Kristen Stewart Gets Wrapped In Red Leather

It’s been a little while since we’ve seen any photos from the set of the new film The Runaways which stars Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning and others as the real life 70’s rock group of the same name. There are a few new photos of K. Stew on set with her mentor (the woman she portrays in the film) Joan Jett and a garishly red leather jumpsuit … check ‘em out HERE:

Twilight cutie Kristen Stewart showed off her latest 70s rock getup on the set of her film The Runaways on Thursday in Norwalk, Ca. Wearing a red leather jumpsuit, Kristen, 19, consulted her rock mentor and real-life Runaway, Joan Jett, as the two relaxed on set. These two are looking more and more alike every day! But since Kristen is playing Joan in The Runaways, we guess that’s a good thing. The Runaways hits theaters next year.

The film should get high marks for authenticity, this red number that Kristen is wearing looks exactly like the red jumpsuit that Joan wore in concert and on the cover of their album The Runaways Live in Japan:


Oh man … the 70’s were fun. While I am really excited to see this biopic film when it gets released next year, I’m also lookin’ forward to seeing what other fashion atrocities are resurrected from the dead in the film. Woot! Can’t wait!!

Dakota Fanning & Kristen Stewart Hang With Real ‘Runaways’

Here are a few new pictures of Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart chillin’ with rockers Cherie Currie and Joan Jett, the women that the young actresses will be portraying in the big screen biopic based on the all-girl 70’s band The Runaways. As you may recall, we previously saw photos of Kristen, rockin’ the hawt mullet, coming out of a recording studio with Joan Jett who is presumably mentoring the young actress on how to sing like her. I believe this is the first time we’ve seen Dakota with Cherie doing the same:


I know that there are a lot of rock purists who are not happy with the casting of this movie based on the legendary band The Runways but I totally get it. The movie will need some semblance of starpower to be successful (especially in this economy) and casting talented no name actresses may help with the film’s indie cred, it won’t necessarily guarantee an audience. You put Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning in any movie and you can be assured that the film will have an audience. I think it speaks very highly of these young actresses that Joan Jett and Cherie Currie are working so closely to ensure that they get their portrayals right. Knowing that the actual Runaways have a say in the film’s production has got me sold. I am deffo looking forward to seeing this biopic … while I am horribly curious, I’m also hoping the young ladies will do the rockers life story justice.

Joan Jett Shows Kristen Stewart The Ropes

Kristen Stewart is getting a bit more help these days in preparation for her role as Joan Jett in the upcoming biopic on the ’70’s all-girl punk band The Runaways … from Joan Jett herself. Kristen and Joan were spotted carpooling together to Sunset Sound studio here in LA yesterday to do some vocal training together for the film:


My guess is that the actresses who will be portraying The Runaways may be doing some of their own singing. To be honest, I think it would be better if they used the actual vocal tracks recorded by the band back in the 70’s but … mebbe they’re going for realism? Not only will K. Stew look like Joan Jett but, apparently, she’ll sound like her too. I have to say … it’s pretty damn cool that Kirsten gets to work so closely with a musical legend like Joan Jett. I truly hope that Kristen is able to adequately portray Joan in the film. We shall see.
