to the coming nuptials. No word on how long the Richie-Madden clan will remain in NYC so we may get to see more cute pics like this soon.

Congratulations are in order for Nicole Richie and Joel Madden — parents of the very beautiful Harlow Winter Kate and Sparrow James Midnight — who have finally announced to the world that they are engaged to be wed!! Altho the couple have been secretly engaged for some time now, the couple have finally decided to share the happy news with the rest of the world. Nicole appeared as a guest on The Late Show with David Letterman in NYC last night and broke the news to Letterman and the world during her interview. Groom-to-be Joel confirmed the news on his official Twitter profile as well. Here are photos of the couple making their way thru the scrum of paparazzi in NYC last night and a close-up photo of Nicole‘s pimpin’ engagement bling:

They’ve been together for more than three years and have two children. Now, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are planning to make it official. “Yep. i’m engaged. Very happy. Yeah we’ve been engaged for a while so your all kind of late on that. But Thanks for the hooplah all the same,” Madden Tweeted Monday night, after news of their plans to wed went wide. He also expressed thanks to relatives who did not let word of the engagement slip. He Tweeted: “P.S. thats why i love my family and friends. None of them are sources. All good tight lipped people who let us enjoy it! Thanks everybody” Richie said Monday night during a taping of the Late Show with David Letterman that the couple are engaged to be married, a source told PEOPLE. After the show, Richie headed to the New York restaurant Abe & Arthurs – without her fiancé – for dinner. “She was glowing,” says a source. “She was telling her table how happy she was.” Richie, 28, and Madden, 30, began dating in December 2006 and have daughter Harlow, 2, and son Sparrow, 5 months.

I am THRILLED that Nic/Joel finally decided to let the world in on their happy news. I’m pretty sure many folks got very suspicious that the couple were planning a wedding when Nicole was spotted paying a visit to a Monique L’Huillier boutique here in SoCal a few weeks ago … L’Huillier is famous for her beautiful wedding dresses, after all ;) But … the word is FINALLY out … and we can all send the happy couple our warmest wishes and our most heartfelt congratulations!!!

25 years after the original version was recorded, a new batch of stars convened at the Jim Henson Studios in Hollywood, CA to re-record the charity anthem We Are The World in an effort to raise money and awareness for Haitian Relief. 25 years ago, We Are The World was written and recorded in an effort to raise money for African Aid so it is very fitting that the song would be remade for the people of Haiti. Here are a few photos from inside the recording studio yesterday for this momentous occasion:

Producers were putting the final touches Tuesday to a remake of “We Are The World” with stars such as Barbra Streisand, Wyclef Jean and Celine Dion lending their support for Haiti’s quake victims. It was 25 years ago that Michael Jackson, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen joined others at the famed A&M Studios in Hollywood for an all-star recording of the same song to benefit famine relief in Africa. That effort, USA for Africa, raised 63 million dollars. This time, dozens of other A-listers — who also include Usher, Lil Wayne, Pink, Natalie Cole and the Jonas Brothers — took to the same soundstage late Monday for an hours-long recording that dragged into the night. The aim is to raise money to help survivors of the massive January 12 quake that killed 170,000 people and devastated what was already the poorest country in the Americas. No cameras were allowed inside, but the song’s producers said “We Are The World – 25 For Haiti” will air during NBC television’s coverage of the opening of the Winter Olympics on February 12. More than 70 stars — many of them hip-hop artists — lent their voice to the effort, none of them participants in the original recording. Rapper Wyclef Jean, a Haiti native, said in a statement he was “proud to be joined by so many members of the artistic community that want to support the region and have donated their time and talents to providing an effective way for the global community to get involved with helping the Haitian population.” The original tune was co-written and produced by Jackson, who died June 25 of cardiac arrest, Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones. Richie and Jones produced the new version. Academy Award-winning filmmaker Paul Haggis, who directed “Crash” and also co-wrote “Million Dollar Baby,” filmed the session for an accompanying video. “What an unbelievable group of people who have come together to give their voices, for a cause to start the healing of a people who have experienced a devastation of such magnitude,” said Richie. Among the other performers spanning a broad swath of genres and ages, from 83-year-old Tony Bennett to 15-year-old Justin Bieber, were Carlos Santana, Brian Wilson and Al Jardine of the Beach Boys. “It kind of hit me that I guess this is something way more important than I could have ever imagined,” rapper Lil Wayne, who is playing Bob Dylan’s part from the original recording, told a news conference. The recording was timed just a day after the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards to ensure the maximum number of stars would attend. The contemporary version of the song and the video will be available to buy through online and traditional retailers. Producers say all proceeds will go “directly” to earthquake relief efforts in Haiti.

This is such a fantastic idea … what a great way to raise money for Haitian relief. It’s such a shame that Michael Jackson couldn’t be part of this redux but it was nice of Kanye West to wear one of MJ‘s jackets so that he could be there in spirit. I can’t even begin to express how much of an impact the original We Are The World had on me when it was released in 1985. I loved that song so much … I would sit by the radio and record it on cassette tapes every time it aired … I would have cassette tapes with just this song recorded on it over and over again. I’m really looking forward to hearing this version. I’m not sure why this report claims there were “no cameras” allowed in the studio because there were and a lot of photos have been made available. Undoubtedly, Nic/Joel had a fantastic 2009 together … not only did they get to watch their beautiful babygirl, Harlow Winter, grow into an adorable little toddler but they also welcomed the birth of a babyboy, Sparrow James. As their family grew so did their love. Here’s to a happy and prosperous 2010 for the Richie-Madden family. Considering how cute their babies turn out, I’d not be surprised at all if they decided to add another little one to the fam ;)

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, who will be celebrating Xmas this year with their children Harlow Winter and Sparrow James (his first) this week, braved the “cold” SoCal weather to take care of some biz in Beverly Hills, CA yesterday … here are a couple of photos:

You can tell it was chilly by the way that Nicole was all bundled up … tho, I can assure you, the “cold” here is nothing compared to real cold elsewhere ;) With the holiday melee nearly upon them, I’m sure Nic/Joel didn’t mind sharing a bit of alonetime together on this little outing. With all the craziness to come, it’s nice that they were able to steal a few moments for themselves.

Nicole Richie, who just a week ago announced production of a new TV show, is once again sharing with readers of her official blog. Nicole posted a batch of supercute family photos which include her children, with Joel Madden, Harlow Winter Kate and Sparrow James Midnight (who was born in September) … behold:

Aren’t they the cutest lil’ family? This is the first time we are seeing little Sparrow James since he made his worldwide debut in the pages of People magazine in October. In these pics it kinda looks like Nicole cut off all of her hair … but her long hair may just be tucked behind her back. Honestly tho, I wouldn’t be surprised if Nicole did cut off her hair and went back to her shorter bob ‘do. After all, both Britney Spears and Taylor Swift are rockin’ new hair’dos these days. In any event, short hair or long, Nicole looks exceedingly happy with her lovely family. I imagine Nic/Joel and their children are really looking forward to sharing the best Xmas ever this year :)

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, proud parents of two children and founders of The Richie-Madden Children’s Foundation, were on hand yesterday at Beyond Shelter here in Los Angeles, CA to officially break ground on a new playground for underprivileged children. As you may be aware, The Richie-Madden Children’s Foundation has been raising money for some time now to fund the construction of this playground and yesterday was the day to get the work started. Here are a few photos of Nic/Joel with some of the lucky kids who will get to enjoy this new playground at the ground-breaking ceremony yesterday:

They may have their hands full with newborn Sparrow and 21-month old Harlow, but Nicole Richie and Joel Madden took time away from home on Thursday to take care of some less privileged kids: After 13 months of fundraising, the couple broke ground on a new playground at a homeless shelter in downtown Los Angeles. “It’s so rewarding to see the smile on these kids faces,” Richie, 28, tells PEOPLE. Several of the pint-sized inhabitants of Beyond Shelter’s Broadway Village 2, a shelter in an L.A. neighborhood with the highest concentration of crime and poverty, turned out to celebrate the happy news that they would soon have a place to play. “I spend tons of time here,” says Richie. “When I found out the kids play on a concrete slab or play inside all day, it hit me. Kids need to have an imagination, to be outside and to be free.” So will they soon be having play dates with Harlow? “Absolutely,” says her proud dad, 30. “Now that she’s playground age, she can!” Adds Richie, “We started [the Richie-Madden Children's Foundation] so it could be something that our siblings, parents and our kids could all do together. It’s something we talk to her about all the time.” Next up for the couple, who raised $35,000 for the playground with the help of C&C California and Marble Slab Creamery, is 4EveryBaby, an online baby registry for mothers in need. Madden jokes that with all the projects Harlow has inspired, including Richie’s jewelry line House of Harlow 1960, the couple are brainstorming a project in Sparrow’s honor. “Sparrow’s going to get an awesome club,” he quipped. “Because he’s awesome.”

This is great news … I know Nic/Joel have been working so hard for so long to raise the funds to build this playground … it’s wonderful to see that they are finally at the construction phase. I’m sure the kids really appreciate their hard work and are very much looking forward to enjoying the playground once it’s completed. It’s pretty fantastic that with all the personal and professional stuff going on their lives, Nicole and Joel still make it a priority to give back to the community. Kudos to them!!
