We are just a couple days away from Hallowe’en so hopefully all y’all have your pumpkins picked and carved and ready to go … newish pics today show that Nicole Richie, Joel Madden and their first born child Harlow Winter already have their pumpkins picked out and ready to go:

As you can see, Nic/Joel did not bring along their newborn baby boy Sparrow James to enjoy the pumpkin picking fun … but it looks like a fun time was had by all. They are just so cute! I wonder if we’re gonna be able to see what Harlow is dressing up as for Hallowe’en.

Nicole Richie & Joel Madden Break Ground On A New Playground

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, proud parents of two children and founders of The Richie-Madden Children’s Foundation, were on hand yesterday at Beyond Shelter here in Los Angeles, CA to officially break ground on a new playground for underprivileged children. As you may be aware, The Richie-Madden Children’s Foundation has been raising money for some time now to fund the construction of this playground and yesterday was the day to get the work started. Here are a few photos of Nic/Joel with some of the lucky kids who will get to enjoy this new playground at the ground-breaking ceremony yesterday:

They may have their hands full with newborn Sparrow and 21-month old Harlow, but Nicole Richie and Joel Madden took time away from home on Thursday to take care of some less privileged kids: After 13 months of fundraising, the couple broke ground on a new playground at a homeless shelter in downtown Los Angeles. “It’s so rewarding to see the smile on these kids faces,” Richie, 28, tells PEOPLE. Several of the pint-sized inhabitants of Beyond Shelter’s Broadway Village 2, a shelter in an L.A. neighborhood with the highest concentration of crime and poverty, turned out to celebrate the happy news that they would soon have a place to play. “I spend tons of time here,” says Richie. “When I found out the kids play on a concrete slab or play inside all day, it hit me. Kids need to have an imagination, to be outside and to be free.” So will they soon be having play dates with Harlow? “Absolutely,” says her proud dad, 30. “Now that she’s playground age, she can!” Adds Richie, “We started [the Richie-Madden Children's Foundation] so it could be something that our siblings, parents and our kids could all do together. It’s something we talk to her about all the time.” Next up for the couple, who raised $35,000 for the playground with the help of C&C California and Marble Slab Creamery, is 4EveryBaby, an online baby registry for mothers in need. Madden jokes that with all the projects Harlow has inspired, including Richie’s jewelry line House of Harlow 1960, the couple are brainstorming a project in Sparrow’s honor. “Sparrow’s going to get an awesome club,” he quipped. “Because he’s awesome.”

This is great news … I know Nic/Joel have been working so hard for so long to raise the funds to build this playground … it’s wonderful to see that they are finally at the construction phase. I’m sure the kids really appreciate their hard work and are very much looking forward to enjoying the playground once it’s completed. It’s pretty fantastic that with all the personal and professional stuff going on their lives, Nicole and Joel still make it a priority to give back to the community. Kudos to them!! People magazine brings us our FIRST LOOK at the newest member of the Richie-Madden family today … Sparrow James Midnight (who was born last month) and his mom Nicole Richie are featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of People … check out their adorable coverphoto:

Six weeks after welcoming their first son, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden – along with their 21-month-old daughter Harlow – are showing off the latest addition to their family, Sparrow James Midnight Madden. “I couldn’t be happier,” Richie tells PEOPLE. “The only thing you want is for your kids to be healthy and happy, and they are. I’m right where I belong.” In an interview at their home in Laurel Canyon in Los Angeles, Richie, 28, and Madden, 30, her boyfriend and front man of the band Good Charlotte, say they are deprived of sleep, but grateful their daughter Harlow is now fawning over a baby brother. “I’m glad I had a girl before I had a boy,” says Richie. “She just loves him so much.” Adds the children’s proud papa, “She’s very gentle with him.”

Man-o-man … look at how cute they are. As Harlow Winter gets older she looks more and more like Nicole … and little Sparrow looks so much like his father Joel Madden. They are just … precious. At last … we get to see what this new little guy looks like … and he’s a doll.

Nicole Richie & Joel Madden Take Her Sister Sophia To A Concert

Nicole Richie, who just gave birth a couple of weeks ago, decided to take her little sister Sophia and her loverkins Joel Madden to see a Selena Gomez concert over the weekend. Little Sophia was unfortunately hobbling around on crutches but Nicole, who just gave birth mind you, was lookin’ totally faboo! Here are some photos:

I’m sure it’s totally normal for women to give birth and then carry on with their normal routines but … HELLO, Nicole looks great! Her baby bump is long gone … she looks fab. While I would love to see photos of little Sparrow James Midnight (hopefully sometime soon), it’s really great seeing Nicole just out and about as if she didn’t just give birth! You go girl, you look great!!

The Madden Twins Hit The Streets Of SoCal

Yesterday we saw photos of new dad (again) Joel Madden making his way to his SoCal gym just a week after his second child, Sparrow James Midnight, was born … and today we get to see that Joel made it two for two as he stepped out again sans newborn baby boy but with twin brother Benji Madden:

It’s gotta be tough to leave your newborn baby boy so soon after his birth but I’m sure hanging out with a twin brother lessens the separation anxiety. It’s always great to see the Madden twins together and I’m sure they have a lot to talk about … but I’m already dying for more info about Sparrow James. I imagine that Nicole Richie is resting comfortably and little Harlow Winter Kate is having the time of her life with her new baby brother … the Richie-Maddens are the cutest family ever! I can’t wait to see them all together again.

New Dad Joel Madden Emerges In SoCal

One week ago today Nicole Richie and Joel Madden welcomed the birth of their second child, a baby boy named Sparrow James Midnight, and altho we’ve not yet seen hide nor hair of either mother or son yet we do get to see new pics of daddy Joel Madden out and about in SoCal yesterday afternoon. I understand, via Joel’s official Twitter profile, that he is a bit sick (as is Nic/Joel’s firstborn child Harlow Winter Kate) but the new dad (again) managed to get out of the house for a quick trip to the gym:

While it is always nice to see Joel out and about, I’m far more interested in seeing the emergence of Nicole and/or little Sparrow. I suspect we won’t be seeing either one of them for some time now but, if Nic/Joel follow suit the way they did when Harlow was born, they may be debuting a photo of their new bundle of joy on their official websites very soon. To be honest, there is no rush at all … I’m sure the family is going to take as much time as they like getting settled in their new configuration … but still, I can’t wait to see what the little guy looks like. Any guess how many tattoos he was born with?

Nicole Richie Gives Birth To A Baby Boy

Congratulations are in order for Nicole Richie and Joel Madden on the birth of their second child, a baby boy they have named Sparrow James Midnight! The official announcement was made on Nicole’s official website but the news was quickly disseminated by Joel on his official Twitter profile. It’s a boy!!

In the middle of night, the very early hours of September 9, 2009 Sparrow James Midnight Madden was born to Nicole Richie and Joel Madden. He weighs 7lbs 14oz. Nicole, Joel, Harlow and Sparrow are all doing well. Thank you for all of your good wishes.

Joel tweeted: Geuss who’s back….. Oh i’m sorry we were only having a little baby boy.

I guess it turns out that those rumors we heard back in May about the baby being a boy turned out to be true!! You may recall that we learned over the weekend that Nicole reportedly checked into the hospital to give birth … and at last the Nic/Joel’s second child is born! Surely this must be a magic baby … he was born on 09.09.09. I can only imagine that the little guy is as cute as his big sister Harlow Winter Kate. Much, much love and congrats to the happy family on their expansion!! XO

Joel Madden Tools Around With His New Toy

Yesterday, Joel Madden tweeted to his faithful Twitter followers that he is the proud owner of a new toy … and today we get to see the photos of Joel’s new toy … which requires the use of a riding helmet:

LOL! To be fair, Joel Madden is a family man now … he’s not really able to take the crazy risks that he used to be able to before he became a father. It won’t be long now before Nic/Joel welcome the birth of their newest little addition to the family (will it be a boy? will it be a girl?) so I’m sure they’re doing all they can to enjoy as much time together as a threesome as they can before the new baby takes center stage. It’s so insane to think that Harlow Winter is about to become a big sister … it feels like she was just born yesterday. I’m just so happy for the Richie-Madden family … they seem so happy and are deffo so in love with one another. I predict that they won’t stop at just 2 babies ;) Aren’t they just the cutest?

Earlier today we saw photos of the pregs Heidi Klum taking her baby bump to Broadway to see The Lion King over the weekend and now we get to see a supercute pic of Nicole Richie and babydaddy Joel Madden taking their baby bump to the beach here in SoCal … behold:

Lawd have MERCY, Nicole has gotten big! It’s amazing that the miracle of pregnancy can turn a teeny tiny woman and make her grow exponentially big … in such a short time. I mean, her bump has been comin’ along nicely in recent weeks but BANG! she got all huge all of the sudden. Nic/Joel sure look happy … I bet they can’t wait to welcome their new bundle of joy. So cute!!
